    Great video. I like the way you explained the styling intent, and why you chose the front (I thought the other side made a better front, but I get why you chose otherwise). Good explanations throughout the video, although I would like to know why you chose pure pumice versus a mix of other ingredients. I assume it has to do with the climate that the tree is growing in. Keep up the great videos!

    Amazing job, man. I have an alaska white spruce. It was collected close to 15 yrs ago and not too much has been done to it since then....a little wiring of the branches and that's about all. The tree set in a black garbage bag for about the first 10 yrs after collection and has been in a mica pot for about 5 yrs now. It's about 6 1/2 ft tall with the majority of the branches in the upper third of the tree......a definite literati. I would like to send you a picture of it and see if you can give me some ideas as to how I might try to style this guy. Also, when might be a better time of the year to begin working on a tree like this..

    Thank you so much for all the videos you have made over the years. Great work as always. I have a question about the unnecessary branches you removed. Would you have made different decisions if you had chosen the final front from the beginning or were those branches in bad positions/shape regardless of the design?

    Sadly one key thing that gets missed off too many bonsai "how to" videos is when the best time of year is to do what they're demonstrating. Heavy pruning such as this has the potential to kill a tree if not done at the right time.

  • @mindfulmusicing7900

    I had trouble understanding some of the choices. Maybe a progression would help? I would like to see how this tree looks after a year or two. Or, maybe a drawing of how the tree is expected to develop would help to better demonstrate some of the choices. The extreme bends made to create the top felt and looked very forced to me.

    i understand the logic to repotting into a wood box with holes in it so there would be greater oxygen access, but could this tree have still been repotted immediately into a ceramic bonsai pot?

    • @maplejapanese9375
      @maplejapanese9375 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The purpose was to seek to improve the health of the tree and its recovery after design work. They also needed leaf mass growth, these things are achieved much more easily in a deep cultivation drawer. In addition, this material comes from yamadori, with which to reduce the bread of roots very suddenly to make it fit in a pot of bonsai is not advisable.
