AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! I WAS IN KAZAKHSTAN!!!!!!! Sorry, I just love the fact that I was there, and I enjoy watching people with the "TH-cam it" skill who travel to the places I've been to like that because I feel it. I'm American, NOT from a big city (or even a small one), and I studied Russian at University and two of my best friends in the world are from Kazakhstan. One of them is living in Russia now, but I was in her hometown of Aktau and it really meant a lot. And I love the fact that your Russian is due to your Russian wife. A lot of the travel videos are sometimes about "slavic women", but as a bit of a conservative who just loves the language and my friends, I enjoy what and how you share your travels. Anyway, really cool! You've got a new subscriber
I know a guy there called BORAT. He is really nice 😂 . He can get you to the USA 🇺🇸. A train cabin shared with a woman?! Unbelievable. But seriously, excellent way to know how other cultures live. I was very surprised to see how clean the cities are.. and the honest simplicity of the people. Thank you for showing us the world.
Of course, he’s not going to show you how most people live. Russia always builds a facade of beauty and strength in every country they invade. He spoke Russian. In Uzbekistan. I’m beginning to wonder if he and Julia are Russian propagandists. See how nice people live under the Soviet U …. Uh, Russian demo ….. Russian leadership?
I probable missheard it but I thought he said the train was a Talgo. If so, that's a Spanish make of trains. They were top in their class until high speed trains largely replaced them, starting in the early 1990s.
Feel so bad that you and Julia had to go separate ways for a while. Hope you've reunited by now and doing fun things together. Tashkent is beautiful Enjoyed the video. What would have happened if your visitor visa had expired while you were in Kazakhstan? Also, does this mean you've lost your chance to bump in to Dimash? hehehe
Thank you so much Lyn! I would have probably been banned from entering for a while which I definitely wouldn’t want 🥲 Hahaha, we will back there very soon so might see him! ❤️
Your video just appeared on YT watching for the first time, i thoght something happened so decided to watch . Was actually surprised by your Russian, and the fact that u went here, in Tashkent because im from here myself love to see it . Hope u having a good time here! ♥️
Talgo? I worked in Madrid in the 80s and some of the trains were called 'Talgos'. Had a quick Google and yes, the company has been expanding quite a bit since I was last in Spain. Bit of a surprise hearing it in connection with Kazakstan.
The Talgo train is produced in Spain. There has been talk of the US acquiring these trains, as representatives of the U.S. government have been impressed with them. Many Brits have taken this train, as loads of Brits spend their holidays in Spain. Hope you had a good time in Kazakhstan and enjoy your time in Uzbekistan!
Amtrak has been running talgo trainsets for years on the cascade line that goes from Eugene, Oregon to Vancouver, BC but they are in the process of replacing them now. That’s the only place In the US that has them that I know if.
It's so strange to see you both travelling to different destinations! I am sure my brain inserted some "Julia-Giggles" into the background randomly 😄 I hope you're both doing well regardless, and are staying happy and healthy 💖🍀
The train is the same as the one I was on 15 years ago. It was diesel, as I recall. One car has a hot water samovar for tea and soup flakes. There's a tea glass holder in the cupboard. The blankets are paper thin. The temperature is cold at night in early April. I got a charley-horse, and couldn't find enough jackets and bags to cover them to warm up. The toilet paper in the washroom is as rough as cornhusks. But, it gets you there. If not a scary and intimidating experience. Soldiers pacing the platforms at every stop.
the Talgo part revers to the manufacturer of the train, Talgo. Talgo is a Spanish company that makes trains based on a special proprietary design. these trains have only two wheels per carriage and with the other end resting on the next carriage. fit withing axel load specifications the wagons are a lot shorter but there are more of them. The special dezign makes the floor of the train lower, easing in accessibility. also because of te single 2 wheels this trains goes true cures much easier that a normal train would and because of the shorter cars the train can be wider.

Thanks for the great video, I've always wondered what Tashkent was like, as I was at Tashkent airport more than once in the mid 80s - I used to fly to India and back from the UK in the mid 80s by the cheapest airline at the time - Ariana Afghan Airlines, you flew Checkislovakia Air to Prague, then change planes to the Ariana DC10 to Kabul, via Moscow & Tashkent, then change planes again at Kabul, which was a massive Soviet Airbase at the time. Later the Mujhehadeen shot that DC10 up and destroyed it!

I haven’t caught up with you guys for awhile. It makes me so sad at what is going on over there and that you guys had to split up for awhile. I hope you both (and family) stay safe. Please keep us updated. Love to you both from Montana (USA).
Thank you so much, will do ❤️
Moon Sister. I'm from Montana too. It sounds like you know about this video and the man talking and more. I have no idea who he is, or what is going on. . I wish I knew. It would help. Thank you.
@@marjoriegarner5369 I’ve been watching them several years, off and on. They normally do travel videos, primarily in Russia and Eastern Europe. They married. Julia is from Russia and Matt is from England.
Thanks for the great video! 👍👍👍
Thank you 😊
Love the laid back style. Spent a week in Tashkent by myself ahead of a Silk Road tour in 2019. Everything you say is good and more.... there was only a fleeting glimpse of the metro but would you consider a video walkabout on the tashkent metro looking at it architecture in the future?
I would really love to visit Kazakhstan. I can see the people are friendly and hospitable
The music in this video is awesome man!
I know you missed your sweet Julia!!! 🥰☺️ Can’t wait for the next video!!!
I really do! Thank you so much Gina ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your journey, what a beautiful city. The train was nice and clean.
So glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼❤️
Fascinating music.
Weird countries for me in Costa Rica, good footage! Thanks heaven you re a Briton !
Hi Mark! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Lots more to come from Kazakhstan and beyond! Love to the US and welcome to the channel 🙏🏼❤️
Very niiiiiccceeee! 😁 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Of course, he’s not going to show you how most people live. Russia always builds a facade of beauty and strength in every country they invade. He spoke Russian. In Uzbekistan. I’m beginning to wonder if he and Julia are Russian propagandists. See how nice people live under the Soviet U …. Uh, Russian demo ….. Russian leadership?
@@northerngirl4666 Very good point, Northern girl. The Russians only allow people in who are going to say good things
Fantastic video Matt, you’re videoing skills are truly remarkable. You also do the narration so very well, it always holds my interest perfectly.
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!! 🙏🏼❤️
I probable missheard it but I thought he said the train was a Talgo. If so, that's a Spanish make of trains. They were top in their class until high speed trains largely replaced them, starting in the early 1990s.
Да это тальго испанские.
@@СаулеКожахметова-б3я Спасибо
In my country in South America, trains does not exist, so it's always interesting, to see, how people are traveling in trains in other countries
I really enjoyed jour video. I am very impressed with the solid clean big buildings and wide streets.
As a kid who lives in kazahstan. Its good how you like our country :)
Matt you are so nice. I love how kind you were to Nina.
Thank you so much Kuyah ❤️
Love your work and cinematography.
Also I might add, thank you for visiting the places that I know now because of your videos I don’t ever want to be in.
I'm so glad all went well. I know you feel like part of you is missing and its your sweet Julia. Maybe it won't be too lonely before you are reunited.
Thank you Kathy! I hope so, can’t wait to see her ❤️
Your video just appeared on YT watching for the first time, i thoght something happened so decided to watch . Was actually surprised by your Russian, and the fact that u went here, in Tashkent because im from here myself love to see it . Hope u having a good time here! ♥️
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel 🥰❤️
Talgo? I worked in Madrid in the 80s and some of the trains were called 'Talgos'. Had a quick Google and yes, the company has been expanding quite a bit since I was last in Spain. Bit of a surprise hearing it in connection with Kazakstan.
Talgo is a Spanish train.
You made a very nice and interesting video. Thank you for uploading.
@@Newspeak. Thanks 👍 for the info. I'd personally love to see more Talgos in the US (and eventually, nationwide high-speed trains would be nice, too)
It's so strange to see you both travelling to different destinations! I am sure my brain inserted some "Julia-Giggles" into the background randomly 😄
I hope you're both doing well regardless, and are staying happy and healthy 💖🍀
Thank you so much Dai, really appreciate it 😘 Definitely missing those giggles 😁❤️
Welcome to Uzbekistan!
Thank you so much! ❤️
the Talgo part revers to the manufacturer of the train, Talgo.
Excellent presentation. Thank you.
Love your editing style. Subscribed.
Thank you so much 🙏🏼❤️
Hi Matt 👋 Nice to see you again! I am live in LA ,USA. Born originally at Tashkent. During the Soviet time, 1980 we immigrated to Israel, Ibwas 11 years old. At the year 2000 with my family we immigrated to USA. Haven't been there since. I actually planned recently to go visit Tashkent but unfortunately because currently situation...it will take us over 20 hours to fly with lay over in a few countries ...not even talking about the sky prices...😏. Hopefully next year we can visit there and can't wait to eat the Plov again 😋. Have a safe back journey!!!🙏🙏🙏
Wow, what an interesting change in places you have lived! 😮 hope you get the chance to go back soon, the plov is waiting for you 😀 Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼❤️
@@MattandJulia Thank you so much Matt, I hope so too!!👍😉🙏
Great video! We have such an interest in Kazakhstan, to visit, maybe to live longer term. What camera did you use for this video?
We are praying for you all, may God be with you all and protect you all.
First of your videos I've seen...You're very good at telling a video story...subscribed...thanks for the video
Thank you so much Gary, that means a lot 🙏🏼❤️
Am sure it's a funny feeling to be doing this on your own when before this Julia has always been there... Your expression on food was just the same as Julia ,hehe . Sometimes we dont realise that after being together for so long, things we do or say sometimes it mirrors our partner . And love how hospitable people could be anywhere around the world.
Haha, we have so many similarities these days, we effectively grew up together 😀❤️
Hey Matt. Great video mate 👍. My wife is from Kazakhstan and she is also Russian Kazakh. I have never been to Uzbekistan but I would love to visit and we hopefully will next year. We spent time in Almatty in August and we loved the city. Thanks for posting your trip. I really enjoyed it
Thank you so much for watching! We are running a group trip to Uzbekistan next year if you are interested? 🥰❤️

@MattandJulia Hi Guys unfortunately we are at wedding in Poland and spending a couple of weeks there..But thanks for the offer. I hope you guys have a great time
I love your work!
I was born too early. I'm 77 and did a lot of hitch hiking in europe when i was a lad,50 years younger and id be there❤
Matt, the *Spirit of Julia* 9:30 is a live and all around you. So glad you made this video, I was wondering how you were doing without your better half, last video was tough to watch... I was amazed how well you speak Russians in all your videos with ease you learn fast, and Julia must be an excellent teacher... btw: I kept waiting for Juila to pop her head above your shoulder for a quick comment like she normally does. Not seeing you two together is like *Salt without Pepper, Burger without Fries, Batman without Robin* I think you get my point. You two make a great *Team* ... LM
Thank you so much Larry, can’t you enjoyed it!
So true! Can’t wait to be reunited 😊❤️
VERY enjoyable......cheers ~baden~ (Australia)
I was in Almaty from 15-25 september, i was at the dimash concert there it was amazing. I had a Great time there. From norway.
Great production quality, top notch!
Thank you so much 🙏🏼❤️
Love the adventure. ❤

Howdy Matt, what a nice train and trip plus the city looks nothing I would think. Very modern and structured. Have a pleasant time and stay safe.
