    I know the feeling of nervousness when you first put on your skates! Something I learned from Dirty Deb is to hang onto something and do some squats once your skates are on. I lock my car and hang onto the door handle. It helps warm up your muscles and remind your body what it feels like to be on wheels! You'll get more confident every time you skate :)

If you want outdoor and indoor rollerskate, you want to make sure the wheel are made of this hard material I forgot what type, but a way to make sure is to look at the breaks, if you see that the break is flat, it's for indoor, if the break has a little round at the bottom it's for both in and outdoors.

    Hello. You're doing great. Don't be too tough on yourself, or push yourself too much.
    Couple of points - I e been roller skating for 20 years. Rolling down a hill going forwards still terrifies me. I'll only ever do it backwards, as your stoppers are much more effective.
    Point 2: don't be frightened of falling. More portantly, if you're going to fall, BEND YOUR KNEES. you'll hurt yourself a lot less.
    Good luck!

    some tips from a figure skater: DONT look down. you’ll lose your balance if you do and you might fall face first and that’s not a good thing. you should also stand straight to get used to balance a little easier. these tips especially help when you’re roller blading (AKA inline skates) and since roller skates have quad wheels, it’s easier to gain balance. for those people who don’t figure skate, i recommend using roller skates instead of roller blades. and tie them tightly to reduce injuries. if it’s too loose, it’s gonna be really hard to control and gain balance. and yes, you should wear protective gear. hope this helps and good luck :-)

    • @kthy31
      @kthy31 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tbh I have never ice skated and I find inline skating/roller blading a billion times easier than quad roller skating, the balance is easier to hold with the wheels in the center of your feet

      Small help from someone who skates; (I’ve been skating for 15 years. I’m 20 now lol); bend your knees when skating, and don’t look down.
      Ive always seen people with straight knees and looking at their feet constantly. Don’t do it, it will make it way harder. Also wear a helmet. I don’t since I was taught how to fall properly, but a lot of people were never taught how to, so wear a helmet please D:
      Also, try to do some exercise off skates. Developing leg muscle and core strength will help you be more stable in your skates! :)

    • @Prettyautumnrain
      @Prettyautumnrain 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      avneet deol 1: wear a helmet. Not only it will protect you, but it will also make you feel more confident and less scared of hurting yourself. I taught some of my friends and this helped them feel way more safe!
      2. If you don’t do exercise, try to find some exercises to have more core stability/strength.
      3. Don’t look down when skating. I know it’s difficult if your instincts scream at you to look at the ground, but don’t. Find a flat surface and look forward!
      4. Bend.your.knees. I repeat this to everyone beginning.
      5. Start trying beginner movements. DONT START TRYING TO BE A PROFESSIONAL OMG. A lot of my friends tried to imitate my movements... but I repeat. I’ve been skating for years, they haven’t. If you are a beginner of course you won’t be able to skate fast and in a polished way. First work on your basics, and at least watch some videos of beginner moves.
      6. Take your time. Some people learn quick and some don’t. The important thing here is to learn. It’s not a race of who gets sooner to the goal. It’s a path you have to learn from. Enjoy every success and learn from every failure.
      Never try to be quick, because that’s when your mind loses focus on learning. Be steady on your journey of skating. Good luck :D

    To help turn you can use a simple wrench to loosen or tighten your truck and to test them stand still with your skates on and put your weight on one side then the other and see how well it moves

    before backwards skating try to skate with blades and then once you can skate with blades do the same thing as blades but on quads after you learn backwards work on spinning try putting a foot up and turning and then try jumping jumping is very easy to practice balance put your arms behind your back then you can try a iceburg were you go side ways i dont know how to do it on blades but on quads put your feet side ways and turn and try not to kick and id put my feet closer so you look more smooth so you dont fall i just told you how to be a pro and do expect to learn this in a few days it took me year to be able to do most of this stuff so thats just to clear it up and make sure to be careful

    Im a figure skater but the basics are the same, BEND your knees. Even if you think you're bending them, bend them more, especially when you're just stroking and doing "bubbles" aka swizzles. It really makes you have more control and it will strengthen your legs. I ordered special inline skates meant for figure skaters and im sooo excited

    i have been rollerblading or 11 years (i started when i was four) its like walking to me. i think i actually am better on wheels than i am just walking. yesterday i bought my first pair of quads and they're the same as yours in the video. its weird being a "beginner" again. i mean i have a massive advantage to people just starting out for the first time but its still different and im not fully confident on them yet. i bought them to do outdoor and omg it is so much more fun on quads. im so excited to get better!

    I have a walker from previous surgeries that I used just to get comfortable I could hold on for balance. I only need when I’m going from inside my house to outside bc there’s a slant , step and brick walkway outside. I wear my skates about 18 hours a day. I have my husband and mother use a walker. I have a movement disorder, epilepsy, fused ankles, neck, and 19 surgeries so far. But I used to skate and dance and do sports. But skating gave me freedom from my body and conditions I’ve had 6 years, still need cane to walk, can’t walk more than 300ft. But I skated 13 miles one day. It’s amazing that freedom. Unfortunately skates come off I still can’t walk well. But I can spin, balance on one leg, go sideways, backwards. I’m totally with u” everyone should buy roller skates and life is better and happy “ it’s amazing feeling. I’m glad someone else knows that feeling of freedom. And falling.. I fell once over a pebble at night. It happens so fast I landed on my knees said wow that didn’t hurt got up kept going. Very different than when I have a seizure and I don’t have control of how I fall. Love ur videos

      Hey love! I've been skating for 8 years ( I'm 12 ) and I'd be happy to help. A few tips : make sure that you lace them v tight around the ankles so the wont be sure after a while. Bend your knees when you first start, that way it's easier to move and wont hurt as much to fall. Another thing! Your going to fall, and it'll probably hurt, just dust yourself off and get back to practicing when you feel comfortable enough. Bye for now!

    I had to learn to inline skate in like 2 hrs. Well, it was skate or hit the pavement in front of the derby girls and thousands of people watching since I was in a parade. So yeah, forced to learn in record time. lol I could (kind of) skate on quads so that helped but not much. I can do both now but I'm glad I stuck to inlines as there so many more options for wheels. I've skated pavement on 125s that would be near impossible for quads. I've been skating for 5 yrs now and love every second of it!

    If you keep skating your going to be amazing! One suggestion is don't drag your top stop like you're doing! Keep practicing the T-stop, learn a plow stop, and learn turn around toe stop. You're doing so good. In five days, man oh man you're doing very good!!
