I cant wait for when this series goes long enough to have like 10 of these compilations. A grand kingdom in the making. Hopefully this series goes on and becomes more and more popular. A toast to you Solstin and to your future.
Thank you! :D Barring the unforeseen, I suspect 10 of these compilations isn't far off from what could likely happen! There'll definitely be more and less productive in-game years depending on what part of which projects we're working on at the time, but I hope by the end we'll have a nicely fleshed out castle town and docks full of beautiful decorated builds!
"i pulled a Grian!" That really made me happy. I learned building stuff with his tutorials like a decade ago. Happy to hear his name is still a thing. Also another great video giving me ideas for my own castle. :D
I still occasionally catch a video or two of his, his videos and BlueNerd were a couple major influences when I was learning different building techniques!
@@Solstin I thought i recognized it, when you set the logs one field out and gave the rooms visible beams, but didn't want to assume, just because there was a similarity. I just recently got the game after watching your 100 days long play. Didn’t even know about this game until the 1.20 trailer dropped a few months ago, so I have been watching vintage story gameplays like crazy. Your video has been my favorite with a wealth of knowledge for new players. Keep it up! I just started watching this video so keep up the awesome work! Your builds are really inspirational!
Welcome to the VS community! Glad you've been enjoying the series so far! :D There's a bunch of great knowledge among the community so don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
I only just learned about Vintage Story yesterday, and I found your account when browsing the game on youtube. I just spent the past 2 days watching both of your years at 2x speed. This was incredibly entertaining, and I am excited to see more of this world.
Well welcome to the channel! Glad you enjoyed what you've seen so far :) This coming year is going to be focused on finishing the workshop and a couple other partially-complete projects while continuing to work on the castle!

I was just rambling to myself, wondering when the next upload was so I had something to watch and uh. I guess you have provided a whole 8 and a half hours of something to watch.

Thank you for enjoying it! :D Think of it as an extended appetizer while the main courses of Eisenholm episode 23 and Rusy Gears episode 2 are getting finished up!
Heya! I wrote a comment a while back on your first 100 days video about me being in refuge, then homeless, struggling. That video really did get me through a lot of days, and I'm about to move somewhere safer with my partner who I met when I moved here after my the whole trouble. I'm excited to watch your little world again, to see what projects you take on, to see what you build, or discover. Thank you for providing me with motivation and cosiness in the worst time of my life -- I look forward to watching this for the next week, better off, and at the end of the week in a new, safer place -- getting to reflect on how much better things are. All the best to you, Solstin. Cheers!

I'm glad! There's always that moment of worry about uploading a compilation of videos people have already seen, but I'm always glad to see the warm reception for them! :)
Thank you so much for the incredible content you create-you are genuinely the best! I’m autistic and have ADHD, and Vintage Story has been a huge special interest of mine for quite some time. However, since the game is relatively niche, I’ve struggled to find others who share my enthusiasm or even much content to engage with. Discovering your channel has been an absolute delight! Your videos bring me so much joy and satisfy my need for Vintage Story content. I deeply appreciate the effort and passion you put into your work-it truly means the world to me :] :] :] ❤❤❤ Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you so much! As someone with (undiagnosed but very probable) ADHD, the granular details of VS have really drawn me in! I hope you continue to enjoy the series as it progresses!
I hope you enjoy this compilation as much as the first! I don't know how many in-game or even real-life years all of these projects will take, but I'm here for the long haul!
I've heard of vintage story, and thought it might be something cool to see, but this series introduced me to every little detail of the game, and good lord, the second I get 22 bucks I'm buying the game.
Absolutely worth the cost of admission! Especially with all of the new features and story that's just gotten introduced with 1.20, it's a great time to get started :)
@@SolstinI'm addicted to satisfactory as of now, and I'm just watching this video while making a factory. I didn't know I could make such intricate designs if I just sat there and stared at the flat floor for a bit. I've optimized one iron node about 12 times already, and I can make it faster. This video is the only thing keeping me sane while I build.
Hopefully clean up doesn't take the full 8.5 hours! XD I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and that the compilation helps add a bit of calm to the busy season!
The algorithm gods are pleased with this offering! This is the first of your videos I've been recommended, so I backtracked to the first hundred days and watched that and this over the past few days. Great stuff, I'm excited to see where this goes from here (as soon as I watch episode 23 later today).
Welcome to the channel, glad you've been enjoying the series so far! :D Episode 24 shouldn't be that long of a wait, so there'll be more to see pretty soon!

Just finished watching the first 100 days video, had to start this one straight after. Love the vids and cant wait to catch up with the series when I finish this one!
I'm glad you're enjoying the series so far! The upload schedule is pretty relaxed (kind of like the progress in the series lol), but I hope you'll continue to enjoy the series after you're caught up! 😃
1:04:00 oh my god. duh. this changes so much. i dont know how to use half of that mod's tools but THIS changes so much. thank you. this is genius lateral thinking. this might save hours from my builds
I hope the series can help scratch the itch then! :D If you ever find yourself with an extra $20, I highly recommend picking up a copy of Vintage Story. Definitely worthwhile!
Always a pleasure to get flashbacks of Escape from the city from Sonic Adventure 2. Not what I was expecting when I first sat down to watch 8 hours of better block game.
I can't count the hundreds if not thousands of hours I sunk into SA2:B between replaying levels and mostly focusing on the Chao Garden stuff! Probably too many all-nighters back in the mid 2000s 😆
@Solstin i feel you man, I actually ended up playing it again in steam a while back to see how well it held up. Those space levels are still a pain in the butt.
Not That Anyone Asked But: for the water sources in my garden plots, I use water-logged path blocks; just to avoid accidentally falling in because it annoys me
I like to chisel grates or hatches for that exact same reason lol When I get around to it, I might add little chiseled sprinklers as well just for decoration!
When i watched this video the first thought that came to me was. "We really need to be able to repair tools instead of making a new one EVERY single time it breaks." Imagine when you break a shovel you get back the head and its bent, you heat it up and add nuggets of the material the shovel is made to fix it up. Perhaps only needing like 2-5 nuggets to fix the edge of the tool.
also, 8... hours.... yup. Solstin really is the mad lad of VS. also, cant wait for the next vid from your time on RG! watched a few other creators about "day 1" lol. and someone.... gave a small sneak peak for future vids. all i can say is... wow.
There's been a whole ton of progress in a small amount of time on the RG server for sure! I can't wait to reveal a bit of what I've been working on next episode! :P
I don't fully understand what's going on under the hood, but that setup works better than going straight from the input! Smarter folks than myself may be able to explain exactly why lol
I'm just saying, if/when this comes to console, I'm probably switching to it. Having the chisel feature BUILT-IN to the game is genius, and MC should catch up.
It's a huge force multiplier for creativity, that's for sure. Combined with QPTech's chiseltools mod for decorative chests, shelves, etc, you can customize just about anything!
Thank you so much! I put a lot of care into each video, so I'm glad that shines through :) I have a feeling that Vintage Story is going to continue to rise in popularity, especially since it's starting to get noticed by some larger gaming journalists and channels!
vintage story is something special its derivitave of minecraft but it exceeds it in certain ways and has successfully found its own style and voice. i still favor minecraft in bredth but vintage story nails the style, cohesion of the blocks, and it focus on realism.. and of course the chisel. if it werent for the chisel and the advanced chiseling mod the creative ceiling in VS wouldbt be nearly as high. cant wait to see what modders can do especially since the development of this game is so focused on modding accessibility yeah as an avid youtube content consumer i think you have everything you need as a top tier creator. i could watch your vids start to finish no matter how long they are and not get bored or fatigued. thats really rare.
@@aa-tx7th Chiseling is what won me over almost instantly, with a lot of the realism aspects soon following. If it weren't for the immense customization from chiseling, I likely would have been drawn back to the allure of redstone, haha! And thank you one again, that really means a lot! :)
Dude, yes. Just yes. All of this, but more of this, but all of it too. Also, DO NOT PUT DISH SOAP IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE - unless you want a full-on bubble party, in which case, go crazy.
Glad you like the series! There's always more in the works! The speed changes week to week depending on other things going on in life, but the work always continues! :D Also, what if I want my clothes to shine like the sun? I have to put Dawn in there! The bubbles filling the entire room let me know it's working XD
TBH i enjoy your 100 days more then other peoples probably has a lot to do with the pace feeling a lot better and because i used to watch this guy who did a massive series with the colony mod in minecraft, also because you sound awesome
Thank you! I think Vintage Story lends itself well to keeping the pacing from being too fast, and in editing I try to make sure the pacing isn't too slow. I'm glad the balance is working for you! :)
Fun Fact! Dryads Saddle is actually edible! The only problem is that they’re only edible while young. Once they get big and leathery feeling and feel kinda like wood then they’re basically impossible to eat. Not that dryads saddle is exactly appetizing to begin with. Wooly Chanterelles on the other hand which look like Dryads Saddles when small will make you nauseous and give you vomiting and diarrhea.
It's pretty interesting just how many poisonous mushrooms there are that mimic the look of non-poisonous ones! I'd make a terrible forager irl, probably would end up avoiding every mushroom or mistakenly eating a bad one 😆
Hey ! Love this little series ,just FYI the bear keeps spawning because there might be grass blocks inside of your little pen there ! And thus kills your goats!
6:53:10 - I do, every new year's eve I set up a big ole straw man and burn it down at midnight, bringing plenty variety of snacks and alcohol/juice. Even my friends have joined my tradition when I did it on a server with them.
@@Solstin Usually on a lake/icy shore or island, I live in colder climates as well so it's not much of an issue. Just have to remember to stock up on grass before the snow sets in, otherwise you know well how painful that is.
I've been thinking about livestreaming some of the gameplay on the Rusty Gears server for some of the lengthier projects, so some multi-player live streams might just be coming soon!

I love this game. I just started to play. There are so many possible things. I wonder if you shall update to 20 r1, you so should. Have you seen the release footage? It came out yesterday.
I have seen the release trailer! I'm super excited :) I won't be updating to the rc versions, but after the full release for 1.20 is out, I'll be doing some testing and making sure all of the mods I'm using are up to date so it's a smooth and seamless process to get the world updated! :D
Solstin why dont you use the millwright mod so you dont have to hide the windmills and then you can build a pretty and functionig windmill for your blacksmith?
I might eventually for a visible windmill (like for the granary) but for the smithy I knew I wanted to keep all of the mechanical lines hidden away just to see what could be done using the vanilla windmills!

I hate to be the one to ruin 169 likes into 170, but I couldn't help it. I missed my "commence the timelapse ah~" man. Keep up the awesome work dude!
Haha thank you! That clip belongs on a soundboard, honestly! XD
@@Solstin Still my favorite soundboard clip! Even use it in my newest dnd game, it's honestly a tradition now xD
4:05:44 He said the thing!
I LOVE watching these compilations
Glad you're enjoying them! :D
I feel like they're more convenient than a playlist for having on in the background.
@Solstin agreed ! I end up losing track on the single episodes **shakes fist at youtube** so I love watching these at the end of every season !! 😁😁
Fanny and Fergus, the furnace twins!
Haha, love it! The doors aren't eyes, but separate mouths of twin furnaces lol
Right? We can carve some eyes for them out of some Bauxite perhaps?

oh my god. duh. this changes so much. i dont know how to use half of that mod's tools but THIS changes so much. thank you. this is genius lateral thinking. this might save hours from my builds
It's come in handy so much for speeding up test world designs, as well as bits of set building for the Ghosts short film!
Wow 8 hours. Like my Thanksgiving dinner, this video will take time to consume. :)
And likely have leftovers to continue across multiple days before eventually making soup with the rest 😆
Alright, just watched the first one in, like, two weeks. Now to consume this since I can't afford the game.
I'm living vicariously through you.
I hope the series can help scratch the itch then! :D
If you ever find yourself with an extra $20, I highly recommend picking up a copy of Vintage Story. Definitely worthwhile!
Your the reason I'm buying this game. I can't wait to get into it.
Nice! Watch out for open pits, and may your ore veins be ever bountiful! :D
Time to binge this when it's Saturday
It'll be familiar ground if you've been following along with the series, but I hope you enjoy it all bundled into one long video! :D
Oh man, I'm so excited
I hope you enjoy it, it's a pretty long one! XD
Not That Anyone Asked But: for the water sources in my garden plots, I use water-logged path blocks; just to avoid accidentally falling in because it annoys me
I like to chisel grates or hatches for that exact same reason lol
When I get around to it, I might add little chiseled sprinklers as well just for decoration!
When i watched this video the first thought that came to me was.
"We really need to be able to repair tools instead of making a new one EVERY single time it breaks."
Imagine when you break a shovel you get back the head and its bent, you heat it up and add nuggets of the material the shovel is made to fix it up. Perhaps only needing like 2-5 nuggets to fix the edge of the tool.
I think there's actually a mod for that! :D
also, 8... hours....
Your builds really inspire me when building in this game
Thanks! I hope going over the planning stages and how I approach a big project is helpful as well! :)
You are so underrated!!!!!
I'm just doing my best! :)
I was just getting started on year 2 and now it's all here for me! 😂
Nice! I hope you enjoy it all wrapped up nicely in a big ol' compilation! :)
6:50:57 how does that work!? High torque -> high speed x2 -> high torque would equal an output the same as the input.
I don't fully understand what's going on under the hood, but that setup works better than going straight from the input! Smarter folks than myself may be able to explain exactly why lol
these videos are the type of shit i want to see, hours of pure vintage story.
This works out well then, cause I want to keep on going with playing hours of pure Vintage Story! :P
Thanks and i love you
Thank you too! :D
I'm just saying, if/when this comes to console, I'm probably switching to it. Having the chisel feature BUILT-IN to the game is genius, and MC should catch up.
It's a huge force multiplier for creativity, that's for sure.
Combined with QPTech's chiseltools mod for decorative chests, shelves, etc, you can customize just about anything!
dude your voice and editing are top tier
you gonna blow up along with this game and probably will even if it dont
Thank you so much! I put a lot of care into each video, so I'm glad that shines through :)
I have a feeling that Vintage Story is going to continue to rise in popularity, especially since it's starting to get noticed by some larger gaming journalists and channels!
vintage story is something special
its derivitave of minecraft but it exceeds it in certain ways and has successfully found its own style and voice. i still favor minecraft in bredth but vintage story nails the style, cohesion of the blocks, and it focus on realism.. and of course the chisel. if it werent for the chisel and the advanced chiseling mod the creative ceiling in VS wouldbt be nearly as high.
cant wait to see what modders can do especially since the development of this game is so focused on modding accessibility
yeah as an avid youtube content consumer i think you have everything you need as a top tier creator. i could watch your vids start to finish no matter how long they are and not get bored or fatigued. thats really rare.
Also, what if I want my clothes to shine like the sun? I have to put Dawn in there! The bubbles filling the entire room let me know it's working XD
FINALLY! A SOLSTIN VID TO SLEEP TO!
And the beginning of the compilation playlist now that there's two of 'em!
have not seen kurazrh (forgot how to spell)
@@keidran6002 His Vintage Story Guide series, season 2 specifically, is how I learned a lot about the game :)
Muito bom seus vídeos
Thank you! :)
I'd make a terrible forager irl, probably would end up avoiding every mushroom or mistakenly eating a bad one 😆
you convinced me to buy the game man, this shit is awesomeeee
That's awesome! It's a great game, and I hope you have an amazing time!
@@Solstin its really fun! but so is marvel rivals lol thats been keeping me from it lollll
Love it
:D
What a soothing narrator voice
Thank you! :)
Yes i got my free time and its time to watch! One day they will localize the game and i will play it myself and die over and over!
Nice! I hope you enjoy the video and eventually the game itself! :D
at 3:44 it remind me of some kind of dialouge from Fallout new vegas. Allso i just stumbled across this channel and i already love this content.
Haha that 100% is a New Vegas dialogue box! 😆
Glad you're enjoying the videos!
Hey ! Love this little series ,just FYI the bear keeps spawning because there might be grass blocks inside of your little pen there ! And thus kills your goats!
Definitely was the case, but don't worry, that gets sorted out during this video! :)
The timestamp for the chest sorting for episode 19 has an extra hour then it needs. Figured I'd let you know. Great video BTW!
Thanks for catching that! I'll get on fixing the timestamp first chance I get!
Glad you're enjoying the video! :D
6:53:10 - I do, every new year's eve I set up a big ole straw man and burn it down at midnight, bringing plenty variety of snacks and alcohol/juice. Even my friends have joined my tradition when I did it on a server with them.
Nice! Hopefully this happens in an otherwise non-flammable environment! XD
@@Solstin Usually on a lake/icy shore or island, I live in colder climates as well so it's not much of an issue. Just have to remember to stock up on grass before the snow sets in, otherwise you know well how painful that is.
Always like to see live streams of multiplayer of this game
I've been thinking about livestreaming some of the gameplay on the Rusty Gears server for some of the lengthier projects, so some multi-player live streams might just be coming soon!
oh I just finished the year one video! 😭 Dang I'm lucky
Haha that's perfect timing, then! :D
Marking my spot for later 6:45:51
3:12:00 he missed a borax ore block under the brick he was standing on
Just means I have more to go back for if I ever need more :)
Hey Sol, thanks for all your hard work on these video, just wondering are there any plans for the teleporter you found? I really want to know where it takes you and how far😊 thanks again form NZ
Thank you too!
I know the TL near the dirt dugout goes to more of the same stone types we've already got around us, but I think I completely forgot to ever go back to that other TL! I'll have to make a little trip over to see where it goes soon!
@@Solstin awesome can't wait, thanks again for your videos

It absolutely was 😆
The sonic adventure 2 references that nobody get's are hilarious (that or i'm delusional)
I almost forgot about City Escape getting stuck in my head 😆

love u bro
Thanks! :D
I love this game. I just started to play. There are so many possible things. I wonder if you shall update to 20 r1, you so should. Have you seen the release footage? It came out yesterday.
I have seen the release trailer! I'm super excited :)
I won't be updating to the rc versions, but after the full release for 1.20 is out, I'll be doing some testing and making sure all of the mods I'm using are up to date so it's a smooth and seamless process to get the world updated! :D
Solstin why dont you use the millwright mod so you dont have to hide the windmills and then you can build a pretty and functionig windmill for your blacksmith?
I might eventually for a visible windmill (like for the granary) but for the smithy I knew I wanted to keep all of the mechanical lines hidden away just to see what could be done using the vanilla windmills!
cool video i subscribe to you right now.
Thank you! It's a long one for sure lol
