Thank you, Eli- Your videos are as good, if not better, than any National Geographic. You show us places most of us would never see otherwise.
Stop lying, muscovite!
Yes definitely!!!! Agree❤❤❤

My favorite travel videos used to be the BBC Michael Palin series, but now it is Eli’s videos.

'Modern life' is a misnomer, modern life is walking around like a ghost with no soul and with no purpose. Keep your traditions alive. That man with his falcons and eagles lives a happy life and he keeps the spirit of his ancestors alive.
Modern western life is absolute misery.
Are people showing more pride in and protecting their traditions? I hear now and then about places where people are struggling to keep alive or bring back an indigenous language that was dying out, for example. It’s encouraging. I agree about modern life. It leaves a hole that we are constantly trying to fill.
Agreed
They are so sweet, thank you for sharing. I like Kazakhs and their traditions. Greetings from Türkiye to Kazakh brothers and sisters.

In 1975 I went cave exploring with a group of Kazakh teachers in Czechoslovakia - we all spoke a little Russian and laughed so much -- wonderful people -- great video, Eli!
One of the more heartwarming episodes you have made ❤. Much love to people of Kazakhstan 🇰🇿.
❤
Eli needs to get some kind of award for these videos. She is cultural ambassador extraordinaire.
Although the falconer talks to her in Russian, he communicates in Kazakh with the birds. very cool
Beautiful as always, You are an ambassador for peace, understanding and food in this crazy world.
Thank you for showing me a little bit of Kazakstan! I’ve always wanted to go there because my grandfather was born there, but came to Finland and then Sweden in the 1960s and I have no connection to the culture or language. This just makes me want to visit even more and discover more about my heritage.

All three are attractive but the one who looks Chinese (I know she's Kazakh) is breathtaking. She could be a model or a movie star.
Immediately makes me want to travel there. Have had some friends / acquaintances from Kazakhstan over the years but this seals the deal.
Borat was actually filmed in Romania, if anyone was wondering.
Yes, in a gypsy village called Glod.
There is even a documentary about that village.
And “Borat” is Jewish, not Kazakh.
@@minime7375 Kazakh Jews have a long and rich history, you should read about it.
Borat is a Jew insulting the goyim (non jew) always !!
And the language he used was IMHO polish. Anyway Borat was never meant to be documentary.
Such beauty! In the people, birds, culture, markets, landscape, all of it!
Eli, I really love you channel! As a person who travels a lot I have come to appreciate the many cultures I have been privileged to encounter. Great video, thanks. I would happily try Kazakh food. I try food from all the places I travel. If the locals are alive from eating it, then it's fine.
There's a popular Kazakh/Uzbek restaurant in NYC called Farida's. They serve Beshbarmak though they don't use horse using only beef and lamb there.
Then it's not authentic. Maybe horse meat is not allowed for consumption in NY
Thank you for another wonderful mini-documentary. Shakrizada's voice is beautiful!
I enjoyed the dinner with subtitles. Was very refreshing and respectful and I like that. I don’t mind subtitles at all and the food. Omg looks so different to what I have in the UK.

Timely video, I just had Beshbarmak last week at a Central Asian restaurant in Chicago!
Great video... Kazakhstan is wonderful place and I was also in Almaty just about a month ago for few days... wonderful experience!
Eli! Fantastic video! The way I understand it, Kazakhstan was part of Russia (USSR) for many decades. Of course, the people would know the language as well as their own just as you know your Tatar language. It's delightful to see you young women interact & share information. Falconer also a great contribution, showing how new technology is used in the activity now. Great song by lovely singer unifies it all. Thank you!
Tatars are very russified, they even look like russians
What a great video! I just love birds and you got to pet them. WOW. That Eagle was huge. Those girls were very beautiful as well, and what a singer.
Love it, you are a grand master of beautiful, human story telling, Eli. Top league, simply heart-warming. So much needed, in our polarizing world. ❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much ☺️

Hi everyone! 😊In the last year me and my wife visited Kazakhstan. 🇰🇿 We crossed all country from Burabay to Astana, then Balkhash, thereafter to the small village Moyinty. After this we went to Almaty. It's true: people in Kazakhstan are more friendly and responsive than in Russia; people there are wise and look at YOU but not at your nationality. 👍
PS Almaty is a wonderful city! 👏👏

Borat is a very nice person
How aware are you of the importance of state symbols?
Do you know what an inverted flag means?
Do you know what a slightly lowered flag means?
How do you feel about your own national symbols of your country?
In your opinion, is it normal when our "state symbols" are used in the Borat film without any respect? When in advertising, in different countries, our symbols are insulted by naked people and extremely hypocritically? Then it is called just a promotional film and there is nothing to be offended about.
How many Kazakhs have you seen who have insulted your state symbols? I see only the arrogance of eurocentric people who believe that their symbols are extremely important, but the symbols of other countries do not have any value.
I am half Kazakh, half German. I don't know English well, so I wrote as well as I could. I don't see any point in apologizing for the mistakes I might make in this language. Half of my soul is extremely offended by how hypocritically people from other countries treat the flag of this country. Allowing what they would not allow in their own country, to their state symbols. And I don't need to justify the hypocrisy of such people.
I'm not blaming you personally, maybe it doesn't matter to you. I stopped being indifferent when the author of the film tweeted in response to the indignation of our minister that all the girls of Kazakhstan are whores. And then, hypocritically, deleted his post. Although, his text has been preserved in the logs. After such an insult, he ceased to exist as a human being for me.
Мои родители вместе со мной эмигрировали из России в Германию в начале 90-х годов, a родился я в Казахстане. Бешпармак вернул мне детские воспоминания и вызвал мурашки 😍🤤

Beautiful! Thank you!
For all foreigners watching, Borat wasn't filmed in Kazakhstan. It was a Romanian gypsy village end Sacha Baron scammed them...
It must be so exhausting for Kazakh people when the first thing people mention in Borat... even I roll my eyes and I've never been there. Kazakhstan is a really interesting country it's a shame it is synonymous with that movie
leave it to one of them to be able to scam even gypsies 😂
Nice destination rare to be seen by media thanks to you Eli interesting culture and people .
The food looks great, and the women look amazing!
👍👍👍👍 I worked in Karagatchanak, I like Kazakhstan
Always so interesting ❤️
Here we see Eli as an ambassador with her Kazakh friends, and introduces us to the culture. The falcons are a useful diversion as she asks about what makes Kazakhstan unique. Eli is not dolled up and her pretty friends have an opportunity to shine, especially the singer. This is what makes Eli so special. She can have no makeup and look rather plain, but she never steals the show. We love you Eli.
I always liked people who got along with eagles, like the ancient people of Asian steppe and the Americas.
A Kazakh babushka once made dinner for us … it was an astounding meal!
I'm originally from Moscow Oblast, but my mother is from Northern Kazakhstan, although ethnically, she's 3/4 Russian 1/4 Ukrainian.
I tried beshbarmak for the first time when I was probably 14-15, my mum and Nan cooked it together in Penza Oblast, where I lived for quite some time. My family didn't have access to horsemeat back then as it wasn't available on the local market in Penza Oblast, so they used beef instead to make it. It was delicious!
A few years later, I studied in China and met quite a lot of people from CIS countries. A Kazakh student from my dormitory somehow managed to get real Kazakh horsemeat from his hometown and treated me with some real beshbarmak. It's the best one I've had so far. I was also friends with a Kyrgyz girl that shared Kurt (Kurut) with me, it was a really interesting salty snack to try.
Now I live and work in the United Kingdom, occasionally eating so-not-Kazakh food ... fish and chips xD

Careful, falconry eagles that are too hungry can literally snatch out human eyes. Vavilov figured out in the first part of the twentieth century that apples originated in southern Kazakhstan, and this has been confirmed by modern genetics. Finally at 15:21 the eagle is getting some fur for roughage, which birds of prey need for healthy digestion to keep their intestines scoured out. Previously it was being fed only meat. The eagle kept making noise, which is unusual, so it might be in some kind of pain from not being exercised enough or being fed incorrectly.
What has apples have to do with Hawks snatching eyes 😂
How about watching the full Video?@@Ruma_Kaalis_Camoran
@@Ruma_Kaalis_CamoranThey are associated only in the video's sequencing. She was exposed as an amateur to a potentially dangerous eagle, then she discussed the origin of apples. Then went back to the falconry. Falconry requires a lot of expertise to master, which is why Frederick II of Hohenstaufen wrote his book De Arte Venandi Cum Avibus in the 1240's.
@@freidenker8440 Here there were no accidents, but you never know when a wild animal will lash out. Even bulls can be friendly and tame for 20 years, then suddenly strike out and stomp their friendly farmer to death. People are safest when they know what to protect themselves from. Vavilov is important because he figured out the concept of "centers of origin" for many crops, to understand how they evolved. In some ways he was like a second Darwin. His rival was Trofim Denisovich Lysensko, and Lysenko despite his crazy ideas was favored by Stalin. Due to the rivalry, Stalin jailed Vavilov and he ended up being starved to death even though his science was all about improving agriculture and human nutrition. During World War II (the Great Patriotic War) Vavilov's assistants kept his seed collection going even though some of them starved to death when they could have eaten the seed collection and saved themselves. Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Very interesting insight, thanks for sharing and analyzing
