I've owned a 2002 E46 with an N42 engine which is the worst of the worst when it comes to E46s, and a hybrid Forester, which is basically an Impreza. Hybrid because it consumed equal parts oil:petrol

Worst car I owned was a Opel/Vauxhall/Chevrolet Astra G. It loved to corrode on random spots and my uncle never had any accident with it besides a little contact between the rear bumper and the wall which left a scratch on the plastic bumper but it lasted me for over 400.000km
But well, let me tell you about the best cars I bought.
Mercedes W201 190D. I bought it in Bulgaria with 139.400km and I currently have 1.430.538km on it. It's such a nice city car but also I use it for traveling from Spain to Poland or Bulgaria.
I also recently got a Mercedes W124 200D (75hp/1997cc/OM601) with 930.000km and I bought it for dirt cheap and exported it to Poland where I plan to do some small repairs like the valve cover seal leaking oil and the exhaust system having more holes than a Swiss cheese but it only cost me 1023$ and it drives, starts and runs without any problems. I plan to make it my new daily since the W201 is a bit too small for traveling and I don't want to find out how long it will last till a total engine failure since I already had to replace the gearbox once.

The RX8 seems like a nice car to drive, with its good reputation for handling, nice gearbox, cool rear suicide doors, 4 seats, and the high reving unique rotary engine. With something like a mazdaspeed bodykit, it also looks quite decent. The prices aren't that high, but the maintance quirks, fuel consumption and repairs... I'm not sure I can afford the cost, time and head ache. E46 look undeniably great. The question is, what is a "good price"? Tack för en intressant video!

God I've spent some years repairing these things.

I've had 1999 E46 for 3 years. LCZ (Light control module) replaced, coolant expansion tank cracked a few weeks ago. It was the original one from factory. Currently it is at the shop having final stage resistor replaced for interior fan. Very common problems, but cheap to fix and will last another 25 years.

Owned my E46 M3 since I bought it brand new, been a good car but it’s developing issues as it ages. Definitely would not buy one that’s had 4+ owners. But a low mileage 1 owner would be pretty sweet, would cost a lot though.

@@ShortShortsfromreddit I can see it. My first car was a Camry and it was and absolute piece of garbage. I’ve owned 8 cars and it was the worst. Naturally, that has more to do with previous owners. But it’s just a reminder that even notoriously reliable cars can let you down.

I love my e46 330ci, but I can't really compete in motorsports near me with it. Also, most of the issues can be fixed by buying the m car and getting the subframe reinforced. I did have to replace a head gasket and the power steering hoses, but that's it so far! And mine is an 03 with 158,000 miles.
