paul has always had high damage thats what literally defines the character and ling gets plenty of backlash for her damage because shes always traded good damage for braindead waifu evasion tactics in t8 she has both for no reason
DvJ IS pretty bad tho lol, he is just cheesy enough to get you through earlier ranks with relative ease. Ling has been talked about since 3 updates ago, and her damage has been on the topic at around the same time as Yoshi's damage.

Ok so the most important thing to understand is that wr does have value only if we put them in comparison to how much the character is played. To have wr with a value that does make sense will be if all the register character have the exact same amount of game otherwise obviously the most played character will regulate the wr. We can easily observe that in the master division played/wr i take master as an exemple all the top played character will mostly find themself at the bottom wr character. Same goes for the less played character becoming for this same reason top winrate. But we can still see that dragunov in master rank is top 2 played character but still top6 wr. Lee is also an interresting case top 9 played but still top 15 wr.
I actually find it interesting how little the usage rates are spread out. If count Kuma/Panda together (since they're 99% the same) then Zafina is the least popular character, and Jin only gets used just over 8 times more than her. 1:8 least:most popular is surprisingly good imo
people who say shaheen is op i don’t think have played him. he has some of the hardest combos in the game at high level. his bnbs without heat, walls, rage etc your lucky if you get above 65. his combos require ws3 loops and fc moves, stealth step cancels, etc. he requires 5 to 7 stealth step cancels per combo to get max damage. going for 2 to 3 ws 3 loops you stand a stronger chance of dropping it than getting it. shaheen has very duckable and readable strings. but he’s solid. he has the tool kit to get the job done and if you are willing to put the work in you can smoke people. op though? nah…. i like where he is at balance wise when it comes to how tekken 8 is. all characters are busted to some degree just depends on the degree. anyways…
It's also important to add that these statistics are for the most active players only. There are other ways of gathering data and those give overall much lower rankings. Garyu is about 50% for example. Reason for being is that the more casual players that don't grind every day are in the lower ranks but don't get counted in these graphs.
He has moved that have very good range, a good unblockable, a great evasion move, electric, can fly from ground that can go into other attacks n a launching hellsweep people are terrified of Im not saying he’s great but at mid levels he’s still a nightmare if u don’t know what ur looking for

Putting shaheen and claudio next to devil jin is insane lmfao. Shaheen and Claudio are undisputed top 10 characters and they do really well in tournaments. Meanwhile devil jin is just objectively shit, even Momodog said he's fed up with maining DJ because the effort/reward scale is just too bad with this character.
Arslan ash put him in bottom 7, Anakin has him in bottom 9, MMS has him bottom 1 (when factoring how much time you have to put in for getting equal reward compared to any other charcater), and he says no charcater in the game is garbage besides dj. But I guess you just know something that all the other pros doesn't know 💀

With the ranked win statistics divorced from ranks it is hard to interpret the data. For example, I don't view Zafina as a character that anyone just jumps into. Perhaps the people who play her are mostly high ranked, and that contributes along with her being a knowledge check character. Who knows?
Most people playing her are high level players and no one knows the matchup. I don't get why she's not popular she's one of the more aesthetically pleasing characters, interesting and not that hard to pick up once you understand her stances

high difficulty, high execution, reliance on fundamentals combine that with linear gameplan and lack of panic moves and gimmicks. as reina you pretty much have to be objectively better than your opponent to win. its a mystery to me why good reinas aren't that respected.
To add to what everyone already said, I think a good number of Reina players are complete beginners to the series, or even FGs in general. Judging from how extremely well Reina's reveal trailer was received, I think many newbies bought the game because they were drawn to it by the character. This explains why Reina's winrate is much higher on higher ranks compared to lower ones. Green, yellow, and orange rank Reina's are responsible for the overall low winrate.
