@@xXCroWolfXx because a decent PC setup to match the xbox costs around 3x as much as the xbox does. If you can afford that then great but not everyone can afford £1500 for a pc
Been hearing a buzzing like an insect at the bottom of my console which seems to only happen while playing something.. it's silent in the home screen, I clean pretty regularly I'm guessing I have some coil whine. It's definitely quieter though on resolution mode.
Yup. It sounds like trash and it really makes the console feel cheap. No modern device should make that kind of annoying sound. My ears are pretty sensitive too and my God it's a torture. Wearing headphones while gaming is a must. Pathetic. .Sony really fucked up with this one. My Xbox Series X is DEAD SILENT.
The Coil Whine is heard loud in Assassin's Creed Valhalla but more so in its quality mode as opposed to the performance mode. The quality mode presents a more abrupt sound, well that in my case and I do not know if it is normal
Thanks for the info mate, I owned two ps5s and they both had loud coil whine, I returned both consoles because this noise is horrible to me. Now I have a series x and I'm geting a ps5 in two years more or less to play it exclusive games(sorry about my english, I'm from Spain).
So to explain to everyone. Older PS5 model's will have Coil Whine (Not much you can do about it) And sadly. Coil Whine will only get worse as newer PS5 games comes out. As GTA 5 is pushing my PS5 to it's limits.
@@KingRage1 hundreds of hours of gameplay. I've put at least 400 hours of gameplay on my PS5 so far if not more. If your issue is a capacitor in the power supply I don't know if that will settle. If it's from the APU, I think you're PS5 will eventually settle. It just depends on where the coil whine is coming from on your unit.
that sounds like fan vibrations, not coil whine. I had coil whine with a few boards, it's a high-pitched sound that varies greatly with what is displayed and the framerate, but it's not that low-frequency rattle which is more likely a fan that's unbalanced or dusty, or badly attached (or a part of the case badly attached that vibrates due to the fan activity).
Thisbis the first time i found out about it. There is some coil whine on mine after checking on it it is hard to hear tbh. Got lucky for the first time in my life
It's so fkn frustrating. I'm on my 3rd PS5 and it has exactly the same issue. Plus the disc drive is super loud. So loud in fact, my cat escapes the room each time I turn the console on. It's supposed to be whisper quiet. Quiet my ass. My PS4 Pro is way more quiet and it's supposed to be the loudest console.
When you put in a disk, the first like 30-45 seconds are supposed to be loud because it’s reading the disk very quickly, after that it should settle back to how it was

The coil whine is coming from the power supply. There are two capacitors spec spec probably should be higher capacity. They likely will be fixed in the next what are PS5s. Call wine in mine as well. That’s what happens when you buy something when it first comes out. Sucks but I just ignore it. Edit: PS4 games do not produce of wine in my PS5.
Yeah only ps5 games produce the whine. Not a problem for me as I use headphones when I play story games for example but when the ps5 slim comes out I will sold my ps5 and buy it
Same here. Never hear it before until i played Dead by Daylight ps5 version and it’s so loud there. And it’s gone for a sec every time i switchin things in game menu. So annoying. And many ps5 games have the same noises. Haven’t noticed this on ps4 btw
Why couldn't they have made it like the series X? Not even a whisper of couldn't whine. Puts me off buying another ps5 incase its the same as the previous 3 I've had

(Fps boost, VRR, quick resume, game pass). No amount of games would make me buy the ps5. Might aswell just use my quiet ps4 pro for the exclusives.
Always has been the same, unfortunately some SONY followers are really deep into the fanboyism, I been with Sony since 1994, but I have to say, some things that SONY is doing are just terrible.
I have noise problems with my series x now, for a few seconds while playing Flight Simulator, while Loading, beginning screen before the flight and when I get back (load screen) to the main menu. Strange: when I quit the game and to the xbox main site: the noise won’t stop. It is a high pitched electrical sound, like it is coming from the power supply - so Playstation owners: you are not alone!
@@yougamer2725 My PS4 Pro had the aircraft fan as well as severe coil whine, and that was even one of the later revisions of the system. So I wouldn't hold my breath on them fixing it. It's just a lottery.
@@yougamer2725 They absolutely could have fixed the fan noise for the Slim and Pro models. For one thing, they were using multiple fan suppliers, one of which was infamously loud, and they continued using those loud fans all generation.
Is this common? Because I just had my ps5 replaced and it have coil whine, and the ps5 I had before also had coil whine. Also the one I have now have the louder fan, the one before had the quieter one.(: Btw: Sony says the ps5 is whisper quiet, ITS DEFFINETLY NOT! It's still much more quiet then the ps4 though:)
I have seen 11 different consoles, all of them have coil whine in some degree, some are very loud, some you will notice it only if the console is on your desk

They said they repaired it and sent it back to me which is a lie, the noise is still the same as before, in addition they just sent me back the console with my original ps5 box where I put the ps5 in. But fan has nothing to do with coil whine. It's capacitors in power supply making all that noise. That why noise increases and decreases instantly depending on the load.
I have that for 1,5 year 😅 but im not playing without headphones(bcz i never in 20year played without headphones)so i don't hear that ....and it's only on some games for me
Hmmm mine makes the noise only when I play a game. If no game is open or if I switch back to the menu (holding the PS button) the noise immediately stops. I think if you have it all the time, even if you don't play I think this is your power supply.

I think this is the most important thing (actually I've got ps5 slim 2 weeks ago and I can hear this sound when I come near it and the same as you only while playing games so i was afraid that will affect my device , also I can hear this sound while it's off from the power cable (i don't know if that sound okay or not it's like electrical current sound )
Is a coil whine an exaggerated problem? I think this sound is masked by game sounds while playing. It can only be heard in a quiet room with no playing sound from TV. I don't have PS5 just asking coz i'm afraid of buying

They made a perfect console and then ruined it by not insulating a capacitor. Literally a 10 minute job

True, some consoles will reduce or totally eliminate the noise just by using them, but it’s just luck, could be gone could be with you forever

I have checked around 10 consoles, not even one is free of the horrendous noise, it’s a shame because I am really enjoying the console and it’s games

I am honest, I prefer the old loud fan noise of my ps4 over this ps5 coil whine.
As i have high-end pc i know this problem... But after changing PSU with high end one it's parerly noticable

You can turn Genshin Impact and see for yourself. It's already pushing PS5 to the limit. In my case it's unbearable to play.

In genshin I paused and the sound stops, unpause the game and it's loud again lol.

Mine started off quiet. Then got to similar to how it is in this video. It’s noticeable and distracting. Bums me out
