I know the sound mixing is really bad, specifically the audience laughter. Ironically this is because it was a really nice microphone that didn't mic up much ambient sound. So when I'm editing it's tricky to turn up only the audience reaction sounds without making my voice too loud. Anyway, probably more info than you wanted to know, but just in case you were wondering why the laughter sounds weird...
"The Levelator" is good at making all the sound the same level (and it's free!). Good for interviews too where one speaker's volume is lower than the other speaker's, and you don't want to manually select all their parts in the audio one by one. The Levelator does it all automatically (export to wav, drop wav on levelator, paste resulting fixed wav back into your video editing program, done).
There's only one audio file; I don't have a separate one from the audience. Are you saying the Levelator will normalize volume across multiple audio tracks (which I don't have) or that it will pick out times when the ambient noise (in this case audience laughter) should be turned up in between the sounds from my voice?
JoshSundquist yes. save the original audio with the loud - soft - loud - louder -soft random/alternating bits, run it through levelator and the output is 1 single file with everything at the same volume (it adds or subtracts as needed to get everything at a consistent output level). then you can just replace the original crap audio with the leveled out one and export the video with the good sound. big time saver :)
This reminds me so much of my conversations with my boyfriend. He's paraplegic and there have been times that I completely space out and it slips my mind for a minute. "Hey babe can you kick that over here real quick?" *accidently bumps his leg/foot* "oop sorry hun you okay?" At one point I accidently bumped his leg and without skipping a beat he looks me dead in the eye and goes, "OW! MY LEG!!!" and we both died laughing. 😂😂😂😂

Could've been executed better. Or maybe not. I'm not really sure of the extent of your ability to do physical gags. Either way, if I'm being COMPLETELY honest, it was kinda meh.
