I’ve had several people tell me not to pressure wash a camper…. They say only use water hose. Advice on pressure, nozzle tip, etc for this. I have a 2007 Jayco Recon ZX (F36V) ToyHauler. Thanks
It has to do with the pressure. If you have a 2k psi washer you might want to change the orifice nozzle (bigger) to reduce pressure closer to 12-1,400.
I clean RVs professionally and respect your video but don't ever use a turbo nozzle on the RV. You can easily cut a hole in the roof membrane and force water into the RV.
I’ve tried just about everything on those roofs to get them clean. As long as I’m not stupid about it, the turbo nozzle does the best without any issues. In fact, if you have a recommendation, I’d take it

The meguiars wash soap is great for breaking loose the grime but it doesn’t have a wax in it. The hydro 2 is the ultimate final wash and rinse. On a roof that is nasty and black, I’ll fill the foam cannon full strength with Meguiars all purpose cleaner and scrub. I may cautiously use a rotating nozzle on the pressure washer also. Then rinse and follow with the hydro 2 and rinse. The overspray is inevitable. Once Im done on the roof I don’t go back up, but I will try to overspray onto the roof from the ground to try to rinse
I recently purchased 2014 coachmen trailer that was parked under pine tree for a few years. It has black spots that looks similar to mold but don't think it is. Not afraid to use elbow grease.... what would you use to remove something like this? Thx.
It’s likely something called artillery fungus. Google image the term and see if that is what yours looks like. It actually is a type of mold from trees. There are a few home remedies online using a vinegar or bleach solution. How concerned does a person have to be about decals when using different types of foam and a pressure washer? What precautions should be taken? Thanks for the video?
Decals and graphics are always a concern. I’ve actually talked directly to meguiars about this topic. The main precaution is to make sure your soap is a dedicated quality car wash soap. PH balanced, non caustic, nothing that can dry and crack vinyl graphics. Most quality automotive soaps serve this purpose. Another is to be sure your not blasting the graphics with your pressure washer. Just take it easy around them and don’t get to close with the spray head. Meguiars suggested to me using a spray wax on graphics after a wash for added protection, particularly Meguiars D156 synthetic spray wax.
Nice work with the pre wash inspection! I’d love to see a video on buffing and waxing an an oxidized rv and how to deal with graphics. It’s been a mystery weather or not to go over graphics or to avoid them
Oxidized RV's are tough. I've done a few and now I usually turn them down. Once they are at that point, there is very little improvement that can be done and usually the customer is expecting a miracle, which isn't possible. Buffing on graphics can be done, but it is risky.
It does take a lot but is very possible to bring back a shine. Worth the bill , and the bill is worth the job , once they pay it too. Have to have a good eye , mask, and eye protection for sure. I can show you some before and afters of what I’ve done .
I just completed a 36ft RV with heavy oxidation and was able to bring it back to life! I avoided the graphics as much as I could during my rotary step and went over all the graphics with my DA at the end. Came out great! Took forever but the customers were beyond pleased!
I restored a winnebago adventurer that had been left in the sun over ten years it was a 2001 and I restored it about three years ago. The graphics you want to avoid, if you can get replacement decals from the manufacturer do so that makes it much easier. If not you'll have to pay a print shop to make new ones. From there an eraser wheel will get the old ones off quick. You don't want to hit decals with rubbing or polishing compound but you can hand wax them. As for restoring the gel coat use marine grade rubbing compound on a good stiff wool white wheel, at a pretty high speed. Avoid using anything but a rotary buffer, Dewalt makes the strongest one. After you will want to use marine polish (maguires makes both they come in blue bottles) and a foam pad setup. You can use a DA if you want. Don't go crazy with the speed. Like this video mentions look at all seals check all windows especially double paned glass. You can and should use cleaner wax by hand after you polish. On a good sized rig expect the job to take at least a weeknif younare a pro two weeks if new to doing the work. Mask off the area where you are working trust me it helps. Also faded black decals you can if you are careful and have a good spray gun setup you can use black spray paint. Remember to get a uv protecting ClearCoat over any painting that you do. For example the winnebago had a bunch of panels for storage that I repainted and bumper pieces and the black decals that looked sad I repainted. It took me months honestly, to restore that rig. Got 25k for it tho. Good luck.
Typically I will start off with Meguiars Hyper wash on the roof, brush, then rinse. Then follow with the Hydro 2 then rinse. I remember having audio problems that day with my wireless mic and had to redo some shots of washing the roof. Didn't use the brush in the second take.
What is your pressure washer of choice and what psi is acceptable for use? Everyone seems to have a different opinion. To be safe, I might get an electric for the cars/fifth wheel and a gas for jobs that need more muscle. I would like to get away with one if possible.
My daily detail rig has a electric 1800 psi 1.2 gallon per minute pressure washer. It’s perfect for every day detailing and my 50 gallon tank is enough to get through the day. However I do have a gas 3000 psi 4 gallon per minute that I use for the big stuff like RVs. The 1800 psi isn’t enough. So you have to weigh your options
I agree with you. However the dilemma is, gas powered is noisy. And in the quiet neighborhoods I work in, and with everyone working from home, people get angry with the noise.
How much do you charge for something like this? I’m going to do a quote on one here in the next hour or so,, but they want the interior done also. But, how do you dry the outside without DI water?
I’ve never done rv interiors. Exterior I usually charge $10 to $15 per foot. I don’t dry RV’s. Instead I do this th-cam.com/video/hW0WupZ6KtM/w-d-xo.html
Yea, I’m in the process of locating a DI tank. We don’t get enough rain for this. I’m going to need it for long term anyway so I’ll just get one of those tanks.
I have an 3500 psi industrial pressure washer for RV’s. It’s probably a little overkill. 1800 psi will work but might take more time due to less volume off water especially when rinsing the soap off. But it is much safer than 3500 psi
It is dangerous. You have to be cautious, sure footed and take baby steps. Best to start from the front and work back to the ladder in section so your always on a dry surface.
@@TheDetailingBusiness thank you. Maybe I will get the courage to do this. I have a 31ft C class I live in full time. I saw you stepping on the wet parts and was impressed.
What’s up brother. Thanks for this video! I got a call from a customer about cleaning their 2020 Milestone Trailer. How would you go about just washing? I’m ordering the foam cannon you have listed and was wondering if I should purchase the brush and pink stuff?
You’ll likely need a brush and definitely soap. You can use a wash and wax soap. An ounce of 2 in your foam cannon topped off with water. Something like meguiars wash and wax soap will work. The pink stuff doesn’t have a wax. Just soap
Well I really don’t have any do’s and don’ts that I can think of. When you say hired by a dealer, do you mean as an employee, or as a private contractor?
My camper doesn’t have a ladder. I’m going to put a ladder on the back of my truck and try to climb up there. My truck bed has blown in insulation so it’s not as slippery as the ground.

I see you listed the Ryobi Pressure Washer. Have you had it long? Has it held up? I'm considering buying one.
Ive had it a little over a year. No problems. Here’s a playlist of how I installed it. th-cam.com/play/PLegj8pfb6Nb1IJMPhI2Cl0B2pcrfOT_K3.html
How much you think for wash one like that?
I charge by the foot. $10-$20 per foot depending on how detailed I go
Great video. What silicone did you use? Lock tight?
Thank you! I used some RTV silicone I had on hand
@@TheDetailingBusiness thank you
Do the products you use remove pine sap?
Unfortunately no. Might try rubbing alcohol first
What is your pressure washer of choice and what psi is acceptable for use? Everyone seems to have a different opinion. To be safe, I might get an electric for the cars/fifth wheel and a gas for jobs that need more muscle. I would like to get away with one if possible.
My daily detail rig has a electric 1800 psi 1.2 gallon per minute pressure washer. It’s perfect for every day detailing and my 50 gallon tank is enough to get through the day. However I do have a gas 3000 psi 4 gallon per minute that I use for the big stuff like RVs. The 1800 psi isn’t enough. So you have to weigh your options
I have a ryobi 3200 psi 2.8 gpm gas powered pressure washer and id never use an electric again. No point in having two i dont think
I agree with you. However the dilemma is, gas powered is noisy. And in the quiet neighborhoods I work in, and with everyone working from home, people get angry with the noise.
@@braidencarter6805 I bought a Westinghouse 3200. I'm glad I went with gas.
Do you suggest using the hyper wash before using the hydro2? Or just use one or the other?
@@TheDetailingBusiness thank you very much for the information! I really appreciate it!
I don’t see the reply about which you use first ? or just one or the other?
How much do you usually charge with wash?
I charge by the foot. $10-$20 per foot depending on how detailed I go
How much do you charge for something like this? I’m going to do a quote on one here in the next hour or so,, but they want the interior done also. But, how do you dry the outside without DI water?
I’ve never done rv interiors. Exterior I usually charge $10 to $15 per foot. I don’t dry RV’s. Instead I do this th-cam.com/video/hW0WupZ6KtM/w-d-xo.html
Yea, I’m in the process of locating a DI tank. We don’t get enough rain for this. I’m going to need it for long term anyway so I’ll just get one of those tanks.
Thank you for responding.
Believe it or not, a quarter inch of rain will fill that tank from empty to full since I’m using about 50 ft of gutter
What kind of Psi do you use on RV is 1800 ok ?
I have an 3500 psi industrial pressure washer for RV’s. It’s probably a little overkill. 1800 psi will work but might take more time due to less volume off water especially when rinsing the soap off. But it is much safer than 3500 psi
How do you not slip on the roof? I’m nervous to try myself. I feel like I could do everything but the roof
Just be safe and if your not comfortable, don’t do it
What’s up brother.
Just soap
Great video! Do you apply the Hydro the same method as you did Hyper wash?
Thank you. Yes same process
Do you dry or do the windows
I go over them with glass cleaner after washing
I'm getting hired on to wash RVs for a RV dealer what are the dos and don't
Well I really don’t have any do’s and don’ts that I can think of. When you say hired by a dealer, do you mean as an employee, or as a private contractor?
Imagine vacuuming that interior DJ haha take a full day just vacuuming
@@TheDetailingBusiness you'd need an industrial beast of a vac for that
@@TheDetailingBusiness loving having your videos back again anyway buddy. Keep up the good work
How long after you applied the silicone, did you wait to wash?
24 hours
My camper doesn’t have a ladder. I’m going to put a ladder on the back of my truck and try to climb up there. My truck bed has blown in insulation so it’s not as slippery as the ground.
Just know, if your camper doesn’t have a ladder, the roof wasn’t structurally designed to walk on
Do you go over this with the customer?
Not totally. I usually do my inspection, and bring the customer out if I need them to make a decision on something that I found
Title says how to wash and wax like a pro. Is the hydro o2 the wax?
Technically the hydro 2 is a water activated silica sealant. However “How to wash and apply a water activated silica sealant like a pro” wasn’t getting very many views for some reason
So ur using silicone to seal the exterior? I would never use silicone. Wont hold up. Not the right stuff
It’s been 3 years. Still holding strong
@@TheDetailingBusiness glad it works for you. I’ve never had good luck with silicone and it’s a major pain to remove. I’ll stick to the stuff made for the roof
WD-40 will take off the bLack streaks left by rubber seals
Where was the waxing part?
The soap I am using is carpro hydro 2 foam. Like I explained in the video, it cleans, and leaves a durable sealant in one step. amzn.to/36YBlrL

You could tell where that caulk was missing that it wasn't done properly when manufactured. Says A LOT about that brand.
Wash RV at local dealer 100 bucks, teach a man to wash his own RV forever 150 bucks just ordered the items !!! Thank you !!
Awesome. Good luck
Looks like a lot of work to own and maintain an RV. I think I'll stick to tent camping.
My tent has wheels on.it. also AC and hot water
Not really if you have basic knowledge of electric, plumbing, and general maintenance of something. Compared to boat detailing this is much better.
Nice video. However, I would never use a brush.
Then don’t
Or a power washer with that much force.
Anything else?
Doesn't look very cloudy or very shaded where you are
I’m a professional
Am I the only one bothered by the fact that he started the rinse at the bottom?
Yes
"foam" doesn't clean anything
Thanks for your comment. You mean I’ve been doing it wrong for 20 years? Tell me more!!!
@@TheDetailingBusiness You have more foam than a Euro dance rave. Have you ever heard the term, "a dab will do you" A little squirt of soap will do the same job as your foam party.
Get on with it........
To be honest, you need more experience on washing. I know this cause I do it everyday.
Lol. Congratulations
@@TheDetailingBusiness your still green
Someone should make a video about how awesome you are at doing something that everyone can do. Still wondering why your searching “how to wash an rv” if your so awesome at it. You must be young. That’s ok. Beat up on the old guy if it makes you feel tough.
No way will I ever use a broom to wash my RV
Do it by hand. Every inch. And when your done, do your neighbors by hand. Then get up the next day and do it again. Repeat that every day, then let me know if your comment is still true. Not a broom by the way.
@@TheDetailingBusiness They Make a microfiber mitt type attachment I have several I use on my Semi truck.

Will this removed light oxidation?
Maybe if you scrub hard enough. Oxidation likely requires a machine polisher and a compound or polish
