- Before leaving Ullapool and making our way to Stornoway, we wanted to have another wee wander around town and check out some of the shops there. Since we still had some time to jill, we decided to visit Beatrice from the Highland Wildlife Hospital Trust and give her our book ❤️. She invited us in and we stayed with her for a while just talking about life. She gave me some absolutely delicious jam and a wee book of some her own stories (seeing how I can make that accessible to you guys). Once we had said goodbye to her, we made our way to the ferry and headed towards Stornoawy ⚓️. We arrived there quite late so we only looked for a spot to camp and got to bed soon afterwards. The next morning we went for a lovely wee walk around our camping spot. A lady who follows us also found our van, knocked on the door and invited us for dinner that evening ❤️. They made us a delicious vegan curry and had a lovely evening with us 🥰

We’re Dean & Nala, and we’ve been best friends since December 2018. I was cycling around the world when I heard Nala meowing out for me somewhere in the Bosnian mountains. With no intentions of keeping Nala, I knew i had to save the wee kitten and take her to the vet - but I was well aware of the fact that it might be a bit of a challenge considering I only had a bike. However, despite my concerns, Nala quickly climbed out of the front bag on the bike handle and straight onto my shoulder. Since then, we’ve been travelling the world together. So feel free to tag along if you’re interested in following our journey and adventures around the globe ❤️

I love how Nala just makes herself at home where ever she goes. So many wonderful people offering hospitality to Dean and Nala. What a wonderful life!
So true Heather! I constantly marvel at the fact that as long as Dean is there, she is relaxed to mostly relaxed. Imagine any other cat in a stranger's house: they would naturally be on edge you know? But not Nala! Jumping on the table, playing the piano, and cleaning herself in the living room chair! Fantastic!
Nala has been in so many places, I think everywhere is home to her.
Nala is a true cosmopolitan! She reacts to the hospitality of people, that's why she's so chilled around most people. You seem to meet mostly nice people Dean, it's almost as if Nala has the right "sniffles" for good folks, she even plays the piano for them! 😸😻😁✌️

You just keep meeting and connecting with such wonderful people. I believe Beatrice is now an honorary aunt. And I love how Nala made herself right at home with your other new friends; right up the stairs, took the young lady’s spot on the sofa, gave an impromptu piano concert, what more could you have asked for?

Oooh the 🌈 rainbow!!! Love it - Scotland is sooo-ooo gorgeous. Nala was so good and 🐈🤗😺interested in everything on the ferry adventure!
One thing that I´m learning with Dean showing us Scotland is that it´s an old soul country - places are settled in terms of what they have, what tourists can see, and how locals welcome tourists and make a living in the highlands. I have to go to Scotland now, it´s a must!

OMGosh!! Nala and the piano!! Any other cat would have gotten spooked and ran off. She's loving these people, and they are VERY CAT FRIENDLY!! That was so nice! I love how you are so comfortable with your community. Nana is a wonderful ice breaker for meeting new friends.
Another fun day. It was nice to visit with Beatrice again. The ferry was a mini adventure in itself. The upstairs were like a hotel, great views, and it's really convenient to a have the van for napping while travelling over the water. Being invited to dinner and hanging out is a nice way to get to know well wishers.
I love figs, too! Beatrice is just a lovely lady. And Nala and Dean just make my day!

Excellent video Dean & Nala. That was so kind of you to give Beatrice your book. She is such a lovely lady and you have certainly made a friend. Once again you have met lovely people in Stornoway who were kind enough to invite you to supper. Laughed when Nala headed upstairs , maybe she thought it was a hotel. She just enjoys herself no matter where she is, she is just super cute.

Absolutely lovely video. I think it’s so funny to see Nala run ahead of you up a path, on a leash. Who would ever think to see a cat do that. And the way she so eagerly enters shops and peoples homes, with no worries. And meeting so many new people with such confidence. It’s just so unexpected and so very cute. As long as she has her Dad, Dean, she’s up for anything. Glad you saw Bernice again and had a lovely dinner with new friends. What lovely times!😻🥰 The two of you make everyday worries go away, just spending time with you, watching your videos while snuggling in my bed with my two sweet cats, Oliver and Abby.
I almost feel as though Nala realizes that she’s a leading character in an adventure series and that the two of you are filming it for the enjoyment of all of us and she knows to play her part well. She doesn’t let us down. She’s up and ready to play her part every day to make each day’s video interesting. She lets you do most of the planning and narration and she joins in adding flavor and content from a different perspective.
I had the joy of living in Ullapool for 4 years. The people there are truly special. Thank you for a trip down memory lane, the chance to 'meet' the lovely Beatrice and the folks from Stornaway. Brilliant!

@@donaldmatheson4440 Loved it! Great people, amazing scenery, days off tramping about the highlands. I would go back there easily. Only tricky bit is finding work, particularly year round. If you have your own mobile work, Ullapool is worth trying.
I love the episodes when families invite you and Nala into their homes! Those are my favorites.

Made me a little homesick for Washington State. Lots of ferries up there to wonderful islands, towns and great scenery. It's been 20 years. May have totally changed. I digress . . . what a beautiful country. Thank you and Nala for sharing it.

Not quite what it was 20 years ago but it is still Home. Scotland reminds me of this beautiful State so much. I live on a hill above Puget Sound - would be lost if I couldn't get the whiff of sea when the tide is out or hear the foghorns talking to the ships and all. Leaves changing color like crazy. Squirrels have gone into warp drive, storing food for Winter. Time for lunch down on the waterfront and to watch the Chetzemoka (WS ferry) go back and forth to Vashon Island. My favorite time of year. Only wish that wildfire smoke would go so I could go outside safely. And that we get a really good rain.
I live on Vancouver Island so I know what you’re talking about. The ferry to the mainland is a regular part of life.

Marvelous video as always - an escape route for us where we're transported to Scotland. When I went to work in Stornoway in 1963 it was on the Loch Seaforth from Mallaig. Anyone taking a car had it swung on board by crane, then lifted off at the other end, a lengthy business! A proper ferry to Skye started the following year.
