    I found some sparkly silver-blue medaka near me in the US and I was pumped! They were outrageously expensive and hard to find online. I have them in a cystal vase with loads of plants. When I can I stick it in an open window for direct sun, they start breeding so I think they like it. Thanks again for your videos, never would've known these guys existed without them!

    You mentioned prices for the rice fish. I just bought 6 Medaka (golden rice fish) and it cost me £5.99 each total of £35.94 or ¥5924.40 a tad more expensive in the UK. I noticed bizarrely the blue daisy was cheaper and the store was a lot cheaper than online stores offer and this is a shame, I was actually at my mothers home when we saw them as I was setting up and remodelling her ponds and patio. Issue is mum lives 140 miles away from where I live in South West London.

    Hi: You can use the 2-3 day method to dechlorinate if your water has only chlorine in it. However it’s common now for many municipalities to use chloramine which does not dissipate like chlorine and you need a chemical dechlorinator to get rid of it.

    I just started keeping medaka for the first time this year. The climate is more extreme where I live. Winters are cold enough that ponds will freeze solid. So I have to bring my ricefish indoors.
    In regards to higher temperatures - during the summer, my ricefish tolerated the higher temperatures, but if the water temperature was above 78F/25C, the eggs would fungus before the fry could hatch. Next summer, I plan to set up the outdoor ricefish pond in a more shaded area.

    I've been wondering about getting this fish for awhile. I can't find any info on whether or not it would be wise to keep them in my guppy fry tank.

    • @Cgraseck
      @Cgraseck 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep them with guppies without any problems. They are not aggressive. I have not kept them with long tailed guppies though. I still would not expect them to be fin nippers.
      Cheers,
      Chris

    What kind of plant is that?

    Do you have to have filters and air pumps in the bottom of those ceramic planters? And how big do those pots have to be?

    • @RyoWatanabee
      @RyoWatanabee  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They can be any size you want. The bigger, the better as smaller size tends to get dirty quicker. Ricefish don’t require filter and air pumps :)

    Great looking fish. I have been tempted to do a small outdoor pond on my deck with them. Only concern is the summer it gets over 100 degrees in Texas.
