Ngl, the voice actor in that last segment put his ALL into that performance. I dont even care for MLP and its setting off my fight or flight with how distressing it was.
IKR??? That voice acting plus animation stuck with me for the entire night the first time I finished that particular MLP infection AU video. It's one of the only MLP infection Au things that genuinely scares the hell outta me just from those last few minutes alone, that dude did such an amazing job all by himself!
OMG!! I was about to watch a random video and enjoy my food, but I didn’t expect my video to show up! I’m so happy to hear your thoughts on the video I made! It felt like I didn’t even recognize my own voice anymore, like I was hearing someone else suffering just from the audio. Don't worry, I slept well that night lol Honestly, I was really hoping someone would make a reaction video to my Swamp Fever. So, it means a lot that someone like you took the time to make a video about my G5 take of swamp fever-thank you! Also fun fact: While you're watching the swamp fever video, you are technically in Sunny's POV (Argyle's Daughter), and your reactions are the same as hers. Thank you so much for sharing my video! I love reading the comments here, too. I’m planning to make a part 2, but it’s going to take some time! To be traumatized b a franchise that I love and am apart of is something i always dread but love and its gotten rare lately so it was suprising to experience that fear and discomfort again!
7:34 just wanted to add some extra context; Pinkamina Diane Pie is actually Pinkie Pie's full name in the show, and the fanon horror side of her most likely comes from her genuinely deflating (hair and all), going paranoid and hallucinating in the episode Party Of One when she thinks her friends don't like her parties or don't want to be her friends. The tonal shift of the this season one episode can definitely be pointed at as at least the start of a lot of the horror side of the mlp fandom despite the fact that she and the tone bounce back to the usual MLP cheer by the end of it
Damn!! That last AU might have been a complete reference to the movie Incantation, where in the end, the Incantation turns out to be a curse, props to whoever voiced Argyle!
The Swamp Fever bit... it's actually not really an "AU (Alternate Universe)". That thing's directly taken from an episode of the show, just being treated much more lighthearted there. That just makes it more horrifying when you actually explore it as horror, realizing the whole thing's pretty much canon.

The thing I love about MLP Infection AUs is seeing all the various ways people make their own version of whatever infections they're doing. This can range anywhere from taking an IRL disease and incorporating it into the MLP world- to taking real infection concepts like Swamp Fever or the "rainbow cookie zombies outbreak" ideas as seen in actual episodes of the show and twisting it into something horrific but plausible. Seriously some of these stick with my mind for days (such as the last one just from those last few minutes of purely well done voice acting alongside the animation alone. As well as how sick the thought of how plausible it could be in canon)
My problem with My Little Pony horror is that most of the time it's not scary, it's just torture p*rn. But there are a few diamonds in the rough, my personal favourite ones being Let Her In and It Moves Below, I highly recommend checking those out. Also, this video made me realise something. Transformation horror is truly the most terrifying of them all. I am now traumatized from Swamp Fever and I don't know whether to thank you for that or resent you for that. Well I guess you helped me find out what makes me tick so... thanks.
Ah yes, MLP Horror. The thing that made me so desensitized to blood & gore that it made me stomach the dirty job of cleaning used surgical tools. Thanks, I guess?
I remember going down the rabbit hole many many years and in all honesty some of the grimmdark readings have a lot of horror concept taste. My personal favorite is Apple Sleep Experiment and it recently had a second part to it that was all the more tragic bit bitterly justified?? Its a little hard to fully explain without spoilers those who are into horror readings like creepypasta level stuff I'd recommend it. That being said please make sure you're okd enough to view these types of content. Love your videos orange and I started bindge watching your latest vids i haven't seen yet
The swamp fever animation at the end is so fucking bone chilling. I saw the tiktoks made by another person who popularized the infection but man seeing it in animation and seeing it all in full animation is so much more different than seeing clips of it. It's so utterly bone chilling. Just imagine yourself in that situation, and turning into someone completely inanimate, with no one to help you. Absolutely fucking amazing
Also I forgot if this was mentioned but these characters are actually canon. Sunny is the protagonist for the new MLP Gen, and Argyle is her late father who died from unknown causes.
Gotta be honest, that bit at the end kinda fucked me up. I tend to not really care much for infection horror, zombies and such just aren't my kinda thing. But something about this hits different for me, idk what it is but it's insane
I usually don’t feel anything when watching horror au videos or analog horror, but that last one had me frozen in fear. That VAs performance was phenomenal 👏🏾
Oh this, I needed this!!! I've been meaning to find another Mlp horror video to watch!!! I had taken a deep dive into Mlp horror last summer and fall so a lot of this stuff are things I've done heavy research on and it's all just so good!!! It does suck that Mlp infection AUs died fast, I genuinely think they're amazing and it sucks that only a few Mlp artists and editors still talk and make stuff related to them. Even so, this is an amazing video!!! I was watching this while doing some schoolwork and ngl, it was soothing lol. Great video like always, Oranges!!!
My Little Pony has given me a newfound appreciation for just how obsessed people can get over random innocuous stuff. It's also given me a lifelong seething hatred of that grey one with the unfocused eyes, but you win some you lose some.
25:26 as much as I love horror sometimes I struggle to comprehend how someone can make horror because I could barely get through this scene. If someone has the stomach to make this then your tough!
off topic, seeing the comments on the cupcakes fanfiction makes me appreciate how people on the internet interacted back then vs now where someone will doxx you if you don't draw a fictional character based on their personal headcanons and interpretations. but this video was nice trip down memory lane of horror! 😊
Personally, I kinda liked Dreamy Rainbow 3. The game starts out in a window and then *all of a sudden* full screen, black, and those two red dots staring back at you. When I first played, I could not see shit. I tried to make out what the hell was in the backgrounds of the darkness and just *barely* made out a face. Of course now I know that it was just a picture of twilight making that crazy face expression from that one episode, but the music and creepy ambience, and the fact that it suddenly turned full screen...it really got me at the time.
i got super into the infection aus when they were popping up everywhere, even downloaded tiktok for it. the amount of creativity and passion that it sparked was awe inspiring. so many artists decided to give horror a shot, and many of them excelled at it
When I think back to MLP horror, I only remember Cupcakes from TV Tropes, Rainbow Factory, and everything Dakari King Mykan made... you should cover him if you haven't already. It's quite the rabbit hole to go down.
I still absolutely love infection AUs, and how creative people are with it. Seeing it spread to other fandoms (haha), was really fun and I'm glad there are still some AUs going on. I'm still planning a couple of my own, but it'll take a while for my lazy ass to make them lmao
Smile HD will forever be in my memory, not because an older sibling decided to show me, but because I found It and traumatized myself. And not gonna lie, I miss that with old TH-cam.
MLP horror has always been a large factor in the community. In fact; the knowledge of this is also present in the show/comics as well. There is cameos like Slender Man as Slender Pony, Rainbow Factory theme song being sampled in "Tanks for the Memories,' and the comics having their own horrific tales that states one multi-verse was so bad that they had to destroy the mirror that leads to it. The show itself seems cute and friendly (which most part is) but they give settle themes that are just being brought back to life due to the tiktok AUs.
I love the horror AU's almost to an obsessive degree. It's one of the reasons I love the concept and execution of zombies. I am so incredibly tempted to make one myself but honestly, I think that something I might make in the future, plus I'm already working on another project and want to finish that first.
They made me sad and reminded me to see them as a child and cry FOR a FULL DAYYYY. (I didn'tknow the first thing about death and torture ), but i still watch them and even draw them. I dont know whyyyyy
I find it a bit funny how little miss rarity started out as horror/grimdark. Then shifted gears to being this general weird setting with its own lore after is basically outlived all the other ask horror blogs. Like whenever people are talking about little miss rarity they mean early little miss rarity.
when I was a kid all the gore-y videos with mlp was horrifying me, but now when I see all the infection AUs it just feel so nostalgic.. But still when I watch another infection vid I'm seriously thinking what is wrong with all of that ppl
These types of stories remind me of that Canon infection called Swamp Fever where ponies turn into trees and that prank that led Rainbow into thinking there was a rainbow cupcake zombie infection. It's basically just stories like these but made to be a lot darker and more parasite-like.
8:34 omg the way I watched the evil fluttershy music video when I was like 6 scares me the most. Just recently I have found out a lot of the MLP fan made vids I used to watch when I was younger had very disgusting meanings behind them.
19:05 This isn't a prediction of the pandemic. That's how literally every single infection horror story goes, because that's the only natural course of action. That's like saying any story that features a car crash predicted every single car crash that happens in the future. I know this is a small thing but I hate whenever people try to claim that a story "predicted" something just because it featured a plot where society takes the most basic and sensible fucking action possible. What about The Walking Dead? 60 Seconds? World War Z? Zombieland? I Am Legend? Did I, Robot predict AI? Or Portal? No. It's based on things that have already been made or already exists and makes the most basic conclusion of a potential future possible. I mean, the fanfic, like almost every other zombie story, takes direct influence from the Black Plague. An actual international pandemic that happened WAYYYY before COVID and that lead to people quarantining because the disease was so rampant. EDIT: Also, the coughing bit is literally just an ode to The Night of the Living Dead, and is a tactic that almost every single modern zombie story uses, including the Walking Dead, the Last of Us, Dying Light, etc.
i'm not a native English speaker, so the first time i encountered the RPG Apple Bloom game on a flash game site at a young age, u can say i was scared shitless while being confuse asf, which make the experience even more terrifying
never considered how the infection au might introduce people to the much more storied history of mlp horror. My print copy of Fallout Equestria is one of my most prized possessions. Long live cupcakes, long live Rainbow Factory, and long live pony horror.
I am so glad I did not finish this video last night. That last segment would have kept me up and it doesn't help that my nickname is in fact Sunny. Just letting it play while I fell asleep I swear to god it could have started a nightmare just from him screaming "SUNNY!!!" over and over.
Okay so let me give some context about the village in Story Of The Blanks. The thing about MLP is that characters CAN die. In generation 5, sunny's father is killed off within the first 5 minutes likely from some random disease or smth. G5 is in the same universe as G4, the one with twi, rdash, rarity, etc. Season 1 episode 1 introduces the villain Nightmare Moon. Her main goal is to keep night going on forever. Doesn't sound threatening right? I thought so too. Then you realize that horses are vegetarian creatures, and crops need sunlight to grow. Nightmare moon was right off the bat gonna kill everyone from painful starvation. Here's the thing about starvation. Your brain eats your muscles to survive after you go a few days without food. She was going to put everyone in equestria through that. But that's not the specific point we are supposed to be talking about now, is it? Season 2 Episode 6 is titled "The Cutie Pox." The Cutie Pox were a HIGHLY infectious disease at the time. There was no known cure. It forces the carrier to be forced to carry more than one cutie mark, which sounds good at first until they don't stop coming. Still doesn't sound bad? How about the fact that YOU CAN'T STOP USING THEM. When you get the cutie marks from the disease, you are fine for the first few hours and can use them when you want to. After the first few hours, you are forced to use them, and are unable to stop no matter how hard you want to. Reminder, there is no cure. You are forced to do the actions given by the marks until you run out of energy, and even then you have to. This leads to death from major energy loss, and overexertion. For all we know, this could also break bones from all the different actions forcing themselves to process at one time as well. The reason they didn't know about the cutie marks being a normal thing is because the news was constantly spreading of villages being ravaged by cutie pox, leading to them burning their own people to try to what they thought was killing the virus. This leads me to believe they aren't the only village that did this. The last parts are speculation, but everything else is what actually happens with it. G4 was messed the fuck up in how extreme it's diseases were ._. between cutie pox, and swamp fever (yes both were in the actual show), that shit would be horrifying to go through. P.S. the cure to cutie pox was to basically publicly embarrass yourself by shouting out the truth to lies you told.
I LOVED the infection aus I made one of my own. I was the kid who liked horror movie but I also love mlp. When I was a kid I made a bunch of MLP horror art, mostly things playing with the idea of discord magic gone wrong aka body horror. Mostly inspired by The Thing.
10:41 I've been up for 72 hours before, and 96 hours (4 days) previously. You don't "go insane" from that amount of being awake, lol. Anyone who thinks anyone "goes insane" from that amount of lack of sleep, has never been awake for more than 24 hours. Either that or I'm more mentally fortified than 99.99% of humanity
I was definitely one of the kids that made the mistake of clicking “smile” And now I made a mistake by watching that Swamp Fever death scene. That was a visceral and instinctually disturbing scene… there goes my sleep.
It’s kinda ironic that the MLP fandom was late to the analog horror party considering that they’re literally one of the main pillars of early Internet horror content.
I honestly want the mlp infection aus to come back. They've become pretty popular in the warriors fandom too though! It actually fits pretty well into the lore as well, I'm even working on a story about that 💀💀💀
I remember watching ‘Smile’ as a kid. Man, I was not okay after that. I’m still unsure if it’s more scarring than the original ‘Watership Down’ movie (which I, as every good English boy does, also watched as a child).
The funniest thing about Swamp Fever is that it's _canon!_ It's from MLP season 7 episode 20, A Health of Information. The AU is heartbreaking, but it's also could have happened in canon universe easily.
I actually have a few hints on why it may have resurfaced out of nowhere; before the period in which these started, some other aus about horror versions of series came out, like island of the slaughtered and sir jonhalds Steven universe au, which came out after the wave lobotomy core memes after the rise of analog horror
clicked because subject matter or whatever but the sped up pony hurt my eyes maybe i'll come back later to listen to it as a podcast but it totally killed my pony tuesday night
What’s really going to bake all your noodles is the fact that Swamp Fever is a REAL DISEASE IN THE SHOW! Everything that video mentions, the way it’s spread, the bees that make the cure, how the infection works, is all canon. The disease also almost took the life of a named character. The video also takes place in G5, the series post G4, where all magic is gone from equestria and the fate of the princesses is unknown. That shit is more horrifying when you know the context
Oh boy, we're doing this deep dive... think that narrative guy who claims you're awful for covering Camila's crimes, claims other Undertale authors can't write as good as her, and says you should stop being a video maker for the "crime" of exposing her is gonna get mad that you covered pony horror?
Pinkie Pie, being an insane villain, makes more sense than it seems. It's made even better by the fact that Pinkamena isn't a name that people pulled out of thin air. Pinkamena Diane Pie is Pinkie Pie's canon name. Pinkamena, being an alter ego of sorts, is genius. Cupcakes was a roller coaster of a read. Very well written, and incredibly disturbing. But I like horror, so I actually enjoyed it.
Fatal familial insomnia (FFI) is a rare genetic condition that affects your brain and central nervous system. It causes you to have trouble sleeping (insomnia), memory loss (dementia) and muscle twitching. FFI is degenerative, which means symptoms get more severe over time. Symptoms of the condition are life-threatening and there’s no cure. That's what that sleep experiment reminded me of...
One thing I kinda regret about me joining the MLP fandom was that I joined through the MLP Grimdark scene. Looking back to when I was a young teenager and reading stuff like Cupcakes and Lil Miss Rarity I see how much that stuff really skewed my perception on the show and stuff like it. I do agree that there should of been more warning to people that this kind of content is not suited for a younger audience. I'll admit a lot of the stuff was great from a story perspective, but I definitely shouldn't of been able to or should of read, listened, or watched any of the Grimdark stuff from the mid 2010s. While I still like MLP to this day I pretty much stay away from a majority of grimdark stuff because I know how much that messed me up as I grew up. I'll even admit I lost a lot of close friends and someone close to my heart because of that stuff and how it messed up my views on things like love and relationships. Honestly I just hope that whenever I work on a story or think of doing a art piece that focuses on more mature topics, I steer away from pure horror Grimdark and try to focus more on mature themes that are more action oriented like we see in a lot of movies and media today, or write it in such away that shows distain or opposing the subject matter at hand.
swamp fever is canon btw. it's like a real thing in the MLP FIM universe. zecora and fluttershy caught it in one of the later-season episodes
Ngl, the voice actor in that last segment put his ALL into that performance. I dont even care for MLP and its setting off my fight or flight with how distressing it was.

off topic, seeing the comments on the cupcakes fanfiction makes me appreciate how people on the internet interacted back then vs now where someone will doxx you if you don't draw a fictional character based on their personal headcanons and interpretations.
but this video was nice trip down memory lane of horror!
It's quite the rabbit hole to go down.
what's even cool about the last video is that it's based off a canon infection in the show.
26:16 I can’t take this seriously even though the acting is really good but I can’t take it serious when he’s screaming anypony lol
As someone who just fell down the MLP rabbit hole, this community has some real strange overlap with so many others, fascinating stuff.
"Pinkie Pie falcon punches the Autism out of Twilight." ~ Bored Oranges 2024.
this might singlehandedly be one of the greatest things I've ever said
brings me way back to the rainbow factory and cupcakes fanfiction. i left the fandom like ten years ago or so yet... 💀💀💀
This trend was really fun to watch go down and I got to find many many talented artists through it. I’m glad people are still making videos about it.
i'm not a native English speaker, so the first time i encountered the RPG Apple Bloom game on a flash game site at a young age, u can say i was scared shitless while being confuse asf, which make the experience even more terrifying
never considered how the infection au might introduce people to the much more storied history of mlp horror. My print copy of Fallout Equestria is one of my most prized possessions.
Long live cupcakes, long live Rainbow Factory, and long live pony horror.
8:23 random fact or something: there’s a welcome home au base on this mlp creepypasta
My favorite MLP fan thing is the Equestria at War mod for Hearts of Iron 4. Yeah, There is a My little pony mod for a WW2 grand strategy game
26:32 "by dooming his daughter to adapt his [?] instead of finding her own," what was the word he said there? I didn't catch it.
I was definitely one of the kids that made the mistake of clicking “smile” And now I made a mistake by watching that Swamp Fever death scene. That was a visceral and instinctually disturbing scene… there goes my sleep.
0:57 I hope this scene isn’t what I think it is (hard to tell when all ponies don’t have clothes)💀
No completed naked, they at least have horseshoes on...
I'll show myself out.
It’s kinda ironic that the MLP fandom was late to the analog horror party considering that they’re literally one of the main pillars of early Internet horror content.
I honestly want the mlp infection aus to come back. They've become pretty popular in the warriors fandom too though! It actually fits pretty well into the lore as well, I'm even working on a story about that 💀💀💀
Thelostnarrator is so genuinely goated at MLP horror

🎵WELCOME TO THE UNDERGROUND🎵
The art in these AUs where SO GOOD!!!
I remember watching ‘Smile’ as a kid. Man, I was not okay after that. I’m still unsure if it’s more scarring than the original ‘Watership Down’ movie (which I, as every good English boy does, also watched as a child).
brother really attributed the imscared file generation trick to doki doki 💀
The funniest thing about Swamp Fever is that it's _canon!_ It's from MLP season 7 episode 20, A Health of Information.
The AU is heartbreaking, but it's also could have happened in canon universe easily.
im not even lying argyle's death is haunting just listening to it
send help. I'm genuinely lowkey addicted to ur vids they're fire
i watched “smile” when i was like, 4 or 5. literally traumatized me. but now i love the horror elements!!! :D
Hello meep
*9:42** Oooh Lost Narrator, I completely suggest listening to her readings she is so good at the voices and everything!*
I just want to say that there’s genuine talent people put behind these horror rabbit whole projects. Just wanted to say collectively well done.
That shit is more horrifying when you know the context
the last segment brought shivers down my spine
Hello! Yes I was 10 when my little pony came out. Cupcakes and the Rainbow Factory gave me nightmares. Now they are iconic though, ofc.
In the Rainbow Factory,
Where Fears and Horrors come true.
*Not a single soul goes through*
18:23 "or creepypastas with bad horror" cracked me up lmao
That Fallout Equestraia HIT ME, you CANNOT mention that.
i swear if i see any childhood trauma here-
Oh boy, we're doing this deep dive... think that narrative guy who claims you're awful for covering Camila's crimes, claims other Undertale authors can't write as good as her, and says you should stop being a video maker for the "crime" of exposing her is gonna get mad that you covered pony horror?
the Lin Cameo just made me miss Doodletones...fuck sakes.
Damn, now I wanna explore a lot of the videos and games you brought up. I used to be a big fan of mlp and I guess I always will be.
Y'know I can only recall one MLP TikTok horror au that actually had a definitive ending. "The Z virus"
That one spongebob scene of him and Patrick screaming on the kiddie ride
This video reminded me of how a friend of mine in High School was really into Fallout Equestria.
That's what that sleep experiment reminded me of...
i think swamp fever might have traumatized me
I stumbled upon the smile HD video when I was a kid, it was nice to go down memory lane (covered in gore but oh well)
25:26 jesus that will be stuck in my mind for long
One thing I kinda regret about me joining the MLP fandom was that I joined through the MLP Grimdark scene.
Honestly, it was weird seeing it randomly on Instagram, and I haven't interacted with mlp in a meaningful manner since that smile video came out
