I know you guys thought the series was dead, but it was just delayed. Introducing #Cargasm Ep.2 driving one of the most iconic american muscle cars of recent years. It's been a dream of mine to drive this particular car since I first saw it in the parking garage at Microsoft and now owner Bruce McCallum (also my manager for 15 years at MS) has given me the opportunity and I hope you guys enjoy it. Probably one of the best days of my life just cruising through the mountains in this unforgiving beast. If you want to see more content like this in the future it was be on the Cargasm channel @ th-cam.com/users/cargasm so make sure you head over there and subscribe. I'm only publishing this video here because I'm so damn proud of how it turned out working with Volair Media (@volairmedia on Twitter) and doing some crazy shots with the RED Raven Cinema Camera they had. Enjoy the show and be vocal in the comments, even if it is just trolling. Every comment boosts my SEO so have at it boys :D
I need to 3D print me a couple of these, just a bit larger for ball room. Just need to get a larger version of these printers. YT Chan. - Tested - Formlabs Fuse 1 SLS 3D Printer Demo
The reason you can turn the key that far back and it wont come out is for listening to the radio without turning the car on or starting up every other electrical features. Its the Accessory switch.
Bingo, not used to this at all driving modern cars that use the first click forward method. But now I vaguely remember this being the same on my moms old Chrysler Cordoba.
It's really weird to see how many of the interior pieces in a viper are the same as in my Dodge pickup. And yes, the ignition not letting go of the key in the farthest back position is on purpose and I actually really like it. I never turn the key too far back and can't get it out, but I do like the being able to click it back to put it into accessory mode.
I haven't been watching your videos as much lately, and this video was a hell of a way to break my Nerdgasm fast. I'm glad you're still doing great, Barnacules!
Thanks man! I quite enjoyed making this video but we need to have a better plan next time since we go so caught up in it we shot over 9 hours of footage and that is why the edit literally took months :D
yep. He could even take some lessons from you about using a mic inside vehicles. Something he still has not refined yet. But i do love his channel and yours.

Thank you for the information! The source I got the data from referred to it as a Hydraulic Piston and spoke to it's forced induction compatibility properties. I'll admit I'm not a genuis on all this stuff when driving cars I know very little about the internals of. But I do my best and I hope you enjoyed the video!
I absolutely will! I have no shortage of cool cars to review. Just had a rough year in 2017 and things are finally starting to get back to normal a bit.
I'm a a big fan of your channel, but Dodge Viper Engines were never produced by Lamborghini. When Lamborghini was owned by Chrysler, they helped design and prototype the Viper engine block and that's it. Viper engines have always been produced at the Mound rd engine plant in Detroit and then the Conner Ave Engine plant in Detroit. I know this because my buddy Fred worked at both plants and I own a 2005 Viper. Besides that, great review. BTW, I broke my my rear-end/axle, the replacement was shipped to the US from Daimler in Germany.
Dino Well, you got to have that last smoke before you end up in a huge fireball. After missing that Apex and tumbling the car ten times. Burst into flames. And goes off like a Nuke hit it.
The key thing with it flipping backwards is for the accessory setting. If you noticed when you flipped it to the back the stereo stayed on. When you removed the key the stereo turned off. My 02 Sebring does the same thing.
Good to see you back, Jerry! You're pretty brave driving such a powerful car after your crash. Hope you and the family is doing alright, and I wish you the best! Great video too, and great quality!
Actually I drove this before the crash, editing just took forever. But I still drive my STI like I stole it every single day, I don't let things like a crash scare me away from driving because it's a passion of mine. If race car drivers quit every time they stuffed a car they wouldn't be race car drivers.
Great video! People still love these cars, you can't help but draw crowds in this car. I have a B&W 1996 UGR TT GTS. Just about everything on it has been modified, except the body. It's an absolute monster with 1125 rwhp on pump gas and 1500+ on race gas (I've never been able to get it to hold traction over this power level on the dyno). It's run 7.76 at 186 mph in the 1/4 with the factory based 6sp and IRS, and that was around 10 years ago. These cars are so raw and fun to drive, but they can be a handful when modified! Mine makes my C6Z feel like a modern Caddy, LOL! The only car I own that's more raw is the SL-C, but it's basically a prototype race car that can be driven on the street...
The key turns one click back past where you can remove it, to a position called "Auxillary position". It only runs the radio and the a/c fans. Look closely when you turn the key back, the radio lights up.
The ignition going one extra click back is accesory power. If you notice it turned the radio on. Our 1996 dodge intrepid does that.. Instead of it being between run and off its one click back from off.
a true accurate review. Loud(with perf exhaust), touchy steering, flat magneted to the road, sitting in trunk, ANALOG raw power no traction control just go fast track car deemed road legal. fun and scary to drive if its not hot out and dry. REMEMBER, this car has 500 ft/lbs of torque, so most cars that get that kind of torque are 750-800hp cars like hellcat! So thats what it feels like street light to street light but with only mid 3000's in weight
That owner has some balls. Vipers bite with no warning and the rain makes it even more lethal. I can't see me letting anyone drive my car and especially not in the rain. Vipers can be unforgiving of even the smallest mistake. Great video.
Wow such movie-quality 4K shots of the car in beautiful nature. At times like these I thank the 4K god for my monitor and techtubers to provide me with such great content. You give me joy in my own depressions Jerry, recently watched a couple of your newer videos after some break on my part. Razor phone, mech review, car crash vlog.. all brightened my day a little bit.) "Your speed doesn't matter. Forward is forward."
Fall in love with car videos since this, before this I don't care even a little bit. Thank you throw me into another time wasting big hole, thank you man.
The key position all the way back was a pretty common feature for cars of that age and older. It something like accessory mode. Allows you to turn on your radio and perhaps other accessories of the car without turning it on.
This is one of my all time favourite American muscle cars, it's absolutely gorgeous, and you're so lucky to get to drive in a mint condition example. Gran Turismo is probably the only way I'll ever own one, but at least I can race one around the Nurburgring Nordschleif or Laguna Seca without worrying about crashing it. :) Also the quality of the camera work is stunning in this video Jerry, your camera operator and editor/s are amazing, they really showed off this car at its absolute best.
Jerry, I didn't think you'd do another car related video so fast after your last video. Just an unfortunate coincidence I'm sure, and I know you're a great car guy. I trust your opinion on cars, tech, and car tech. With that said, let me just turn my 4k TV on so I can watch in the highest detail.
RE: Key position feature? Yes, it is a feature. It was very, very common on old cars. Pull the key towards you for parking and listening to the radio, using the cigarette lighter (on some cars), push the key one tick forward to be ready to start. That includes powering up electric fuel pump where applicable and running power through the coil. It was recommended that if you didn't plan to start the car, but, wanted to run your electrical stuff, you should use the accessory setting.
The key turns back past lock because that's the radio mode. Only the radio is in so if you're sitting in your car and just want to listen to the radio without draining the battery with everything else you turn the key back.
Howdy Jerry.... the key going back from where you pull it out is called accessory, the new cars have it in front of the insert position......Hell my 68 Pontiac Catalina with its all steel dashboard or my 70 Chevelle would blow you away with how little cars had back then plus that's when you know yer in an old car also there are a few cars over seas with the seat belts that come from the center of the Cockpit as its called, last thing on the CUP holder ( i was told by the dealer when I went to look at possibly buying a Viper) The dealer in FL told me they did not install any due to the heat coming from the floor of the car.....sounds like maybe but idk just thought ide pass that on......I told you to move down here to FL you would see every car ever made.......I am an hour from Mecum in Kissimmee.. Anyway nice to see yer out there playing with a car thats got an engine now.....no more electric shit... too soon? sorry was not being a dick just messing with you.
This was my first dream car. Always loved the blue with the white stripes. I wish someday i could be as lucky as you to drive one of these monsters. Awesome video and beautiful shots of a legendary car. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to ep3
The "key all the way back" is a feature that Chrysler had since at least the '80s so that you can listen to the radio without powering the ignition system. I think the wipers also work in that mode. (I have worked at a CDJR dealership for over 20 years.)
Carroll Shelby had a big hand in the creation of the dodge viper and other dodge products. most ppl only know him for his work with Ford. i wished they would of produced the Dodge Viper GTSR. i love the look of that car.
Absolutely, everything he touched was gold. I watched a series last year on a get together where all the Shelby Cars around the country grouped up in CA for a shoot and it was absolutely amazing, every single one of them even the really obscure stuff you wouldn't have thought he was involved in like the hot hatches not only looked awesome but still by todays standards performed well.
Aero nerd here. Great video! Just wanted to point out that the vents over the wheel arches are actually extractors. They let warm air built up around the tires/brakes escape.
Thank you! I love Epic-Exposure studio, one of the few places around here that you can shoot a car in a controlled light environment on a turntable that moves!
I have a custom Chevy smallblock that was rated at 300hp. It actually was closed to 400. Apparently a lot of manufacturers under rate the horsepower for insurance reasons.
Hmm... When you turn the key all the way back you can run the radio and power windows without draining the batteries. The actual off position is always one click from the back. Most cars had that feature up until not too long ago...
I have a friend who's a mechanic. He told me a story once a guy towed on Viper to their shop (they specialized in racing cars) and the guy told them "make sure you open all windows and doors before you started". Surely, my buddy and his mates forgot a about it. Once they started it, the noise broke 3 windows in the shop. Obviously the exhaust wasn't the stock one.
Pulling the key all the way back turns on accessory power. Like if you want to keep the radio on. Back in the 90's people loved to go to the beach and blast the in car stereo. Most cars from the nineties had this.
I've had cars that have the weird key thing. It was common in the 90s I believe to run your auxiliary things like the radio without having the engine running.
Jerry, if i've never driven a manual car. how hard is it to learn to drive a subaru wrx sti? i really want to get one but i've never driven a manual car. and i feel like it'd be some sort of sacrilege to pay for an automatic transmission to be put into the sti.
Absolutely amazing ... This is the first car thing I've seen that's actually BETTER(!) than the original British Top Gear ..... so fun; so informative ......
Washington native here. Seeing western Washington through a video reminded me how beautiful it is. Nice driving B roll tho. Beautiful scenery. Loved this video. Thanks for sharing!
"An engine with wheels attached to it" - I kind of get that feeling about my turbo diesel car when I accelerate. It is a wonderfully powerful little thing, yet gets good mileage and doesn't overheat when stopped. :p
Being unable to remove the key when in the ACC position is pretty standard in older cars as it prevented you from accidently leaving the accessories on when pulling the key and leaving only to return later to a dead battery. Keep in mind the newest vehicle I've ever owned is a 2000 Chevy S-10 that I currently own along with a 69' Cutlass. I don't like cars that can spy on me. LOL. Take care and God Bless from Florida.

Barnacules Nerdgasm I'm cringing everytime you put your fingerprints on that car.
I have the same thing in my 2001 camary :^)
Yeah my intrepid has it and my Durango I had did the same
my 2001 chrysler sebring LX has the same feature
I think my 2004 Mustang has that also.
Holy Shit This car actually requires Blinker fluid
Quite literally :D hahahaha
xd i remember the prank and I actually tried to get my mom to get "blinker fluid" the first time I saw it.

Key turned backwards is acc spot to only turn on the radio and accessory jack without all the gauges and elecs on
I've watched a lot of viper videos. Including Doug Demuro and others who have owned them, and none of them have ever mentioned overheating in traffic
Doug Demuro would be proud....
I sure hope so, I absolutely love his videos and he greatly inspired this series.
yep. He could even take some lessons from you about using a mic inside vehicles. Something he still has not refined yet. But i do love his channel and yours.
I loved not hearing the voice overs of Doug’s videos
Quirks and features lol

The piston material you're talking about is hyperuetectic piston which is a cast aluminium with a high silicone content.
Thank you for the information! The source I got the data from referred to it as a Hydraulic Piston and spoke to it's forced induction compatibility properties. I'll admit I'm not a genuis on all this stuff when driving cars I know very little about the internals of. But I do my best and I hope you enjoyed the video!

dude your good at car reviews. i hope you get to make more.
I absolutely will! I have no shortage of cool cars to review. Just had a rough year in 2017 and things are finally starting to get back to normal a bit.
I'm with you guys! He is really good doing this type of content. Keep it up!
You're*
Most car pistons are hypereutectic rather than forged. Not hydraulic. :-)
this video looks amazing, i can't even imagine how much work went into it, hats off to you

Theres so much misinformation about who built the viper motor ... thank you for clearly it up
No cupholder?
Literally undriveable.
Agreed, I should just delete this video :P Or, get that hole saw and go to town on that dinner table between the seats.
This car was meant for the Track. The last thing need is to have coffee slipping in your lap on the track.
nothing like having searing hot coffee in your crotch to get you a movin and win that race =D
so there are no cup holders because the car was meant for the track but they put an ashtray in it? makes no sense
Dino Well, you got to have that last smoke before you end up in a huge fireball. After missing that Apex and tumbling the car ten times. Burst into flames. And goes off like a Nuke hit it.
Jerry with jeans on? Obviously it's a special occasion
Very special occasion, this is like Larry the Cable Guy wearing a Tuxedo honestly :D
A Canadian tuxedo :D
Oh yes Daddy DeMuro, show us your quirks and featu-... wait, wrong channel. Great video though, gotta love the sexual innuendos.
I much more long winded then Doug :D
Amazing, you really researched a lot for this video, great stuff! Learned a lot of new things!
This is better than Top Gear!
If it's the American Top Gear, I absolutely agree. The original British Top Gear was great fun. ;-D
the three brits are one of a kind yes. I truly love those slomo shots of the car and environment while getting the things explained.
My personal favorite video for you to date my friend!!! Thoroughly enjoyed it. THANKS, JERRY!
Welcome back Jerry!! Beautifully shot and very informative !
The key thing with it flipping backwards is for the accessory setting. If you noticed when you flipped it to the back the stereo stayed on. When you removed the key the stereo turned off. My 02 Sebring does the same thing.
The key turns all the back for accessory use. Allows you to have the radio on, windows will work, wipers, and 12 v Plug(aka cigarette lighter).
Nice, this video was a long time in the making. It turned out great.
Thanks, I'm super happy with it.
Amazing video Jerry a real CARGASM!!!!!!!!!! Outstanding filming! Quality Production!

Awesome video Jerry! Glad to see another Cargasm episode, and I hope you make more. Would love to see you do an in depth video on your STI as well!

"Your speed doesn't matter. Forward is forward."
Great video Jerry! Production quality is fantastic!
the key getting stuck is the auxiliary key function. it allows the radio and all the aux ports to work without the car being on.
love they way this video was shot and produced! Great to see the series back.
Hey! we've been hearing about this for so long glad to see you got this video out :D
Love you Barnacules!! it was very fun review. thanks for sharing
Really enjoyed this video! Good work Barnacules
Fall in love with car videos since this, before this I don't care even a little bit. Thank you throw me into another time wasting big hole, thank you man.
Thanks for that Jerry, awesome vid and car. The cinematography looked amazing!
The rear click on the ignition is just to turn on the interior electronics. That way you can run the radio at the drive-in, very pre-2000's.
Thank you Jerry for your hard work and honesty.
The key position all the way back was a pretty common feature for cars of that age and older. It something like accessory mode. Allows you to turn on your radio and perhaps other accessories of the car without turning it on.
We need more! also, you're so close to a million subs! Good luck, and I can't wait to see you hit that milestone!
Also the quality of the camera work is stunning in this video Jerry, your camera operator and editor/s are amazing, they really showed off this car at its absolute best.
Cargasm is fantastic, keep em coming!
THIS IS THE BEST!!! YOUR CAR REVIEWS ROCK!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH SUBBED FOR YEARS!!!
You're very welcome Bryson!
Can't get off the horse, have to keep driving!
What happened last time?
RE: Key position feature? Yes, it is a feature. It was very, very common on old cars. Finally a new video, and it's a car one. Love it!
The Viper was such a beautiful car. Cool video Jerry!
The ignition is supposed to turn backwards, it’s the “accessory mode” for early 90’s and early 2000 dodges. My 01 Dodge Ram has the same feature.
That V-10 started out as an iron-block truck engine....not, as you make it sound, a scratch-built Lambo
EXACTLY.. idk where ppl get their information from.. but dodge had this engine already..
Im1CrazyCow thanks for explaining, in too lazy.
All good !
Oh, thank you for that video. It really brought back memories! It's hard to believe that Viper is a 20 year old car. Still gorgeous!
You are hilarious, and the footage driving around at the end is so beautiful and professional!
This was my first dream car. Always loved the blue with the white stripes. I wish someday i could be as lucky as you to drive one of these monsters. Awesome video and beautiful shots of a legendary car. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to ep3
The key "problem" is a steering wheel lock feature on older cars. turn the key all the way back and turn the wheel until it clicks.
The "key all the way back" is a feature that Chrysler had since at least the '80s so that you can listen to the radio without powering the ignition system. I think the wipers also work in that mode. (I have worked at a CDJR dealership for over 20 years.)
the pedals are off set to the out side for the exhaust coming out the back and off set to the in side for the cars with side pipes
You just crashed your car a few weeks ago, and you're in a 1997 Viper?! 😱
Absolutely! You can't let fear control your life Cam. Get out there and live!
He crashed the volt. Not a viper
He also recorded this like half a year ago
Alex Lindsay was it really that long ago that he recorded it?
Cameron Jackson It was a slight exaggeration but he posted pics of him doing the video on Instagram at the start of October
Had a blast filming this CARGASM with you Jerry! Can’t wait to film episode 3!
Beautiful car and even more beautiful views along those roads. Great video. Thanks
Awesome vdeo sir. Thank you for creating and delivering such quality content.

Great video! Just wanted to point out that the vents over the wheel arches are actually extractors. They let warm air built up around the tires/brakes escape.
This car was one of my favorite cars growing up.
This is literally my favorite car! Ever since I started playing Grand Turismo 1!
Jerry the key going all the way back is a feature. That is the accessories position.
Super cool thumbnail bro! your friend's studio is great!!
Thank you! I love Epic-Exposure studio, one of the few places around here that you can shoot a car in a controlled light environment on a turntable that moves!
Jerry and Bruce. Good to see you guys are still hanging together after all these years! You should show off the epic van! DW
She is absolutely gorgeous. This is why the first gen GTS in this color combination is my dream car. I just want to drive it before I die
I have a custom Chevy smallblock that was rated at 300hp. It actually was closed to 400. Apparently a lot of manufacturers under rate the horsepower for insurance reasons.
Key back is a feature i guess... but its for accessory power on. Found in older vehicles
Hmm... When you turn the key all the way back you can run the radio and power windows without draining the batteries. The actual off position is always one click from the back. Most cars had that feature up until not too long ago...
It's pretty normal for the key to go back one click to turn the radio on for when your just chilling
Awesome video as usual 👍 we need more in the near future. I immediately got onto Forza and drove a viper after I watched this lol
I have a friend who's a mechanic. He told me a story once a guy towed on Viper to their shop (they specialized in racing cars) and the guy told them "make sure you open all windows and doors before you started". He put it on both

I wanna see a cargasm about the Tesla Roadster.
Trust me, I will make this happen.
I read Tesla toaster =]
No
i love the way you describe the scenery. wonderful cinematography .
Awesome review
It has a cupholder slot on the right side of the center console. They usually sell the cupholder with the car. That's if the owner kept up with it.
Washington native here. Seeing western Washington through a video reminded me how beautiful it is. Nice driving B roll tho. Beautiful scenery. Loved this video. Thanks for sharing!
Good to see you again. Drive it like you stole it!
Your cinematic shots are awesome! O.O
this is literally my dream car back in the day,.. hell even until now!! because of that Viper Tv series..
That key thing in the ignition in the same way in my family's '99 F150. Takes some getting used to. IIRC in that position it turns on the accessories.
"An engine with wheels attached to it" - I kind of get that feeling about my turbo diesel car when I accelerate. It is a wonderfully powerful little thing, yet gets good mileage and doesn't overheat when stopped. :p
awesome car, nice video have seen the preview on stream love it.
I love your videos. Keep it up bro!
