Mighty Ruler. I'd say having enough of a variety of combos or having the muscle memory to be able to mix up and institute enough variety into my playstyle to not become predictable for my opponent to exploit. I also open myself up to punishes too much.

It’s for different characters I play, like I play Steve but since he’s a pretty popular character and not really op so it’s harder, people know how he moves and aren’t thrown off. Yet I play Shaheen for the same amount of time and can breeze past the point I’m at with Steve because well he’s a better character and also people don’t know what the hell I’m doing.

Got the most important advice for yall on this. DONT SAVE SCUM, join player lobbies that allow 1 fight at a time and WATCH HOW THEY BEAT SOMEONE ELSE. It will Click in your head how to beat something in specific. Watching that in real time made me a god (tekken King) in no time at all. you dont even need them to play the same character. say you main alisa and you struggle against king, you join a player lobby, they happen to be good, and you see how this random jun is able to destroy king by stepping this way or blocking that way and punishing, now when you fight this same king in the lobby you know how to beat that before you fought him. Best way to learn imo. DO NOT TRY TO LEARN YOUR OPPONENT AND NOT THE CHARACTER YOU HAVE TO DO BOTH. Anyone really good will swap how they play on a dime, especially when it stops winning for them.

Yeah play player match against good people unless you really care for ranked 💀It doesnt get better the higher you get. I just got my tekken king rank so i can have a badge for player match 😭😭 But an easy way to get out of red ranks is literally spam evasion moves when you think your opponent will throw because. RED RANKS LOVE THEM THROWS. i got out of red ranks for my buddy on his PC by using jacks D 1+2 every time i knew a throw was coming as its like a 100 damage combo. I'm at Tekken Emperor, was halfway to getting promoted to Tekken God, got demoted all the way to Bushin, then had to go on multiple winning streaks to get back to Tekken Emperor. Ranked can be absolutely brutal, especially with the new prowess matchmaking bs and the losing streak deductions. Despite the fact that this Jin might be the 3rd best Jin out of every Tekken version (I've been playing since Tekken 3, and Tekken 3 and 4 Jin were stronger) and he's top 7 imo, I still have trouble against the countless Dragunov, Feng, Alisa, and Xiaoyu players I see online.

Excellent advice, I’ve been stuck at Flame/Battle Ruler and sometimes I frustrate myself because I’m recognizing a lot of strings at this point and still mash at times when I should know better. I can tip my hat when I lose against someone that is clearly better than me or has a good read or counter to what I’m doing. But when I lose a set because I did something stupid on my end (for example doing Azucena’s super unsafe db1+2 to try and launch them without even setting it up or anticipating a high) I just shake my damn head like why did I do that??? 🤦🏽‍♂️ but once I tighten up those careless mistakes I’ll make it to blue for sure.

Here's something that helped me climb ranks fast: the lower your rank, the more you can autopilot CH pressure, and the higher your rank, the less you can, but the more you can mix.
People in orange ranks to red ranks never respect your plus frames. Using Lars, I always catch opponents pressing buttons after his d/b+4 on hit so they eat his FC d/f+2. However in purple ranks, they start respecting this, so I need to break that habit and do his mix with lows out of it.

Currently TGS with a few side characters at Tekken King, my biggest advice for Tekken King and onwards would be to really test your opponent. You need to gain as much information as you can about them and use it against them. I personally love to use my plus frames for this, for example, i'll do a move that's plus on block and just see how far their knowledge goes the first time. To they side step afterwards ? Do they challenge ? Do they just try to backdash out of it ? Whatever they do tells you alot, you just gotta pay attention instead of caring too much about winning, that's how I grew at least

.their key moves and frame data
      .common flow charts
      .unsafe launchers
.option selects for stance mix ups.

When I got to Tekken God I had to switch my style to a more passive approach than my normal aggressive rush down. After switching my style I just started climbing the ranks but you need to practice your punishes on each character to maximize your damage because the damage adds up and possibly get closer to death if you did the right punishes. From playing patient I got to GoD but not all games I play passive I sometimes play aggressive depending on how the opponent plays after the first round.

really, really good video here. i made it to tekken king as a kazuya player last month, but somehow got knocked all the way back down to raijin unfortunately and took a break ever since for the most part. i think the busted matchmaking process that takes into account tekken prowess is to blame for this and i think that adds some caveats to your otherwise excellent points.
in order for me to get back into ranks i achieved before like kishin or bushin, i know have to be a much better player than i currently am, and it's exhausting and annoying. and kazuya's weaknesses are much more apparent for me now when i get matched up against a whole lot of tekken kings and emperors who are playing with different characters in the blue ranks. i lose a lot more now than i win lol. i'm gonna need to find another character soon
your point about conditioning opponents in the gold ranks is good and correct, but tbh i think that's really important in the blue ranks too. at least, if you want to stay in the blue ranks. it's helped me a lot tbh

For me, playing in the gold ranks (Tekken King +) is all about your state of mind. Reaction time and adaptation speed matter a lot more. In lower ranks, it's okay to miss opportunities since opponents are more predictable and have more exploitable weaknesses that don't require reads. But in higher ranks, you need sharp reactions and quick mid-round adaptation. For example, when I'm fully awake, I can punish fast recovery moves or adjust my strategy mid-round, whereas when I'm tired, I only realize what went wrong after the round or maybe even after the match. In gold ranks, homework test time vs the character is over, its all about player vs player performance.

Since it’s my first Tekken there is so much to take in especially when you’re only learning match ups through ranked 😂.

I’m a Fujin on 2 different accounts both with no demotion risk.. I think my biggest problem is getting out of these ranks is my lack of patience.. I really haven’t played rank lately.. but I have noticed fighting Tekken Kings is a little easier than it used to be.. when I say easier by that I mean I can win sometimes.. I want to note.. getting out of battle ruler was challenging because of fighting some higher blue ranks

As someone who wanted a 1) strong 2) parries and 3) easy go for azu. You get to learn and make multiple flow charts that can cancel into each other. Once i really started getting the fundies down as far as when to side step on some characters this character becomes a steam roller

I remember having the best experience with Tekken ranked when I didn't worry about escaping ranks (T5DR to T7/Season 1 to 2.. or 3). I guess those kind of worries didn't exist for me back then. However, everyone worries about it now, so the fun is kinda gone.

I didn't lose points at all til Tenryu.
I was "stuck" there for a month, but that was my fault for being too stupid.
I got over that, relaxed, adapted, and I flew through ranks. Ups and downs, but yeah I got pretty high.
Even so, I'll keep improving. You never stop improving. The key thing to keep in mind is to stop thinking of yourself as the best. You're not. And that's ok. You can always be better.
Also, stick to characters you enjoy. If you just pick a character "because easy" and all that, you won't enjoy the game. The most important thing is to enjoy it in the end.

My advice for easier rank up is setting your find match to +-3. There are more players in lower rank so you will have favourable match ups most of the time.
I used to have mine at +-2 and for some reason 50% of my games were vs players with 50k prowess more than me playing their sub chars. This is weird since there should be more players below me to match so I think there could be an algorithm that when your winrates is too high vs players below you then they will match you with ones above.

Every guide says matchup knowledge starts at like blue rank but i sweat if you are new you have to start labbing your matchups at Red ranks if you are hard stuck. I think most contact creators know the game too well to imagine trying to play red ranks without actually having any matchup knowledge. It is not easy and getting that baseline of knowledge is how you get out.

What's the most effective way to learn characters as quickly as possible in order to effectively counter them? Tekken 8 is my first fighting game ever and I literally went through all moves of very character writing down all their punishable moves and even including specific note. But especially when it comes to characters such as Steve, Azucena, or Hwoarang, it is incredibly difficult to recognize their individual moves because they all look the same. The obvious answer would be to try to learn to play them for a week but spending 32 weeks learning other characters than your main is a slow process. Do you have any other recommendations with faster results?

I've been bouncing between Fujin and Kishin for a few months now and just can't seem to break through. My struggle is with characters that I don't know the match up well enough and am constantly getting knowledge checked. I main Alisa and everyone says they struggle with her, but since I understand the match up I'm near 60% win rate in the mirror match, but I really struggle with Jack, Nina, and Lidia. In a really ironic turn, my best matchup is Panda, but my worst is Kuma. 🤷‍♂

I've been Fujin for 2 months and it's been very frustrating. As a Jin player, I've realized that I don't utilize his 2,1,4 and f4 as much as other players. I'm watching all these other Jin players in higher ranks and they heavily use them. Besides that, it feels like my movement isn't great enough yet. Sidestepping, KBD, Wavedash, stuff like that, I'm just not great at it. Whiff punishing is a huge area I need to improve on, I've slowly started to get better at it. Lastly, my defense isn't as great as it needs to be. Overall yeah, I've got a lot to learn but I'm Fujin so far. I just need to improve and keep training I think.
