Aloha Foodie Ohana! We had some technical difficulties on the first uploads of this video😅 Here is the correct version! Big Mahalo to everyone who let us know something was wrong with both the uploads from today! If you're watching this for the 3rd time, WE LOVE YOU FOREVER❤🙌🏼
The ramen competition is so fierce in Tokyo that almost any random shop you pick will be cheap and amazingly good - the variety of styles is unmatched there. You could do a whole VLOG series just on that (an idea for a future Japan trip). I was totally addicted in the 5 years that I lived there - my tummy was happy, but my waistline, not so much.
Get out!! Super excited to share in your adventures in Japan. I’ve always been interested in Japanese culture and their way of living. Have a great trip!
If your staying in Narita city, walk from the train station toward the Naritisan Temple. You will find tons of Japanese restaurants. One in particular is Kawatoya Narita 386 Nakamachi, Narita, Chiba. They specialize in Unagi. They fillet the Unagi on the spot and then cook on hot coals. A must see… my wife and I are regular visitors to Japan.
Yeaaahhhh…Japan!!! Lets gooooooo 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼 LOL…the bloopers are too funny. Hows the side eye Felix? She only took 1 bite 😳….. 😂. I been ono for some crunchy deep fried seafood…and you said it wasn’t oily, so I know I’ll love it. Adding to my list. I went Japan in 1976. So much fun. Love the people and the food. Looking forward to that trip!!
This vlog showed up on my homepage today. Interesting fact... since you did this episode, Ululani and Wagyukushi have both opened up in the Times Supermarket area off of Kaahumanu in the Pearl City/Waimalu/Aiea area. Lucky me, don't have to drive into town now to try these eats.
Congrats on your plans to go to Japan! You will be amazed and will find so many beautiful places to visit. I used to live in Tokyo, but I'd recommend going to Nara and Kyoto as well as places outside of metropolitan areas. It will be easy to get around via their incredible train and bus systems. Can you understand and/or speak Japanese? You've probably already missed cherry blossom time for 2023, but maybe you can plan to go next spring or go for the Fall colors later this year. Not the same, but still beautiful.
Have fun in Japan! Wait … if you are seeing Sakura then you must already be there, yeah? The season is in full effect right now. How does this place compare to Shimazu? Waaaay better? Or just a bit better?
You guys are awesome! We were by the wagyu place a couple of weeks ago but they were sold out. My wife wanted to go back, so maybe more we'll definitely make the trip. Congrats on the upcoming trip. My wife and I'm are thinking of going there in October with she friends from the mainland. So, with definitely be looking forward to your vlog. I loved when Felix got scared by the bird and also when he got the giggles. :)
Japan will be so wonderful to explore, looking forward to your videos. If you guys like roller coasters check out Fuji-Q Highland, which is only a short train ride from Tokyo, where you can ride some of the most extreme roller coasters in the world with Mt. Fuji in view. The food at the park cafe was surprisingly good, too! All the food in Japan is so delicious, honestly. Can't wait to go back someday, hopefully soon. Itadakimasu!
What's your guys take on Teddy's Bigger Burgers...Go/No Go? Maybe you guys can do "Top 5 Best Local Burger Places"...IMO...My personal fave is Kua Aina burgers...
Hi Amanda and Felix just got Hawaii. Was looking for a place for good smoked meats. Alicia’s is closed and the forty NINER is closing at 3. Any suggestions?
Happy Weekend Foodie Ohana! Have you tried that Teddy’s Bigger Burger? I love Amanda’s subtle hints. What brand of rice do you personally buy and use? I like how Felix didn’t know what to do with his “rogue” salad. He was afraid and yelped when he lost one of the fried pieces but was thinking of throwing out the fallen piece of salad. That wagyu on a stick looked amazing! I agree that not ALL shave ice is created EQUAL. So excited for your Japanese adventure! I can’t wait. Love you guys! 🤙🏽🍧🥩🐟🇯🇵🌴
Wow! What cities in Japan are you visiting? I would highly suggest Kamakura........about an hour away from Tokyo. Wonderful shops. Great food. Beautiful temples and shrines. Kamakura was the Capitol for a short period so have to visit a few temples.
Aloha kakahiaka. When you go to Japan, you have to try some katsumeshi in the city of Kakogawa. My dream is to visit Japan so perhaps one day, I will. Mahalo nui from a guy originally from Pauoa.
You guys could do a food on a stick series. We have a new place here in Tucson that sells Korean Hot Dogs on a stick for $6-8 each. That is quit a pony trick to sell here, the land of $5 Sonoran Hotdog..
Now in 4K...... Yay !!! Wow, BIG NEWS about the Japan trip Brah. Being Kama'aina's, you know about Japanese foods already but you're going to experience a whole other level there. Really, really looking forward to your travel videos from the land of the Rising Sun. Please consider including the trip report of your flights to and from Japan also and any tips and suggestions / advice for those of us planning a return trip to Japan post Covid. Another great mouth watering local style Bento video. Mahalo and Kanpai. 🍻
Wowee🎉 So excited for you guys So many ono (oeeshi) foods in Japan. Looking forward to seeing your video coverage there. The food all looks great...esp the new shave ice. Cannot wait to go back to Hawaii😊
Wow, that wagyu place looks interesting...will definitely have to check it out. As well as that bento and shave ice place -- haven't had shave ice for ages! I love Japan and can't wait to visit there again. Loved Hokkaido -- went from onsen to onsen, enjoying the amazing seafood, ramen, and ice cream! Very excited for your trip, and looking forward to "tagging along" you guys there! 🤩
Hi Amanda & Felix…..I’m so excited you’re going to Japan!! I loved your vlogs in Seattle and Vancouver (I’m a Vancouverite) so really looking forward to visiting Japan with you two. I’ve been to Japan but many many years ago. I enjoyed Osaka and loved Kyoto’s serenity, beautiful gardens and temples. I laughed with you when you got the giggles Felix….too funny. Take good care 😊🇨🇦🇯🇵⛩🎏
OK, I'm a shave ice expert and next time in Hawaii I'll have to try Ululani's! 😂 So far overall best is Wailua shave ice on Kauai. Best softest ice is Waiola. If you are going to see the Cherry blossoms you must be there already? Unless you are going to Hokkaido? Good travels!✈⛩
Yes I just returned from Japan. Beware the immigration. We flew to Haneda late March and registered 2 days before departure at WebJapan. Haneda airport immigration took two hours and we missed our connecting flight to Fukuoka. I hope you have better luck with immigration than we did. Fukuoka and seeing the cherry blossoms were amazing! I had a great time but caught Covid in Japan coming home. Be careful at the airport. Keep your mask on.
I am from Maui and a big fan of Ululaniʻs so take my advice and, "Do yourself a favor 😉" and get the MANGO flavor. It obviously goes great with li hing and other fruit flavors but I usually get all mango 😋👍. If you know you know! 😂

Get out!! Super excited to share in your adventures in Japan. I’ve always been interested in Japanese culture and their way of living. Have a great trip!

Just got back from Tokyo. Tsukiji outer market has awesome food stalls but make sure you go early in the morning. The earlier the better. Have fun!
My sis is in Hawaii visiting and I sent her to Ululani’s and she agrees! Softest shave ice ever! 9 out of 10!
Woo woo! TabiEats Collab again? Have fun. Was just there during peak blossoms and it was amazing!
Great news! So excited! Looking forward to Japan!
We're excited to share everything! 🙏🤙
