    I love how close you came to a mini replica. I also love how you are ok with the fact that it’s not exact. It gets the point fully across! Love this.

    As one of the owners of the Historic Holt Hotel, I thank your for choosing our building to feature in your downtown Wichita Falls, TX scene. The Holt has been an anchor for our downtown since 1910 and you have certainly done her justice with your recreation. Feel free to contact me if you would like a tour of our building.

    Great work Ron. Shows just what one can do to simulate a real structure by kitbashing. A real inspiration, thanks.

    This build turned out great Ron. very well explained and showed, and the fact that it took you 2 months to finish is no big deal. Just look at the outcome.

    Great series Ron, I admire the skill it must take to pull off such a feat in N scale. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your work with the rest of us. Cheers, Rob

    Ron, I enjoyed this series, I like how you planned ahead for things like lighting and interiors. Speaking of interiors people don't realize how the more simple you make the interior pieces and furniture the more detailed they look. Our minds eye can trick us into seeing a wealth of detail that upon closer inspection simply isn't there. Good work buddy, can't wait for the next one!!

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Todd. Yes, I think the ability to trick the eye is one of the advantages of N scale. The small size causes your mind to fill in lots of blanks. Thanks for watching.

      Ron: I love your show! I have downloaded all the episodes I could find, but I don't know what the date of the last one I recorded, nor where an index is found. One more item: Unless Washington used it to plan the attack on Trenton, I suggest you retire that red/pink cutting mat from your TH-cam videos and use a nice new green one for your viewing public. Regards, Snowtiger1, aka Eldon Lowman

    Ron, that turned out Fantastic!! 👏👏👏👍👍
    Got more ideas too. Not that I can buy ANYTHING yet.... but I've GOT to get one of those Xacto line cutting boards!! So handy of a gadget. It's on "the list" anyway.
    I think that the "curtains" behind the window shades, is one of those simple yet brilliant ideas!! Also, another one I've got to remember.
    As someone who loves doing interiors in my Buildings, I really like what you're doing, with respect to "giving your Building some Life"! Another simple, and convincing couple of tricks. What intimidates many less experienced Modelers, is their perception that doing interiors is a daunting, difficult and very tedious task....
    You have seemed to learn the same sorts of things that I had - MOST fine details are really just "Smoke and Mirrors"!! Create a good *enough* illusion of full details, and most of the time, your mind WILL try to trick you into thinking that there's much more than what's really there! 😛😎😉
    EXCELLENT work, another great video!!

      Ron, you do a great service to the Model Railroading community! I can't wait until I can get back into making videos again. It's been too long.
      I feel like it's our Responsibility, to share our thoughts and experience to upcoming Generations, and to even share new techniques with fellow Modelers, who might never hear about them otherwise!
      You seemingly took off out of nowhere!!! 😵😱😱👍👍 Not a new Modeler obviously, but it seems like you just entered the Community less than a year ago, and now you're Everywhere - with side projects, big time Collaborations - with Sponsorship, and just apparently quite a rapid success!!
      That's quite enviable and admirable.
      I've been on TH-cam since 2002! A very small following knows who I am..... that's it.
      I started this new Channel about 6 Months ago, completely looking for a fresh start. I'm looking to people like yourself, as models of how to do it RIGHT!
      Of course, I could have never forseen the Pit of Hell, that my Family has been thrown into. So.... priorities! It just means I have to live longer!! 😛

    I have always wanted to model the Maxwell House Hotel. The Protype is in Chattanooga Tennessee.
    You have given me some ideas on how to model that Hotel.

    Keep them comming.

    I can't even imagine the amount of patience you have... especially in N scale. I have an O scale Zephyr train that has a complete interior, but it's devoid of people. One day I will add people, but I look at it as a major undertaking :)

    Google Maps gives great view of the Holt Apartments. They look a lot like your structure ! : -) Well done. How about a build of the "Yard Office" of the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum and rail cars display including the F.W. & D #304 2-8-0 just a block away on 8th street? Got room?

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mlke Simmons I considered that but I don't have the space. I do intend to model an old warehouse and the world's littlest skyscraper just a block down the tracks.

    Stunning work Ron, lighting certainly takes it to a new level. Impressed there's no light bleed which can sometimes spoil the affect. I wonder what the room rates are? Railway facing or Truman Show Facing LOL. Love you work :)

    • @RonsTrainsNThings

      I worked hard to protect against light bleed, but the ability to dim the lights helps tremendously.

    Just curious why you put a plastic floor on each floor? Seems to me if you took them out you could light the entire project with 1 light? Unless you have open windows and want to decorate each floor to look in the windows? Just asking. I'm still new and learning the kitbash stuff. Thanks

      @pacbeltrr38 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ron. We've thought about it, several times....
      5 years ago, I lost BOTH of my Parents, within 33 days. My Dad, being a WAY Bigger Hotshot in the Air Than I ever was (HE flew the SR-71 Blackbird!!!), was entitled to the Full Honors Funeral, Burial, Color Guard, Marine percession, 21-Gun Salute, ect... at Arlington National Cemetery, with my Mama as well.
      What we NEEDED, was about $4000, to get their Bodies from Arizona to D.C., and to get my wife and I there and back, plus $3100 for a Casket (Dad's was included in the Service).
      So..... I set up a GoFundMe page. Sadly, my lack of out front media presence for at least 2 years before that (I moved my Parents into my Home, and took care of them), meant essentially that almost NOBODY saw it....... Save for a couple of smartass remarks from not good people, one $100 donation, and a *$1.00* donation - with a lengthy note about NOT faking it on GoFundMe!
      Again, another helpless Life is on the line.... We're trying to get this right.
      *Especially* since I DID do it 5 years ago, AND have been trying (struggling) with the PayPal.me, since last November, when I lost my Daughter, in a horrific crash with a Semi.
      We were already beat down and TRULY broke, after having to sell nearly everything to get us through what happened with Mama and Dad. We couldn't save the House, and lost it...
      We've been starving since (I've lost over 100lbs, and Cindi lost 45, in the past year).
      We're living a never ending Nightmare.... And the thing is, even as I'm writing this out, *I don't believe it!* So I guess the fact that few others believe it, no longer surprises me.
      I'll probably end up doing GoFundMe anyway. We passed Desperate, over 3 years ago. GAWD, even a couple of Hundred, to give my kids and grandkids at least a decent Christmas, would at least boost some sorely needed morale.
      God Bless, and I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas Season!

      I noticed that was a particular problem with this video, especially with the roof-top sign. White won't work because it reflects too much light and washes out in the camera. I will experiment a little here. Who knows, perhaps I will get a new cutting mat/work surface for Christmas. 👍
