Wanted to comment that we have three beagles, two that were having seizures and put on medication. The seizures were two times a week. We have since gone on this diet and vitamins. Zero seizures and no medication. It's almost unbelievable but I am so thankful that we found this video. They are healthy and the specialist is thrilled! We are so thankful that you shared your brother's story. I truly thought that there was nothing else I could do. Thank you for all that you do for these animals! ♥️

@@isaacstanley8453 It took 2 and a half months and they eat at the same time every day. We're still on the diet and seen by the specialist every 3 months. Still no seizures to report, no medication. I was skeptical myself but I went into this feeling hopeless and would do anything to help them. I have always been told that dogs should absolutely not have pork.🤔 My sweet sheltie James also has seizures, fortunately not very often, so I started making the dog food myself. I also add 1/2 teaspoon of cod liver oil, linseed and a multivitamin through the feed. I also give my Shelties partly raw and cooked meat/organ meat and fish and eggs. And also some cooked vegetables, pumpkin or sweet potato, some raw vegetables such as cucumber, zucchini or some carrots. And sometimes I give them a few pieces of apple or some blueberries. They love it. My James has almost no seizures

Thank you. I do a Turkey meatloaf or beef- with egg and broken pieced shells, sardine, sweet potato, steamed spinach, celery and carrot, drop of salmon oil over bone broth. So far so good.
DMG has helped greatly as an Anti convulsant (Proven) as has Aloe Vera Extract. Both are cheap and actually work.
And Chlorella has been a great Detox supplement and acts as a superfood potent antioxident. Again super cheap.

We have a Jura hound called Emily and she came to us from Cyprus.
She has really and epilepsy, has about 10 grand mal seizures over the course of a few days every month and the worst part is the post ictal phase, the constant howling, bumping into things, pacing and unable to shut her brain off.
We've admitted her and even when the vets put her under to break the cycle of seizures they start again. So we've hit a brick wall.
She's on all the usual pharmaceutical medications and we did manage to stop the seizures for nearly 5 whole months when we added Scullcap and Valarian tablets to her medication regimen but then the seizures starred again.
Anyways we've changed her diet, raw meat with sweet potatoes and carrots (lots of taurine) with MCT oil.
We've just past the one month mark, she should have had her seizures by now for this month and so far nothing.......fingers crossed this works for her ♥️♥️👌

Thank you for making this video. I had a dog for 16 years when I was a kid,
(Suzy, half golden retriever n German Shepard but looked more Golden). Suzy had had them too, my mom could get her medicine occasionally (we didn’t even have medical insurance our selves, low income after my dad passed). The Dr was very expensive in the hundreds each visit so we couldn’t take her all the time and there were times when she was ok. She died of natural old age. She was the best dog we ever had. Its been many years and I still haven’t picked a new dog for my kids.

Left a previous comment on here about our Jura hound and her severe epilepsy. Anyway we have been on this diet for a month now, and no seizures so far. And Emily has severe refractory epilepsy, which nothing so far has worked. Even sedating her at the vets doesn't stop the seizures. They just come back 10 times worse. Interesting. My dog developed epilepsy suddenly when she was 3.5 years old, she started having them once a month. We opted not to put her on medication as they were not that frequent and not multiple in nature. We did get diazepam which I only used once because it was the only time she ended up having another seizure almost immediately after the other.
Curiously she’s also a picky eater and we always ended up swapping her food to keep her interested in it. After about 6 months of her having seizures we swapped her onto a salmon and potato feed. She loved this and we didn’t need to keep swapping every month to keep her interested. Her seizures became rarer and we now only saw her having them every 3 months or so.
After a while of her having the 3 monthly seizure I realized one happens about a week after I had swapped from salmon and potato to salmon and brown rice since they were out of it. I thought back and could recall similar events for the other seizures, but perhaps it was a coincidence and maybe I was mistaken, but the next time it happened it took about a week and she had another seizure. From that day on she’s been on a bunch of different feeds as I’ve moved country but all of them have been salmon and potato based and she has pretty much stopped having seizures altogether. It’s also kind of telling that it’s the only feed she’s never gotten bored of.
I’m not sure why it works, whether it’s the high taurine content or the omega 3 of the salmon or if it’s the potassium of the potatoes, I’ve no clue. All I know is that it’s been years since her last seizure. She is turning 12 years old this year, and aside from some arthritis which we are managing, she’s otherwise healthy and happy.
It’s amazing what diet can do for their health (and ours too really). And even though animals can’t talk, they sure can let us know they’re not happy with something if we listen well enough.

Unfortunately they are cluster seizures when they do happen. Over an hour of seizure, break, seizure, break all while keeping her from running into everything. Breaks my heart during the bad ones I'm praying that God just take her to stop her suffering. Now she is getting deathly ill every few weeks...throwing up no energy won't eat or drink...then the next day she's fine. Constant cycle of this or that I just want her to be a happy dog.

You are fantastic Dr Jones!... My dog has very mild seizures.. You know; he does the weird licking his nose thing, and he has fade-outs ; but not very much... The other two dogs who are his relatives, also have epilepsy, with Tedi having the worse symptoms... grand mal seizures... so, is it the carbs that help trigger the episodes? And does that mean that he can't have any bisquits at all? It's hard to find healthy substitutes for the cookies....Is this a constant diet or is there room for deviations? I just don't think my little scamperlicious will eat the same thing evry day; he won't even eat gizzards; his favorite food; two days in a row...

My Papillon has had what looks like a seizure, since she was about 6 months old, she's currently 8 yrs old. In doing my research, Caramel, current weight is 13lbs, seems to be having Psychomotor Seizures. She can be resting or sleeping, will all the sudden jump up, run to an inanimate object, act like she's trying to climb the objection, run into something, then run back and forth, all while her head is down, neck stiffened. This will last 20 to 45 seconds. She will also "fly bite" while sitting on someone's lap, either awake or asleep, and in the last two months, has started to lose her bladder while sleeping. She also scratches her face on anything she can during the day, especially after an episode. As she's aged, they've become more frequent, and the loss of bladder is happening more and more. Will this diet work for her?

My poor little 3 year old Pom has a lumbar issue and a bad hip that we believe is causing her seizures. They are so extreme and suddenly became frequent and violent after she fell off the couch. Her balance and awareness has never been good and we wondered why? We tried some pet CBD oil once a day and she threw it up. It was not helping the seizures at the time, so the vet recommended phenobarbital. We have had her on it for over a month now. It helped immediately at a very low dose, but now is not helping. She has terrible stomach upsets and spits up a lot; today she is throwing up. Is there a safe way to transition her off of the meds and onto your version of CBD oil and this diet? She appears dizzy and very sick, disoriented. My vet says there is nothing we can do about spinal condition, only pain management and seizure management. Sad, sad, sad. Are you sure that wasn't butter like real butter? Because margarine is one of the worst things a person or a dog can eat. It's actually a dangerous compound. It's more like a chemical. I'm not trying to be a smart aleck I'm just wondering if you mean butter. Margarine is actually almost plastic. I know the fat in real butter is really good for people as long as the butter is not made from GMO milk that is produced from cattle eating GMO feeds. Anyway, I was just curious because I know my grandmother always called butter margarine for some reason and then my mom always called margarine butter so I know some people call it different things.

We gave her daily fluid treatments that she did good with for almost a year but her last two days of life was so painful she was constantly yelping. The meds didn't help her. That was so traumatic on me that I could literally hear her yelping for a long time after she passed and affected me so bad that I wouldn't get another dog then until two years later (hadn't even gone one day without a dog until then) when I got the dog that started having seizures at around 14 years old. So noticing maybe stress and excitement might contribute, when he barks from stress/excitement I rub him telling him it’s ok. Also, I couldn’t find his Rachel Ray’s beef dry dogfood so I chose a different brand. Either the dogfood I was buying was contributing and the stress? Is either or both possible?
