Underrated parts of this sketch: 1. Ryan looking around trying to see who Kenan was talking about. 2. Kenan knowing all of the B&B lore. 3. Mikey tapping Longfellow.
@@clvrswineYeah, _underrated_ became a way of saying “I want to highlight to the audience that I like a thing” years ago, and it’s only kept getting more cliche as time passes.

This is literally one of my all time favorite all time snl skits. Everyone I show it to laughs so hard. Makes me laugh again seeing them laugh. And I still laugh. Please pass this on
This will go down in history as one of the all-time best, and most extreme character breaks of all time. Look for it in every single "SNL cast members breaking character" compilation from now on.
I’m tired of SNL and all their character breaking. A lot of it seems forced to get extra laughs. It’s very unprofessional and annoying! Most of the time SNL is not funny so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are encouraged to “break.” There are exceptions of course like with Heidi and this sketch where it’s justifiable, but again, this happens way too often.
@@MisterWub 100% it is well known from way back the most popular SNL skits always involve the cast breaking character. The producers aim for it. David Spade that was his main schtick. Jimmy Fallon made this his whole career. If its even remotely funny, someone will break character. Makes the audience laugh more.
Although not the star of this sketch, Keenan continues to prove why he has been on SNL so long. Keenan can make a simple face, or a squint of the eye that has real comedic value. I hope he sticks around for season 50
I'm sure it didn't help that it was Mikey Day. I feel like theyve acted opposite so many times during their SNL history that she just couldn't handle seeing him like that. Usually a sketch breaking down is frowned upon but when everyone is having this much fun its hard not to love it. Gosling seems to break constantly but seems like such a fun Host that no one cares.
Breaking character is not frowned upon. Lorne actually like labor when it happens. If it was frowned upon, weekend update wouldn’t be a thing because Che and Jost literally break with every headline
When these people break character it is because they are caught off guard. it was clear that Heidi wasn't aware of what they were going to do or how they were going to look... She was going in blind... It isn't bad actor or "the formula"... it means that it was so funny that even the people that do this for a living... Found it so hilarious...
Some of the non-verbal actions are what make this sketch work so well. Kenan's eye squint as he first sees Gosling as Beavis is low key hilarious. Gosling's choice to look around confused after Kenan notices him kept the laughs coming. The best however was Mikey making his eyes even wider when Heidi looks back and makes her probably lose it even more.
she actually had seen the makeup, exactly as seen in the skit, beforehand. In an interview afterwards, she said the look you describe that Mikey gave her is what made her lose it.
I keep coming back to this video. I LOL. EVERY. TIME. Her attempt to cover him up with her hand to regain composure is so sweet, and ultimately...totally ineffective. The makeup team deserves a raise...this shit's going down in history.

@@nickfury6434 to be fair, Beavis and Butt-Head probably like more than two bands. 😂
@@nickfury6434 prob didn't feel like paying royalties

honestly the costume and makeup people deserve so much credit for this.
I concur. Makeup department rocked B&B!
So great❤
Yes PROPS!
It’s crazy how Heidi losing it just makes the sketch all that much better.
It's always better when someone legit breaks. It's weird, you don't NEED it, but it's laugh validation.
That's not crazy at all.
No idiots it fks the skit up
@@chadwindham2979 no it doesn't.
@@chadwindham2979 Look, someone we are all really happy to not be around!
Heidi breaking character when she sees Butt Head is the funniest part of this video! 🤣 The make up / costume folks really hit the mark on this one too! 👏 Bravo!!!
Whoever wrote this sketch deserves a raise, it was actually 100% hilarious!
Streeter Seidell and Mikey Day (who played Butt-Head). They are a really great writing team.
This wasn’t funny at all 🤦🏽♂️
The sketch itself wasn't hilarious, Heidi breaking was.
@@JohnnyDelcoSucks to suck Johnny.
i felt it was only 98%
Mikey's "Butthead" was 100 % accurate. This is definitely Emmy caliber costume design.
The laugh was on point, a huh huh huh...
Yeah, no doubt! I mean, poor Heidi didn’t stand a chance when she looked over her shoulder to address him for the first time. Lol😂 I would’ve been a complete mess if I were in her shoes.😂
If Mikey doesn't win an Emmy, we riot😂
@@danielgo3898 Almost certainly because I'm guessing you're not an improv actor. She borderline ruins the sketch. If they purposefully set her up to break like this, that's one thing, but when you break that often and for that long, you take the attention away the bit.
@@gregchavez1534 she never (or rarely) breaks!
Underrated parts of this sketch:
1. Ryan looking around trying to see who Kenan was talking about.
2. Kenan knowing all of the B&B lore.
3. Mikey tapping Longfellow.
You have a firm grasp of the obvious. So insightful.
Please, please, lose "underrated" from the collection of words you know. It's been done. It's time to move on and join the adults.
Also allowed Ryan to show his profile and the prosthetic Beavis schnoz!
@@clvrswineYeah, _underrated_ became a way of saying “I want to highlight to the audience that I like a thing” years ago, and it’s only kept getting more cliche as time passes.
Nothing about it was funny
Congratulations Ryan Gosling on the Emmy nomination! You guys did an amazing job 👏
“I’ve heard rumblings…” idk why but that delivery was so hilarious 😂
Because he was trying his best not to laugh while failing miserably lol Laughter can be more contagious than the flu
Seriously that line absolutely killed us 😂
I thought so too 😭😭😆
Butthead suppressing his laughter while gosling delivers his line should be illegal, his face is so funny😂
The extras in this sketch deserve a recognition. Because they were so professional and so in their character, they managed to mantain a straight face the whole time👏👏👏
Legit 🔥
Me too. Does that make me "so professional."
you could see some of them straining I felt for them in that moment LOL
They were probably added with AI
@@alphanerd7221 you're staying in character? Very professional.
Of all of the amazing stuff here, the best is the MIT professor knowing everything about Beavis and Butthead.
I mean... Someone like Neil Degrasse Tyson would 😆
I work with MIT professors daily as an admin. They DEFINITELY know them. Remember 50-year-old researchers/scientists are Gen X. 😂😂
They were not sexy, they did not go to parties
Yea so I’m a 50 year old former professor and still quote from them, so yea that checks out. 😂😂😂
"He eat the sugar and become Cornholio."
Biggest question is why anyone would want to watch a "SNL cast members breaking character" video.
@@voldemort008 because those videos are hilarious
Gosling is the best guest. The way he can never keep his shit together just kills me and makes everything so much funnier lol
i think so too. ilove when they crack
He was breaking and acting unprofessionally, what are you talking about?
@@FungusMossGnosisah yes I also watch Beavis and Butthead for the “professionalism”
"He eat the sugar and become Cornholio." 😂
NOW SEE THAT’S JUST SOMEBODY TROLLING!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That sent this sketch over the top for me!
TV for my bunghole!
No matter how many times I see this it just hits with me. Huge Beavis and Butthead fan and to see SNL bring it back to life...
Although not the star of this sketch, Keenan continues to prove why he has been on SNL so long. Keenan can make a simple face, or a squint of the eye that has real comedic value. I hope he sticks around for season 50
Keenan is a genius, I remember him from All That on Nickelodeon when I was a kid. He can get a laugh with a lift of an eyebrow.
He is incredibly good

Heidi breaking character in this sketch will go down as one of the greatest in SNL history
She was not ready for that tucked up lip.
SNL almost sorta remotely got funny-ish again for 5 minutes. Imagine that.
@@funone8716 oh wow someone complaining about SNL not being "as funny" anymore on an SNL video. so original.
Breaking character is not frowned upon. Lorne actually like labor when it happens. If it was frowned upon, weekend update wouldn’t be a thing because Che and Jost literally break with every headline
3:07 "Sir.."
Famous last word
I LOVE it when they break character laughing!!!!
Heidi's reaction when she saw Butt-Head is pure gold! Lol
@XianS2019 Exactly. The present culture asks for, and expects, nothing more.
You gotta be a bot cuz this is trash
It’s staged honey
U love bad acting? Or contrived bad acting?
When these people break character it is because they are caught off guard. it was clear that Heidi wasn't aware of what they were going to do or how they were going to look... She was going in blind...
It isn't bad actor or "the formula"... it means that it was so funny that even the people that do this for a living... Found it so hilarious...
I have never seen Heidi break like that😂😂😂 3:08
I'm guessing that was her first time actually seeing their makeup.
Me either .......wow. lorne is gonna hate her laughing like that
Nah. It was gold. The audience went wild.

How Kenan Thompson keeps a straight face while other cast members are cracking up is a miracle. And the Extras kept complete composure was unreal
Kenan is an anchor, bro. Dude has arguably the most experience with sketch comedy in the world. Nearly his whole life. He’s a pro.
The way he peered at Beavis at first.😄
@@esseen100Yeah his initial squint really does it for me.
Kenan is epic as the straight man in any roles he's done.
Could say he was aaall that
Some of the non-verbal actions are what make this sketch work so well. Kenan's eye squint as he first sees Gosling as Beavis is low key hilarious. Gosling's choice to look around confused after Kenan notices him kept the laughs coming. The best however was Mikey making his eyes even wider when Heidi looks back and makes her probably lose it even more.
the funny thing is it looked like Mikey was trying to make Heidi break.
she actually had seen the makeup, exactly as seen in the skit, beforehand. In an interview afterwards, she said the look you describe that Mikey gave her is what made her lose it.
Thought Mikey's hand gesture to Michael Longfellow was the winner.
I keep coming back to this video. I LOL. EVERY. TIME. Her attempt to cover him up with her hand to regain composure is so sweet, and ultimately...totally ineffective. The makeup team deserves a raise...this shit's going down in history.
Much funnier when Carol Burnett did it. Or even when Jimmy Fallon copied her. Breaking character is such an old bit now, just unprofessional.

Kenan uses his eyes and mouth expressions really well in his comedy. His Deion Sanders last year was absolutely amazing because of his facial control

Bill Hader is infamous for it though lol
Hahaha word as soon as Keenan squinted like is that Beavis hahah😂 I knew it was gone be hilarious 😂
I'm a simple man with humor like this. For me, the thing that put me in tears is just Ryan Gosling looking around in the background when they mention "Beevis" acting completely oblivious to the fact they're clearly talking about him. Simple, subtle physical comedy will always get me 😂

Maybe in one of those "funny name news disaster" skits. They always reference shows and movies anyway. That would be amazing if they're like the Matt Schatt-style normal guy only weird by happenstance things.
