    Perfect time for Nissan to sell tons of Titans during Toyota's catastrophic failure with the Tundra.

    I have a 2017 Xd with the cummins. 43K on it. EGR cooler started leaking a few days ago. Nissan replaced it and so far so good. 2200 bux but warranty covered it. I did find out that Nissan extended the warranty on the turbo actuator and the high pressure turbo up to 12/27 or 150K, That made me feel alot better about this truck for now. Love the truck but all the horror stories on here worry the shit outta me. Sux that Nissan is discontinuing the Titan. Was considering trading mine for a Pro4X with a gas engine. Can't wait to see the finished product on yours !!

    Nissan is messing up going in EV nobody wants one and they are worse on miles towing and the cold. Never will own EV. They shouldn’t never gave up on the 5.0 Cummins they should have updated motor🤷🏽‍♂️

    This absolutely sucks. My 1st Titan was a 2004 and I absolutely love Titan and have been loyal since DAY 1. I currently own a 2019 XD Cummings and have had a 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2016 and finally 2019. WTF #Nissan

      I'm on my fourth new Titan. 05, 10, 15 and most recently a month ago a 23 XD PR. Thank Nissan Corporation for the lack of marketing and advertisement for this platform. Along with our governments squeeze on emissions and mpgs for its demise. These trucks have always been underrated. Personally I can't say enough good about them. Sad they won't be available in the future.

    Nissan did a good thing coming out with a diesel engine for Titan and if Covid craziness would happen, Titan would have been a good option for many, including me if I was in the market for a full size pickup truck.

    XD with the Cummins was my dream truck. Bought a '19 new. I've been following the ISV since it was originally announced in '08. Writing tunes for it has become a labour of love since it's not profitable to tune for a truck with such low production numbers.
    You're still giving out bad information on these engines. Which is really sad considering the following you have. The injector sticking will not cause the crankshaft failure. It might contribute to it, but it is not the cause of failure.

    • @thecliffold5879
      @thecliffold5879 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then what is the main cause?

    • @NavySturmGewehr
      @NavySturmGewehr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thecliffold5879 I wish I had the answer to that, however I do have enough experience to know that the fuel injector leaking isn't going to hydrolock the engine while it's running.
      I have a few different theories but to be entirely fair, I can't prove any of them either.
      I agree that the injector sticking could contribute to the crankshaft failure, but it won't be the specific cause. Though if there was enough fuel washing down the cylinders and getting into the crankcase it could thin the oil too much...
      Looking at how the crankshaft failed in some pictures, it actually is starting to look like bearing clearance might have been too generous, or alternatively the radius they added to the journal might have helped elevate oil pressure to prevent too much deflection of the crankshaft. Most failures appear to have occurred at highway speeds, with load on the engine. The ISV is over square, so if there is low oil pressure or too generous of bearing clearance, the crankshaft could flex beyond specifications at low rpm.

      @@NavySturmGewehr good information, thank you for taking the time to give me your opinion. I still have my 16 XD PR with the Cummings and it has 115k, trying to take care of it as much as possible lol. Thanks again!!

      @@NavySturmGewehrI bet it was during the creation of the block or bearing for select few. There is an obvious difference in 2016 vs 2019’s with the failure. I haven’t even seen one 19 with the reported crank failure. 12ish reported on 16 models. Like one on 18, a few with 17’s.
      140k miles on my early model 17, I beat it on a +125hp tune on the daily, but I never tow. I also noticed it’s almost always when they are towing at 70mph.

    • @NavySturmGewehr
      @NavySturmGewehr ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oinchadoomandwolfboy If my memory serves me correctly, they added a radius to the bearing race on the crankshaft side. That might help raise the oil pressure. Your observation I've seen in a few different places. 70mph puts the engine around 1600rpm, maybe a bit more, so full torque is available, but it might not have enough oil pressure. With thinner oil, no radius and the last bearing being so far from the pump, maybe the torque hammers out the bearing, then oil pressure falls off and with no bearing the crankshaft is allowed to flex out of spec and splits in two. Another theory I know, but it fits the currently available evidence better than my other theories.
