    It's usually low oil pressure that causes connecting rod knock, not the tune. A overly spicy timing map can cause Feedback knock/detonation which can break pistons. Any change in airflow to the engine will change the tune and should be checked for repetitive feedback knocking and the timing should be lowered in those areas if present.

    Bro my Wrx has 247000 just changed spark plugs and did a full coolant flush and still runs perfectly. Can hit it up to 18psi boost without knock feedback on the Cobb accessport 😂

    Hey lach mad video just curious where did you get them type of rear lights? looks so good and I hate the clear rear lights look.

      Hey mate I'm glad you liked the video! They're just a tail light vinyl overlay so they're cheap as and fairly easy to install. I can't remember where I got them but just give it a quick Google and I'm sure you can find a reputable store that stocks them!

    Hey Lach, very informative video. Im looking at getting a 2011 wrx hatch so this video was great.
    I also took a look at your "top 5 mods for daily driven wrx" and the "watch this before buyign a wrx/sti" which was also pretty informative.
    Just wondering if there are any mods you would recommend regarding keeping the wrx reliable? Or should i just make sure to keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle?
    Also would you tihnk that a accessport is worth it? The g3 im looking at only has a cobb cold air intake installed, owner says no tune either (not sure if the air intake requires a tune). Other than that it drives like a beauty.

      Hey Erick thanks for checking out my videos I appreciate your support! I wouldn't buy a WRX that's had a cold air intake and no tune as it can cause knocking with lean air to fuel ratios. As for reliable mods the most important thing is maintenance and I would also recommend an oil catch can or air oil separator, a proper Dyno tune and perhaps a larger radiator and intercooler if you plan to drive it hard. Other than that they're a pretty sweet car 😎

      @@00Lach Thanks for the quick reply, espesh at late hours.
      Got in contact with the owner, says it actually has an ots tune from cobb. The car has been giving me anxiety for months hahaha and i dont even own it yet.

      @@ErickD1XD No worries, an off the shelf tune for the cold air intake should be fine then 😎 Congrats on the new car!

    Greeting Lach, been watching your vids today as I’m looking to buy a ‘12 hatch soon. Looking at one with 140k miles on the odo. It’s stock, aside from a v3 Cobb accessport and grimspeed oil separator. She seems to be in good shape. I have enough money for maintenance($10k like you mentioned). Any thoughts? Is it a bad idea cause of the high miles? Pre purchase inspection will be done. Thanks in advance I’ve liked and subbed

      @00Lach  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate thanks for your support! It sounds like its in good shape but I would be slightly worried about the miles on the car. Is it a good price for the miles? If not maybe try find something around the 100k miles or less?

    • @GLo1991
      @GLo1991 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@00Lach he is asking $14k but is open to offers so I’m going to offer $12k if the inspection goes well. He does have maintenance records as well. It wouldn’t be my daily driver but the high miles isn’t ideal. If he doesn’t accept my offer I don’t mind waiting for another one. Anyway thanks again!

    Is it worth with a 5 speed manual and how do you know if a car has a short shifter? Can you still have the stock shift knob with a short shifter?

    • @00Lach
      @00Lach  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 5 speed is a longer ratio and it's quite nice because you can reach 100kmh in 2nd gear. Unless you're going to make big power the 5 speed is fine. Yes you can have a short shifter with a stock shift knob. It's just the lever that's a shorter throw.

      @@00Lach Thanks so much bro for the help. The vehicle I looked at was a subaru wrx, with about 261hp. I have heard the wrx runs into engine or gearbox issues. This car is a 2010 model with 58,060kms. He mentioned that it was garaged most of the time and taken on weekends now and then.

      @@fishyrishy788 Super low kms mate, she should be in pretty good condition. WRXs can have engine and gearbox issues but like anything if you treat it well it will serve you well. I had my WRX for over 100k kms and never had an issue.

    • @fishyrishy788
      @fishyrishy788 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@00Lach By treating it well im assuming ur saying not redlining every gearshift. I mean I do go mountain driving now and then and tend to go on weekly night drives for some fun. It should do the job right? Cause I was first concerned for the only 5 gears cause if I go on long drives to see my family that are in another state would this be ok? Or me investing into something like a brz would be better cause of the better overdrive in 6th gear

    • @00Lach
      @00Lach  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fishyrishy788 Yeah of course it will do the job. My BRZ runs about the same rpm doing a 100km in 6th than my WRX did in 5th. The ratios are shorter in the 6 speed.

    would you say this is a reliable engine? i’m currently considering either the g3 or the blobeye and really want a reliable engine that won’t fuck me

    • @00Lach
      @00Lach  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly both are similar in regards to overall reliability however the 2L has stronger internals if you go for an STi. It all depends on how the car has been maintained but I stand by the fact that if you take care of your WRX you'll get the miles out of it!
