Hey doc it's Linda down here in Florida. I gotta tell you this little story....I had a white German Shepard..he had a seizure about once a month. It was horrible..well I was feeding him pedigree dry dog food and I had ran out of it. When I got to the store they were out of stock so I got him a different kind of dog food til the store was restocked with the pedigree...well the dog really liked the new food so I kept buying it...the new food was dog chow.....well low and behold ..NO MORE SEIZURES!!!! WOW!!!! Well for some reason I had got a bag of pedigree in between the dog chow ....and the friggin seizure s started again .. I thought no way...so back to dog chow and No SEIZURES again....come to find out it was the red dye on the pedigree dog dood....some of the nuggets in the bag were dyed red and that's what caused the SEIZURES....hes been on. Dog chow for 3 years with no seizures at all.....i did loose him to old age 4 months ago ...i miss him. But maybe my story can help some of your viewers. Check their diet first it could be part or all of the problem

I agree! Pedigree is causing lots of illnesses. It's work, but I feed mine a raw meat diet w veggies, flaxmeal and vitamins. They sure seem a lot healthier and calmer.

Same story here with my 9 yr old Husky. I ran out of Fromm dry food and gave him Iams
He had a grand mal seizure (I did not make the connection) got Fromm for the next two bags no seizure ran out boughtIams he had another seizure. Changed his diet to homemade food, MCT oil, Reish mushroom, CBD, Hugginles daily multivitamin Four months of no seizures then one focal seizure.
I think regimen is working for the most part you must be strict with diet as well as supplements.

Not knowing why my dog was acting CRAZY, it dawned on me he was having a seizure, as I had had YEARS, ago. Personally, I knew what he needed. Experience brings progress. NO MEDS at all. Holding and having affection is the MAIN prescription!😊

    1. Alter diet, add MCT oil to the diet: 1 teaspoon/ 10lbs (pounds) twice daily
    2. Omega 3: 1000mg/10lbs, daily, start with a lower dosis: 1 teaspoon/10lbs twice daily
    3.Cholidin, 1 tab / 20 lbs
    4. Acupressure GV26 - point, press on it for 30 -60 seconds: twice daily, minimum 1 month
    5. CBD oil: 1mg/10lbs, 20 drops = 5mg

Even though I told my vet that I feed my dog meat and vegetables, he wanted me to feed her that neuro care 💩 I told him no and he looked at me like I said I said I can cure cancer with tea tree oil. He went on about it's backed by science, insinuating functional medicine isn't. I'm sure the pet food industry paid for that bit of science. The main ingredients are corn and wheat flour.
    Thanks Dr Jones, you're a star. 🤩

@@VeterinarySecrets Great video, however my friend is having a real difficult time with her poodle when he is coming out of the seizure, he seems to not know where he is or who she is and starts growling, coming after her, she says she calls his name, tells him who she is and that everything is okay, but it takes him awhile to realize what is happening. We know this can the process sometimes with a dog with seizures, but is there anything to make the transition easier? She is afraid he might hurt her? Plus afterwards he has energy like a "puppy", which can last sometimes 2 hours. He is 9/10 years old, on medication,(don't now the name)

Thank you for breaking it down like you did. My Standard poodle has her 1st one 2 years ago this week. She seems to have about 10 a year. The first 2 she had (4 months apart) were well over 3 minutes. She can feel them coming on and tries to come find me. The rest have been about 2-3 min. Comes out of them very euphoric and happy. She just had one Dec 28th, 2022 and it was almost 8 minutes long. I know this because I try and video them in case my vet or anyone needs to see them. She is on 125mg Zonisamide twice a day. Anyway my point is that I very much appreciated your video. Valerie

My 13 year old golden retriever Matu had been struggling with degenerative myelopathy and hip dysplasia since early 2017 and while it was harder to walk, he was still happy. He ate his food, drank his water and enjoyed his kong toy on the weekends. I also took him swimming every single day to keep his strength up and to loosen up his joints without any pressure on his legs. Last night after his normal routine of going out, doing his business (with some help) and then coming in for bed, he had a seizure which my family and I had never experienced before and it was one of the hardest things to watch. We had to make an emergency house call to come put him down. He calmed down before they arrived and thankfully was tired out enough that he went very peacefully.
I know this may not be the place, but I just needed a place to vent so to speak and this seemed relevant as I was watching your other video about Grief. I have been watching your channel for information over the last 2 years and appreciate that you take the time to make these. Keep up the good work that you're doing.

It IS the place. This is where empathetic pet lovers can unload their troubles. We've all been there. I had 2 Goldens who ultimately died of cancer, but one started getting seizures right after a rabies vaccine. That set me down the rabbit hole to research vaccines. (Short version: One rabies vaccine has been proven to last the life of the dog. See the research by Dr. Jeanine Dodds. There is a titre test you can have done, but it won't do you any good. The law is messed up. Only a vaccine rabies certificate is acceptable by law. It requires excessive vaccines which ultimately weaken the health of the animal. Anyway, just remember your Matu may be gone physically, but the love lasts forever.

I can’t wait to try these remedies. My rescue Papillon came to me with a brain tumor and hydrocephilitis. His primary seizures are under control, but the fly biting syndrome continues to get worse. I’m trying to find remedies for the fly biting because I can tell he’s very distressed when they occur. When it gets bad, I give him gabapentin to sedate him a bit and that helps. But I’d like to find a more natural way of treating this. I already ordered and used Dr. Jones’s CBD oil, but it didn’t have any effect on this dog.

My 4 yr old has been having seizures for two years. I recently stopped bromide and Phenobarbital and went onto Keppra as his liver enzymes were rising. Even with the medication, he was seizing tonic clonic clusters lasting up to 3 days. He has been treated with half a bromide, omega 3 and cbd oil twice daily only for over 2 weeks now and so far no seizures (knock on wood).i would never have had the confidence to stop his medication without you 🌸🐾

Thank you Dr. Andrew you are truly a Blessing seeing how you truly care about God's smaller creatures. I have a 13 yr. old Yorkie female that had seizures about a year ago. I took her to the vet and after a series of labs was diagnosed with seizures and was put on Zonisamide capsules 25 mg. I don't have a clear understanding if she's supposed to be on the Zonisamide the rest of her life. I feel bad giving her a chemical daily. She weighs about 11 lbs and will turn 14 May 8th. She's healthy and has not had any seizures at all after starting the medicine. I have t watch the rest of your videos on this subject I have been watching so many of your beautifully done videos on many other subjects. Much love and 🙏 respect.

Hi Dr. Jones. I’m so glad I found your videos. I have a 12 year old Weimaraner in good health and had her first seizure at 2am the other night. I was frantic and took her to the emergency vet. They put her on the generic keppra and told me do not miss a dose! I don’t want her on these meds she is sedative sleeps all day and when she gets up and walks you can see she’s dropped up. I have ordered all your remedies and plan to start them as soon as they arrive. However, What is the best way to ween her off the meds? I don’t think I should just stop cold Turkey. Should I start your remedies while she’s on the meds then ween her off. What’s your suggestion! She is my life I’ll do anything for her. Thanks for truly loving the animals.

My 11-year-old mixed-breed dog has had three spells of confusion and muscle rigidity. Not a full-blown seizure from your description. And all three times I suspected her dog food. I stopped feeding her that bag of food and no more problems, until years later. She starts pacing and being clingy. The first two I was standing next to her. She was standing and started leaning into my hand. Soon all her weight was in my hand. Her eyes showed her confusion. I held her and soothed her and it passed within 3 minutes. Same scenario for her second within that month. Fast forward at least 3 years and she had another one. This time she was clingy. Then she stepped away and I noticed her left front leg was rigid and she held it up in the air. I moved her to her bed and laid on top of her to comfort her. She was trembling slightly. It passed in about 3 minutes. Is this a seizure? Again, I switch dog food and she hasn't had any more.

It was from taxoplasmosis from cat faeces. He was given ivermectin after having 3 seizures in 2 days and his seizures stopped. He has gone back to sleeping peacefully again. Amazing. Thank God!

I love how they got real calm after the oil at the end. ^.^ Ohh and wanted to ask you what you think about this. My Buster has had seizures all his little life. He is a long haired chihuahua. Sweetest lil guy ya could ever meet. Well to me anyways. ^.^ He is a male dog and is now about 9 years old. He had Kennel Cough when he was barely brought into this world. I hand fed him and later when well he started having seizures. I tried everything and nothing helped until one day he had a full blown one that wasn't going away. He began hassling and was over heating. I told my daughter to bring me an icepack and I placed the ice pack on the back of his head. It helped him stay cool as well as kept his brain from causing a stroke. We were desperate cause no vet offices were open.
My daughter got on her phone and looked up what could help . We had found 3 options. But the one that seemed to bounce out at me was Vit.C melting tablets. I just happen to have some in my emergency kit. I grabbed them and chewed a little and placed it into his mouth best I could. He never tried to bit me or anyone. His legs would draw up towards his head and become stiff of course. He would growl but never bite. Ok now to what was the result? It began to stop the seizure almost immediately. I have used it from then on when he would have a seizure and same thing every time. They would almost go away as soon as I placed it in and under his tongue . He has almost gone a whole year before the last one he had right before Christmas. None again since.
My question is ,can VitC be helpful with this? It worked every time so I just have always felt it was the Vit C cause I have never used anything else but that.

I started giving her your CBD oil and other supplements you have recommended in previous videos and she has gain her weight back and her strength, she has not had a seizure since and she is doing fantastic. She is 12, so chemo and radiation is a No due to her age. I do have a question. I have been giving her Red Reishi and tumeric as well, i have read it helps with dogs with tumors. Is it safe? should i continue with red Reishi for the rest of her life or do i have to give it a break once in a while.

    Hi Dr. Andrew,
Great video. I have a question. Our 3 year old Huskie starting having cruster secures 2 months ago. We took him to vet and gave them some IV medication and went home with Zonisamide to take twice daily and LevETIRAAcetam for next 24 hours until no seizures. It worked.
We decided to reduce Zonisamide to once daily to see if we could ease him out of medicine. It worked for three weeks and he had two seizures and we started giving him LevETIRAAcetam to help.
It helped a little as he is not having full seizures but is having one an hour standing up where he open and closes his mouth while foaming, Last about 20 sec. But is having them every hour.
Is he stuck taking medicine for his whole live or do you think these natural remedies that you recommend would be better than the medicine? Thank you.
