Thanks to you and a few others I’m now cleaning VLM. Don’t want to spend my senior days idle. I love cleaning carpets. You guys are from (relatively) close to me. I'm in Thunder Bay, ON. One of my great grandmothers was raised near Two Harbours and another was from Bemidji.
Way cool. I actually sold some equipment to a cleaning company in Thunder Bay a few years ago. We have a carpet cleaner who follows us and even uses our products up there.

It sure is awful. We are in that cleanup season right now and it is such a pain to take these jobs on. We have one coming up this week that is really small but I have this bad feeling we're going to be back more than one time tried to get it all fixed up
Thank you. Salt removal is one of those jobs that we hope it looks good the next day after it dries... Or it becomes the job that keeps on giving back 😉😅

@@MarkSaiger it’s awful! Not gonna lie, I just finished a hotel today, where I cleaned most of it yesterday, and had salt pop back up on me! Frustrating
Mark that is the good eatins I have that same problem at TSE I have my way of taking care of it I remove it each time without a problem and then I wet extract when it comes time to the wet extraction it turns out wonderful
Fascinating stuff, we use very little salt for snow here in Miami 🤪 Big thumbs up 👍👍👍 Amazing how things can be a problem that ya never thought of. That Code Red Encap is fantastic stuff I just gotta say! The Trinity Phoenix looks like an amazing machine, I think I gotta have one and I don't even do carpets lol. I bet it cleans my camera real good though 😎 👍👍👍👍👍
I did a job with commercial black carpet just like this before at a large daycare preschool. I don't live anywhere near snow or salt (deep south). The next day the people called us and said there was white stuff on the carpets in every room. It was just like this video. We had used regular pre-spray + hot water extraction to begin with, and once it dried apparently the white stuff came up. I believe in my case it was the Formula 90 my pops had us using in the 5gal injection, plus the prochem ultrapac pre-spray. Both chemicals state they leave behind a dry crystal to be vacuumed after drying. We were able to just run their upright vacuum in every room to get all the white up. Maybe this video issue is that instead of snow salt, or maybe it's both. Maybe he used a chem that dries to a crystal? I've never had white show up on any other carpet ever besides that one when using those chemicals. The type and color of carpet was eerily similar to the one in this video. 🤔 We debated it might be the water we used at their location, or something from the concrete was wicking up, but the only thing that made sense was the labels of the cleaners saying they dry to a clear crystal that can be vacuumed away. 🧂🧼🚿
They were back home working on Jobs. I was asked by Ben in the video if I might have some ideas to fix this problem carpet... So I drove to this place about 2.5 hours away. I have a number of new videos with the guys coming though 😊👍
Wow, great teaching. Never would have thought that much debris was still present after hwe. I thought the salt melted with that temperature of hot steam but it doesn’t obviously . Learned something new !!! Thanks again!!! Great video .
I do a dentist office every 6 months here in S Florida that also has carpet tiles, most areas are light green, one area is dark green. Of course we don't have the salt issue but I have to return every time to remove small white patches. Can this be efflorescence? It is simple to remove.. just mist with water and wipe with a rag. I do pre-vac, maybe I need to vac more thoroughly on the darker area since that's where most of the white patches appear?

I hope to enjoy that time of year back in Florida at #SaigersSouth... But I will be ready to deal with this when I get back home. I hope the only salt I see this winter in on the rim of a glass maybe 😁😎
They apply so much salt and ice melt Remover on the sidewalks in the winter, it tracks in on to the carpets. The salt never really totally dries. It even gets hard though and difficult to break up. When you get it wet again, and it looks like it's gone, all it did was explode everywhere. Then during drying after cleaning it rises to the top. Ben even Steam cleaned this twice and each time it got worse. This amount of salt and chemical ice melt is really tough to remove. We absolutely hate it too
Happens a lot in northern Minnesota what I do, Is I'll use the super spinner and salt away and soak it and suck it up as much as I can, And then you using a incapsule like oxy endcap pro with a cimax. And it goes away. I have done One of the busiest grocery stores in Bemidji Minnesota and I save their carpet.
Trinity OP machines. In this video I'm using the Trinity Phoenix. Really like it. I also have a smaller machine I carry on the van all the time. It's the Trinity Odyssey. I use it for quick touch up jobs, but I did run it on that large commercial job titled "We clean the tallest building in Clearwater Florida". Nice little unit. Great in residential situations also

Look for Products for sale on my website. We also have a Saiger's 2X Double Strength Encap (no oxy). I used that one on a pretty nasty manufacturing plant job on one of my roadtrips this year. www.saigers.com
We have used and tried many acid type cleaners /rinses. We have still ran into problems with the types and amounts of Ice Melts they use up here. We had a couple of years ago, a liquid ice melt used on a property. It stayed wet and gooey. That took some crazy mixture to break up... Took over for another company that was having trouble. It challenged us too. I swear they just about shovel the ice melt on the carpets here 😁. It becomes like a rock again.
Yeah Guys. SO YOU NEED TO AGITATE THE HELL OUT OF IT . I'm having the same problem at my building and with having OCD I want a clean building. It could be what is causing the ones I work for to be sneezing.
The dry agitation seems to help begin to break it up. Of course as you try to rinse it, it just keeps exploding and spreading. This place uses a bunch of salt. Really tough to remove. I've seen a quarter inch thick (or more) on top of some of the carpet in our area. Some cases, we have told them it would be better to replace and then hire us more often to maintain 😊
Actually he did vaccum before Steam cleaning each time, but the salt is so fine after each cleaning, regular vacuuming can't remove enough of it in this type of carpet. The CRB helped break up more (after it was now dry again) and to keep getting it Steam Clean wet, it just explodes again everywhere. I really hate taking on salt actually after a full winter of them tossing it daily on the sidewalks. One of the worst things to try and remove.
This is efflorescence from the concrete underneath the glue down tiles. This is not SALT! To much pressure when cleaned! It has happened in South Florida where I’m at.
It actually looks similar to that, but the salt was so thick and hard like concrete, it just wasn't able to be removed in the 2 hot water extraction cleanings prior. It does look like efflorescence such as Florida would have, but they apply salt and ice remover around our parts with seed spreaders... Really thick... It's some of the worst up here...
@@lylecameron_4347 I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge here also. There are many that don't run into Efflorescence and maybe with your sharing this comment they will investigate it. I do have to share that we had a church tile and grout job the guys did last winter. They were pretty happy to see it turn from a darker Grey grout to white. We thought it was a wow moment of clean... Until we found out it was supposed to be a light Grey color... Not white...Oops... We got burned by efflorescence coming through.
