The objective of AutoJeff Reviews is to give you as much information as possible about these incredible vehicles. I try to put my sometimes quirky and funny spin on things with my pop culture references.
I refuse to do a boring car review haha. I hope you like the channel and decide to Subscribe.
Frontier or Tacoma and why?
Tacoma. The frontier looks like its from 2010
@@CoreyAbstractsAnd the Frontier will hold up longer than the overpriced plastic Tacoma.
Frontier. Because the Tacoma is made in MESSYCO
Frontier, hands down. In March I tried both. I went with the Pro4x loaded. First, I'll preface that a lot of reviews say the interior is out of date, behind the times. I have all the tech. The touch screen has so many useful buttons no other truck can compare. It has wireless charger, apple car play, heated steering wheel, 360 camera, rear sonar, front camera, zero gravity leather seats, Fender 440 watt sound system, sunroof, etc.... All the tech works flawlessly. The fit and finish is perfect. No gaps. High quality feel. Drives great. The Toyota I drove was the same price with less than half the amenities. Gaps everywhere. Like one commenter said it had a very plastic feel. Nothing like my 17 Tacoma. The yota was peppy off the line but I thought the Frontier was smoother, shifting was also better in the Nissan as well. Frontier feels more like a truck but rides nice was better. It all comes down to personal preference and I'm extremely happy with my choice.
Frontier
Toyota fan girl here. I had 2 3rd gen trd tacos. Loved them. I test drove the 4th gen. I test drove a pro4x...... i now own a 24 pro4x. That answers my thoughts....
Makes me want one 🥲. I need a work truck soon, my neighbor has one who alway tows, it has 50,000 miles on it rn. I think he changed the tire setup cause it looks lifted.
Nissan Frontier!
V6 all day everyday.
Recently just got myself a Pro-4x in boulder grey and I couldn’t be any happier. I test drove both the Frontier and Tacoma and let me tell you, the Tacoma felt very very CHEAP! Hard plastic literally everywhere and I hate the fact that it didn’t even come with a sliding back or a wireless charger. The Frontier had everything I wanted and a n/a V6. As for the price the Frontier was also cheaper.
Sounds like you test drove a bare bone sr5?..
I got the same Pro 4x, same color and everything. I love it. Leather looks awesome with that lava red trim. I think the larger screen on the Tacoma looks like an iPad superglued to the dash. Everything fits in its place in the Frontier, looks great.
@@noxnyc23 TRD Sport Base
@@Aaron_Fleming Congratulations and I agree, I would be too distracted with the big screen 😂
@@YurgBot567 problem is, a Pro4x loaded costs the same as a mid grade Tacoma. I'm sure the Tacoma is a decent truck but Toyota really screwed up on pricing. The other midsize trucks are all cheaper with more options.
I know a neighbor who got a 2022 frontier for $13,000 less than a new tacoma. He’s got about 50,000 miles on it and tows frequently. Has been a great truck for him.
Frontier - No turbo. Made in the USA!
isn’t cars made in japan more reliable?
@@scoot5642 It depends. There is a Toyota plant in San Antonio that is known for putting together trucks that last forever.
I own a 2023 Pro 4x got new in November 2023. I love it, no fancy gimmicks, enough tech to keep it modern. Still feels and drives like a truck, hydraulic power steering, proper shifter and a proven 3.8 V6.
I love the Frontier! I prefer it always over the Tacoma because it really does feel like a truck still with that heavy steering and overall better feel
The Nissan for me. Toyota dealers markups are crazy.
i got a loaded Pro4X in March OTD for the same price as a base SR5 4wd in my area. The Nissan was exactly what i wanted the 4th gen Tacoma to be. Simple, reliable, easy to work on, naturally aspirated, but most if not all flaws fixed (trans, seats/position, drum brakes, road noise, ride quality, useless wireless charger, drum brakes, taco lean, low roofline, etc).
Toyota fanboy here says Frontier for the win !
I have owned both Tacoma and frontier and I got to say the frontier is the way to go.
Frontier all the way, everyday and twice on Sunday. Made in America and no turbo i4, just a normal naturally aspirated V6.
The Nissan is the better value with a v6 and poven reliability .
Frontier all the way. My 2022 SV 4x4 is solid as a rock, great power, quiet, smooth 9 speed, rides exceptionally smooth, of course firm over speed bumps, love the truck.
“So it can pump it up a little more get the party going on the dance floor” 😂😂😂 you gotta love autojeffreviews!
Love it
I traded in my 2019 60k SR5 v6 calvary Blue for Pro X Frontier Boulder Grey because no more V6 in new Tacoma
Frontier all day long.
NISSAN! It rides better, the seats are way more comfortable, V6 no turbo, and it's a damn fine looking truck with everything you need.
Frontier any day. I want a v6, not a 4 cylinder truck!
First time in my life that I would go with a Nissan instead of a Toyota. We'll done Nissan. Dear Toyota: Did you learned the reason? Or you are going to keep pushing for something that the market doesn't want?
I love my 2023 pro-4X.
I have a Frontier and love it. But visually I have to give it to the Chevy Colorado!
Nissan hands down. Toyota dropped the ball with Mexican turbos.
I'm a diehard Toyota guy. Had an old 1 ton toyota pickuo, T100, FJ Cruiser, and 2 Tundras. I would choose the Frontier over them Tacoma. Toyota fucked up with turbocharging their engines. Now their reliability, which they are known for is gone.
"Hecho en Mexico" is ruining Toyota, too.
Rear air vents are under the front seats in the Frontier
Just picked up my 2024 Frontier pro4x and I’m very satisfied
V6 all the way, that new turbo junk will never last 300k without being repaired.
Look at that rat's nest under the hood of that Tacoma! You couldn't give me that truck
Im going with the Nissan based purely on the engine.....
We (my dad) had a 23 SV premium frontier for about a year. It was decent for the price. Test drove a 24 tacoma and it just offered more. More powerful, more comfortable and more options. We ended up selling the frontier and have a TRD sport premium on order. What really felt like a let down with frontier was the laggy infotainment, low ground clearance and overly stiff ride. Just to add 33 inch tires required a lift kit. Taco outbthe box can handle 33's non-issue. What we did like about the frontier was how large the bed eas though
Traded my 2019 Taco for a 2024 Pro 4X. Loving it!
You can tell this is a southern southern car dealership. Both are 4x2. Very rarely see the 4x2 up in the Northeast.
I believe Toyota shot themselves in the foot.
With how crazy prices are for the Taco, and the poor interior quality even for the basic TRD trims, those in need of Midsize trucks are finding their way to purchase Frontiers.
Nissan lots in my area seem to be running out of the premium P4X trims lately. It also helps that Nissan marked their vehicles down 10-15%
Tacoma transmission overheating and total transmission failures..
Where in the hell do u have TRD sport/pro for $40k ? Lmao wild
Just got a pro 44 love it ,like most comments v6 all the way also not to mention the tablet looking thing on the dash of the Toyota 😂the pro 44 it’s built in also mine does have a moon roof and the fender sound system 😂😂
I bought a 23 frontier over the 23 Tacoma because of the horrible seating position of the Tacoma. Supposedly they have improved it some on the new ones..
The transmission hump on the drivers side right leg is troublesome to me. other than that it is awesome.
Which truck?
I went with the Frontier SL. No interest in a four cylinder turbo in this size truck.
Easy choice. The Frontier interior is basically simple, rugged and reliable. Just like the engine, transmission, suspension and everything else. It's perfect!! It actually reminds me a lot of the way Toyota builds the Hilux, easily Toyotas best truck. The Tacoma has too much technology, too much soft leather. Basically, the Tacoma was designed for a granny. The Frontier is designed for a man. I will take the Frontier first time, every time. I hope Nissan doesn't destroy a good thing next year with their redesign.
The cartoonish alpha-bro interior of the new Tacoma is at best silly, at worst embarrassing. Toyota trucks have become cartoon caricatures of themselves.
The reserved styling of the Frontier interior says “truck” without the steroid injected nonsense of the Tacoma’s Tonka interior.
It may involves availability for me. I really wanted a Tacoma Xtracab, but they are virtually non existent. I have found about a half dozen nation wide in 4WD. (I don’t want a PreRunner)
The Kingcab is a little easier to come by.
I’m also really disappointed that Toyota dropped the nicer trims on the extended cab. They no longer offer the Off Road or Sport on the smaller cab.
I use my bed daily, and I cannot have one shorter than 6 feet for the things that I need to haul. If I get a four door truck with a 6 foot bed then it no longer fits in my garage. I have driven 4:40 an extra cab for 39 years and it is the perfect configuration for me. Toyota is deciding that’s not the case. 😡
Nissan V6
What is the deal with the overstyling of the interior of the Toyota Tacoma is doing too much The dash and the door panels and what's up with the rear space there's no legroom I thought the frontier was going to have less space
The new Tacomas are underbuilt. Frontier FTW.
Frontier for me way more for the money and the biggest thing is the motor
Frontier… sorry, Jeff.
Too bad the 8 speed transmissions are already failing in the 2024 tacomas.
If you check prices there are substantial discounts on the Frontier at Anderson. Toyota much more expensive. Price difference for me makes it an easy choice. Frontier. And I worry about Toyota quality lately. Tundra issues. And now a stop sale about to be announced on the Grand Highlander for a safety issue.
The video is on the interiors and well... the Tacoma interior is way better than the frontiers! but I like tech so im biased.
Frontier ! Toyota really messed up the pricing on the new trucks.
Are these both still part-time 4wd?
tacoma has full time option
On the review they are 4x2, they have the part time option, but as far as full time 4wd only Tacoma on Limited trim for 2025 with the hybrid I-max option.
Did Tacoma print plastic parts at home, way too much plastic 🤣
The Tacoma looks better, but it's a total flop. A dicky little turbo 4cyl, a defective transmission, and nearly 10K more expensive than the competition. I was so hyped about getting this truck when it was revealed last year, but have changed my mind. It's a total disappointment.
That Toyota interior is fking ass 😂 idk what they were thinking
Apparently Toyota thinks that 100% of its customer base are insecure males that require hyper-masculine alpha-bro styling to bolster their manhood.
That Tacoma interior is embarrassing. Agree - what the hell were they thinking?
310 n/a that all I need to know , frontier drives better
I'm a toyota guy my entire life, but the. Xterra is a winner a big time, that new gen tacoma suck ass
Frontier hands down. F Tacoma
I'm surprised they have a Tacoma they are either all broke down or being recalled.💩🥳😢
And by the way who gives a rats about the rear seats and the useless sliding rear window but my pro 44 has a 120 ac plug in the back😂😂😂
Fuck the turbo and all its problems. NA is the way
Jeff, you could not carry a tune in a bucket.
Tacoma. No ugly orange accents, plenty of storage, telescoping steering wheel, auto dimming rearview mirror. Glad you didn't finish the lyrics at 13:48 🤣 Frontier looks dated & looks like it's trying to come up to Toyota's features and design.... not there yet!
Transmissions are junk in the Tacoma. They even screwed up the manual.
That tacoma interior is horrendous
Interior? Almost irrelevant. Long term reliability is by far the most important quality. We now live in the Bizarro world where Nissan now definitely wins the reliability race and therefore my money. As a long term toyota fan I never thought I'd choose a Nissan over a Toyota but here we are. TOYOTA: GO BACK TO SIMPLE RELIABLE AND INEXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! Even roll down windows and no radio is fine, but definitely naturally aspirated.
Let's give this Tacoma the opportunity at least to go 'long term' before we speculate if it'll go long term lol
Tacoma way too overpriced
Toyota but why would anyone want a 2wd TRD, so dumb that truck even exists.
Same reason why a dummy would want a 4 bander in a midsize truck. 🤭
@@thomasjohn6041 yeah turbos are a joke.
The 3rd Gen Taco is still the better truck compared to the frontier. The 4th gen is rough.
Tacoma..not even close
Toyota for me
Toyota always will beat a Nissan in overall quality.
Only in your eyes... 😅
Until now that is.
