I just watched another video that said removing the uterus shortens the life of the dog and also spaying and neutering reduces lifespan of dogs. Very interesting. Thank you for this informative video! Love the help!!!! Here is the link for the other video if you want. th-cam.com/video/VLDzwMY5j0c/w-d-xo.html
Hi Rachel can you explain this? I did what you taught of waking up at night 1-2h but a trainer i went too said no you cant do that cause your dog will expect you to take them out all the time is that true?
What a good video with good options to consider .. thank you .. I’m looking for homemade food options for puppy owners.. what to feed them to give them those xtra nutrients they say need during puppy growth.. and when to begin the homemade diet .. I’m just not finding much for puppies .. Thanks again.. good video with good options..
I just lost my large breed 12 yr old female a few months ago. I chose not to spay her after much research and agonizing over whether it was the right decision. I will say that she went her life without cancer, without thyroid issues, without pyometra or mammary tumours and she was never incontinent, not had a single accident during her senior years. She was the best girl.
@@kristyrhodes54 She was a very beautiful Golden Retriever (English style). My whole heart is broken. She was my first dog that I kept intact. Previously I had lost a Golden male to Lymphoma (age 10) - he was neutered around 1 yr old. Also lost a gorgeous male Sheltie (age 10) to Gallbladder Mucocele rupture - tried to do surgery but found he had cancer spots on liver/spleen at that time, so vets said surgery wasn't an option - my sheltie was neutered at 6 months (terrible decision!). If you have a female that you're keeping intact for short or long term - I highly, highly recommend the "dog thong" style of panties. I've tried every panty style/brand from custom made to pet shop brands and found this late in her life but wow - what a huge difference it made in making her heats easy (for both me and her). I bought a few from Pants for Dogs (website). So much easier than conventional 'undie' style briefs because it allows full range of motion in the hips and upper thighs and doesn't slip or need any adjustments once it's on. Great design. I lined them with the Always (dry weave) panty liners or thin pads and washed her bits regularly so she was kept very clean. Pyo bacteria can enter during the heat because the uterus is open during those 3 weeks, so you do have to be careful during that time period. I was always nervous about Pyo but if you keep 'checking' for discharge and monitor her general health between 2-8 weeks after a heat cycle is over, you're in the clear. During that time frame, I would always make sure to gently wipe her after urination with a soft Kleenex to make sure it was just pee and nothing brown or pus-like, which could indicate infection.
From a fellow Kristin, I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our 10 month old puppy over the summer and after learning all this about dog food, shots, spaying, we might not get another one at this stage in our lives, sadly.
@@kjkernSerendipity Only 10 months old? Oh my. I'm so very sorry - I can't even imagine something like this. I too, contemplate bringing another Golden puppy home at some point but I don't know if my heart can handle it all again. I still sob every night and have gotten to hiding it from others because they think I should be past my grief by now. They bring so much incredible joy and then so much inevitable pain. With regards to the never-ending "am I don't the right thing" when it comes to dog care, I feel like sometimes it's best to avoid the online debates and just trust your gut. I know it's easier said than done - I too have been consumed by those same topics for years. I'm just so sorry for the loss of your puppy. My neighbours lost their young standard poodle to bloat a few years ago (they'd never heard of it, and the dog ate dinner too soon after a run at the park and the Vet ER couldn't save him) and they never got another one because of their grief. I totally get it.
@@Kristin2885 Thank you for your reply. It's often not easy to know what the right thing to do is. We love our pets the best way we know how and like you said trust our gut.
Ive had as many as 20 dogs in my home at one time over the years and consistently 5 or 6 , none spayed or neutered and there has NEVER been an accident.
I saw your video with this vet about vaccinations and right afterward I called the vet clinic about rabies shots and other core vaccinations. This clinic insisted upon yearly shots and wouldn't listen to any other option even after I mentioned AVMA recommendations. I canceled our dogs appointment the next day (the girl I talked to became very angry) and immediately started searching for another vet. I found one who recommends rabies shots every 3 years so we're going there. They don't seem to realize all those shots could be detrimental to your dogs health.
In our county they require annual rabies shots. The previous county I lived in only required it every 3 years. I told the new vet that the research shows that immunity lasts far longer than a year. Got nowhere!! Also, I got my dog spayed at a year old and now, after seeing this video information, I regret that and worry about my dog's future!😢
HOW beautiful you share this , when I think about it, many vets do not care about our animals. I stopped vaccinating my cats 3 years ago, if I only knew b4. MY cats , Leo and Felix are OK. I got spooky2 rifle machine, and I have been using it on them via nails, frequencies. My family is also OK. Just Sharing ❤
I live in the States but am from France and we did not spay or neuter our dogs and they lived a long life on some raw and sometimes cooked food. We just separated the females from the boys when in heat! Period! Here in the States, I show and breed occasionally, our dogs are intact! Let’s hav more talk about raw feeding, I have followed the recommendations of Dr Karen Becker for years. Her recipe book is great. My oldest dog died last November after having a stroke, she lived to be 20!
All my dogs have eaten a complete raw diet and I have only the best results i.e. length of life, few or no health issues at all, vivacity till very old age, fresh breath etc.
Yes and have you seen the rates of abandoned dogs in France lately, it is shocking, Perhaps if more people acted responsibly and had their dogs neutered it would not be such a problem and we would see less dogs in shelters and having to be destroyed. As for non neutering, if you are not breeding from your dog, then you are restricting its access to mating and this causes dogs to suffer stress and frustration for in the animal kingdom it is all about procreation. Neutering removes the animals constant health draining desires and stresses of searching for a mate.
I don’t think that spay/neutered dogs are shortening the lifespan of the dog it’s the food. A lot of dog food is toxic in this country. In France the dog food might be healthier and better quality
@@samm4265 Not spaying and neutering their pets does not create people's abandoning behavior. Bad character falls on its own. What the responsible used to do was to simply separate male dogs from female dogs when the female dogs were in heat, and the same with cats.
I have been saying this for years and thus refused to neuter my dog .. It baffles my mind to see advocates bash tail docking or ear cropping and in the next breath recommend a neuter. I just walked out of their clinic and never returned. Ever.
Can we talk about how we as pet owners are completely shamed by EVERYONE for not getting our pet spayed/neutered?! I am a responsible dog mom of an 11 year old Boston. She is never left unattended with any male dogs and is never roaming around town on her own. The amount of harassment I have received over not having her fixed is insane. When ppl find out, they immediately look at me as “neglectful” for just leaving my dog intact as God intended her to be
I have 3 male dogs - 2 are intact and healthy and happy. The 3rd dog vets convinced me to neuter due to a lipoma...he is now overweight and has health issues. spaying or neutering is lucrative and a huge moneymaker. The majority of people are asleep and will believe the masses. Nobody thinks independently. Sad Thanks for having the guts to share this
Well, you can’t just „think for yourself“ if neutering is good or not. You need to believe someone who knows better than you and most often, believing „the masses“ is in fact your best option. Don’t misunderstand me please, I’m sorry for your buddie and wish him all the best. Also, what these guys say might make sense. But the reasoning of you’re text makes absolutely no sense to me.
My dog was healthy most of his life and then he had to pee but couldn't we took him to emergency vet. They sent us to a more advance hospital and they did a surgery for urinary, dang it was some stones I think and they pushed the getting him neutered so we trusted them and okayed it. After that he gained weight and even with his healthy diet and exercise it didn't keep him from gaining weight and declining health wise the last 2 years he was still with us ,he was always more tired etc. My fiance and I regret ever having him neutered. We had to put him down last March and miss him so much
The reason spay and neuter is important is due to the massive overload of dogs in shelters. They euthanize so many due to unwanted litters of puppies, why do you think so many dogs get dumped and it is now illegal.
You can’t always prevent your dog from escaping a yard and getting out to breed. A male dog intact can smell a female dog from miles away so you can bet he’s going to try and find her. It’s irresponsible not to spay or neuter
I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide th-cam.com/users/postUgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYk0d is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!
I researched this last fall and made the decision to not neuter my standard poodle. He doesn't run loose at all, is not at all aggressive, and is a happy healthy furbaby. I felt in my gut to research this time and am glad I did.
I am currently looking into getting that breed of dog and thought to nueter, extremely informative for sure. Nice to read a comment or two about this, thanks!
That's fine if you have him secured behind a physical fence and well supervised to prevent potential escapes. The standard poodle is a remarkable sporting breed as is. Since he is staying intact, don't doodle that poodle.
The only reason I'm worried about not spaying my new pup, is because it does prevent cancers from developing in the future. My last furbaby passed away from cancer at age 14, she was never spayed or anything. 🙁
I have a 1 year old GSD who's not neutered. He's perfectly healthy, has no unwanted aggression issues, and has very nice body conformation and muscling. Neuter is well known to drastically increase the risk of hip dysplasia in Shepherds, so he will never be neutered at all. They are already prone to it as a breed, but fixing them at any point in their life pretty much guarantees they'll get it. One of my friend's Shepherds comes from a GSD show breeder, and she has a life time health guarantee for all the puppies she sells. Except if you fix them, then the health guarantee is null and void, because it will cause issues they wouldn't get if left unaltered.
My sheltie got pyometra at age 13. I didn’t know she had an infection. I just thought it was a weird heat. When I took her to the vet, they said she needed an emergency surgery or to take her home and she would be gone in two weeks. We had her spayed and she had a full recovery. And we had her for another four years. She passed when she was 17 back in 2011. She didn’t have any problems. She had all her teeth and they were very beautiful, she wasn’t incontinent or other issues. The vet did find a tumor on her liver, but because of her age, he didn’t feel they should do anything invasive. She was the best dog…I miss her. Thank you so much for this video! I have two new puppies that are three. Theiy are sibling sisters and intact. And I do believe when the time comes, I will just have their uterus removed. Thank you so much for this wonderful information!
I have a female boxer that we love beyond words. She is 3.5 years old. I have not been able to bring her to be spayed (I had even once made an appointment and cancelled it). I am afraid of something going wrong (I know someone whose male puppy died on the the table too). At the same time I am reading about pyometra and I am terrified of it. I don’t really know what to do. I hear both sides. She is healthy and on 100% raw food.
so sorry. that is horrifying. did that vet suggest blood work/see some boxers have issues with anesthesia thought they could test that? vets today not all but many are highly incompetent.i experienced incompetence w my horses.
I am a retired senior vet nurse in OZ and now have my own boarding facility. I try to educate guardians on some of this especially over vaxing. Im so disgusted with vets pushing so many things that are detrimental to pets health. Great to listen to you both x
I agree. I only had the initial puppy vaccines for my girl because it was a requirement of the rescue I adopted her from, as was spaying. I've also lost a puppy to parvo at the age of nine months several years ago. 😪
I've been saying this for years and have fone multiple vids on it and the backlash I get from some people is mind blowing. Thank you for pushing this matter as we all want healthy happy dogs.
The sad reality that I'm encountering is so many services are being denied to my pup because I don't have him neutered. I picked him up from daycare yesterday & was told he can't come back until he's neutered because he'll be 7 months old next week. The same with a trainer & even some sitters. I feel like my hand is being forced because the lifestyle I have really benefits from these services.
@@Dani._ellaSorry to say but most hotels will not allow pets..... Motel 6 is about the only one I've ever been able to find & maybe some off motel..... Holiday Inn won't allow pets.... So I refuse to ever stay at any hotel if they don't allow dogs......

You can understand why they can't have a room full of dogs mixing together that are not neutered or spayed. Intact male dogs are going to be more likely to fight and be more interested in sniffing out the females and becoming annoyance. The other owners will be very irate. I guess you have to decide which is most important for you.
Great and informative video. Rachel you have change my life as a pet parent! You have stepped up my game and I am doing things very differently. It's shocking to hear how much we are doing wrong and the bottom line is pharmaceutical companies are making tons of money off of humans and pets!
Tons of money. Shoveling covid vaccines on pregnant women and babies is super F u cked up. If it's damaging to a dog, it's damaging to humans, especially young ones.
Thank you so much, I was on the fence, but now I have made my decision, my boy is staying intact, he was a daddy for babies that went to people that lost there senior dogs, and he is going to be done, and that subject came up, there is really no reason to fix him, he is always with me, and is never around other dogs unattended, so I really didn't want to do that to him, and now I have no doubts... Thank you!!!🐩
HOLY CRAP!! This explained Alot Rachel, with Neuter/Spay situation that Blew my mind, literally.....Just got a New 5 month old boy Pomeranian. My last Pom passed away unexpectingly, 😢😢😢 at 11 yrs old, still trying to deal with it......his name was Timba & he did get neutered & became extremely overweight (even with exercise), walking. Guess what?? NOT getting "Janko" fixed......Point, Blank, Period. There was a reason Why I watched this Video & Now Im Subscribed. Thank You, Sooooooooo Much, Rachel!!
I am from the UK I had a Golden female, intact, did not have any litter, she had an infection of her uterus when she was 7 and yes after we had to remove it (life-threatening) - yes her personality changed after that. We moved to the US when she was 10, she passed away at age 14. I now have an Irish Setter male and he is intact, my house is not ...but that is fine 🙂 On the raw feed or feed actual food - the Vet jumped all over me for that one, I suggested he start eating kibbles daily and let me know how he feels, I do not drink the pharmaceutical industry cool-aid for my pets or for my kids🙂
I was curious what the oldest dog in the world ate... he ate regular table food all his light and just roamed around the property off leash. So don't make anyone make you feel bad for feeding your dog actual food. :)
Thanks for this! I had my Frenchie scheduled for a neuter in 3 days, he turns 1 year old in 5 days. I just called to cancel, realized I need to do more research. I wasn't even searching for this topic, yt just pushed it to me! lol, they're listening! :p Anyway, tyvm. ❤
I canceled our male’s neutering the DAY before his scheduled surgery, based on an article our breeder forwarded to me by Dr. Karen Becker, DVM. She WAS a staunch proponent of spaying and neutering until she saw many of their patients come in a few years later with severe joint issues, incontinence and a host of other ailments and issues. She did her research just as Dr. Morgan. Our male is doing fantastic! (Our neutered male before had skin and severe joint issues, in addition to developing Cushings). We started feeding raw when he turned 2 and he is almost 11yo now. He is playful as a puppy, and has bright eyes and beautiful coat and skin. Just thought I’d share our experience with you and others who may be on the fence. Take good care and give your pup a kiss on the forehead for me! 😊
I have a 3 year old female boxer. Last year I cancelled the appointment too. I don’t think I can do this to her. We love her too much. We take a very good care of her and feed her good quality raw food. Do not give her any pharma products. I am just too worried reading about pyometra. That’s the only thing that makes me nervous about her not being spayed 🤞
I signed a contract too after purchasing my dog and they never gave a crap whether i spad her or not . So i ignored the contract and almost 3 years later they never contacted me ever
A University of Georgia study, based on the medical records of more than 70,000 animal patients, found that the life expectancy of neutered male dogs was 13.8% longer and that of spayed female dogs was 26.3% longer.
When I was growing up in the 1960s and 70s, hardly anyone got their dogs or cats fixed. The intact animals didn't live long. By the 1980s my parents started spaying and neutering their dogs and cats young. They lived much longer than our earlier animals, were healthier overall, and didn't become overweight.
I pray one day we have many more vets like Dr. Judy. You are right. The only way it changes if we demand it...find another vet. Well over a decade ago I started feeding a raw diet. My vet of at least 20yrs, although polite, told me I was going to kill our dogs. I found another vet. And the thing is, although the vets did not feed raw, ALL of the front desk help did. If our dogs could have talked, I swear they would have cheered.😅 Of course, we were holding our breath, but within days, seeing the difference in the dogs...their attitudes, their coats, their smaller poops that just dissolved from the sun and rain...I never looked back. Thank you for this very interesting discussion about spaying/neutering. It actually makes perfect sense. Keep these great talks coming! We are on the cusp of big changes in our world...all for the better.
Wow, I just came across this video & information on spaying your rescue dogs & I got my dog from a rescue at 10 weeks old, and she’s a lab/ pit she just turned 7 years old at the beginning of February and she now has her two hind legs blown ACL & meniscus, and hip dysplasia in her right hip and also osteoarthritis in her right hip. She’s suffering bad. I’m so sick from it it’s so crazy. She has had a very comfortable life, I given her a bed in almost every room. I always felt bad for dogs that lay on hard title floors, it breaks my heart. I covered my beds, sofa & she was aloud on all the time. She was spayed before I even got her in Naples, Fl. and came with more medical than any of my other rescues. Hearing this makes so much sense. I had a dog that was given to my family when I was five years old, he was never neutered and lived till 16 years old. The healthiest dog I ever had never had a thing wrong with him. Died of old age . RIP Shots weren’t so pushed like today. It just seems like what ever,” I’ll call they” have their hand in is sure enough to change things! My grandmother was 97 years old when she died, born in 1911. Again she never had to much wrong with her, she had arthritis in her hands, and her legs, dementia set in in her late 80s think it was 89 or 90, which again no surgeries or anything. When they start to put themselves into our bodies things seem to go downhill! I just wanted to thank you, I know it’s to late for my girl that I love more than life itself. It’s just a heads up to new pet parents. What you say about food, to taking care of your dos, and cat’s are the best information out there from both of you ! Say a prayer for my girl, I can’t stop thinking, how I will be without her loving soul. I breaks my spirit to know I have to make a big decision soon so she doesn’t keep suffering. I just found this out as of two weeks ago. SMH, 😢 I believe what’s come of what I thought might be a pulled muscle. My Jada is a jovial still so playful, and full of life. I had to put my four year old Shih Tzu down from ketoacidosis, it took 48 hours from a young lil boy, to a dying lil old man in front of my eyes. Nothing hurst more than the pain from our love for our family members dying & getting sick before their time …. Thank you for all your information it does make a lot of sense. Appreciate your work to you both. 🐕🐾🍗 🙏🏽💔😢🐕😩 🙏🏽
I am so grateful for this info ! A few years ago I had a beautiful yorkie and at first I didn’t wanted to spay her but I had to ..when I did that she was 5 years old.. after that procedure in a few months length she start getting sick , licking herself non stop and even had a seizure, her eating habits start changing , her hair grayed and thinning , almost everything was wrong ! this baby was very healthy prior to this procedure , how this can happen ? .. So the vet diagnosed her with cushion and diabetes.! I had to give her insulin every day and her condition was improving but not able to control it though, and this vet said she needs a teeth cleaning and removal because this might be the cause why .? I was afraid but I was desperate to save my baby , after we did all blood work and checkup and I took her to have her procedure … an hour later I got a call that she died under anesthesia! I was devastated, is still hard to think of ! I regret trusting this vet , I thought I was doing good to take care of her , I listened to his advises since she was a puppy , but everything he did it was wrong , from food advices to vaccines and care . After listening to you podcast It confirmed my belief that spaying her started all ! God bless for informing us and guide us to keep our fur babies healthier ! 🙏🥰❤️
I also had Yorkshire terrier, loved her so much ,after watching this video I know that spaying was bad idea ,she became sick had a multitude of health problems and we also lost her just like you lost your yorkie I wish I knew this information before hand , however I know now and I will soon be getting a new puppy ,I certainly will not be spaying ,this video so informative and helpful glad I watched it ,may I also say I am so sorry that you also lost your yorkie
@@Moses81813 If a tumor removal is needed at that point I will just have to do anything to save her and I will accept surgery … Spaying or neutering your dog will alter the growth and development hormones , which messes with the health balance and that’s when issues start.. I had other dogs and spayed and neutered because that’s what I thought I should do and they died from complicated diseases but were different breeds and they were stronger than a yorkie …I think it’s important to find a good vet and consult .. Now I go to holistic doctors and take a different approach with everything including proper foods and treatments …

@@tashaax1993xanimalloverxplease stop. There is no proof that yours got it simply from Not being fixed. It could’ve been genetic or from vaccines or diet.
@@Gemigirl just LOTS and LOTS of LOVE! Honestly, because we had her before our kids, when she was a puppy she really was like our first "baby." 😊 We took her EVERYWHERE with us, and did everything with her. Because of that, she didn't even need to be leashed to walk, because she never left our side/sight. We basically just trained her by loving her(lots of exercise, attention, playtime etc.) and expecting her to behave in life's various situations. Also, remember that she/he will be a BIG dog once fully grown, so don't let the puppy do anything that you wouldn't want a full grown dog doing. Thank U both for talking about this - I instinctively wanted to keep our beautiful staffy-girl dog 'natural' - no ops or jabs (homeopathy & nosodes instead) & did my best to raw feed. I’ve fed my lab raw for 15 months, since he was 8 weeks old. That being said, I’d still love for you two to put out a talk on raw food and raw feeding. I’d enjoy listening and I’m sure it could be a great resource for many out there.
I have been feeding my Golden Retriever a raw food diet since we brought her home at 7 weeks old. She will be 2 years in October and is absolutely thriving. She will continue on this diet, will not be spayed an will not be subjected to the over vaccination that they are pushing for our pets.
As a public health epidemiologist I investigated many food-borne diseases in individual and groups of humans from disease agents that contaminated the meat during slaughter with bacteria from the animal's feces. Check out the websites of your local public health office, the cdc, or WHO for the statistics. I remember the E. coli O157:H7 outbreak from hamburger meat in the 1990s (look it up). I therefore will never eat nor give uncooked meat to any cat or dog.
I've had three dogs (one still with me. And the one that dies of organ failure ad I don't know how many things, was the only one of the 3 not neutered. (the other that died got a deadly disease from a rat that could kill a human if we were to get it.). So I didn't think it would be a problem
I wish I had waited to spay my baby maltipoo 😡 the vet never shared this info with me. And I didn’t have the education to know better back then. Yes, open to all the topics, including raw food. Confirming what I have thought all along. My female was spayed and the problems started from there. Constant UTIs for years, thyroid and incontinence issues and thousands of dollars in vet bills. If I only knew then. Felt so guilty I could not help my dog. Until I started making her food, all UTI gone! Unfortunately still on meds for thyroid and incontinence. On and do not get me started on reactions to the needle. Thank you for your channel and valuable information. Things need to change for the better for our family pets!
Thank you. I have get been given Flack for not fixing my dog. I grew up in the country and everybody's dog pretty much stayed healthy unaltered .then I get married and move to town and everybody's dogs are sick and they've all been fixed . Again thank you for getting this out there.
Rachel, thank you very much for all the great info you broadcast on your channel. All your guests are amazing people and professionals. We need more veterinarians and human doctors like them
We got our last dog from a shelter event at 10 weeks old, and she had already been spayed. I didn't even know that was a thing, and I certainly didn't know the potential repercussions. I can't prove it, of course, but after learning more from logical, nature-based professionals like these, I realize her lifelong urinary incontinence and extremely timid and fearful personality were likely directly related to the ridiculously early spay. In addition, she died from cancer that was probably caused by the crumby food we gave her without knowing any better and possibly the spay as well. We recently got a puppy, and I have learned so much and will continue to do so. Thank you Rachel and Dr. Morgan for all of the valuable information.
We have 5 months old puppy and I am doing research. Before I got our puppy, I was leaning more toward keeping him intact, so thank you for confirming my theory and research. I would definitely love to see more videos about raw food. Thank you!
This information is invaluable and I wish I knew this earlier. It explains issues my dogs currently are dealing. I am so grateful for the content you are putting out for us.....Bless you
@@lauragonzales8162 I believe the livestream I watched was longer( and covered more topics than just spay/neut) and this is a segment of that livestream. My male dog has mild issues(urine dribble, etc). Both dogs, male and female have multiple auto immune issues which I have no way of knowing but probably developed from over exposure to needles. Female(spayed) has pancreatitis and that developed right after a round of needles....I wish I had a better understanding and could have a do over for them. All I can do now is protect them and try to keep them healthy.
We have Great Pyrenees dogs. We routinely wait until the age of two for spay and neuter. Our youngest male we rescued at 9 months of age. He was posturing his previous owner (who was short statured) as well as her three year old child. Then he was also doing that to my husband and myself. As well as our female older Pyr. So we discussed the subject in detail with our vet and chose to neuter him at one year of age. He has stopped all posturing and gets along well now with our female Pyr. He has never been aggressive, only overactive during play. He is huge, standing 33” at the withers. He is very well behaved, never growling or nipping. The neuter immediately calmed him down, as he was very hard to control when we first got him. It was our only option as we would not rehome him again. He is living his best life here with us.
Thank you for making this video. I just got back home from my pups appointment to be neutered. My vet shared this same information with me and I left with my sweet boy intact. I decided not to neuter because there is no going back. I felt the research that she shared with me made me question why I would want to neuter, did I really want to or was expected to. Is it because of old information and was not aware of this new research. Happy with my decision and I know he is too. ❤️
Your vet is a honest professional. The health of her patients is more important for her than making more money doing unnecessary surgeries. Is your vet in USA or Canada?
Thank u so much, this Information us agod send we were looking to get our sweet boy neutered because his vet recommended and never mentioned anyone this I was never able to get him a appointment now I know why..God is watching over him because he knows how long I prayed for him..thank u
My girl was spayed way too early by her rescue (12 weeks) she has a recessed vulva and is prone to frequent UTI’s. It’s really sad that this was done to her and that she has to suffer the consequences of having been spayed way too young for the rest of her life…
@@Jfresh55 a vet and a specialist explained to me that it most certainly can cause it and increases the risk of this happening to a dog that is spayed too early. 12 weeks is way too early to spay a dog.
@@saltyprepper5513 I would never let that stop me from saving an animal from a shelter. I have a dog from a reputable breeder that ended up with horrible allergies just by chance. Sure getting your dog from a breeder increases your chances of getting a healthier dog etc. but it doesn’t always come without its drawbacks. I love both my shelter dog and my purebred dog just the same regardless of their issues and do not regret adopting a shelter dog.
@@Jfresh55 it most certainly can cause this as per her vet and a specialist whenever you spay an animal too early you increase the risk of this condition. My dog was not born this way, and we were told that she would most likely grow out of it. When she didn’t, we were given this very explanation.
Rachel, you are an ANGEL for me and so many others. I trained my puppy with your guidance in 2021 with such great success. I didn’t spay my dog, and have been doing a lot of ongoing research on this topic. This video is so valuable, and impeccably done. Blessings!
I love the information that you share here to help pet owners make informed decisions. My English Mastiff is almost two now and he will remain intact. He is so happy and healthy .
Really fabulous video!! I have an 18-month-old male intact Bernedoodle and am reading up on the research on the benefits of keeping male dogs intact. Thank you so much for this informative conversation.
If you adopt any pet from a shelter, they immediately neutered and /or spayed; Manatory in Az I've had 4 pets over the years who have all been neutered ( at various of ages.) and ALL lived to the average age of 15 yr with minimum health issues.
Thank you for doing this topic. I have a female golden doodle puppy and I don't know if I want to spay her. If you think about it, when women have hysterectomies we are prone to similar issues. I don't want to do something that will hinder her life quality. A lot to think about.
Great Vids!! 10 out of 10 fixed dog owners ive encountered can give me a whole list of things as to why fixing your dog is beneficial. None of them can give me a single reason of the bad side. Thank you for shedding light on this biased subject.
My German Shepherd is 6 years old and still intact but now has a tumor on the skin of his scrotal sac and has mammary gland infection. He is scheduled to have surgery to remove just the tumor since it is only on the skin right now. The tumor will be sent in for testing. I hate putting him through 2 surgeries if it turns out to be cancer. He also has severe bilateral hip dysplasia, penile infection, where pus comes out. I regret that I never neutered my dog when he was younger.
I haven't taken my dog back to the vet since finding you both. I know there will be times its necessary, but I'd rather know how to do everything for my best friend myself.
So glad I found this, we have two male dogs that we have chosen not to desex. Based on our gut feeling only and just loving their personality’s as they are. One is 2 1/2 years and one only 5 months old. We are penalised by Council when it comes to registration costs but now I will talk to our vet about a vasectomy and also call council to confirm they would accept that both boys are ‘desexed’. My 15 year old Dachshund is desexed and has had a life of many health issues. His reaction to his first vaccination was savage. His skin blistered all over his body and the itchiness drove him mad. He has not been vaccinated since then and contracted Kennel Cough last year but an antibiotic dealt with that in no time. Very interesting video. Thank you.
I am not a vet. I have, however, lost 2 Frenchies to mammary cancer and I do believe that not being spayed is the root of the cancer. My Frenchie now was spayed early and there are no cysts or lumps in her mammaries. One girl went from small lump to dead in 6 weeks. In addition to the heartbreak, you have to consider the cost of these treatments. I am a huge proponent of early spayed in bulldogs. I can't speak to other breeds.
Yes, please! I'd love to have a discussion about the benefits of raw feeding. My vet won't comment on it. So I'd like to hear from Dr. Judy, as a certified DVM.
My vet here in New Zealand stocks an incredible range of raw food and they promote it for animals. Since I changed my two dogs to the completely raw diet they are healthier, have very shiny coats, and have more energy. They have bones too, and green tripe to assist with the bones digestion. They need at least four different sources of protein per week for balance. We have prey foods, fish, and farmed animal meat. It's excellent.
I had a beautiful American Bulldog that I had spayed when I got her as a puppy. I wish I had known this before. Everyone always said I was over feeding her. I wasn’t , and I thought she may have a thyroid problem. My poor baby had arthritis too before she passed. I am subscribing and going to do more research. We have all of our animals spayed and neutered (going off of vets recommendations) but have a little male kitten that we were going to have neutered in a couple of months. I had no idea. Thank you for sharing this information.
American Bulldogs are prone to arthritis. I have two, 7 and 4 year old female American Bulldogs. Both are spay and neither have problems with arthritis as of yet ( fingers crossed ), my mom has a 14 year old American Bulldog, was spay when she was 9, who’s had arthritis and joint issues for as far back as I can remember. The mother dog of my two girls passed this summer of mammary cancer at 10 years old, she was never spay. I also have six cats, 8 months to 15 years old, all have been spay and neutered and all are healthy. None of our dogs or cats have ever had any type of vaccination. Our cats eat wet food in the morning and kibble in the evening, our dogs eat kibble only. My 13 year old Calico girl Muffin never went into heat from the time I got her at 6 weeks old, so I never got her spay. When she turned 5 she started urinating outside the box. We went thru UTI treatments, anti anxiety treatments, etc.; nothing helped. I finally decided to have her spay bc that was our last resort. The vet kept her right ovary for me to see when I picked her up that day. She had a mass on her ovary that was 2/3 the size of the ovary itself. Muffin hasn’t had an accident outside the box since. They’re inside only cats, they don’t get sick, no UTI’s, zero behavioral issues, and zero health issues what so ever. I really think it all boils down to the animal. Like humans, some are lucky enough to live into their senior years ( with loving hoomans of course ) while others are not.
And YES, please come back and talk about all of these topics! I really hated having to give my girl certain boosters as a pup because she wasn't around any other dogs then at all. (Pandemic pup) I'm not a fan of having to give her the rabies shot, but it's the law here. (She gets a drippy nose and pretty lethargic from it and pretty warm) Also the one required to put your dog anywhere if you have to leave and can't bring them with you but don't have a trusted family member to help. There are so many other things put into one booster! As for raw feeding, I was looking into doing it (Franken prey) for my ferrets before my last one got extremely ill and had to be put down from a fast growing tumor. I've been thinking of doing it for my dog, but definitely have run into the same issues and resistance you have. Maybe a few videos on how to start the transition, several reliable sources to buy from, the rules and guidelines of such a diet etc too?
I’d like to hear more on the annual recommended shots. I suspect my dog broke out with major allergies after he went through all his recommended puppy shots so would love to hear more
Good for u , however my girl has ended up with pyrometria and she went straight into surgery. She is 4,5 years never been spayed never had sex . Still ended up on surgery table..I'm broken u just can't win..😢
Thank you so much for this video! I’m a huge advocate for keeping dogs with responsible pet parents intact for as long as possible! We also feed our dogs raw and I would love to hear more about raw and the “yearly shot”. We are minimalist when it comes to vaccines and rely on titers before vaccination. I wish more states allowed a titer in place of a “yearly or three year shot”
THANKS Rachel and Dr. Judy as I have already fortunately encountered this info about larger breeds, mine is a G Doodle, but did not get the poodle look. She is petite so far, but her legs are going thru a growth spurt at 7 mos. I was blessed to find out this info before I opted for the conventional approach. Trouble is, as you indicated, the nearest vet that would do otherwise, ovary sparing, or tubel ligation is nearly 5 hours away... I will pray for this to change after her youthful heats. All of the negative changes that are happening in our world are offset by the exposure of incorrect lucrative practices that have cost us money and our pets' ultimate best lives. Time to make positive changes before it is to late to do so.
Thank you! I have been seriously wondering about this topic and I appreciate the information. Please do one about shots and I look forward to other topics that you create in the future.
I spayed my male dog at 8 years old because my daughter’s pug-who turned one year- started to get aggressive with my dog. This caused my dog to get aggressive back. Now the two dogs that were best friends hated each other and were going for the kill. After spaying them both- in a month- they no longer wanted to kill each other. It also stopped my dog from taking off looking for a female. I agree with waiting some years before spaying.
This is the first time I heard about not fixing the fogs right away. You must be the new breed .of ‘ veterinarian to talk about it. In my day all veterans were willing to fix the dogs right away. I wish the veterinarians were smarter in my day, I lost two beautiful Rottweiler through hip dysplasia and cancer. It was heartbreaking.
I had two dogs 🐶 a west highland and a Maltese I never did surgery on them they were the best they died of old age my first dog died very young from the anesthesia I was ❤️ heart broken won’t do it thank you for discussing this topic
I’m so glad I found this today. I rescued 3 lab/pit puppies dropped on a highway on Thanksgiving day. They are about 6 mos old-2 boys 1 girl. I don’t think I’ll have an option of not doing something with 2 boys in the house but I can check to see if I can find a vet for an alternative spay possibly. I also just started fresh freezing. I will tune in for more info. Thanks for your program!
We waited to neuter our Toy Poodle. He was 2 years when we did it. I always felt uncomfortable about doing it for other reasons, as well as so much conflicting information. I wish I had not. He was such a different dog while he was intact. It makes me sad just how much his personality, energy levels, and health have changed. I know to trust myself and the evidence now.
Thank you both! We recently adopted a rescue pup. He was desexed at 9 weeks! We are feeding raw and wont use any chemical drugs on him. We hope he will be ok. He constantly bites us. Currently 14 weeks old.
I was going to get my dog spayed when she was older because she is a large breed. Around four years old I went to talk to the vet about it and she said Magnolia would need three different shots just to stay in their back room after the surgery (just for about 6 hours or so) and then gave me the fee on everything. Now, I’d pay the fee but that just felt SO wrong. She is five and I won’t get her spayed now. She has always had this weird allergy with her paws and it’s my belief it’s from past vaccinations, but I need to do more research on that first.
Well, that is the other problem that is not addressed by electing alternative approaches to spay or neuter; these vets would likely insist on vaccinations pre surgery as they are housed with other dogs that are vaccinated. The narrative with passing disease is unvaccinated pass disease onto vaccinated; so we must all become weak in their minds so that the strong cannot expose the opposite argument.
I had a GSD pup with a retained testicle and took him to be neutered at my vet's insistence, the clinic gave him a rabies shot at the same time that I had unknowingly authorized when checking him in. It took him a lot longer to heal from that than any dog we've had and he started with grand mal seizures within 5 weeks of this procedure, because of how he'd come out of the seizure (acting like he had rabies, out of his mind, violent and attacking everything) the er vet told us the only option was to put him down. We had so many misteps with that puppy in trying to do the right thing by him, we took him to a trainer who came highly recommended but put him in a submission hold within 5 mins of being there, to the shots, to his food..he would have been 9 this year. In looking back he was probably having small focal seizures all along but we didn't realize it but in hindsight. He should have never had shots like he was given or been neutered early and definitely not with the added rabies shot. I loved that dog with everything and my heart was broken. Certainly a massive learning experience that changed much of how I view how vets work and what is right for my dogs. Neither of my currents pups have had anything other than their puppy shots and with my boy I was able to do all of them after the initial one and i spread them out leaving the rabies shots to be spaced out in between the others, he is a big boy and he wasn't neutered until he was 2 1/2 and I wish I hadn't done it, he was not an issue but he'd go a little wonky when my girl was in heat but never an issue. My female gsd was with her breeder until she was 4 mos, she was the runt but has long since made up for it, so I wasn't able to dictate the shots but she has only had a rabies booster at 3 years old. She was spayed at almost 5, again I wish I hadn't done it since her autoimmune issues did get worse. I am truly looking forward to the new breed of vets who actually learn about nutrition and who learn about the deteriment of early sterilization and over vaccination. It all ties into the health of our animals and their longevity. Until then we take them for annual checkups at our vet just like we do with no shots at all 😊
My female Heeler was the sweetest most quiet dog until l had her spayed at 1 year old. She's high anxiety, barks a lot, and aggressive towards other dogs. Shes 9 now. My male Heeler is 13, still intact and he's healthy and well behaved. I have always said spaying my female caused the behavior issues
Perhaps too late, but there's a couple possible treatments that many vets don't consider but are likely possible: - HRT / restore the estrogen. There's information on this on parsemus foundation page on hormone sparing sterilization. - Reduce serotonin -- this is what fixed the anxiety in spayed female rodents (excessive serotonin causes anxiety -- "serotonin syndrome" -- removing hormones increases serotonin [which is insidious as it appears as the dog is happier at first]) - There's a condition called something along the lines of permanent pseduo pregnancy caused by timing of surgery. It's treatable and there's been a few studies on this, but doesn't appear to be well known about. I really hope vets start updating their practices. There's this concept called informed consent in medical care, and it requires people to know the risks of the medical care they get -- but as owners aren't given the risks, they cannot provide informed consent. I'm really curious if there's medical liability here that your vet likely didn't tell you this known risks that have likely caused your dog issues.
I neutered a male at 7 years old ... before I knew spaying and neutering is unhealthy for dogs.. my dog was bombproof around children.. healthy as a horse... had the most stunning fur coat.. you could take raw steak out of his mouth.. not an aggressive bone in his body.. 1 month after neutering him.. all his hair fell out.. he became allergic to everything.. anxiety riddled and stressed looking and to top it all off ... because extremely food aggressive where we had to feed him separately . He wound up getting bone cancer like 3 years after he was neutered 😢😢
@@hay_Z2021when I fixed my male it fixed all the behavior issues. He stopped humping everything 10 times a day, stopped peeing on top of other dogs faces and backs, stopped marking on my pillows which btw happened everyday previously for the past 2 months anytime my back was turned, he stopped shoving his nose into and licking other dogs privates, which made them snarl at him or run away bcz they were uncomfortable. And he also stopped forcefully clutching onto other dogs trying to mount them against their will, as they were snarling and biting at him to get off and he just ignored it. On top of that my male focuses on me more now, when previously he'd ignore every single command to follow female dogs around humoing or peeing on them. He does NONE of that anymore, and hasn't since the day he was neutered. He's much more trainable now, and listens well- since his biology isn't screaming at him to Fck a female dog anytime he sees one. So what do u mean. I can't fathom it would make their behavior worse, unless we r talking about aggression. Not sexual behaviors
I have a 4yo male teacup aussie He is intact and has had very few vaccines and only one vet visit since I have owned him for 4 years. Hes a bit of a handful but I think thats in his genes.🙂
OMG, I am so glad I found you, extraordinary ladies, my Morkie is 5lbs and she just finished her 2nd heat, I have decided not the get her Spayed at this time.
Thank you for explaining this subject I was ready to spay my 6mos.old Havanese puppy. I am 100% convinced now not to proceed. She has 2 brothers both neutered one brother is 17yrs and other is 9yrs.
Thank you! I am having a very hard time finding a vet who will just do a vasectomy and a tubal ligation for my female golden retriever! They all want to remove ALL their natural hormones. This is a no-brainer to me because I had cancer the first time and had a partial hysterectomy at 23, (felt FABULOUS after) and had cancer again at 35 and had my ovaries removed - I can hardly function. My adrenal glands shut down, and now I have to take some estrogen, testosterone shots, DHEA, progesterone, thyroid, and extra supplement which are all helping. Why would I want to do that to my dogs?!!!! Do any of you know of any vets in Washington state or Idaho who with just do a vasectomy for my male pup, and a partial hysterectomy for my female? Thank you so much for you help.

Can I ask what breed your fur baby was? I'm so sorry for your loss
You can also find people that micro dose vaccines, also look for ones without mercury.
HOW beautiful you share this ,
when I think about it, many vets do not care about our animals. I stopped vaccinating my cats 3 years ago, if I only knew b4. MY cats , Leo and Felix are OK. I got spooky2 rifle machine, and I have been using it on them via nails, frequencies.
My family is also OK. Just Sharing ❤
Too many rabies vaccinations killed my cat from pancreatitis. Thank you so much for this vital hormone info!!!
Welcome to the world of medicine...
Thank you 🙏!
@@samm4265
Not spaying and neutering their pets does not create people's abandoning behavior. Bad character falls on its own. What the responsible used to do was to simply separate male dogs from female dogs when the female dogs were in heat, and the same with cats.
I have been saying this for years and thus refused to neuter my dog ..
It baffles my mind to see advocates bash tail docking or ear cropping
and in the next breath recommend a neuter. I just walked out of their clinic
and never returned.
Sad
Thanks for having the guts to share this
Ask about hormone replacement for him.
We had 2 golden retrievers with cancer! We’re on our 3 and it was actually our breeder that told us only do puppy shots and NO neuter!
Thanks, more confirmation for a golden; my first and I intend to keep her "clean".
what scares me is that my non neutered dog gets attacked because he have testicles. neutered dogs will get very violent around a neutered dog
Yes, please have more talks about raw food, shots, etc. This was really informative!
Same, my 8 month old Maltese is the same and has no interest in mounting either. He is all around puppy and his potty trained
The only reason I'm worried about not spaying my new pup, is because it does prevent cancers from developing in the future. My last furbaby passed away from cancer at age 14, she was never spayed or anything. 🙁
@@somewhat9626 14 years for any dog is a long life.
We are leaving our two year old intact as our last dog developed adrenal disease. Keeping the hormones this time. Smart lady.

My Boxer went in for a spay at 7 months; she died on the table shortly after they put her out. I have very little confidence in today's vets.
So sorry you lost your pet.
She is healthy and on 100% raw food.
omg i have boxers always. decided to wait. she hasnt gone in heat yet.
@@DM-vp3kr i had a boxer never spayed or bred - 10.5 no problems
so sorry. that is horrifying. did that vet suggest blood work/see some boxers have issues with anesthesia thought they could test that? vets today not all but many are highly incompetent.i experienced incompetence w my horses.
I am a retired senior vet nurse in OZ and now have my own boarding facility.
I try to educate guardians on some of this especially over vaxing.
Im so disgusted with vets pushing so many things that are detrimental to pets health. Great to listen to you both x
❤❤❤
Does your boarding facility take dogs that have not been spayed or neutered? Just asking because it’s very hard to find one that does
@@Indypendy yes
I agree. I only had the initial puppy vaccines for my girl because it was a requirement of the rescue I adopted her from, as was spaying. I've also lost a puppy to parvo at the age of nine months several years ago. 😪
Any chance you're in Melbourne?
I've been saying this for years and have fone multiple vids on it and the backlash I get from some people is mind blowing. Thank you for pushing this matter as we all want healthy happy dogs.
Jason, you are the first person that really pushed me to do the research, and I am glad you did.
Unfortunately you’ll have to give up the boarding. It’s not that bad. So many places allow you to bring your fur babies now.
@@Dani._ellaSorry to say but most hotels will not allow pets..... Motel 6 is about the only one I've ever been able to find & maybe some off motel..... Holiday Inn won't allow pets.... So I refuse to ever stay at any hotel if they don't allow dogs......
@@alicegorsen1968Many Hilton’s do. And a lot of air bnb’s, which I prefer to stay in anyway, take animals. They end up being cheaper than hotels and all the amenities you need. 🤗
Don’t do it
You can understand why they can't have a room full of dogs mixing together that are not neutered or spayed.
That’s reassuring and I’ve been worried about that since I have a contract too
A University of Georgia study, based on the medical records of more than 70,000 animal patients, found that the life expectancy of neutered male dogs was 13.8% longer and that of spayed female dogs was 26.3% longer.
When I was growing up in the 1960s and 70s, hardly anyone got their dogs or cats fixed. The intact animals didn't live long. By the 1980s my parents started spaying and neutering their dogs and cats young. They lived much longer than our earlier animals, were healthier overall, and didn't become overweight.
a study paid for by whom? That is the revealing part. A "study" can be made to yield any result that is desired.
@@kimfleury
Your post claims the opposite of my observation through those years.
Spayed dogs do live longer but not 26.3% more like 12%
They may live a little longer, but not if they get bone cancer because they were spayed.
🙏🏽💔😢🐕😩 🙏🏽
Thanks!
Wow wow WOW, this is incredible. You are VERY much appreciated. Thank you so so much!! Means more than you know 🥹
I totally agree with this. Having your hormones are very important.
When a dog is fixed it doesn't remove all their growth hormones, only their sexual hormones. This woman is spreading misinformation.
I’m so sorry for your loss 😢
But what if your dog had a tumor on her breast?
@@Moses81813
If a tumor removal is needed at that point I will just have to do anything to save her and I will accept surgery …
Spaying or neutering your dog will alter the growth and development hormones , which messes with the health balance and that’s when issues start..
My husband got me a great dane mix puppy, for my 20th birthday, almost 30 years ago, and she was our "precious baby girl," for just over 12 yrs. We chose NOT to get her "fixed," because we were afraid of changing her personality. Some of our friends thought we were crazy...I am glad to see that science is catching up with the way we just simply felt! It's nice to know we were right. 🥴
No u were just lucky she never got pyometra like mine

Not being fixed. It could’ve been genetic or from vaccines or diet.
She lived a very long life for her breed. I’m sure because she was intact. Usually this breed lives 9-10 year’s maximum
I am getting my Dane pup in the next few weeks! any advise?
(Jumping up on people, begging at the dinner table, pulling on leash etc..)
Have fun and enjoy as much time as you can with your new puppy! They become such an important part of the family and the time goes by WAY too fast! Enjoy the precious times with your precious pup! ✨️ ❤️🙏

Against my gut feeling about neutering my dog I had just decided to go for it, made the appointment with the vet earlier today for tomorrow.. and then just watched this video and simultaneously texted my vet to cancel tomorrows op. I feel relieved. Thank you !❤
Thank U both for talking about this - I instinctively wanted to keep our beautiful staffy-girl dog 'natural' - no ops or jabs (homeopathy & nosodes instead) & did my best to raw feed. Please continue to educate as many as possible - including wonderful sanctuaries such as Lee Asher, The Asher House. I've thought about contacting him about the injections, but so many followers i don't know how to get a message actually to him, & with enough credibility to get him to look more into it.. thank You 🙏💗✨️

I’ve fed my lab raw for 15 months, since he was 8 weeks old. That being said, I’d still love for you two to put out a talk on raw food and raw feeding. I’d enjoy listening and I’m sure it could be a great resource for many out there.
Also, I have never had any intentions to neuter him either!
I have been feeding my Golden Retriever a raw food diet since we brought her home at 7 weeks old. She will be 2 years in October and is absolutely thriving. She will continue on this diet, will not be spayed an will not be subjected to the over vaccination that they are pushing for our pets.
What raw food do you use?
I got my 17 pound dog partially spayed- which removed uterus only. What's done is done- at least she has the ovaries.
I keep my dogs away in heat and let them have their hormones. All my animals have been intact and never gotten pregnant.

I wish I had waited to spay my baby maltipoo 😡 the vet never shared this info with me. And I didn’t have the education to know better back then. I also don’t understand why vets in the USA remove everything; this is not how it’s done in other parts of the world. Vets here just seem to do more harm than good. Thank goodness for holistic vets! 🙏😊
This is awesome confirmation of my decision to keep my boy in tact!!
Rachel, thank you very much for all the great info you broadcast on your channel. All your guests are amazing people and professionals. We need more veterinarians and human doctors like them
Yes, please talk about annual shots, etc. All of it is VERY helpful to concsious dog lovers.
I am so grateful for the content you are putting out for us.....Bless you
I hope it's okay to ask. Are you saying your pup is experiencing medical issues after neutering?

Your vet is unheard of here in new york and in amerikkka im sure one in a trillion

My girl was spayed way too early by her rescue (12 weeks) she has a recessed vulva and is prone to frequent UTI’s. It’s really sad that this was done to her and that she has to suffer the consequences of having been spayed way too young for the rest of her life…
This is why I don’t adopt from shelters. My healthiest and best behaved dogs were unaltered, bought from a breeder.
My dog had a recessed vulva and was spayed at 1 year. Early spay doesn't really cause this. My dog was born like with this
@@Jfresh55 a vet and a specialist explained to me that it most certainly can cause it and increases the risk of this happening to a dog that is spayed too early.
Blessings!

Really fabulous video!! I have an 18-month-old male intact Bernedoodle and am reading up on the research on the benefits of keeping male dogs intact. Thank you so much for this informative conversation.
If you adopt any pet from a shelter, they immediately neutered and /or spayed; Manatory in Az
I've had 4 pets over the years who have all been neutered ( at various of ages.) and ALL lived to the average age of 15 yr with minimum health issues.
Thank you for doing this topic. I have a female golden doodle puppy and I don't know if I want to spay her. If you think about it, when women have hysterectomies we are prone to similar issues. I don't want to do something that will hinder her life quality. A lot to think about.
I will not spay or neuter another fur baby..
Yes please to all the things you asked about. We need more knowledge on these topics
I haven't taken my dog back to the vet since finding you both. I know there will be times its necessary, but I'd rather know how to do everything for my best friend myself.
I can’t thank you enough for this conversation ❤
Please do video on vaccines! You guys are amazing.
Thank you so much! I know its an older video but ive been on the fence about spaying my one year old. So much contradictive info out there!
I’d like to hear more on the annual recommended shots. I suspect my dog broke out with major allergies after he went through all his recommended puppy shots so would love to hear more
Thanks again for the great video! Please keep speaking up. Maybe if we all stand together we can make a difference in the health of our pets. 🙂
💯 Zero regrets keeping my girl intact.
But what if your dog had a tumor on her breast? What then?
What if your weren’t paranoid?
This is very eye-opening. I had no idea a male dog could get a vasectomy (I mean makes sense). I am glad there are other options to keep them intact!
My dog is intact. I keep her away from dogs and leash her during heat. She’s six and very healthy.
Good for u , however my girl has ended up with pyrometria and she went straight into surgery. She is 4,5 years never been spayed never had sex . Still ended up on surgery table..I'm broken u just can't win..😢
@@barborapazicka8887I am very sorry and I know that pain 😢❤❤
I have net neutered my one dog he is now 13 and doing very well and people are surprised how good he looks
Wow what an eye opener this video was for me! Thank you 🙏🏽
I just got my male neutered today he's 7 years old I'm so glad we waited I just hope he doesn't have issues over it or I'll feel guilty
@@lovelybones6875Hello. I am considering neutering at age 8. How did it turn out for your Male dog?
This is the first time I heard about not fixing the fogs right away. You must be the new breed .of ‘ veterinarian to talk about it. In my day all veterans were willing to fix the dogs right away. I wish the veterinarians were smarter in my day, I lost two beautiful Rottweiler through
hip dysplasia and cancer.
Thank you so much for this info. We have a 5 1/2 year old intact male pug. After hearing this information, I think we'll keep him that way.
LOVE having found you both and ALL the information 🎉💓
Honestly?! This is the most interesting type of videos I’ve ever heard! Thank you.
Wow almost no one is talking about this! Thank you!!! ❤
Hey, google about paw licking as I've read somewhere it can be from dietary needs
Until then we take them for annual checkups at our vet just like we do with no shots at all 😊
Absolutely come back on,
Please keep sharing the knowledge!!!!
Greatly appreciated!!!
You got it!❤️
My female Heeler was the sweetest most quiet dog until l had her spayed at 1 year old. She's high anxiety, barks a lot, and aggressive towards other dogs. Shes 9 now. My male Heeler is 13, still intact and he's healthy and well behaved. I have always said spaying my female caused the behavior issues
Perhaps too late, but there's a couple possible treatments that many vets don't consider but are likely possible:
- HRT / restore the estrogen. There's information on this on parsemus foundation page on hormone sparing sterilization.
- Reduce serotonin -- this is what fixed the anxiety in spayed female rodents (excessive serotonin causes anxiety -- "serotonin syndrome" -- removing hormones increases serotonin [which is insidious as it appears as the dog is happier at first])
- There's a condition called something along the lines of permanent pseduo pregnancy caused by timing of surgery.
It causes behavior issues for males too!
I have a 4yo male teacup aussie
He is intact and has had very few vaccines and only one vet visit since I have owned him for 4 years.
