    Humble and helpless
    Learning to pray
    Praying for visions
    to Show me the way
Show me the way to forgive you
Allow me to let it go
    Allow me to be forgiven
Show me the way to let go
Show me the way to forgive you
Allow me to let it go
    Allow me to be forgiven
Show me the way to let go
    Illuminate me,
    Illuminate me,
    Illuminate me,
I'm just praying for you to show me

Well , that's a good thing being as "Perfect" is in the band's name. Makes sense enough to me. Also, I am definitely poking fun, and not actually being an asshole. Maynard is a lyrical genius and I agree. This is my favorite album. Between Mer De Noms and 10,000 days....you can sense the transformation of Maynard happening in every lyric.

Lost my faith about 33 years ago, and through the power of music I found your reaction channel. By watching you and your family reacting to the music, hearing the personal hardships you all have and are going through, I have started to open my mind again. Not completely closed minded now. I just wanted to let you know you're helping people with more than religious beliefs but with personal dealings. Keep the videos coming.

I'm not Christian. Actually, I'm not religious at all. Having said that, this has really been an interesting channel for me. I enjoy the insight and I LOVE seeing people react to music I love. I'd really enjoy seeing more APC reactions because they are pretty much the exact band meant for a channel like this. I'm sure people flood the comments with recommendations, but I'm with a number of people wanting to see The Noose on here. Beautiful song. Thanks for all your insights! ✌

Who was Injecting Negativity towards religion? All I said was it would make a good conversation about people that get a holier than thou mind set? Then you chimed in with an out of context comment. like I was somehow being Holier than thou by basically saying, "Hey if they reviewed this certain song they could have a good conversation on a certain mind set."
You say the song doesn't touch on the holier than thou mind set, then what does the "Halo" in the song represent? "Not to pull your halo down".
*Halo; a disk or circle of light shown surrounding or above the head of a saint or HOLY person to represent their HOLINESS.*
If you've every been in treatment, or talked with people that have, you'll know that some people on their road to recovery might take on a "Holier than thou" mind set and as you said they still haven't fully made amends with their past "sins". So they need to back up and realize they are not perfect and never will be. And that's ok. None of us are.
And since you wanna go on about how you are "Holier than thou" when it comes to music, and assuming someones "listening scope", I've been listening to Tool since Undertow came out in 93 when I was in high school to give away my age. Then, I learned more about them, like I've done with all the music I enjoy, and back tracked to Opiate. Then I Bought Every Tool and APC and Puscifer album and EP that has come out. I have also seen all three bands live many, many times. Was even set to see Tool again at Sonic Temple when they took over for Metallica before the show was canceled. I've seen countless live shows.
But, that does not make my opinions on a song or band or whatever more relevant. I never pretend that someones opinion or Interpretation of a song is wrong or mine is more valid then theirs. If nothing else, perhaps it is only my own interpretation of the song, as all music fans are allowed to have. Even the artists that make the wonderful music we enjoy have said as much time and again. In fact, I say your interpretation of the song is correct as well. It is about someone being a hypocrite (people that are Holier than thou are usually hypocrites). It is about people trying to remove themselves from their past and not owning it. It is about making amends, if nothing else, then with yourself. It's anything anyone wants it to be.
The only person that came on this thread with negativity, was you.
Sit back, enjoy the music and let others enjoy the music too.
Sorry, Elisa, that your comment was taken over like this. I've said my peace.

Mer de Noms (sea of names) is a great album, although I'm not sure if it is a concept album or not, I'd have to look that up. Their second album, 13th Step is definitely a concept album, about the 12 steps of recovery, the 13th being regression. I'd betcha you could get an interview with Maynard. He seems a lot more open to interviews the past few years it seems. Just talk about wine and Joni Mitchell, you'll be good. :)

A perfect circle has been my favorite band since I was 12 when I lost all my faith. Due to becoming an avid church goer on my own and a downward spiral. Losing my grandfather/ watching him suffer, my father disappearing on me. At that age I learned strength through music. Like slipknot and APC. They helped me to love myself again but I still hated the world. The more I watch you guys pick these songs apart the more I realize how much Maynard was struggling with the same things I was. And the more you guys uncover the more I see that he has something else hidden in his music. I have in the past two years opened myself back up to a higher power. But I couldn't see myself in a church. There is too much conformidy in the different churches. It reminds me too much of politics. I remember first watching you guys review an APC song and thought wow these guys are nothing like the "religious" people I know. I have starting a new relationship, which I believe Maynard did. It will be a personal one. since I have my outlook has definitely changed. As for all the different churches and joining one.. I feel this earth and the land we walk on is his we don't need a building to be his home. When he would rather live in our hearts.. anyways huge spiel. Don't know if you'll be able to read or follow it, but i wanted to say thank you.

I've been waiting for you to do "The Doomed" by a perfect circle. Love to hear your take on it. I see it as a commentary on society. References the Beatitudes from the sermon on the mount. "What of the pious, the pure of heart, the peaceful?
What of the meek, the mourning, and the merciful?" Etc. And seems to show that society has replaced them with the 7 deadly sins "Blessed are the envious
Bless the slothful, the wrathful, the vain
    Blessed are the gluttonous"

In a way it was kinda a concept album the name of the album is mer de nams which means sea of names. If you notice most of the names of the songs on the album are names. Like thomas and Judith. Also the song I think its called Renholder is a tribute to the guitarist and music producer Danny Lohner who sometimes goes by the name Renholder. He later played guitar for APC during their 13 step album.

Maynerd's mom was a devout Christian. Maynerd is angry because she had to go thru so much suffering but still remained faithful. He also saw the church treat her badly. He lost the mom as he knew her when he was 12. Had to leave & go to his dad's, who was very strict but, not Christian. Find the answers thru the Holy Spirit, who leads us into ALL truth. I think Peter was the only disciple that truly believed b4 Christ was risen. Mary & Mary Magdalene believed too.
