Curious what oil you've been running in it. If it is a lubrication issue with the crank, it would most certainly be catastrophic. Josh from CFT mentioned hydrolock due to prolonged injection periods due to wiring harness damage from factory zip ties too. How did your wiring harness look?

The hole is for draining anything that accumulates in the engine valley, ie, you pressure wash the engine. You'll see it goes down along the back of the block.
If it ends up being the crankshaft, would you look very closely at the torque converter and flex plate. Look for any bolts that have been dragged or distortion in the flex plate.

my crank snapped at 260k, wouldnt be surprised if you had the same issue.

They actually give quite a bit of room to get to everything

Put a 2.8R cummins into it

Those 5.0's were clearly not made to take extra ponies. seems to be a constant with turned up 5.0 Cummins.

Your asking all the same questions I did when my 5.0 let go last year. I went so far as to purchase a 5.9 common rail cummins and have it rebuilt before deciding it would be a monumental task to swap it and have all functionality and in cab appearance of an OEM vehicle. The easy part is the mechanical stuff, mounts, plumbing, transmission (yes you'll need a different one). The real challenge is that these are CAN bus vehicles and there is a lot of cross talk between the engine, trans and vehicle itself. Gone are the days of a wire for each function. Now there are two wires and they do everything. Next thing, your in to CAN bus emulators and the software involved to make everything speak the same language. Let me know if youd like some more details on the research I've done.
btw, my engine ended up spinning a couple of crank bearings and locked up solid.

Would definitely like some more of your research, you seem to have very much done your homework, if you want you can hmu of Facebook, under kevin bridges, my profile pic is the titan towing the 240sx

What kind of oil filter you got there is it the proper flow rate did you ever figure out why your main bearings heated up and failed?

      @kbridges5.0  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

The turbo went bad and sent a lot of oil into the intake. This is my guess for why it all failed, as fpr the oil filter I get them from z1 offroad I think it's just a cummins filter but I've heard it's important to get some upgraded ones, I'll have to start reading about it soon

Still watching the video so not sure if you figured it out later but the tiny whole is a drain line for anything that might accumulate in the engine valley to the back of the engine somewhere. They’re built like that.

are you sure you don't have a snapped crank?

Did your truck make the notorious engine squealing sound from the front center of the truck like a worn tensioner pulley? You could probably do some snoopin around while she’s apart….

Those "Barbs " as you called them are more than likely the connectors for the Glow Plugs. just rebuild or put another 5.0 Cummins in it, that seems like the easier method. ( imho).

Great video. My 2019 Titan 5.0 is in Nissan now getting the front timing belt cover replaced because it was leaking. 🤣 good luck brother!

I'm thinking it's a snapped crank shaft. Great video and thank you for taking us along

Awesome job man! Really glad you’re doing this!
Did you take a good look at the turbos? Were they leaking oil at all?
