My name is Tina. I have been living in Netherlands since 4 years and thought of sharing my experience of living in Netherlands as an expat with all of you through my TH-cam videos. I am making videos in both English and Hindi(mix) :)

Hi Tina, Very Good information.
As someone of Dutch, Indian and American origin permit me to add:
You may certainly eat with a certain crowd at the meeting table. But maybe best to do this only if others are doing so. Also, and this is important, make sure NOT to eat with your mouth open nor talk while chewing. This is considered very, very distasteful by others.
Remember that you may be looking at the Dutch from an Indian or otherwise non-Dutch perspective. That may lead to confusion and misunderstandings. Know yourself in order to know others.
It may sound silly or nonsensical but becoming aware that you might not be aware of what is actually going on in a Dutch setting is paramount to start learning how things work. Also, with so many thousands of Indians entering in the past 15 years the Dutch are rapidly developing an image of YOU. And, that image will in many cases not be correct. Make sure you are aware of what that image is. Use those prejudges to make better social bonds. You are not just representing yourself you are representing others as well.
Indian culture is very diverse with deep roots in history and identity spanning thousands of years. There is a manner in which things are done, an order. Indian culture is very masculine and still contains many "old school" British elements in the way work is done. The Netherlands is a feminine culture which focuses less on performance and more on fairness as you go up the employment ladder. If you are less good at something or having some problem they may help you but if you are "too" good at something they may also bring you down!
Being modest is good. Not attracting attention is good. But if you do not participate in the Dutch social interaction with your opinion they may feel that you have nothing to offer. Be assertive without standing out too much.
Do not expect Dutch culture to be applied outside of the Netherlands. Even next door in places like Germany or Belgium. It wont work! At best Italian and Turkish cultures may be in alignment with some Indian cultural traits. These have nothing in common with the Dutch.

Hi Tina, my husband will be moving to Netherlands next month on HSM visa, we are from India and I would accompany him after few months of his arrival in NL. I also would like to work, I have applied to many organisations and getting response that one should manage Dutch language and person should be in NL. I would like to ask how difficult is getting a job there and is it possible to get job after reaching NL. I am QA analyst.
Hi, there are many openings for Automation QA analyst. But you should know Dutch language so that your chances for getting job will increase. All the test requirements usually described in Dutch language. So as a QA analyst it will be nice to know the Dutch language.
Thanks Tina for the quick response. Could you please share how to start with Dutch language and how to appear for exam. The Dutch course or certificate which is useful for getting jobs. Will I be able to attend exam from India or do I need to have it in NL.
To start with Dutch language, you need some language course. For practice you can use duolingo app. In NL courses are bit costly. It’s better to do it in India if possible. A2 Level Dutch certification is mandatory to prove that you know basic Dutch. A2 Level Certification is possible only in NL.
It also really depends on what company you work for! In big cities your chances are higher for getting a job, if you speak at least English decently. You could for example start working in Amsterdam as a receptionist or bartender to learn Dutch fast and getting a paycheck for it at the same time. After a while, you'll get used to the way of life and the language, and your chances of finding a job in your own field will be much higher.

My wife is currently working as Medical officer in Multi Specialty Hospital.
Do you want a job in the health care sector? Dont worry about that one. Of course it depends on what kind of job you are looking for but in general getting a job (as long as you have the right papers) is prettt do able.

Can you please help to get job in public health sector. My wife is having 2+ years of experience in medical field. She has been working as physician assistant in Multi Speciality Hospital for around 2 years. From August, we are moving to Eindhoven.

@@timirsoni9500 Oefff, you ask me a difficult question. If you would speak Dutch I would have send you some links, but because it has to be in English its more difficult. When you are in the Netherlands you can ask the county if they have a network for healthcare related jobs. Otherwise try to contact Randstad (Which is basically the biggest employment agency in the Netherlands).
Ma'am can you even tell about distance education University in Netherlands?
Hi Teresa, can you please tell me what course are you looking for distance learning? In Netherlands, I doubt if there is any distance learning for higher education.
