    • @kylereese4822

      You do realise the rear was damaged from hitting the rear hitch with 3 tonnes of weight and again in a few seconds... and the ford broke it`s drive shaft just getting off the tow truck...

    • @gpaje
      @gpaje 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +17

      @@kylereese4822 You mean the Ford was dropped off the flat bed, literally having all that weight being put on the front drive shaft. Which by the way doesn't prevent it from being driven since it's then a 2WD at that point, and cheap and easy to fix a front shaft. The Cybertruck rear damage isn't going to be as easy to fix. Also, the Cybertruck didn't stop running because of the rear end damage, it lost because it didn't actually work anymore at the end, while the Ford was still drivable.

      It's still not a fair fight. If a 180lb fighter fights a 240lb fighter, and the 180lb fighter wins, that doesn't make the fight fair. No matter who wins, it's still $100k vs $40k.

    • @gpaje
      @gpaje 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @jacket5456 there's no way that F-150 had a new price of $40,000.

    • @jacket5456
      @jacket5456 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @gpaje yeah probably much less, making it even less fair to begin with. I wanted it compared to a truck of closer price. If you're of the mindset of "If the underdog wins, then it's fair to begin with" I hope you never work in a court lmao Edit: Well the F150 is only an underdog so far as the price

    It will tow the rated weight no problem. The issue is that cast aluminum holding the whole back end on can’t stand up to abuse like a steel frame can. It probably cracked when the back end fell onto the concrete culvert. No bueno. Even though you likely won’t drop the back end like that, I could see the stress from repeatedly towing causing cracks and eventually ending up like this anyway.

    • @randgrithr7387
      @randgrithr7387 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      There's a reason why aluminum aircraft frames have a pressurization cycle rating. Steel has an endurance limit, below which you can stress it an unlimited amount of times without it becoming metal fatigued. Aluminum does not have this limit. Any stress weakens it a tiny bit.

      Nope this is an actual issue. There is no real backbone which has made this extremely dangerous. Thankfully majority of people that buys this truck don't actually do any sort of hauling or else we'd be seeing more cases of this. There have already been cases where this has happened to people and it's honestly extremely alarming. I pray a family doesn't get killed due to this poor engineering some day.

    16:19 There is at least one company that has a battery swap system. You drive into a kiosk, and it takes the whole battery out of the bottom of the car and puts a fresh one in. I doubt hydrogen will ever be mainstream due to how difficult it is to store without leaking. I'm sure it will find niche use where it will be the best option, though.

    When he drove the Tesla truck off of the sewer pipes the back of the 8,000 lb truck dropped down onto the hitch. Even though it's rated for 11000 lb trailers, the actual max hitch weight is only about one thousand pounds... He overloaded the hitch point by about 5000 to 7000 lb. The problem is that the Tesla frame is made of aluminum which tends to crack more than bend... The hitch should always be mounted to steel which is more flexible and tends to bend more than crack. The Cyber truck is a toy for rich people. ✌️😎👍

    His new follow up video is really good also. There’s already been Cyber truck trailer hitches shear off while pulling trailers. Even micro fractures that you might not be able to see in aluminum can cause lead to complete structural failures. Vibrations, bumps and potholes are going to 💀💀💀 these Cyber truck frames for things like towing. Might be ok for a while. But over time,l? And especially when you take in factors like extreme temperature fluctuations like the States are known for.
    The f-150 is an aluminum body on a steel frame vs steel body panels on an aluminum Cyber Truck frame. Try he weakest point can not be your foundation. Plus aluminum can only be welded to aluminum. Steel and aluminum only have a couple ways of being fixed to each other. Screws and bolts or some type of glue.

    A Cyber truck battery pack that WILL eventually need to be replaced is MASSIVE and weighs 1,600 pounds. A Ford F-150 coyote V8 weighs around 450 pounds. A decently mechanical person can change out the entire engine of the Ford fairly easily, by themselves over 2-3 weekends. The same person is NOT doing that with those massive batteries.
    I’ve replaced multiple engines and custom built engines myself, by myself. Pulled and replaced engines and had vehicles up and driving again in the same day, by myself.
    NOTA possible with EV’s for the vast majority of those owners.
    A software update is equivalent to a tune-up of a regular car. Also NOT possible for the EV owners.

So they're clearly pretty good work trucks, but the vast majority of them are certainly just being bought by people who will use them as a normal driving car. But, if we are being honest and fair, the vast majority of people who buy normal trucks don't really ever use them as a truck and just use them as a normal driver on the road and just because they like how it looks and sounds.

      also my father has a ford ranger from 2000 and still runs like new, has rust and all due to living in North America where it snows also has over 240,000 miles all repairs done to the truck were less then $1,000 mostly exhaust breaks due to rust that's about 150-300 once every 2-3 years to replace over all if it wasn't for the rust letting water into the cab we wouldn't be shopping for a new truck but plan is to run this truck till engine gives out. and let it retire its done landscaping with my dad for the last 24 years.

      The just did the same drop with the F-150 over and over, the frame bent in the middle but the hitch never came off. Also earlier this week there was a Cybertruck that had its hitch ripped off while towing a trailer and hitting a pothole, for sure seems to be a massive design fault.

    • @hackaboom
      @hackaboom 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@NorwayVFX i saw that. im not defending the cyber truck by any means with this. clearly what they have going on is too brittle for safe towing. i would be curious to see if its just as unsafe with shock loads from the top...iono either way seems like a brittle mess. ive dealt with alot of issues like this with designs and personally would have picked a different different set of materials . I havent seen pictures that show any real value from either of the bumper breaks but I have a feeling they both had hard shocks. (enough to cause cracks) either way need more data, preferably untainted.

    It's likely lowering when he's going fast (or it's being revved high) for safety reasons. The lower the vehicle the lower the center of gravity to stabilize it. The engineers certainly didn't design the vehicle to go through mud or off a ramp at 80mph. Very un-American of them. 😏

    Yeah so the reason the tow hitch broke off on the cybertruck is it has a tongue weight of only 1,100lbs. Tongue weight is the amount of vertical energy that can be exerted on the tow hitch. So it has a tow weight of 11k lbs but because he tried to put over 1100lbs of vertical pressure on it, it snapped. For reference the Ford f350 has a tongue weight of about 600lbs

    If you guys decide to move here, you move first study the political and weather climate of each state. You have to choose your battles. For example in Texas it's illegal to hunt game on a tract of land that's 10 acres or less. WTF? And it's too damn hot most of the time. Here in North Carolina (as long as your outside city limits) you can shoot a deer off your back porch no matter how small your property is during hunting season of course. Texas also has a screwed up power situation so if you move there you'd better have a backup plan. Not saying Texas sucks, It's just not for everybody. My rating for places I could live for country living is #1 North Carolina. #2 Tennessee, #3 Virginia, #4 Arkansas #5 Kentucky, #6 Texas. Each of these states have some of the best landscapes ever and man you could escape the world real quick finding a piece of land in the hills. I have my own small slice of paradise a few miles from the Roanoke River. Wouldn't you love to never have to eat fish or red meat out of the store ever again? I don't even buy my meat. I get it free!

    To be fair midern diesel has come so far, the only reason manufacturers dont make many 'peppier' trucks is for longevity and probably something to do with a regulation 😅 I only mention diesel to compare truck to truck. Plus much more efficient than peteol IMO.
    Dont see why they cant fit proper self driving to IC vehicles. I feel that would wipe out many of the benefits to electric, but saying that you defeat the purpose of getting away from big brother controlling your car. Battery manufacturing is and will always will be more harmful than IC 🤷 Plus you add the fact you need to always be mindful of how you travel and make sure there is a charger nearby

    I mean, they did crash the whole hitch back thing like 4 times, one falling from those manhole covers straight into a cinder block, you can't expect it to work fine after that. the hitch in like any truck would've be sheared right off. the only reason why it didn't break in the f150 was because it never got there. Cybertruck is still trash tho
