Yes! Eureka has quite a few major chains like Costco, Target, Walmart, Kohl’s etc which is convenient. There are food chains like Applebees, Denny’s and most fast food restaurants too. There are less chains in the town of Arcata (10 minutes north of Eureka) due to a land use code that limits the town of Arcata to only 9 chain stores to prioritize small, local businesses.

You didn’t mention that many neighborhoods here have terrible air quality because so many people burn wood and use wood stoves in Humboldt. It’s a serious health hazard in a place with a severe medical access problem.
If you do not like our wood stoves, get the F^%* ASAP. It is no big deal at all.
Home sweet home- and while not everyone there was involved in the weed industry everyone there absolutely benefited from the revenue in brought - with the collapse of the black market you have seen some huge changes in humboldt this last year especially- it’s a dying county if they do t get a new hustle
I grew up on Hillsdale St from 1948 to 1962. Lol
😊
Good luck finding a job up there.
doin' what ?
Just become a realtor and start making YT videos about moving to Humboldt. Problem solved.
Got your info an contact …. Need to talk her into it …. Will contact you IF she agrees with all the blogs I show her…. Thank you so much …. Great job 😉👍
How about second hand stores, like Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity? Where would places like that be found in Humboldt county?
Yesss I LOVE shopping at second hand/ thrift stores. There are some pretty good ones in Humboldt - Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville and Fortuna all have a few different options. My favorites are Rescue Mission (Eureka) and Angels of Hope (Arcata).
No Goodwill, no Habitat for Humanity, No Veterans Thrift or St Vincents.
There are Mirandas, an auction hoise that sells used furniture and several smaller charity operated thrift stores in several of the surrounding towns.
You talk about Home Depot not being there, but you most all other chains right? Walmart, target? Things like that?
@livinginhumboldtcounty that's actually a good thing less chains is but I was curious. I mean as long as there's in n out. Only chain I need
Same 😂 Luckily there is an In N Out in Eureka
@livinginhumboldtcounty it's such a unique part of the world there. I'm always surprised how cheap it is in comparison to the rest of California. Even where I live in rural New England. I really expected a lot of old money there because of the old architecture but I don't get that vibe. Seems like a very young area, a little sleepy and has its share of drugs and homeless like most beach towns do. I can't wait to go back. The area in general is like living a dream
I am always so surprised by how affordable it is here, too! It really is a special place 😊
Still 500k + house california 😅
It’s beautiful, initially I didn’t know my geography but never mind as soon as I saw California I opted out of anything in this video.
True most people can't afford CA
@@JO-uy6zs not really, I love god and guns and CA has no room for none of that.
❤
I love Humboldt I used to live in Arcata
What year ?
beautiful Place гумбольд Каунти калифорния
HOW YOU NOT POOR
How do you not know how to type proper English.?????
You mean money-wise? Who cares when you have the riches of nature and loving people outside your door every day.
its going to be so sad to watch this area change because of people selling it online
Change isn’t bad! 😊 And I believe everyone deserves to find their dream place. Humboldt is not for everyone.. but those that resonate with it deserve to know about it and find their community.
@@livinginhumboldtcounty Time will tell. Let's see what happens.
@@Malini108 I am just curious, were you born in Humboldt County, moved there very early and spent a majority of your childhood there, or moved there as an adult. I am 14 years old, was born in San Jose, but lived in Humboldt County from 2011 - 2014, and 2018 - 2022, so it is where I am from. How about you? If you moved here as an adult, then stop complaining.
@@HenryIdaho You haven't been alive long enough to see how the places you love can change, sweetie.
I'm planning on relocating to the Humboldt Bay area in the next few years and have zero plans to change anything. I like it for what it is, not for what I might want it to be.
Nice place to visit but you really don't want to live there.
six decades and still goin' strong.
@@thomaswattle9828 I had a horrible experience there and everybody corrupt and incompetent.
@@joebrenner4428 it's not everyones cup of tea
