I used to glaze glitchtale so much as a 12 year old 😭 I won’t be too harsh on the animation since it improved a ton over the course of the show, but the art style has a lot of awkward parts that kinda take you out of the moment (namely the flat stanley lookin heads and the paint bucket backgrounds) The characters are also completely flanderized and lack depth, and like half of them fall into mary sue territory
I was still a kid when glitchtale came out. I loved it, but didn't finish it, cus it went on for so long i forgot about it. I think glitchtale had so many fans cus kids saw undertale animations and went "yaaay, more undertale!". We did not see the plotholes and such, we just saw characters we liked doing cool battles i guess. Growing up makes you look at it a whole different way. Edit: Didn't expect so much response. Guess I was spot on. It's fun reading these similar experiences tho. :]
I remember being a little idiot child like 5-6 years ago and really liking glitchtale and wanting to see where it goes. And then as the years dragged on, I'd forget about it and had to rewatch the whole thing multiple times just to remember what the fuck was going on every time a new episode would randomly show up in my recommended. And by the time the series had actually ended and I developed a couple functioning braincells, I was starting to not enjoy the videos, and was eventually left thinking "the animation got better, there are more fights... but like damn... that's it?" I genuinely couldn't tell you how it even ends, and I've seen it multiple times at this point.
not a bad thing. The show was a passion project made for fun, not a well put together show with infinite budget and time and great, well experienced writers. It was fun and loved because of the sick fight scenes and cool ideas that it wanted to explore.
This, is Literally me. I grew up as a kid watching them in amazement cause I thought the animation looked cool! Now looking back and having everything lined out or pointed out I just feel disappointed
Spoilers Below As a former glitchtale fan looking back i realize now how bad it was to replace frisk with chara. Made sense for frisk to do that and was a cool character moment that did mix things up but lost all the potential frisk had as a character and all the themes they represented.
I agree with the video that frisk was pretty evil but that's what i liked, they were seemingly representing the worst aspects of players but then they just get to dissappear..i get its their fault it got that bad but that's more reason for them not push their problems onto chara
@TheUltimateGamer-rk7no i was just agree with the video that Cami made frisk basic pure evil and how it just feels wrong that frisk pushes their problems onto chara. The first comment was actually before I watched the video. Thinking about the flaws reminded me of all the problems replacing frisk caused. I thought I fixed the comment, but I missed a space and deleted a letter or 2 it's fixed now. Also I edited the comment to make this clear.
I'll be honest, Glitchtale would be 1000% better if it actually embraced the "violence is needed to solve some problems" philosophy it seemed to accidentally perpetrate. If Glitchtale was written as a natural counter to the idea that *Everyone* can be saved, instead of *accidentally* becoming a counter to that arguement, it would have made the show infinitely better.
@aldiascholarofthefirstsin1051 To add to that, the king doesn't even die. He simply gets put in a cage. It's basically saying "sometimes violence can't be avoided, but killing is still a choice." It provides a good counterpoint to Undertale's message without completing disagreeing with it.
I actually agree. Conceptually it's a pretty interesting story. I liked it first time I watched it. But it was very strange and yeah looking back it wasn't as good as I thought. But the concept isn't bad if it could be utilized in a way that works and maybe changing up some stuff.
I had such high hopes for Glitchtale when I was younger. And even when i was stupid kid, by the time they had PAPYRUS GET ARRESTED was when they lost the plot. Frisk giving up was the nail in the coffin.
i mean that part i could see that he misunderstood what was happening (and ofc bete was messing with his head most likely) and tried to help but then did something wrong sounds 100% like him but the firsk thing was 100% bs
Honestly painting either Asgore or Toriel as entirely wrong or right isn't fair to either of them. Asgore killed six children and wanted to fight humans in a belief that it would ultimately save his kingdom out of grief that his only two children died. Toriel abandoned her people and Asgore and tried to shelter the various children that came through in hopes that they could be happy and out of Grief. See the common denominator people? Grief, it Does things to people. Hell we see it first hand in the game, if you kill Papyrus on anything that Isn't a genocide run, Sans becomes Very Passive Aggressive towards you. And if you kill Mettaton or Undyne, Alphys straight up dissapears, possibly killing herself out of her own grief maybe?
Personally, I think Asgore was more a case of 'I can't back down on this anymore, I have to keep going, even if I hate it'. He admits that he doesn't want to go through with the war or killing any more people in general, but he feels he has no choice anymore as the leader of the monsters. One desperate, emotional decision, made to both give his people hope and out of the pain of losing his children, set his path in stone.
@zealousamourous Not a 'fan' for either. Not saying I don't like them, i just don't immediately ganboy over stuff. Just bringing in my observations on this.
@@TheUltimateGamer-rk7no yeah, it barely was planned and does better than something planned lol, also i wonder if the movie will end up being humans point of view during the invasion
GlitchTale's greatest flaw is that it cares more about making senseless anime-style fights for the sake of being flashy and cool instead of actually caring about the characters, their relationships, the lore and the general message of UnderTale. It practically REEKS of all the EPIC COOL SANS AND GASTER GENOCIDE FIGHT TRIPLE TIMELINE AU animations and Sans AUs the fandom kept spawning around 2016 and perfectly mirrors their lack of sense, understanding and substance of the original material; like looking at it through a funhouse mirror.
I will happily answer all of your questions for you: 1. Frisk managed to give Sans their soul, despite them and Chara sharing a body is because Chara banished Frisk to the shadow realm with Ice cap, Aaron, and Jerry. Frisk escapes out of the shadow realm because they didn't want to spend all eternity with Jerry. 2. Gaster tried to kill Frisk because he was a crack addict in the void and tried to kill Frisk because Gaster was suffering from severe crack withdrawl. 3. Sans managed to save Frisk from Gaster because Sans was Gaster's crack supplier and forgot to give Gaster his order for five years. And knew the danger Frisk would go through. 4. Chara is alive because they escaped hell thank to that bird that flies you over a really small gap. 5. Sans sobers Gaster from his crack withdrawal by using his device to get Gaster out of the void. 6. Chara ran out of determination because their soul runs on a Apple battery and they couldn't afford a charger. 7. The Anti Monster Department was made because the CEO was a big time Jerry hater and thought all monsters were like this. 8. Betty was a mercenary hired by Jerry because he didn't get a ride home. 9. Jessica betrayed Betty because she was working with a monster. 10. Toriel gets done dirty by Betty because Betty was ordered to do that by Jerry's second in command: That Froggit that Toriel gave a death stare to at the start of the game. 11. Asriel gets controlled by Betty because his determination also runs on an Apple battery. 12. Betty has infinite powers because she was made in a government lab and the head and only scientist of the project was Jerry. 13. The brave girl managed to use magic without their trait because she went to Hogwarts. 14. HATE was actually Jerry using 0.0000000000000000001% of his power. And how do I know all this, because I made it all up. Reply if I missed some.
Something that aggravates me about Glitchtale’s writing is that it has a lot of genuinely interesting concepts, but either absolutely butchers the execution or walks back on them as soon as possible. Betty is perhaps the biggest example of this. Originally, she was literally just a living debug program, an entity generated by the “game” to force the deletion of the timeline because it was so goddamn broken. The main antagonist was literally the manifestation of reality’s desire to erase itself. Which is actually really cool! But instead of exploring that in interesting ways, like perhaps Betty gaining self-awareness over time and eventually denying her “purpose”, it just walks it all back and makes her the result of some weird magic curse bullshit that the series barely explains. The series does this every time, actively trampling over its own potential until all that’s left is a hollow shell of a show that only cares about getting to the next shonen fight scene.
I kinda just believe that betty only had that backstory because reality had to give her one or risk making AN EVEN BIGGER glitch happen. It HAD to make one for betty because otherwise a being existing with no pre-existense would risk a bigger glitch. A being existing without no prerequisite(in THAT universe because they weren't meant to be alive)chara and i think we saw how much chaos they caused
@@letsplaywithmegacyborg3098 “Debut program” may not be the exact correct phrase, but the original origin of Betty was that she was created by the game as a way of forcing the timeline to ERASE after Chara failed to do so. She was an artificial existence designed solely for the purpose of ending reality. Later down the line, the series walked that back by retconning the idea of the world being a “game” as a consequence of Gaster’s accident, and was actively undone upon Betty’s death. Which is incredibly stupid and entirely misses the point of Undertale’s intentionally meta worldbuilding that blurs the line between game mechanics and in-universe laws of reality.
edit: The problem is that Camilia is simply repeating things she watched in media with no regard for how it fits into her story. She also sucks at writing nuance as shown in betty's origin story, where Agate is shown as unhinged because she wanted to get strong enough to stop her brother from breaking the barrier and kills a bunch of people for no reason. Agate could have pointed out how the neighboring human settlements would see the breaking of the barrier as an undermining of their efforts to prevent monsters from having access to human souls, and go to war again. But fuck nuance, we need the origin story to a murder machine.
Correction; _Agate_ was the unhinged one who killed her brother Copper. Amber was the youngest sibling who unfortunately was killed by the aforementioned Agate and then used as a basis for Betty... seriously, killing your family out of a petty grudge. How low can you go.
Betty was always the worst part of Glitchtale. She’s such a Mary Sue, and every fight with her that ever happened across the whole series played out exactly the same: Betty encounters/fights two characters in a 2v1, characters have good teamwork and things seem like they’re going well, Betty is frustrated and uses her anger to turn the fight around, one of the two good guys gets distracted and both of them are confident that they’re gonna win, Betty takes a cheap shot on the distracted character and kills them (or the other character tanks the hit for them and they die), surviving character retreats, everyone cries over recently deceased character and steels their resolve to fight Betty again later.
To play devil’s advocate really the only thing that kind of shook the cycle was Betty vs undyne, but even then she still pulled out one of her trap cards (the hate vial) before pulling a skeletor and running away. Undyne could’ve decimated Betty if she kept wailing on her before the pink gumball ate the vial
23:03 Bête casually running away from the character that in the source material has the power to remove your ability to run away as her signature ability, with said character also being known for running after you even if you try to escape is...Not very surprising. I'm not even sure Camilla played Undertale
glitchtale is that one annoying kid that makes himself invincible in pretend play that ruins all the fun "ha! I shot you!" "actually! I'm made of metal so your bullets do no dmg!" "ha! I killed you!" "actually I dodged!"
tbf, at that point undyne was alr weakened to continue fighting bcs she used all her power on that huge red spear attack. and i feel like taking away player's ability to run is just a game technicality and not an actual power
I am watching this while reading this but. An Undertale AU I recommend checking out is Inverted Fate. It's a webcomic made by Dorked. Takes the concept of 'What if Asriel wins in the final fight of true pacifist. and screws up his own plan' resulting a world where the lost souls swapping destinies with each other. and the world itself is effected as a result of these changes. such as Asgore making the Ruins a lovely place, as Toriel does her best to handle human hate as Queen. Papyrus is a scientist that makes stuff that. makes no sense. While Sans is actually part of the Royal Guard. Second in command. And Alphys being a timid royal guard leader that does things she doesn't want to. im not saying anything about undyne. find out yourself. Meanwhile Flowey's actively trying to 'befriend' Frisk to attempt regaining the Souls as he's planning something much bigger then his original plan in UT. Since he did NOT get his character moment from his fight. Give it a read! It's amazing!
@@ElfinHat96 Calling Inverted Fate just 'underswap' gives it real basic energy. And it isn't even really true cause only the Lost Souls were swapped and the world is effected as a result. Mettaton is still Mettaton after all. It's just the world and the characters being effected by the destiny swapping. A good showcase of this is Hotland as a whole being effected by Undyne's... More brutal actions including making reference to the phone calls within UT. It's better to look at IF as a 'continuation of UT's true pacifist route but if Asriel won his final fight'.
An Undertale fanfic that has an interesting concept, doesn't assassinate the characters' personalities and is actually well-written? How queer! I've never seen such a thing- I must inquire about this further with my supervisore post-haste!!
The funniest part of all this (and saddest part as well) is that some people who have previously worked with/under Camila (aside from the [REDACTED]'s) are so sick of her shit that plenty of them have decided to simply make their own (and definitively better) takes on Glitchtale... And I literally compose for one of them so I can confidently say- Glitchtale: NEO Madness Unlike Glitchtale it'll fix a LOT of the disfunctional writing and have no [REDACTED]'s involved, coming 2025 (at least, that's the desired release date)
@@mari4nart It was Camila's ex-boyfriend Neir (I think it was called), he was the main predator that came to light and started to make people question Camila's actions. Camila constantly defended him even after breaking up and tried to make the victim just "talk things out", and pretended to ban him. He was also put in multiple groups where he had access and interactions with multiple minors, both members and moderators.
If I had to pull up some wasted potential, Betty could've just _not_ threatened and attacked Jessica and worked on more subtle ways to put actual distrust into humanity-her stated goal is to make aure monsters _never_ know peace. You'd think then that she'd focus solely on taking out _monsters_ rather than humans, save for the sole few who might get too close to the truth... but no, she just goes haywire killing humans, kids included, to build up power, which leads to both side uniting against her. I get that she's revealed as the main villain by episode 2 of the second season, but she _really_ wasn't fleshed out too well looking back...
i mean having what looks like monster magic killing a lot of humans would get them to distrust monsters a lot but i think that them finding out she was the villain that fast did ruin that plot point
I agree, Betty was a character that could have had a lot of potential, but her execution just didn't work at all. Making her a character that bruteforces most of her problems was a bad design choice, shown by the fact that Gaster absolutely annihilates her in episode 8, despite her being in her peak form. It would have been so much better if she was more of a puppeteer sort of villain, where she makes everything tick from the sidelines rather than revealing herself and just going apeshit from the start.
you know ultimately i feel that glitchtale feels more like pontential wasted than an ACTUAL failure ;-((( wich is saying something since i feel that season 1 was better than season 2
Same, even as a pre teen I knew Betty/Bette whatever was some overpowered Mary Sue and I didn't even watch more than one episode, I just didn't like her design and character
Mary Sues OCs are super fun to write, people shouldn't feel so ashamed of making them. It's just for funsies, after all. Not defending Glitchtale tho, at best it's trying too hard to be taken seriously and at worst, well... The author.
When I first saw her, I was like "Didn't see much of Undertale, but I'm sure as hell that there was never a CutesyPinkGacha5372 in the cast."/"Love your oc who totally not just a recolored Frisk."
I love how soul traits are used in glitchtale. Each soul having their own magic and gaster and chara using all souls color magic. When in undertale there is not much info about human magic and what soul traits actually do. Like Clover using big shot and giga blast, magic associated with trait and color seems cool. In undertale it's just a mechanic and not real soul ability.
Undertale Yellow still abides by Undertale original soul rules, Clover is justice but all humans still have determination, the giga blast is possible because Clover level of violence is higher and their Determination to bring Justice has become stronger Frisk isn't the most determined because they have a "Determination" Soul, they're the most determined because they're Frisk.
The idea of an antagonist that has no way to be saved or spared no matter what you do is actually a pretty interesting idea, especially for a game like undertale. Like have the antagonist do bad things as a result of some kind of evil force that’s controlling them, but the only way to stop them is to kill them and end their suffering. Betty would been so much more interesting if Camilla’s braincells collided at least once while writing glitchtale
Fr, Flowey even brings it up at some point, but it never goes anywhere in the original, which isn't necessarily bad since it's just not the direction the game was going, but would be interesting to expand upon
It feels like a Wattpad/AO3/Tumblr fanfic that was animated Edit 1: Sorry, sorry, didn't mean to insult AO3 and Tumblr and Wattpad. I'm aware they have good stories, but you get my point.
I'm talking about Whitesnake (miraculous ladybug fic) and sodar Fallout (Thomas the tank engine) whitesnake's is an official video by the fanfic author and sodar Fallout's has many fan made videos of it but there not a full-blown video series like glitchtale was
at least glitchtale doesn't have a groomer for a character and starts shitting on a child who's scared about their sibling dying of an illness and have suicidal tendencies because of it instead of comforting the child
@@ShockInazumaok so what. everybody has dark times where they believe something wrong to be right, you shouldn't be judging the project based off its author, but based off the story. And honestly the story kills off all characters, so im also not a fan, but it was well made and some fight scenes were pretty epic. The story wasnt very satisfying though
The moment I remembered Toriel is written to be blamed for leaving her husband when he "needed her the most", immediately reminded me of Camilla standing up for her boyfriend despite him inappropiately messaging children...
To be as fair as possible… Isn’t that sorta right? You ARE expected to be there for your spouse, regardless of gender, as your grief is often together. Furthermore, Toriel didn’t JUST abandon Asgore. She abandoned the KINGDOM. She was the QUEEN. Regardless of your grief, abandoning your people in their darkest times is unacceptable.
1:10 just in case no one answered When Nyx and Jael spoke out about Camila, Jael told Camila to take the reanimated version down since she didn't want to associate or support her anymore and Camila did just that. A shame since it was my introduction to series, but if I were Jakei I would have done the same.
@@yes8828 The short version is that she defended child predators who were actively s*xually gr*oming children under her watch, a wide variety of bigotry including racism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism, and a history of art tracing. Relevantly to the original comment, since a lot of people aren't aware of this, Jakei and Nyx were also heavily involved in the Glitchtale predator stuff and while they're nowhere near as bad as Camila outright telling gr*oming victims that they were at fault for their own abuse, the two of them are not innocent in any sense of the word, Nyx in particular promised a victim who had come forwards to him that he'd take action on their behalf and then ghosted them, and repeatedly made coercive threats of su*cide(both directly and by implying that he was afraid Jakei was going to do it) against that same victim and likely others.
I used to watch Glitchtale when I was younger and it was one of my favorites. But going back on it now with seeing other shows like Underverse, so many things could be changed, but I will only list a few. -The hate turning into a red evil thing. Even as a kid I was confused -Second timeline where Asriel and Chara make and Chara lives. This was unneeded. -Frisk being evil. Just a dumb idea after being shown as a golden child. The good things were the fight scenes, but even most of those were traced and I am just sad at what this series could be. However it had its ups besides the fights -Sans remembering frisk after the transfer, which I though was a cool detail -Betty's backstory. I thought it made enough sense and was reasonable. -Finally, Undyne. She was the greatest character in hype moments and feels the embodiment of Never Giving Up I truly Wish Camilia actually put effort into this AU
2:38 This somewhat broke me when I found out it was mostly traced. That exact segment of the fight scene between Frisk and Betty was, at the time, something I saw as proof of how far Camila had come throughout her animation journey. Being an aspiring animator back then, I remember looking back frame-by-frame of that animation, trying to reverse-engineer how exactly Camila animated that, since it looked genuinely impressive, as if it was animated by somebody who knew what they were doing. To find out that the movements were traced honestly crushed me. Perhaps I was/am overreacting, but that animation segment was truly special to me, so to find out it hadn't really been animated by Camila didn't sit right with me, and it soured my view on the series.
9:47 i remember saying something like this i think in a different analysis video but specifically for betty getting redeemed i feel like a way for her to be redeemed was to make her a victim of circumstances she is the soul of fear she embodys the fear of monsters but it would've been great writing if she spilled her guts to frisk at some point and frisk was trying to help her however betty due to her fear takes the hate vial and that makes her more erratic and violent thus resulting in her lashing out and fighting with frisk/Chara but perhaps if we got gaster learning to forgive we can have betty fight the hate and understand that its okay to be afraid and accepting of monsters takes time because at least from what i understand of the lore betty was made from spite and was meant to just bring an end to the monsters out of fear it would've been great if frisk could have talked to her and helped her get better and not be just "I must kill all monsters cuz im evil" it would've made her character so much better and if camilla wanted to have a brutal scene of gaster destroying her have betty beg to be put down as the hate takes her over thus getting gaster to forguve her while also having betty be redeemed by having the actions during the fight be not her own so much squandered potential
Glitchtale is like the undertale edition of original dormitabis why because both where supposed to be unofficial sequels and fan retelling of there prospective games and both there creator where exposed to be terrible people and both went from being loved to being one of the most hated fan projects in there prospective community's
A major problem is just how poorly things were explained. For example, Frisk. Frisk being ‘erased’ from reality doesn’t work how a lot of people thinks it does. Frisk himself was erased from the MEMORY of people and physically no longer exists in the present day. That’s why Monsters are free on the surface. Frisk’s ACTIONS, and the CONSEQUENCES of those actions still remain, it’s just that nobody remembers WHO did it. If Frisk HAD been utterly erased to the point of having never existed, then the Monsters would literally never be freed and would still be trapped underground. This is literally never explained properly or even elaborated on. And as such, it creates massive misunderstandings and misconceptions that are ultimately Glitchtale’s own fault for not explaining that clearly. Another example is how Betty was even killed. It’s explained extremely early that the only way to counter and kill Betty is with Determination magic… … The problem is, is that THIS DISTINCTION is never made. And yes, there IS a distinction because it’s also established in Glitchtale that certain monsters can use Determination magic, primarily Undyne and Gaster. We’re lead to believe, due to poor explaining, that only humans with Determination souls like Frisk and Chara can kill Betty, but the truth is that anyone wielding Determination magic can, hence why Undyne was able to nearly kill Betty and why Gaster eventually finished the job. Again, these are only some of the biggest examples, but Glitchtale is RIDDLED with plot details that were outright explained in outside material like Camila’s tumblr posts, instead of being in the series itself.
Glitchtale is a series that did not hold up because at the time it was great when everyone was in there undertale preteen or teenage phase but now taking off the nostalgia glasses off it was never good also after the whole Camila cuevas drama and everything to do with her only made glitchtale even worst after knowing what the creator has done
Yeah, prior to the Camilla drama I don't think I saw a single video criticizing Glitchtale. But after Camilla's sins were revealed, people started looking back at her work for missed red flags and........
@@DrawciaGleam02 Exactly this, it's so annoying that people only have the balls to criticize this AU after the whole controversy. It wasn't terrible in the first season IMO but once it got into the second and Betty was introduced it quickly became unlikable.
If you can write a good story and animate decently, do it. Underverse is ending soon. People will either see themselves out or be looking for the next thing.
@@CaitEden53 the animation in glitchtale at the beginning at first wasn't that good either! it's pretty quick to learn the basics and after that you can gradually improve, i personally find it cool when people start out a series while still being new to animation and then just seeing how much their skills improve as the series progresses
Wow, actual words from Camila, “Let’s be real here, you don’t deserve an apology for being groomed.” My gosh, how did this fly by her fans?? That kinda makes me wonder if Beté was a self insert, because that’s a pretty frickin’ evil thing to say.
Glitchtale was cool when it was just silly non-canon stories in Undertale's canon setting. Like, yeah, Frisk blocking an attack from The Demon That Comes When You Call It's Name while it's possessing both their body and soul is a little weird, but maybe they were just pulling from that mutual Determination pool, Determination is an ability made of asspulls almost by definition. Gaster is whooping the shit out of Frisk for little reason, ok, but it's cool watching Gaster fight. The timeline is breaking, wild things are happening? Whatever, it's just an excuse to play with cool toys in the setting you couldn't before. It didn't need to be taken seriously, you know? As long as it made sense if you squint at it, it was good. Well, once Camila left the cozy walls of Undertale's canon, and put more emphasis on continuity, it all kind of fell apart. I watched it all the way through as it released, because I was invested in having fun with the characters, but by the end I was just kind of sick of it, it was moreso the sunk cost fallacy than anything. I do think that there was plenty of room for improvement, and my understanding of things was a little more fun than what it ended up as by the time you were reading. I do like the *idea* of Betty, my understanding was that she was not a human or a monster but a living spell made purely out of the malice of her creator, a woman who forsook her own identity for the sake of vengeance. Usually, an idea personified is like a demon, a deity, or some primal spirit, but here it's someone's will given a form, one that was stolen from an innocent. I think that idea is a fun one to play with, because there is the question of if such a thing is redeemable or even sentient, it's almost like a magical version of the AI question. Camila also did a lot of characters dirty. Alphys died for no real reason. Gaster lost for basically no reason. Undyne didn't get to finish Betty off just because. Frisk committed mortis to undie Chara because their character was assassinated, and that just ruined everything for all time. Sans died to make the audience go "OH NO!" and then was sort of still around for no reason, came back for no reason, and re-died for no reason. I remember being pretty livid about that one. Everyone is just kind of written for convenience. I feel like if she wanted to write this, she should have put a lot more effort into getting it all set up nicely before doing anything.
I watched Glitchtale with my pals a year back. At first we laughed at the ugly art and the surface-level characterization of the cast, but then it all fell apart. It really had a poor grasp on the characterization of the cast. Chara is either an evil no-nuance murderer or a blank slate for Camila to project her action shonen fight scenes onto. Frisk is chopping off people's limbs with no remorse and is revealed to be a sadist who reset the timeline over and over, which is... a severe misunderstanding of Undertale's themes if Camila thinks the main character is responsible for this and not *the player*. Papyrus cries all the time and hardly ever displays his trademark arrogance and optimism. Undyne is never, ever her loud and boisterous self. And as you said, Toriel is an evil witch for leaving her husband in his time of need and for not forgiving him for what he did to the other humans. The human cast was all so forgettable, barring Betty and Jessica. My favorite moment was when we saw the backstory of one of them and a truck hit their car at a *sideways angle* when they were driving a car up a mountain. Undyne also spent a large amount of time with this one male OC, which some of us suspected was a love interest for her. Great optics to get rid of the canon gay relationship and replace the lesbian's girlfriend with a man, right? Jessica is an inherently hilarious character to me. Alphys, one of the main cast members, dies unceremoniously (because she's the only monster without combat powers) and never comes back. Meanwhile, the CEO of Racism gets to have a pathos-filled dramatic death scene because she's Camila's speshul OC donut steel. Also there's the fact that Camila decides out of nowhere to make Frisk and Chara boys. Screw you, Camila. They're not boys and they're not girls. The final fight was so boring I was scrolling on my phone because we had so little investment in the giant human blob fight. The art was absolutely hideous (I want to say who gets it worse, but everyone looked really bad...) Papyrus has a human mouth, Chara and Asriel had terrible haircuts, Toriel and Asgore's faces looked uncannily human... not to mention their signature eye-catching outfits were completely replaced by boring T-shirts and pants. Costume design, what is it? Glitchtale is good if you're 12 and you're really into fight scenes and power-scaling but have little media literacy or comprehension of Undertale's characterization and its themes. If you search up "glitchtale" on Tenor, you may find gifs of the fight scenes captioned with "In line with Undertale's themes". That's our fault.
@@gamerbeast3616 That's cool! I don't care because despite her animations looking good visually, her grasp on character design and anatomy is bad. Source: I minor in art at college and took a character design class.
The literal only thing I know about Glitchtale is that when I saw the title, my inner 11-year-old said, "What?? I like Glitchtale :(" So, curious to see where this goes.
@@imaghost2961to be fair, it was a lot of our childhood shows, so i get the nostalgia bias (i have it too) but yes stop supporting them and also seperate the creation from the creator, you can still like it, just not support the creator
@@imaghost2961 I didn't mean I currently like it (though I don't believe art made by bad people shouldn't be enjoyed; you can like it without supporting its creator). I don't have much of an opinion anymore, other than that it sounds poorly written and the animation looks nice. But I thought it was neat that this thing I now know absolutely nothing about re-awoke my inner 11-year-old's feelings like that
@@thelivingliver6715 Sorry, wasn’t trying to be rude. I kind of forgot that you can separate art from the creator. After all I do love Harry Potter, but I don’t support JK.Rowling. It was a big part of my childhood so I can’t help but still love it. I just… really hate Camilla. What kind of sick monster says that a victim of grooming doesn’t deserve an apology? The fact that she had the guts to even say that when a ton of people were listening makes me wonder what she thinks about when no one is around.
@@-salmather Sorry. Wasn’t trying to insult you or anything. I just take this stuff very seriously. I can definitely say that the animation is good. Although, at least I thought that until I learned about the tracing. I actually was proud of how much she improved over time. Sucks that she’s an evil, disgusting person. But anyway, sorry. Wasn’t trying to be rude to you. I forget about the whole separating art from the artist thing sometimes.
I feel like Glitchtale WOULD have been a good AU had it not been made by Camila. It had so much potential to be something great, but was squandered heavily because of the person behind it being god awful at everything and not only that but when people criticized her work, she reacted like a damn child. Also, damn, this comment section makes me feel old. lol I was 20 when Glitchtale came out and I watched it for a bit and lost interest fairly quickly. The idea of Glitchtale is a neat concept but it needs to be executed well, which, Camila did not even try at all to do her best at making a compelling story. You can tell she didn't care about a damn thing because she didn't even bother trying to understand any of the characters nor the story, it's like she didn't play Undertale at all and just.. read a summary of it.
I mean she even forgot the gaster powers he have on season 1 to season 2 like in season 1 gaster could copy/mimic someones attack using his purple hand if i not wrong he did that with sans blaster on the episode 2 season 1 yet darker, but in the rest of the season he never used again lmao
Not to mention that the Finale of Glitchtale did... NOT help at all. It was disappointing. The point of a finale is to tie everything together, so I had the hope that it would somehow tie in this entire story and make some crazy plot twist... but it didn't. We had some weird argument with an OC's mother that we did not care about. For some reason, Hate being a little sad while dying WAS the plot twist that made some people freak out?? But as someone who just watched and didn't read the background optional stuff going on, I had no idea Hate was even an OC! I just thought it was HATE. As in the collection of HATE from a timeline where the Genocide run happened, as a consequence for Frisk's actions. I legit had no idea this was a person?? (And it shouldn't be a person imo, it should be consequence.) Death in this series also was treated terribly. Camila especially outside of it pushed for us to move on from characters. Which is what the finale showed as well was to "just move on" and that's not exactly a message you should get from death imo. It's a weirdly pushy idea and Camila seemed genuinely upset whenever fans talked about dead characters they missed. Something was off about the whole thing. We could have had a better message, that people die and you can remember them, live for the ones you lost, and see the world they left behind. The world they effected and now you must keep alive. Instead we were told "just move on" and it feels like a forced narrative. Also they were strangely against shipping of any kind. Idk what that was about. Imo the ending feels like they were done with writing this series. Like they just wanted to get it done and go. Instead of a tie in, we got a time skip?? Instead of coming out of this with a choice of pacifism or not, we get an anime fight for a character that we knew nothing about. The fight was predictable and there was just nothing to it. I would happily skip the last fight entirely because there was just no substance.
tbf the whole Hate being an actual living being wasn't even revealed when the episode dropped. It was just a stupid reveal done to kinda promote GT Season 3 which was meant to be a prequel. This is extremely funny since the series got cancelled and we never got a proper answer about who Hate fully was meant to be.
Oh, I hated the mother scene so much. She had the worst reasons to justify herself (like intended) but then the whole counter-argument of Ronan was just "But Rave is good and he helped so you shouldn't say that". And the death stuff was so funny. Camila was so enraged because she saw ppl missing Sans as them being fangirls and so she wanted to make fun of them for no reason that to be an asshole. Idk if she said anything about ppl missing Alphy (most ppl even forgot she died) or Jessica.
Bro... I DESPISED Rave's abusive mother part the most! Even there was an OC (forgot his name) defending him did NOT help me at all! Seriously I keep skipping just to get out of that part, 'cause hell no I would tolerate this scene with those OCs which I don't care! (Specially Rave's mom...)
24:22 To whoever asks this question: Because we need to experience bad examples to analyse and understand what to do and what not to do in writing. And to be able to recognise what is actually done well.
I remember my sibling wanted to show me a difference between a "stereotypical" bad anime fight with a lot of long pauses and over-explaining of powers and a great anime fight scene. This was the example for the bad anime fight scene.
That's odd. Over explanation? The entire point of this critique is that the powers weren't explained well enough, so i'm sorry but i believe your sibling pulled out the wrong example.
18:12 Ok so basically The orange hair girl actually had the inverse trait, FEAR now (explains why her hair is brown). So now she reversed her soul to be FEAR, she technically has a trait and now can use magic technically
You know i really want somebody to try to remake glitchtale while using all the characters present in it. In this theoretical remake tbey can change the backstory of any character yes even betty they can change plot holes and fix bad writing
You know, I was thinking of remaking the whole story in the future but I felt...ehhhhh sounded like a silly idea to do...and probably get sued by you know who.. the one created the mary sue oc insert.
Check put Undertale: Glitched Universe. It's literally a rewrite of Glitchtale with all the same characters, and they rewrote and Reanimated the Gaster vs Betty and Chara anr Asriel vs Hate fights already on TH-cam.
@@imaghost2961 personnely i feel like betty was wasted potential like super wasted potential. The whole fear soul thing seemed interesting but other than that it would have been better if they just either revamped her ability remade her backstory and got rid of the amount of fights she was able to run from
I've actually entertained this once or twice, since there's so many ways, some insanely simple, to fix the story. Like how (spoilers, ig) It's hinted that Betty and Akuma are 2 different people a few times, yet it just ... And then it Turns out they're 2 halves of the same being. Like, good lord that's such a wasted opportunity. Imagine if they actually were separate people (Amber and... That bravery wizard, i forget her name), and at first they're working together, as Betty is convinced monsters are evil thanks to Akuma Then, say, both of them see a human child crying, having gotten lost in museum or zoo. Then a monster approaches, and Betty expects the monster to try and kill (this would be in the wake of all the monster hatred stirred up by The two's antics). But instead, said monster helps the child find their parents. (For this i imagine the monster is Lesser Dog, but honestly any of the lesser known monsters could work) That could be such a good Epiphany moment for Betty, to realize monsters weren't as bad as Akuma was making them out to be.
Q: what is akumu? Answer: Akumu apparently is part of Bete noir. Betty and Akumu are two halves of the Bete noir and when she stabbed and merged with the other half bete noir became whole. She literally says before she does it that she wasn't used to being split in two.
it's so hilarious that the fandom fell apart and only reappears once a month just for another video critique. turning the entire comment section into group therapy session. as camilla once replied to our huge fan project that consisted of many talented animators and top composers and which took over a year to make: "i'm proud of this community" (yeah, that was the entire comment)(fun times)(never again)
I'm actually of the opinion that GT frisk was a "decently" written character. It was a nice contrast to the cinnamon bun frisk we see literally everywhere in fan depictions and was a decent substitute for what the depiction of "The Player" usually is in regards to UT. It wasn't perfect, but it's a friggin shame that they get Thanos snapped halfway through the damn show and replaced with a much more 1 dimensional counterpart. I think Chara would be fine if they weren't so bland. Although Chara "wasn't the best person", that comment in UT is mostly because of Asriel knowing how much Chara absolutely loathed humanity. The idea of Chara being a hero is fine, as long as they have flaws which in regards to the latter half of GT, they don't have.. like at all...
.... Chara could have been used as a model that a bad person can still save the world. If Betty had been someone under a spell- Amber, under a spell- and Chara, who famously hates everyone, had broken that spell and saved her, Wouldn't that have been a nice message? ÓvÒ
I never watched Glitchtale so when I saw Betty for the first time I thought she was just some badly made Undertale OC by someone who never played the game before. Turns out I was right the whole time
To me I just thought the fan arts were cool and moved on, completely uninterested in any other AUs other than the ones with Sanses that child-me had weird crushes on lol
Actually, I'd argue that she doesnt have any justification at all. I haven't seen anyone talking about it, but Jessica was a confirmed deadbeat mother. She was always ignoring her daughter and prioritizing work over her, and just wasnt taking care of her, thats why that girl ran away in the first place. So not only did she got away with murdering people, but she also got away with being a horrible mother.
Agreed. Asgore may have been the one to deal the killing blow, as far as we know, and he shouldn't get off scot-free for that, but at the same time there's a chance that wouldn't have happened at all if she had just done her job as a mother. I understand losing a loved one can be a hard thing to handle, in this case her husband, but she still had her daughter. I mean, nobody goes up to Mount Ebott for a happy reason (Chara certainly didn't) so the neglect must've been pretty extreme to make her own daughter think that doing so was a good idea. Heck, you could even argue that she's at least partly responsible for her own daughter's death.
@@dragonblade3891, she is responsible, at least partly. Why would a child run away from their parent/s if they were being well taken care of? Sure, she probably would've been curious and still check the place out, but I highly doubt she would've jumped.

This video is fantastic, and all of your grievances are completely valid and deserved, and I really liked watching/listening to this! But I am mentally stuck on the fact that Glitchtale's creator drew the skeletons with like... two sets of teeth. I can't get past the visual of that, it's so awful.
every time I think of Glitchtale, I just reimagine scenes in it but with entire jjk scenes replacing them. Here's a list of stuff I reimagined. - "Ah yes, my Rhabdophobia technique I haven't used since the medieval era." said Betty after stealing Gaster's attack - "Based on your soul and magic energy," said Frisk Undertale "all the info my Determination is telling me your Sans Undertale. BUT ALL THE TIMELINES ARE TELLING ME OTHERWISE, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU." Betty then revealed the truth, opening Sans' chest to revealed a soul filled with hate. - After being hit by the Indomitable Human Spirit, Chara thinks, "I wanted to reject them, I wanted to take down the pinnacle of the Surface World, and the monster kind that I ended up rejecting after my reawakening. I filled my soul with Hate, twisting me into something I truly wasn't, to affirm myself. Yet it ended up being the thing that made me lose." Frisk stood there, seeing Chara's expression. "That look, that's the look of someone who thinks they lost," Frisk said, "but you spoke truth, I am you." Chara is bewildered. "I performed that genocide out of malice, killing those truly innocent. We both wanted the best for the underground, but fell to temptation of the genocide" Frisk pauses in her speech "With that said, any last words?" Chara ponders for a second, "My brother, Asriel, he will truly become the hope of monster kind... take care of him for me... *partner" Then Chara dies Master Oogway style, turning into buttercup flowers.
Betty: (getting her ass kicked by the fighter of the episode) Camila-chan, save me!! Fun fact, this was my groomer’s favorite Undertale AU and she’d make me watch the episodes even though I told her I didn’t like it. She got me to do fanart too, saying she’d pay me for it but she never did.
The neither human nor monster thing is just stolen from Flowey- the whole reason Alphys pulled her determination experiments in the first place was so that Flowey could absorb the human souls and the DT filled Amalgamates souls to break the barrier-
honestly, if I were to write Betty, I would make her human. She has a human body. Her soul is still the same shape and with a trait, like a human. We can make nonstandard humans and monsters.
betty's the majin buu of undertale. she's pink, no redeeming qualities, killed a lot of people, is overpowered and just doesn't fucking die for the 84th time. the difference is that one was a chaotic black air force menace that was fun to watch and the other is a failed excuse of an edgelord.
Oh god it brought back memories, I remember commenting under Camilla’s video once and I was 14-15 about how I like her animation and when is the next episode is planning to be released, but she was kinda rude replying smth like “Don’t you know that animation takes a lot of time”
Just a heads up, Camila made Frisk and Chara boys near the end of Season 2... so yeah, no more ambiguity, kinda like how Underverse has XTale's Frisk and Chara as boys... except that was established from the get-go...
to be fair, atleast underverse didnt try to treat xchara and xfrisk as 1:1 carbon copies of the OG's, whereas camilia straight up retconned frisk and chara's ambiguous genders to fit her own headcanon
@@decimalheckery5737 ... Toby has literally stated that the reason why Frisk and Chara were not given genders in the game was specifically so that the person playing can decide one way or the other. Frisk and Chara can be boys, girls, non-binary, gender fluid, anything. It is up to the person playing the game to decide. So, unfortunately, Camila making them boys does fit in the canon, same as if someone made them girls.
@@stevesavy3368That's not actually true. That was a rumor started in 2016 on tumblr that was debunked a few months after it was first spread, as proof of toby claiming this was never found anywhere. Not even in screenshots or on the Internet Archive.
Xtale chara and frisk are boys cuz they literary aren't undertale frisk and chara but a whole different worlds ver tho. Hence why they look so different
18:26 consider this a theory but as shown the powers tie to their emotional state. Upon losing the orange lady felt weak, pathetic, cowardly. Thus losing her trait or bravery. Upon discovering the inverted spell and see its results she managed to get some bravery back albiet demented due to the messed up stuff she's planning to do. Allowing her to use magic chamging her soul and now give into her bitter and cowardice since that will actually give her power now. Also the reason that the determination soul lost their magic is because they literally saw what was the closest thing to their own sibling kill what was essentially their adopted daughter in cold blood. That sight would either go two ways unyielding rage at the cause or fearful denial at the effect.
I feel like Glitchtale spawned out of the part of the fandom that laser-focused on the No Mercy route, that interprets Frisk/Chara as an unstoppable supervillain who revels in the carnage they cause until they're finally confronted by Sans in a Sick Anime Fight, and either they finally overcome him and kill everyone, or Sans beats them by killing them one too many times and they give up and start over to hopefully not kill people this time. Except Glitchtale did that in its first episode (the first episode itself was originally just another of the _many_ variations of the trope before it was turned into a full series) and then after the fact Camila had to actually come up with something other than "Chara kills everyone and gets beaten up by the funny skeleton." Ultimately the series never _really_ moves away from this trope, we just get another child with bobbed brown hair and a striped shirt who has no good qualities and can only be defeated by killing her until she stops coming back to life, just like the way a lot of No Mercy-specific fans depicted Chara. Lacking the structure of the game to inform how the conflict between the protagonists and antagonists develops, we just get ass-pull after ass-pull. We _know_ how the No Mercy route goes. The player oneshots 90% of the monsters, struggles with Undyne the Undying, Mettaton Neo goes lol, and then the player gets whomped by Sans for a few hours before finally beating him. But without that skeleton (rimshot), Camila has to invent her own reasons for the fights to end, and, not wanting to fall back on the "Bad guy kills everyone and then there's a reset" idea, we get Betty's ever-increasing platter of powers and characters just standing there while she runs away. As for the way Frisk and Chara's characters are handled in Season 2, I think someone just showed Camila the theories that Chara was not, in fact, an omnicidal maniac from the get-go, and only became one due to the player's actions, and, lacking a tangible "player" in her world, simply decided to make Frisk themselves the player. (I actually wouldn't mind betting that Deltarune makes Kris and the player _explicitly_ separate entities because a lot of people didn't pick up on that detail when it was implicit in _Undertale,_ and didn't get that it was part of the game's metanarrative. A lot of fanworks, being less meta than the game itself, also lack any tangible influence from the player in them) Being the stand-in for the non-present player, Frisk was therefore responsible for everything. Ergo, Frisk caused the No Mercy runs because they were bored of pacifism and curious about the bad ending (the sort of thing that has motivated people to try the No Mercy run IRL), and caused the Glitch... somehow, like a player intentionally pushing the game in a specific way to cause it to bug out, like a speedrunner making their character headbutt a wall in a specific way in order to clip through the world and run straight to the end of the level. Things that _would_ make sense if this was still a game making meta-commentary on games, or even a web series making commentary on games, but don't in a series that's rapidly becoming nothing to do with games and just becoming a chimera of Undertale AU tropes from people who Didn't Get It and a poor man's RWBY.
I don't normally comment on videos, but you're on the money about Frisk in this. I joined one of Camila's animation streams back in I think ???? 2016 ???? and asked an innocent, genuine question out of curiosity in the chat about how Frisk was being portrayed as what felt like a villain. Camila happened to notice my message in chat and got so angry at me me for asking this and straight up made me feel like trash for even asking because Obviously Frisk is Irredeemably Evil and Bad and The Problem. 😭 She in fact never explained where this interpretation came from, just that it was the Only Correct Interpretation and that I should feel bad for questioning her AU. 😭
the sad thing for me is that i used to love this series, but it’s because i was unable to see all the batshit insane plotholes and misuses of tropes over and over edit: the only possible justifications i have for some of glitchtale are: frisk giving their soul to chara possibly means the ownership of the timeline changes, which would mean that since the origin anomaly no longer exists it can fix the timeline?? bette gaining bullshit powers might be because of her trait leeching off of the fear of losing that her opponents may have, or something like that either way these are still asspulls, comment if you agree or disagree
21:00 if this is true, then betty is broken beyond belief because a common rule in undertale is the human with the most amount if determination has access to the timeline. If betty can understand whats happening in the underground AND knows what happened in frisks then this suggests that suggests that they have some sort of control over the time line, meaning she has as much determination as frisk.
I ain't gonna lie Betty is overscaled and is genuinely not that powerful in the glitchtale verse as people tend to perceive her as she nearly got beaten several times and was eventually fully put down by Gaster
mama mia this is even worse than my undertale inspired magic system/setting (Monsters generate magic. Humans Hold magic. In a "generator VS Battery" system. with the return of monsters also being a return to magic, smoothing over most anti-monster sentiments. While they integrate into human society, there is only one problem: Humans using magic to start doing crime. and now it's up to an ex-criminal to learn magic and buddy-cop their way into keeping the peace and prevent harsh(er) anti-magic regulations.)
I hate how chara is always interpreted in the fandom because they didnt really.. do anything? The only notable things that they did was commit suicide, and in turn get asriel killed, and then erase the world when there was nothing left. Even then, they do bring the world back if you wait long enough. Edit: yall need to calm down lmao
LITERALLY SO TRUE have they never seen the countless videos explaining that we are the villains and we are forcing chara to watch all their friends die 😭 in the genocide route theyre mind broken they didn't force us (or frisk) to do shit edit ; there's a great video explaining it called "who is the true villain of undertale?" By fleur marigold It has a second part too that expands on chara as a character
Chara encourages you throughout the entire Genocide Route. They erased the world because you've already maxed out stats, not because there is nobody left to kill. The Underground has thousands of survivors.
@@merodipurinThat video has been debunked. It twists evidence and manipulates the viewer. It conveniently ignores every single moment where Chara gladly assists you throughout the route.
It would’ve been interesting if the glitch was the reversal between humans and monsters, where humans are underground and monsters are the ones that ruled the surface.🐱
or the glitch being somehow characters were getting random memories from other timelines/aus (i.e sans and undyne could remember parts of horrortale and pap could remember parts of disbelief or for aus flowey could gain some of his underfell memories)
If I were to rewrite Glitchtale I would rather change the story by not having the First Season exist. Had the typical Chara bad story plotline and Frisk being a hypocrite. Why not have Glitchtale be an alternate timeline where after Frisk finishes the No Mercy Route and switch to Pacifist, their ending will be different aka horrify-okay you know what because Glitchtale was horrible why not I make my own AU. Originally this was a Glitchtale rewrite but here is my idea in general. In this AU this takes place after Frisk completed the No Mercy Run and then after that finished the Pacifist Run. To make things interesting Frisk did the No Mercy run due to being paranoid over Flowey's Motto. Like a scared kid they defeated all the monsters until they decided to reset after Chara appears. In this AU Frisk tries their best to enjoy their time with their friends. But sadly...things go awry as a new villain shows up and slowly defeats every single monster. It takes on a dark the boy who cry wolf mentality as Frisk tries to hide what happened but this glitch has a mind of its own. It tries to destroy every monster because it represents Frisk or living embodiment of the Lost Six Humans. Meanwhile there wil be human characters but only a bare mininum. One of them is a guardian who lost a child during the War. As a result said guardian tries to overshelter the humans as they become spiteful against the monaters. Another are the parents of Frisk who are upset on Frisk escaping their protection. As fiascos ensue Frisk has no choice but to solve the situation before the impostor destroys monsterkind. As for the main cast. Alphys and Undyne are enjoying their time together. Alphys though struggles to deal with the backlash regarding the Amalgamates. While Undyne deals with supporting others but also dealing with the conundrum of telling Papyrus on his royal guard status. Then we have Toriel and Asgore trying to help Frisk but also deal with either fixing their relationship as a couple...or try their best to make amends and their separate ways. As for Sans...well he actually serves as our reluctant antagonist. He is suspicious of Frisk's attitude and gets more serious. Now to be fair while Sans has knowledge of science of timelines he doesn't know or remember timelines. He does care for Frisk but still feels Frisk is hiding something. Meanwhile his brother Papyrus tries to deal with the hardships of being a royal guard and his older brother's issues. As for Flowey...well since he's THE TRUE one who knows the timelines. He would kind of serve as a perfect wild card. And for Chara...well they will appear later in the story.
I personally really like Betty. At least in the first half of season 2. Heck, I'm making my own version of Betty called Light Eclat Betty (Light Eclat being an anagram of Glitchtale like Deltarune is for Undertale). The idea is that Frisk eventually brings everyone who was consumed by Hate back to life following Papyrus' example, even Betty herself. During her time being controlled by Hate, only being able to watch but not act in any way, Betty realized the futility of what she thought was her purpose. It's a purpose that is not even hers, and now it led her to losing control of her body forever (she didn't expect Frisk to save her), so she really starts to doubt this whole thing was even worth it in the first place. Besides, we can see from a lot of tiny elements scattered throughout the beginning of season 2 that Betty is someone who does want to be included and accepted. Like, she says she went to the school to see if she could fit in, and that could have been a lie, but we see in the exposition scene at the beginning that she was there, but she didn't dare to approach. And Frisk manages to find a way to free her from the Hate (also in my version, Betty and Frisk know each other since the Monsters went to the surface, because it makes no sense that Frisk would bring this random girl she just met to an extremely important meeting). After all, Betty is basically a young child. She was unconscious for millenias, from her creation up until she woke up not so long before season 2 started. She has no experience in anything, she has nobody to guide her. All she knows is that she was given a purpose, and she doesn't really have the tools to question if maybe she shouldn't do it. Sure, Betty could be a heartless creature only bent on destruction and who doesn't actually care about being accepted, but there are elements inside and outside of the series that say otherwise. Her scene with Kumu before they attack the school shows that she does have feelings. Anyway back to Light Eclat, after being saved, she would have lost the will to fulfill Agate's purpose and would want look for her own, but she would also have to face the consequences of her actions. And Frisk would help her because while Betty hurt them and the people they love, they know more than anyone else what it's like to make mistakes, and that what Betty needs is help, but after what she's done, nobody will want to give it to her, at least not for a while. So Frisk decides that they will help Betty because with help and support, they were able to change, and they think that Betty can too. Betty has to wear an irremovable bracelet filled with Kindness magic that blocks her powers (since blocking is Kindness' thing), for safety reasons. They wouldn't let her on the loose just like that. Also she'd probably have to face a trial for her actions. I imagined this scene where Betty is at Frisk's place and, since Betty likes eating souls but obviously she can't and won't do that, Frisk pulls out Mettaton's soul flavored condiment that appears in the cooking show in the game. Frisk was thinking of baking a cake or a pie with it but Betty, being unaware of what it's meant to be used for, just starts eating the condiment as is. I feel like Betty not knowing anything about how to live in society could bring both funny and heartfelt moments. I haven't really figured out all the other elements of the story because I've been lacking motivation for quite a while by now, but I think this really has potential. But what do you think ?
Y'know, as someone who was a huge fan of Glitchtale when it was still an ongoing project, I always remembered it as the coolest thing at the time and looked back on it fondly... _Until now_ Now, granted, I was a dumb kid back when Glitchtale was still being animated, and couldn't really grasp the concept of plot holes and story inconsistencies due to me being more focused on "EPIC ANIME FIGHT SCENES, WHOA!!!!!" and have never come around to rewatch it ever since it pretty much ended (Or, at least, it's been long enough since I last rewatched it to not remember it clearly enough) But now, having watched this video running through the horrendous flaws and flawed nature of Glitchtale, I can safely say that this shit is SO ASS!!!!!!!! I am so glad that I've gotten into watching media and character analysis videos 'cuz this video did such an amazing job at pointing out what NOT to do when writing a story! I am- GENUINELY gonna use this video as a reference to make sure I'm not doing shit wrong for the story I'm writing 'cuz GOL-LY DID CAMI BUTCHER THIS SO BAD LMAO Also, speaking of Cami- I DID NOT KNOW SHE WAS INVOLVED IN SUCH HORRENDOUS CONTROVERSY UNTIL NOW?????? A couple years ago, I tried to rewatch Glitchtale and as someone who used to love Season One back when I was seven years old, I was genuinely lost and confused by the final episode. When I first saw Betty I genuinely, even when I was young, thought she was a self insert of Camila’s. All I’ve learned after a rewatch is that Glitchtale is a show for babies that can’t think coherent thoughts
If there's one thing that bothers me about Glitchtale, it's the designs. Betty's design is terrible in my opinion, she looks like a generic OC, her colors don't match in a harmonious way as they should in a character and the color palette hurts the eyes (seriously, if I look at Betty for more than 5 minutes I'm sure that when I look back I'll see everything with a greenish-blue filter), in general the designs of the OCs in the series are bad. They were made in a generic way, they all wear a plain sweater of some color or with some pattern of the color of their soul, or they have eyes of the color of their soul, or they have hair of the color of their soul. There should be other alternatives to point out their trait that aren't as generic as a character like Agate Lightvale - she dresses in orange, she has orange eyes and hair, HER SOUL IS THE ORANGE SOUL - and so on with the rest of the characters of the Council (I don't remember her name). Another thing is that Camila said that Glitchtale was not an AU but an AT (Alternative Timeline). Yes it is an AU, to be an AT it shouldn't be- You know... _canon_? Alternative Timeline refers to an alternative space-time IN the game universe, so an AT would work as something CANON in the Undertale universe, and it isn't. It always seemed like an incorrect definition to me. At least that's how I see it. And in fact it contradicts itself by saying that nobody is born with a grey soul, I remember reading a long time ago on the SAME Glitchtale wiki that EVERYONE was born with a grey soul, but that it developed over time, and defined the main trait of the person. And that made WAY MORE SENSE 😭, IMAGINE BEING A NEWBORN AND YOUR PERSONALITY BEING ALREADY DEFINED
i like betty's design honestly. its creative and iconic, it might just be your opinion. The remainder characters though could have been better. Well, glitchtale follows the plot of undertale, and the "surface" part is all imagined. Idk i dont get her thinking

I think glitchtale had so many fans cus kids saw undertale animations and went "yaaay, more undertale!". We did not see the plotholes and such, we just saw characters we liked doing cool battles i guess. Growing up makes you look at it a whole different way.

And by the time the series had actually ended and I developed a couple functioning braincells, I was starting to not enjoy the videos, and was eventually left thinking "the animation got better, there are more fights... but like damn... that's it?"
I genuinely couldn't tell you how it even ends, and I've seen it multiple times at this point.

Camilla have some benefit towards me only because she is the reason why I draw.
Yap, it is the natural progression of the message too. Even Deltarune did it with that King guy.
@aldiascholarofthefirstsin1051 To add to that, the king doesn't even die. He simply gets put in a cage. It's basically saying "sometimes violence can't be avoided, but killing is still a choice." It provides a good counterpoint to Undertale's message without completing disagreeing with it.

Honestly, for the first season, it was fine, the glitches were the main plot point there, season 2's plotholes just dont have an excuse

Oh damn I forgot, thanks man.
The series does this every time, actively trampling over its own potential until all that’s left is a hollow shell of a show that only cares about getting to the next shonen fight scene.
betty was never a debug program what?
I kinda just believe that betty only had that backstory because reality had to give her one or risk making AN EVEN BIGGER glitch happen. It HAD to make one for betty because otherwise a being existing with no pre-existense would risk a bigger glitch. A being existing without no prerequisite(in THAT universe because they weren't meant to be alive)chara and i think we saw how much chaos they caused
@@gulsum6084 good explanation
@@letsplaywithmegacyborg3098read the wiki, you'll see.

Rinse and repeat
To play devil’s advocate really the only thing that kind of shook the cycle was Betty vs undyne, but even then she still pulled out one of her trap cards (the hate vial) before pulling a skeletor and running away. Undyne could’ve decimated Betty if she kept wailing on her before the pink gumball ate the vial

resulting a world where the lost souls swapping destinies with each other.
and the world itself is effected as a result of these changes.
such as Asgore making the Ruins a lovely place, as Toriel does her best to handle human hate as Queen.

And Alphys being a timid royal guard leader that does things she doesn't want to.

Meanwhile Flowey's actively trying to 'befriend' Frisk to attempt regaining the Souls as he's planning something much bigger then his original plan in UT. Since he did NOT get his character moment from his fight.
Give it a read! It's amazing!
It's actually just underswap but if changed roles for the characters actually mattered since they kept their personalities in different setting.
@@ElfinHat96 Calling Inverted Fate just 'underswap' gives it real basic energy.
And it isn't even really true cause only the Lost Souls were swapped and the world is effected as a result. Mettaton is still Mettaton after all.

A good showcase of this is Hotland as a whole being effected by Undyne's... More brutal actions including making reference to the phone calls within UT.
It's better to look at IF as a 'continuation of UT's true pacifist route but if Asriel won his final fight'.

Even as a kid I was confused
-Second timeline where Asriel and Chara make and Chara lives. This was unneeded.
-Frisk being evil. Just a dumb idea after being shown as a golden child.
The good things were the fight scenes, but even most of those were traced and I am just sad at what this series could be.
However it had its ups besides the fights
-Sans remembering frisk after the transfer, which I though was a cool detail
-Betty's backstory. I thought it made enough sense and was reasonable.
-Finally, Undyne. She was the greatest character in hype moments and feels the embodiment of Never Giving Up

It’s explained extremely early that the only way to counter and kill Betty is with Determination magic…
… The problem is, is that THIS DISTINCTION is never made.

@@karmicgal344 does aliza's inclusion in horror tale make it an au despite it taking place long after the events of the og neutral route?

You were 20 when that shit came out? Damn and here I thought I was one of the oldest ex-fans here
Not to mention that the Finale of Glitchtale did... (And it shouldn't be a person imo, it should be consequence.)
Death in this series also was treated terribly.

That bravery wizard, i forget her name), and at first they're working together, as Betty is convinced monsters are evil thanks to Akuma
Then, say, both of them see a human child crying, having gotten lost in museum or zoo. Then a monster approaches, and Betty expects the monster to try and kill (this would be in the wake of all the monster hatred stirred up by The two's antics). But instead, said monster helps the child find their parents. (For this i imagine the monster is Lesser Dog, but honestly any of the lesser known monsters could work)
That could be such a good Epiphany moment for Betty, to realize monsters weren't as bad as Akuma was making them out to be.
Q: what is akumu?
Answer: Akumu apparently is part of Bete noir. Betty and Akumu are two halves of the Bete noir and when she stabbed and merged with the other half bete noir became whole. She literally says before she does it that she wasn't used to being split in two.

If Betty had been someone under a spell- Amber, under a spell- and Chara, who famously hates everyone, had broken that spell and saved her,
Wouldn't that have been a nice message? ÓvÒ
I never watched Glitchtale so when I saw Betty for the first time I thought she was just some badly made Undertale OC by someone who never played the game before. Turns out I was right the whole time

I would read/watch a glitchtale rewrite to see how they patch the 20 billion plot holes like someone trying to repair a leaking boat while in the middle of the sea
@@fadingdreamx one idea that I had was: 8 soul traits representing personality traits with red a “will” and magenta as “self esteem”… determination would be a golden color that no soul would have as a trait…. What I’m saying is that depending on how much determination one has, they have more power, independent of their soul trait.
Everything has potential when changed
This video is fantastic, and all of your grievances are completely valid and deserved, and I really liked watching/listening to this! But I am mentally stuck on the fact that Glitchtale's creator drew the skeletons with like... two sets of teeth. I can't get past the visual of that, it's so awful.
every time I think of Glitchtale, I just reimagine scenes in it but with entire jjk scenes replacing them.
Here's a list of stuff I reimagined.
- "Ah yes, my Rhabdophobia technique I haven't used since the medieval era." said Betty after stealing Gaster's attack
- "Based on your soul and magic energy," said Frisk Undertale "all the info my Determination is telling me your Sans Undertale.
Yet it ended up being the thing that made me lose."
Frisk stood there, seeing Chara's expression.
*partner"
Then Chara dies Master Oogway style, turning into buttercup flowers.

The neither human nor monster thing is just stolen from Flowey- the whole reason Alphys pulled her determination experiments in the first place was so that Flowey could absorb the human souls and the DT filled Amalgamates souls to break the barrier-

A lot of fanworks, being less meta than the game itself, also lack any tangible influence from the player in them)
Being the stand-in for the non-present player, Frisk was therefore responsible for everything.
16:13 Their bodies don’t have enough matter to contain the SUBSTANCE known as determination for very long and so they melt like Undyne does.
the sad thing for me is that i used to love this series, but it’s because i was unable to see all the batshit insane plotholes and misuses of tropes over and over
edit: the only possible justifications i have for some of glitchtale are:
frisk giving their soul to chara possibly means the ownership of the timeline changes, which would mean that since the origin anomaly no longer exists it can fix the timeline??
bette gaining bullshit powers might be because of her trait leeching off of the fear of losing that her opponents may have, or something like that
either way these are still asspulls, comment if you agree or disagree
21:00 if this is true, then betty is broken beyond belief because a common rule in undertale is the human with the most amount if determination has access to the timeline. If betty can understand whats happening in the underground AND knows what happened in frisks then this suggests that suggests that they have some sort of control over the time line, meaning she has as much determination as frisk.
I ain't gonna lie Betty is overscaled and is genuinely not that powerful in the glitchtale verse as people tend to perceive her as
she nearly got beaten several times and was eventually fully put down by Gaster
Betty: "I'll turn all this monsters to dust"
Also Betty: only kills humans
mama mia this is even worse than my undertale inspired magic system/setting
(Monsters generate magic.
LITERALLY SO TRUE have they never seen the countless videos explaining that we are the villains and we are forcing chara to watch all their friends die 😭 in the genocide route theyre mind broken they didn't force us (or frisk) to do shit
edit ; there's a great video explaining it called "who is the true villain of undertale?" By fleur marigold It has a second part too that expands on chara as a character
The fandom seems to have moved passed thinking Chara is the villain, so that's something I guess
Chara encourages you throughout the entire Genocide Route. They erased the world because you've already maxed out stats, not because there is nobody left to kill. The Underground has thousands of survivors.

Check out Versotale, its literally this idea
I absolutely ADORE glitchtale

You had us in the first half not gonna lie
story for glitchtale is good keep haiting

A couple years ago, I tried to rewatch Glitchtale and as someone who used to love Season One back when I was seven years old, I was genuinely lost and confused by the final episode. When I first saw Betty I genuinely, even when I was young, thought she was a self insert of Camila’s. All I’ve learned after a rewatch is that Glitchtale is a show for babies that can’t think coherent thoughts
show is not for babies at all😂
@@gamerbeast3616 the show wouldn’t make sense if you’re thinking about it
If there's one thing that bothers me about Glitchtale, it's the designs.
