Gundam has always having Multinational cast, especially UC and I think casting from the western cast is not an issue, however, it came back to how the production team understand the material they're going to adapt. Understand the basics and intriguing VFX would determined how this movie would perform. My personal "dream" on Gundam live action is to make it less blockbuster movie but instead a profound Cinema. something like Dune or Bladerunner had done before. In contrary, I believe 0079 could be a great adaptation, as long as they can distinct it with Original movie. Like maybe adapting some elements from the novel or Origins manga.
wont lie the director change has me concerned, especially because they didn’t announce any delay. which means that they’re probably going to have to work with whatever budget they have left and whatever has already been produced has been wasted or is going to be reused (shoehorned in)
Jim mickle? The guy who has NO experience in large CGI characters and who specifically writes horror or drama? At least the other guy directed skull island, which was SPECIFICALLY about a big CGI character. How is Jim the better choice?? I like sweet tooth, but it's not something I'd consider to be like gundam. They should get the director who made Pacific rim.
I'd argue drama and horror is paramount to getting the Gundam story right. If it's just big robots...that doesn't move the needle. Pacific Rim didn't move the needle. By your argument, Pacific Rim 2 got the director of some episodes of Buffy and Smallville because the first didn't land, so they went budget....and that was it.
@GundamExplained did you even read my comment? That wasn't my point at all. My point is, he doesn't have ANY experience in giant CGI characters. The whole gundam aspect is kinda the main part of this idea. It's literally ALL about the giant robots. It's like making a crime drama but the only crime committed is parking tickets. Horror? In a gundam movie?literally they've only done that ONCE and it was from Zeon's perspective. Horror isn't applicable to this.
What was even woke about requiem for a vengeance? Like wtf is woke about it? Cause it stars one white lady and a bunch of black guys? Cause there's a pink haired bitch we would all bang but never wife up? I hate woke shit but Im pretty sure that was a show about space nazis
I don't understand this complaint. Gundam has always been "woke" and that is not a bad thing. It has always had strong political messages and overtones about real life issues. It has always had strong female or minority characters, and of course it has the recurring extremely controversial and "woke" message that WAR IS BAD. You are obviously entitled to your own opinion, but in this instance your opinion seems rather half-baked.
Same sweet tooth definitely not my thing. Excited as well live action might just the thing it needs to get Gundam back into the charts.
After Req-Ven, I'm now very hopeful for the live film!
Nice shirt btw!
Haha thanks!

They didn't start production yet.
For a minute I thought you were talking about the twisted metal series on peacock. 😂
lol! Honestly....that's the first thing I thought too, and was like, "oh no...". Even though it was fine, that's not the direction.

@S0n0fG0D Gundam is deeper than giant robots and it's not what made Gundam popular. The real Jesus would know this.
yay I can't wait for more woke type shit
Hopefully not. Im gonna stay positive until then.

Mickle is not woke

As a growing creator, these comments get worse and worse. It tells me just how many people have unresolved trauma to work through.
