Not sure if you knew this yet, but this win, plus the fact that GB scored a bunch of runs in their losses, gives them an automatic spot in the 2026 tournament. Hopefully that will help with gaining some support.

This win was the thing that put them into 2026, since the first tiebreaker was head-to-head

Colombia is fairly decent at the sport. Congrats on the win. Its heavily played along the coast of Colombia, though football is still their main sport. Being around the carribean, and with Venezuela as their neighbor (who's #1 sport is baseball), baseball is fairly common in the country, and they have players throughout the major leagues. A Colombian league team won the Carribean Series last year in 2022. The carribean series being like a sort of champions league style tournament among the carribean countries.

Switch hitter means he can bat in both ways, right and left. Thats very helpful because he can bat with the right position against a left-handed pitcher and that is a great advantage, and when a right-handed pitcher comes out, he can switch to the left position. He always have a batting position advantage. It's easier bat being lefty against a right throwing person, you can see better type of pitches like a SLIDER (is a pitch that spin in horizontal or almost horizontal). So if its a battle between right against right handed pitcher and the pitcher throwning a SLIDER, the movement of the ball go away from the batter so its difficult to hit that, but if its a left hitter against a right pitcher the ball movement go closer to the hitter. Like I said, its very helpful but also very difficult to do, cmon is like write with the right and left hand. Thats advance knowledge of the game right there haha.
EDIT: It's like a switch hit of cricket but the difference is that the switch hitter have to stay all the appearance at bat in the position he put on the box. Meanwhile in cricket you can change the switch in the middle of the hit.

According to the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings, Great Britain was #24 going into the tournament and Colombia was #11. 18 of the top 20 in the WBSC rankings were in this tournament with #18 Germany and #19 Spain not making it, and Great Britain and China being there instead. Most of team Germany is actually from the German domestic league, that has had a few players make it to the majors in the not too distant past, while team Spain is more of a "guys from the Carribean with a Spanish parent who couldn't make their own country's team" kind of team. Canada was #14, Mexico #5, and the US #3. While a few of team GB's players had been in the majors at some point, with pitcher Vance Worley having more MLB experience than the rest of the team combined, Ian Gibaut, the pitcher in this game who recorded the final six outs (who is apparently the son of a former member of Jersey's cricket team) and outfielder Trayce Thompson, who hit the home run against the United States to give Great Britain a brief lead are the only two expected to be in the majors this year. Well, maybe if Harry Ford tears up the minors like he did this tournament, the Mariners might call him up to the big leagues.
As for Colombia's team, they have a lot of what people call AAAA players, i.e. players who are really great in AAA but not that great in the majors, like Dilson Herrera and Jorge Alfaro, who in the not too distant past were considered among the best prospects in the minors but never adjusted well to major league pitching. Manager Jolbert Cabrera, as well as his brothers Orlando and Asdrubal Cabrera, all had fairly long MLB careers as middle infielders. Well, I guess that one of their pitchers, Julio Teheran has had a pretty good major league career, and that third baseman Giovanny Urshela plays well in the majors when he's healthy. One of the international baseball TH-cam channels had pointed out before this tournament that there's a narrow strip of Colombia along the Carribean coast where baseball is popular, especially around their third largest city of Baranquilla, but in the rest of the country, soccer is way more popular.

A pinch hitter is a hitter who replaces another. For example, pinch hitters often replace other hitters if the pitcher is left handed and the original hitter is also left handed. The pinch hitter would then be right handed.

just about every team does some kind of hand celebration toward there dugout for getting a hit, for Great Briton its the sipping of the tea. For homers most teams will have some kind of celebration and GB's crown and robe is pretty cool in my opinion. When you choose your team to root for this MLB season they will most likely have a hand gesture celebration for a hit and some kind of dugout celebration for a homer, and it changes every year.

Sponsorships on shirts: Starting this year MLB teams will have a sponsor patch on the sleeve. Lots of people hate it. But if it helps teams sign better players its worth it.
I find it funny that you hate the cup of tea celebration. It is a stereotype but every British person I have met all love tea.
A switch hitter is a hitter that can hit both left handed and right handed.
Pinch hitting is someone who is not in the lineup. They will "pinch hit" for someone. I think it comes from the phrase "in a pinch" or at short notice if you will.
Sad that Britain did not report on it. With this win they qualify for the 2026 WBC as well so this win was huge.
You look when you realized you won is priceless! 😂

We generally do like tea, it's just no-one drinks it like that! my problem really as the team are bonding and having a joke together which is far more important!
I really wish the media over here would report on baseball, in a very short while I've learnt to love it and I'm sure it would get a big following here if it was promoted, a commenter on another video said the BBC are going to cover the games in London in June so maybe, just maybe it'll start to take off over here.

Regarding sponsorship in Baseball, in international play, sponsors generally do not have much space, being relegated to one sleeve and a small part of the helmet, and for club play, it’s uncommon for most teams to have sponsors on their uniforms, and if they do, it’s on the sleeve (as MLB has permitted for the first time), or it’s the team owner (that’s more of an Asian tradition)

If it's any consolation, no news media here cover cricket either -- but, it's starting to become available in small, infrequent doses to U.S. audiences due to streaming. I've seen parts of a couple of N.Z. matches including the end of their 1-run test match win against England (sorry).

Dude stop it, I am an American and my wife is from Ispwich, England. I played both American football and baseball in England. There are American football, basketball, hockey and baseball leagues in England. I don't know why English people are so unsupporting of their National teams. Great Britain's baseball played baseball well enough to qualify for the World Baseball Classic. Just them making it the tournament should let Great Britain know that they have some baseball talent in the UK.

I’ll give my opinion on why the WBC isn’t bigger in Britain, even if their team is in for the first time:
      1. Baseball is probably as popular as Cricket is here (ask an American what is Cricket and their answer will be a green bug)
      2. Game time isn’t helpful
      3. Majority of GB players are Bahama-Americans or Americans
      4. WCB isn’t even a big deal in the states. The finals had better ratings and was promoted more but March Madness tops the sports ratings
