Hahaha - there was some snow in shaded and northern side of the mountain 🏔 it just didn’t make the video. I should have got a video of it just for fun 👍😀
Ya few people have been asking about shipping the trees. I haven’t looked into it much and I’ll let you know if I start. It scares me that I would just be killing the trees trying to ship them.
Gud day Bro.. I enjoyed watching your video, I also like bonsai plants, I have been on hunting bonsai materials few days ago and I got a lot of different wild trees.. Goodluck too Bro..
Nice to hear from you. It’s been so long. Thanks for reaching out and commenting. You the area. If I remember right last time I saw you, you were in Edmonton. You still there? If you are in the area we should connect 😀👍
Great job ...intro was fantastic. Thumb up for your out door activity finding variety of small trees growing in the wild provide opportunities for bonsai cultivation that cannot be found in nursery stock or carefully raised seedlings. Look ahead to your out door hunting..👍👍👍👍
Great video. Question.. when potting your collected trees, do you clean most of the field dirt off of the roots or do you just plant it with the soil that it has already?
Great question. I leave as much of the original dirt as possible. I trim many of the tips of the roots and cut off any that are severely damaged in the collect. I place the tree/roots close to the bottom of the container (minimal soil from root base to bottom of the container). On the second report I do more major work on clearing the original soil but I still leave about half untouched. This can make watering difficult. I do more heavy cleaning of the original soil on deciduous versus conifers. Hope this helps😀👍
Wow amazing! Yamadori is not possible in Japan now. Too much nature has been destroyed. I'm envious of your country's natural environment. Outside of Japan, the word yamadori has taken on a life of its own. I think it's important to have a balance. Anyway, I envy you🥺
Planting position of shohin, semi cascade or swept to the right with the canopy coming back towards the centre of pot? Many options but these are what I saw... Nice...
Thanks for the design tip. At this point still unsure of what to do with it. It'll have to be next spring as for now it's getting settled and gaining strength.
Just found yours. love your style and videos. keep posting more. I think we should do a zoom recording together and post on both of our channels? thoughts?
Great question. Mostly peat and perlite. I keep as much original soil so as not to disturb the roots. I sometimes add some shphagnum moss and or wood chips. But mostly pear and perlite. A lot of people use pumice but your watering has to be on point.
the abundance of bonsai materials there is amazing, from nature it is like a giant tree, very cool, really good, very creative, very inspiring for us beginners like us, greetings Indonesian bonsai lovers, don't forget to stop by our channel, omg
It’s that time of year 😄. Hope your journey was successful and inspiring for the possibilities? I still get this nervous/excitement about collecting and working on trees. 4 years in and still lovin it. So grateful bonsai has called to us. Thanks for the post 👍
It gets about -15 Celsius or 5 Fahrenheit at coldest where I live, usually for only a few days. We have lots of snow which insulates the trees. Mine go all outdoors heeled into the ground with no greenhouse or cover. So far results have been good. I may try bringing some into my basement for winter. All my trees so far are collected in the spring which gives them time to build roots, settle, and get strong. I am going to try collecting some in the fall and so I’ll see how they do overwinter. From what I gather it’s a lot warmer in your area so you should be ok but I’d still heel them into the soil, also depending on your snow fall it may or may not insulate your trees. Hope that helps. Most of my trees are native to my area and thus can take the cold climate. I did have a Rosemery die outside, I have two that I’m going to try to keep outside this year and my fingers will be crossed 🤞. Thanks for commenting
You need permission and permits to collect and only in certain place and some trees you are not allow to collect. So the short answer is no but there are some step to take😀👍
좋은 곳에 사시네요~^^
분재할수 있는 나무들이 너무 많아서 좋겠어요~ 부럽습니다~^^

Montana, USA here. How do you winter over your yamadopi? Bonsai?? Does everything go into a green house or are some left outside?
