I just made these after not finding a place that sells these near me and OMG…. The easiest and delicious bread ….. this was my first attempt at making bread ever!!! I added a tray of water to the oven while baking and it helped with a crunchy outside but kept it fluffy inside ❤ muito obrigado 🫶🏽

I made the buns today. They came out amazing. I wish I could share a pic. I did everything the same, the yeast etc. the only difference was I put everything in my bread machine on the dough setting and finished them in the oven once they rose. My yeast doubled in size in the beginning but my dough wouldn’t double in size at all afterwards. I kept it in a warm place inside my oven and I followed all the steps 😢should the dough been mixed longer than 5 minutes? I did it for 5 minutes like you said but my dough was extremelyyyy sticky and still took it out the bowl like that..not sure if this is where I went wrong

Hi Shirley, if you want to freeze the paposecos, you can. Place them in a bag once they are cooled and place in the freezer. To thaw, place them on your counter or table in the bag, and let them thaw. Thank you🥰

And is this authentic Portuguese bread or a Portuguese style version ? I see different authentic Portuguese bread recipe from yours version. Thank you.
You can knead it until the dough comes together and forms a consistency, wherein the dough is slightly sticky. I haven't made this recipe by kneading it by it hand, however, you can. It may take 5- 10 minutes by hand. This is a portuguese bread recipe. Thank you😊
Is it possible to do this without a stand mixer? I’ve successfully made other Portuguese staples like Caldo Verde and Pasteis de Nata, but Pap seco is the next one I’m wanting to try
Hi Eric... Yes you can definitely make the paposeco dough without a stand mixer. It will take longer to knead and bring the dough together if you are kneading with your hands. Happy baking. Enjoy😊
Hi Lidia. If you are kneading the dough by hand, it's a matter a bringing the dough together until the flour is well combined and comes to together to form the dough. It will be a sticky consistency, which is normal. Use a large bowl to combine all the ingredients. Thank you😊
