Around the time inbetween the years 5 and 10, I would have dreams that felt exactly like this game. It was surreal, being out in these absolutely huge rooms and buildings, making me feel miniscule. It all felt like a giant "station" of some sort and they had mesmerized me so much as a child that I still remember them to this day.
This game just gave me flashbacks of those dreams. It gives me the same feeling and i'm not sure what to say about this.

Man, this game kinda feels like some alternate universe where the "Arts For Transit" art pieces throughout the NYC Subway have come to life and are taking over, anybody know what I mean? Like those murals you see in the stations, and the illustrations you sometimes see next to the ads inside the subway cars. The fact that the service notice at the beginning is an MTA bulletin and the torn-up ticket is for Metro-North just drive that feeling home for me. Or maybe I just take off-peak trains in and out of NYC too often, as does this game's creator, evidently. Still, really frickin rad shit right here. I love this.

@@SantaFishes101 I’m not from New York so my opinion might be invalid but I’ve seen some stuff similar to what Dhar has stated from various videos and such, downtown Santa Ana in SoCal has some art similar as-well scattered around the area too it’s pretty sick

I like this one a lot. The more urban jazzy chill vibe compared to other games in the bizarre walking simulator genre really sets this one apart.
This was Vinesauce's peak, and Cosmo D sucessfully made games an art form with this masterpiece of a series.

This was amazing to watch for me, the soundtrack in this game is my type of thing, I love it. In addition you play games in such a natural way I really appreciate it because you don't put on a fake persona to get more attention, when you say the things you say whether they're considered intelligent or not it's really YOU we are listening to and there's not many entertainers on TH-cam that gain a popularity by being themselves but you do and you are working hard to please the masses at the same time which is incredible. I don't want to be too soppy but thank you Vinny for everything you've done it will never go unappreciated.
there's a lot of youtubers who get attention by being themselves. It's just that the "top" ones don't.
And then there's the fact that most of them start off with this geniune feel and then somewhere along the line develop this.... fakeness... Whether it's to cater to their audience (Pewdiepie, etc.) or to be ever-so-slightly more kid-friendly (Yogscast, often going as far as cutting jokes that are too "mature" for the younger audience.)
And you forget... Vinny is a Streamer before he is a TH-camr. :P

Nedoxu The Yogscast barely ever does that. There's shittier things they do. Like successfully raise money to make a game but then never make the game. Or the fact they can't handle money at all, since a (now obviously ex-)staff member once stole charity money.
Ezekiel King the money was more than made up for with free games. Honestly if they did finish that game it would've probably been kinda shitty, from what I saw of it.

Finally found this stream again. I’m on the hunt for certain old streams. I love this one.
I emailed the artists that made the game/music, and they said they'll eventually be releasing the soundtrack on all major retail platforms such as iTunes and Spotify. That's about all I got from them though. Can't wait!

Im 20 now but when I was 15 this game made me design my entire room like the station. I bought wall posters, had floor mats and tapestries hanging, fuck I even bought a humpback whale sculpture to hang on my ceiling. Literally my entire child - teenhood was obsessed with the feelings this game gave me, I am now married and when I first asked that girl out, I was listening to archi pelago play Mortified by faith. (the song in the station)
When I look back on it now, I'm sad that it doesn't give me the same feelings as it used to but it is now just a memory of happiness and a completely new experience that made the world interesting and vibrant again, I sometimes miss that essence that I once had as a kid, the optimism and creativity. Anyways enough of my rambling, I loved the game and purchased Norwood suite as well as joined Cosmo D on his discord page. TLDR game had a huge impact on my life and brought me to where I am today.
Jesus, I'm there too. Almost five years and I remember watching this stream live my freshman year. Time flies.

Revisiting because the Devs put another game out. Just wanna show my appreciation to Vin for taking a chance on just, random shit. For these Devs, making whatever the hell they really wanted to, through their own unique and very interesting means.
Honestly with the mundane nature of video games in current year, I'll hate the day games like this fly under the radar for good. Hylics, Off Peak, Bernband, Toilet in Wonderland, Goblet Grotto, Crypt Worlds, Space Funeral. So many games with so many oddities, all of which I would have never seen without binyot. And the Devs who put their passion forward, regardless of what it was.
Man...I still come back to this video just to experience this amazing playthrough. What an experience this was watching live. I can't even believe it's been 7 years. I'm a freaking Dad now with a house and everything. Lol Vinny thanks for all the great moments over the years!

YouLookPrettyGood It's MP3 files in a zip file. It's scary clicking links but as long as you check that it's an actual zip file, it's not really possible to get a virus like that, but if there's a more trustworthy way of uploading them I'd be happy to.
Also if you want to look for music similar to this, at least the bass-heavy tracks, there are a few underground House labels releasing similar stuff right now. Archie Pelago definitely has a pretty unique sound however, jazzier than most and incorporates a lot of live instrumentation including strings. Maybe check out artists like Anthony Naples, Christopher Rau, Moonmin, Traumprinz, John Roberts, and labels like Mister Saturday Night (released some of Archie Pelago's stuff) or Smallville.

Running around new locations in hsr kept reminding me of something, and now I'm back here rewatching this 9 years old video. It's amazing how just an indie game captivated my brain so much I'm unconsciously reminded of it while playing another game dream world with same vibes.
Just want to take a moment to acknowledge the fact that some indie game developers were cool enough to include the album art of Brian Eno's Ambient 3 w/ Laraaji which is still one of the most hypnotic beautiful things I've ever heard AND one of Terje Rypdal's ECM releases, Whenever I Seem to be Far Away which is trippy Norwegian space jazz (@ 7 mins).

cosmoddd Just wanted to say I love the different stylistic choices you made with this. Very chaotic, but in a good way, and it adds to the surreal feel of the game. The introduction pier, train outdoor train yard, and entryway were a nice art deco (my favorite), and the underground and computer server-looking areas were also extremely awesome. Are those hidden hi-tech hallways supposed to have any specific meaning?
VincentOroscoe The primary purpose for those hallways was to provide more navigation options for the player as they moved through the space. Thematically, I wanted the player to feel like there was more going on technologically with this train station than initially met the eye.
cosmoddd Out of curiosity, what was the intended purpose for the creation of this game?

This seems to be the new evolution of what I think vinny called the "Egg-Genre" type of games. After the first, numerous people tried to imitate it and failed, but this one has succeeded tremendously. Hoping to see more of these "Open-world explore and collect-a-thon" type of games on Vinesauce.

also the fact that this game is free, made by one person with no budget and is this good, is amazing. Some people pass it off as poorly executed, but it kinda uses that to its advantage instead of thinking its not. again, this amount of care and dedication put into this game is still incredible

I think I've figured out some of the mystery behind this game. I think the developers assumed the players would go for many replays, which is why Luke greets you knowing your destination.
It's not that you pass through here and go to Rowayton often, it's that you never get to Rowayton and you come back to try often.
He says he had a train ticket ready to go, but that he's not going anywhere. The fact that you come here every time and find him here likely means he never decided to go, he likely got the ticket and ripped it up, dropping it around the station, for you to find, every time you come here.
Has Vinny played any other games like this? This is my favorite video, I'd love to see another one like it.

For those of you interested in the game's music (and if you want to curb the craving until the official OST is released), you can easily rip the tracks yourself: Download Unity Assets Explorer ( forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10085 ) and open up the "sharedassets0.assets" file in the game's data folder. Be sure to sort by file-type (as there are a rather large number of textures, objects, and animations to sort through), then you can scroll down and look at all of the game's .ogg files as one section of the list, making it easy to extract them :)
