      Great Ponds! I stared with and now I have 5 here in Fukuoka.
      I make random videos about it from time to time!

    My rice fish all died within a few days of getting them :( I got some cheap himedaka and that might have been why? They were in a normal tank and maybe just aren't meant for outdoors. They were like 45 yen a piece I think so I less than $.50. My plants got some fertilizer and I was sad :( I still have the pond and the typhoon that's currently blowing over us here in Okinawa is wrecking the plants!

    I love these rice fish ponds! You inspired me to make my own this spring and it is thriving. Unable to get the rice fish, so I have rosy minnows with water lettuce floating and other tall plants in and around my 18 inch tall and 16 inch wide pot. I am not sure if I will leave them out over winter because it will freeze on top. Do you feed them in the winter when there is no ice on top?

      White Clouds are an excellent alternative to Ricefish if you have a hard time finding Ricefish. I adore having the Gold White Clouds outside in tub ponds. So easy to see, active, hardy. I've got both, plus Guppies and Platies, out in my tub pond this year. 😊

    • @ReneesZooTube
      @ReneesZooTube 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@---nw9qu I live in Southern California, so basically no freezing. So my White Clouds and Ricefish stay out year round. The Guppies and Platies need to come in in the Fall. I've heard of people leaving White Clouds and Ricefish out during the winter and they do fine even with icing over. Just try to make sure a hole is left for oxygen exchange. I personally follow the koi/goldfish pond feeding recommendations of no feeding once the water is 55°F or below.

    Hey Ryo. You've definitely inspired me to set up my own Rice Fish pond. Now I have 3, lol. The largest one the fish share with dwarf cherry red shrimp. Loving It. Thanks for the awesome videos. What is the name of the plants you spoke of at the 8:50 mark in this video?

    Hello may i ask if do you change the water in the pond?
    We have a medaka In a small aquarium my husband puts a lot of weeds and After two days some of them died and the following day another died we decided to remove all the weeds because only then we thought maybe they dont like weeds, fortunately the few survives they are now very healthy what we do is we change the water in aquarium once a week and feed them, and just recently we bought a water hyacinth and place them inside the aquarium.
    New subscriber here i want to learn on how is the proper care for medaka.

    Hi Ryo! I discovered you and ricefish at the beginning of the epidemic. Now I have beautiful pots in my garden. Your rice fish videos are my favorites because we get to see just regular life. Thank you for inviting us along.

    I like your medaka videos the most, very unique information!
    I know the domestication of these fishes has great history. I always wonder what people were feeding these fishes in the past, before modern granule fish food? If you need to feed them something from the kitchen, what that would be?

    Hi Ryo! Just found your channel and loving the content. Just wondering, what happen to those Rice Fish during winter? Do they hibernate? Do you have to put a pond heater? I want to set up a patio pond at my tiny house but we are approaching winter in few months so I'm just wondering if it is still okay to put fish in the pond?
