    Congrats. Finally found the data on your web site, you could add in a specific menu with steps (for us amateurs).
    You could also offer this as a service (someone sends you the card, you flash, check and return).
    Make a list (video and your site) for the cards where this is possible - presumably GE Force GPU cards.
    I would guess that there is an easy way to install the card (secondary) in a Win machine and preflash before doing the final install / upgrade in a iMac. Open your Win PC tower, add the card, boot the PC, ID the second card and flash.
    That would be ideal and eloquent.

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha thanks for the idea, but I think offering this a service is just too time consuming for me. Anway, yes, you could of course also use a PC do to the flashing.

    Great to see it up and running again. I did the SSD change myself but found that it boots but no screen. I think I damaged the connector like you did. It’s a black screen but glowing a little. Did you have the same symptoms? To help I can identify that there are 3 LED on at the base of the iMac which can be seen through the grill.
    The 4th LED is not on. My question is, how did you fix the screen so you can see the screen? I don’t think it’s a dead gpu because it worked fine before so I think it’s a connector issue. Thanks for the videos you guys share - very helpful :)

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well seems like it could very well be that you damaged the connector or cable. I once worked on a 21.5" iMac where I ripped the cable (I could easily buy a replacement cable and fix it). Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky on mine, there I had to get a whole motherboard replacement.

      I never thought I'd be so happy about a bootscreen in my life haha. About catalina, you have to create a bootable usb using Dosdude1's patcher and after install you need to manually patch it again without the "legacy video card support" option. I tried it out and it works for the most part really great, but there are some small bugs; I'll make a video about it.

    According to Macrumors's guide, they said "For all Nvidia MXM B cards and the WX7100 you need the MXM-B heat sink from the 27" mid 2011 model. This is the only sink with three heat pipes capable to get the generated heat by using 75W out of the system unter load."
    I have the 2010 27" model just like you do, and our heatsinks have two heat pipes. Do you experience any overheating like they mention here?

    Hi mate thanks very much for your videos. You got a new subscriber!
    I am about to get the dual upgrade (i7 2600S + GTX 770M) for my Mid 2011 21.5 iMac.
    I am just wondering why you needed to take out the GTX that you had in there and then put it back in?
    I am willing to follow the exact same process of flashing the GTX once I put it in and since I still have to install the components in the first place I'd just like to make sure that I don't unnecessarily do the job twice! :D
    I am using a dual SSD config using the two available SATA3 ports, so I am already running a dual-boot with Windows on separate drives.
    Thanks very much in advance!

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I put the original AMD GPU back in to install Mac OS and Windows because there I had a bootscreen. Then, when it all was up and running I put the GTX 765M in and flashed it. There is no other easy way, you have to do it this way. I only did it twice (actually three times) because I had to switch the motherboard in the iMac and the OS was screwed up once.

    • @youtubepremium2413
      @youtubepremium2413 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MacintoshMen hi mate thanks for your answer, I think I got it now, you took the 770M out to install your new motherboard. I won't have to take it out and out in my case, as I've got the default one one now, and I already have Windows on another internal SSD. Basically, correct me if I am wrong, I will just have to put the 770M on and then use the "startup disk" feature from OSX Settings to boot it into Windows, and then nvflash-it! Thanks again in advance, I appreciate your help!

I heard that I have to make some modifications to my heatsink for the new card to fit properly? Do you have any idea what & how I'm meant to do that? • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't need any modifications; the thing you probably meant was the little bottom plate. Just take it off of the original GPU and put it on to the 765M. Then everything should just bolt into place!

    Gruss Gott, MacintoshMen! Ive been watching your channel closely and you're the right guy to ask I think! First of all, great work you're doing here. Id like to ask you few questions just to be sure, if I may of course.
    As Ive bought my first iMac 2 days ago, (iMac 27 2011 High Sierra, 2,7 i5, 8GB Ram, 1TB HDD, HD6770 512Mb).
    And well, in 2020 this is not the spec one should run so, I'm planning to put inside:
    Intel Core i7 2600
    32Gb of 1333MHz RAM
    Additional 500Gb SSD
    And most important thing, GTX 780M GPU! (DELL/ALIENWARE????)
    Ive downloaded necessary files that you've provided, but the question is, just to summarise things as I don't want to yuck it up.

      If you don't want to upgrade from 10.13 then it's not necessary to flash the vbios, but if something goes wrong with your Mac OS install (e.g. not booting or something) it's very frustrating to troubleshoot since you can't get into internet recovery, boot from usb, etc (Happened to me too before I flashed!). You'd have to put the original GPU back in for that. That's why I recommend flashing anyway.

    Way cool, thx for doing this. And I agree, that macrumors thread is a bit of a train wreck. Can your iMac still support an external display with thru the mini display port? I’m guessing no, but that’s not a big deal for me. Also it does seem like your mid 2010 27” iMac does support 32gb of ram. I have the same machine (iMac 11.3 EMC No.: 2390) with 24gb 1333 MHz DDR3 in it right now with the i7. In comments on another video you were saying it was limited to the officially listed max of 16gb, I think this may be true for the 27” i3 but not for the 27” i5 or i7. Now you have to upgrade the wireless to get handoff working. I can’t figure out the antennas. Thx again!
