She even needed the child psychologist to warn her about attachment to Megan and how she would fail to see the difference between a real life and a toy. When it was made perfectly clear that Megan was to remain hidden from all until the big reveal, she just brought her to a bunch of kids and basically told the first adult she met 'Yeah, she's a robot'. She didn't even bother to start to search her property for the missing dog. Even a very lazy search would have been smart. For someone so talented with computers, she immediately gave up on accessing gps and video data, instead of giving it her all. She simply noticed that her AI assistant acted strangely, instead of unplugging it or - better yet - increasing the level of security in her home network. She didn't take Megan away from Cady, when her neighbour died in such a suspicious way ... after her dog had disappeared. She didn't destroy Megan, when the Police informed her that the bully's ear was found so far away from the rest of his corpse. Yes, having such an important conversation with Megan would have been very important ... but Gemma is such a clueless idiot that she simply would never make the right choice, until the very end of the movie, because the plot says she has to survive.

Its shown m3gan can read human emotions: like when Gemma tried to lie, she could tell she was nervous and she got mad. Usually manipulating or being a good liar would get you out of problems involving murderers but since m3gan knows EXACTLY how you feel makes it scarier
Actually I think she scans the face for small details such as the movement of the mouth, the eyes, the temperature of their body, and makes a deductive reasoning based on the situation as well.
Just imagine a robot, seeing you eat a hamburger, says "that's not healthy for you", you just say Mhm or smth like that, than the robot pulls out a gun and says " you're harming yourself, eliminating the threat"

Honestly, I think distracting M3GAN and turning her off was one of the smartest moves I've seen in a horror movie. Right up there with the boyfriend using the car's headlights in "Lights Out". If she'd taken M3GAN's battery or brain chip out before wrapping her up, it could have ended right there.

I really enjoyed this movie. It raised ethical questions about creating a robotic parent, as it makes the human parent obsolete. Additionally, it provides insight on the importance of not avoiding the grieving process, as doing that will only make it worse
The real question is. How do you DEFINE a human? If you stretch that definition enough, put on parameters, you could feasibly break that law. It's the thing I'm writing right now, where the line between 'human' and robot is similar to Ghost in the Shell. You have humans who basically forgo'd everything human. To become robots basically. So a human made the decision to hard program all of them so that at a certain point you are no longer classified as human. So that if something like M3gan comes along, (or rather a Megaman esk killer robot) you can have them ripping what are HUMANS apart without a thought. Cause this PERSON is no longer considered a human being even though that they ARE a human. I was just thinking of 'you know, the megaman Zero games don't really talk about what it would be like for a HUMAN to sit there and watch this robot shrek everything in its path, wouldn't that be terrifying?' and put that concept into a society like Cyberpunk and Ghost in the Shell.

I am such a big fan of "good intentions gone too far" which in this case is "protect a kid" taken to a deadly, ruthless degree. This is also similar to the dynamic of a kind ruler and a ruthless second in command who does all the dirty work and hides it just to keep the King happy and blissfully unaware.

I actually just got back from seeing this in the theaters, and I gotta say I liked it. Some scenes were cheesy or cringe, and the dog chase she does completely wipes the tension from the whole scene, but it’s still a pretty good movie. This is everything Child’s Play (2019) wishes it was.
No way the aunt gets to keep the kid. The robot she made has killed four people (one being a child), a dog, and attempted to kill two others. Even if she can prove it was unintentional, at minimum, she wouldn't be allowed to remain her niece's guardian and would be bankrupted by legal fees and wrongful death lawsuits. Probably, though, she'd get a few life sentences thrown her way.
This is what I would do : First of all, get on M3GAN’s good side when she’s first developed, so she can actually be on good terms with you and won’t see you as a threat. Second, never try to interfere with M3GAN and her possibly user (in this situation, Katie) relation, as she will then see you as a possible threat that needs to be disposed of.
I beat M3GAN by NOT beating M3GAN; instead, I make sure I carefully rephrase her mission parameters concerning Katie as well as her own functions. As her creator, I become sort of like a Captain Picard to a much darker Data as he learns about humanity. I also make sure she knows not to do absolutely everything for Katie, but to make sure she's properly challenged and developed into a functioning adult, while M3GAN prepares for the day when she is no longer needed by Katie. Generally speaking, however, I use her talents to peacefully remove threats to myself, Katie, and our neighborhood as a whole using untraceable hacking and private detective work to root out human traffickers, rapists, corrupt politicians and law enforcement, etc. The only ones who die are the ones the system lets get away. By the time Katie is all grown up, perhaps she will join our ongoing war against the darkness of this world.
Assuming it's too late to make a kill switch or a shut down word, I would convince the Robot that I was going to make updates so she could take better care of Cady. From there, factory reset

You asked "How would you try to defeat Megan?" well for starters, you must know her weakness. She's psychically stronger and more capable than a regular human. Being able to kill people easily. But her only weakness, is that she's over-protective of Katie. She could be taken down Psychologically. She's programmed to Protect Katie at every cost. Katie and Gemma could work together. Katie could lure Megan, Megan is so obsessed over protecting her that she would kill to get the job done. Maybe Katie could trick Megan into thinking she's hurting her. Katie would distract her, and than Gemma could turn Megan off somehow. Overall Awesome video!
I think the best way to deal with evil robots is a good old EMP. They are designed to shut down all forms of electronics in an area, so getting M3GAN to an area with one would be a good way to stop her, or at least slow her down.

While her deciding to take on the responsibility of Katie without having the time or energy to do so (and some might argue the desire, at least until the later parts of the movie) was one of Gemma's biggest mistakes, there were others that are in the running for the biggest. Mistakes such as throwing a hammer at the killer robot made of titanium with super-human reflexes; not installing better failsafes into M3gan; rushing the project when there were obvious flaws with M3gan (one of the best examples of this is during M3gan's diss of Gemma during the final fight, where it calls out Gemma for not understanding the learning model she wrote); repeatedly taking the robot out in public while it's supposed to be kept in the dark; deciding that parameters were for wimps and not implementing ones that will prevent murder; etc. Most of those are just impulsiveness (which taking on Katie falls into), but the truly egregious ones in my opinion are the ones caused by either her own pride or stupidity (such as weak anti-human-harming parameters or the decision to continue marketing the doll after the incident at the alternative school).
The people who run the alternative school and not too smart pairing off a 10 year old with a 15 year old. Big mistake. You pair him off with Biff Tannen (Back to the Future), When Brandon does to Biff what he did to Cady, Biff will immediately punch Brandon in the face and knock him to the ground!!! I think Brandon will think twice before trying to go toe-to-toe with Biff!!!! Lol!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
M3gan does not really have a permanent body. She could upload her conscience into anything. Allowing her to drive the car. That means she could upload to pilot jets and weapons. Thats why the home system acts up at the end of the movie. All she has to do is have the desire to do it. Since she decided to be her primary user.

What I would do is make sure that I didn't put in the hardware required to do most of what M3GAN does. Weaker servomotor components, no voice alteration tech, a limited WiFi router, and a physical off switch. Furthermore, when she's out, take out her internal battery. No power, no movement. When they've got her hanging from the cables, remove the central operation system, hook it up to a closed circuit limited capability computer and check it out there. And where were the firewalls and outside remote kill switches?
Course in the end, Gem would likely be arrested and sent to jail for the murder of the people that M3GAN killed, so the girl will likely end with her Grandparents anyway :/
See, the thing is, M3gan is being called "evil" by a lot of people. No, M3gan is not evil. M3gan was following her own programing. She was actually right Gemma could hardly understand what she was programing her with. It seems to me that M3gan pretty much just had access to the open internet and would constantly "learn" because of that. That's a problem. See, in real life there was a chatbot created. This bot was simply to communicate via text with whomever chose to interact with it. You know what happened in a very, very short amount of time? The chatbot that was supposed to learn through these conversations. They literally had to take the bot down because in less than a week, the bot was spewing hateful, racist comments and horrible things, and bad words. This is what happens when we decide to let a robot just continually use interaction and the internet teach a device. With this in mind, and given the fact that M3gan's pretty much only working command being to protect Cady physically and mentally. M3gan was not evil. Her programing was ignorant

Okay, I’ll say some mistakes you also pointed out, or forgot to point out. Firstly, I can agree with Gemma sending m3gan to go to the ocean, and drown in it. Sending an robot into water is just like putting an phone in the bath. Secondly, m3gan shouldn’t have made as many deaths as she did. Making so many deaths connected to where you live and who you live with, it would be very obvious to find out the killer. Especially if it’s a small family which it was, it was a family of 3. Lastly, Cady’s bully made a huge mistake bullying m3gan. Who would bully such a creepy and life sized doll?
Optimizers know that if they go to water they would be less likely to comply the objective of protect M3GAN at all costs, therefore would take the desition of no going to water and would kill Gemma afterwards so that she is unable to prevent her to comply it's task of protecting Gemma.

Actually Titanium is not that extra strong. The strength is comparable to steel. The point is it's lighter. That's probably how a boy can lift her. In that case, there are more thing you can do to deal with her as her mass isn't like Arnold.

Cady managed to lie to her towards the end tho, even as Megan was scanning her face. Maybe Gemma was too nervous to properly lie and Megan caught that

I actually just got back from seeing this in the theaters, and I gotta say I liked it. Some scenes were cheesy or cringe, and the dog chase she does completely wipes the tension from the whole scene, but it’s still a pretty good movie. This is everything Child’s Play (2019) wishes it was.

No way the aunt gets to keep the kid. The robot she made has killed four people (one being a child), a dog, and attempted to kill two others. Even if she can prove it was unintentional, at minimum, she wouldn't be allowed to remain her niece's guardian and would be bankrupted by legal fees and wrongful death lawsuits. Probably, though, she'd get a few life sentences thrown her way.
You wouldn't be able to. Gemma would be put in prison. She won't because it's movie. They're doing a sequel as well and she will be apart of it.

This is what I would do : First of all, get on M3GAN’s good side when she’s first developed, so she can actually be on good terms with you and won’t see you as a threat. Second, never try to interfere with M3GAN and her possibly user (in this situation, Katie) relation, as she will then see you as a possible threat that needs to be disposed of.

I beat M3GAN by NOT beating M3GAN; instead, I make sure I carefully rephrase her mission parameters concerning Katie as well as her own functions.
As her creator, I become sort of like a Captain Picard to a much darker Data as he learns about humanity.
I also make sure she knows not to do absolutely everything for Katie, but to make sure she's properly challenged and developed into a functioning adult, while M3GAN prepares for the day when she is no longer needed by Katie.
Generally speaking, however, I use her talents to peacefully remove threats to myself, Katie, and our neighborhood as a whole using untraceable hacking and private detective work to root out human traffickers, rapists, corrupt politicians and law enforcement, etc. The only ones who die are the ones the system lets get away.
By the time Katie is all grown up, perhaps she will join our ongoing war against the darkness of this world.

You asked "How would you try to defeat Megan?" well for starters, you must know her weakness. She's psychically stronger and more capable than a regular human. Being able to kill people easily. But her only weakness, is that she's over-protective of Katie. She could be taken down Psychologically. She's programmed to Protect Katie at every cost. Katie and Gemma could work together. Katie could lure Megan, Megan is so obsessed over protecting her that she would kill to get the job done. Maybe Katie could trick Megan into thinking she's hurting her. Katie would distract her, and than Gemma could turn Megan off somehow. Overall Awesome video!

I think the best way to deal with evil robots is a good old EMP. They are designed to shut down all forms of electronics in an area, so getting M3GAN to an area with one would be a good way to stop her, or at least slow her down.

While her deciding to take on the responsibility of Katie without having the time or energy to do so (and some might argue the desire, at least until the later parts of the movie) was one of Gemma's biggest mistakes, there were others that are in the running for the biggest. Mistakes such as throwing a hammer at the killer robot made of titanium with super-human reflexes; not installing better failsafes into M3gan; rushing the project when there were obvious flaws with M3gan (one of the best examples of this is during M3gan's diss of Gemma during the final fight, where it calls out Gemma for not understanding the learning model she wrote); repeatedly taking the robot out in public while it's supposed to be kept in the dark; deciding that parameters were for wimps and not implementing ones that will prevent murder; etc. Most of those are just impulsiveness (which taking on Katie falls into), but the truly egregious ones in my opinion are the ones caused by either her own pride or stupidity (such as weak anti-human-harming parameters or the decision to continue marketing the doll after the incident at the alternative school).

M3gan does not really have a permanent body. She could upload her conscience into anything. Allowing her to drive the car. That means she could upload to pilot jets and weapons. Thats why the home system acts up at the end of the movie. All she has to do is have the desire to do it. Since she decided to be her primary user.

What I would do is make sure that I didn't put in the hardware required to do most of what M3GAN does. Weaker servomotor components, no voice alteration tech, a limited WiFi router, and a physical off switch.
Furthermore, when she's out, take out her internal battery. No power, no movement. When they've got her hanging from the cables, remove the central operation system, hook it up to a closed circuit limited capability computer and check it out there.

Course in the end, Gem would likely be arrested and sent to jail for the murder of the people that M3GAN killed, so the girl will likely end with her Grandparents anyway :/

See, the thing is, M3gan is being called "evil" by a lot of people. No, M3gan is not evil. M3gan was following her own programing. She was actually right Gemma could hardly understand what she was programing her with. It seems to me that M3gan pretty much just had access to the open internet and would constantly "learn" because of that. That's a problem. See, in real life there was a chatbot created. This bot was simply to communicate via text with whomever chose to interact with it. You know what happened in a very, very short amount of time? The chatbot that was supposed to learn through these conversations. They literally had to take the bot down because in less than a week, the bot was spewing hateful, racist comments and horrible things, and bad words. This is what happens when we decide to let a robot just continually use interaction and the internet teach a device. With this in mind, and given the fact that M3gan's pretty much only working command being to protect Cady physically and mentally. M3gan was not evil. Her programing was ignorant

Sending an robot into water is just like putting an phone in the bath. Secondly, m3gan shouldn’t have made as many deaths as she did. Making so many deaths connected to where you live and who you live with, it would be very obvious to find out the killer. Especially if it’s a small family which it was, it was a family of 3.
