I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. Brings back some nostalgic vibes of the mine series. These grand build sagas are great and I look forward to each new installment.

I just wish Cody would make it bigger. First, set up a lot of solar panels on the surface (they're not that expensive) and store the energy in lead batteries. Second, move the tanks underground to keep the plants alive in winter (else, they'll freeze to death!). Third, install electric lights, ventilation and water pumps (Cody could work together with German TH-camr "GreatScott" on that, he's really good at electronics!). Fourth, insert sensors to get actual readings for your project. At last, insert soil, the plants, and record the data. That would be a *real* Mars base with actual scientific data being produced! I think the coolest thing about it would be that it'd resemble a real mars base.

That is Cody doing the burn. Robocody is operating the camera and doing the commentary.
This really is one of the few things that I drop everything to watch when it comes out.

Cody, you're one of the few youtubers where I click immediately on the video when I see it. I really appreciate the amount of effort that you put into these! 😊
Alternate idea Cody, use the brush and sticks to create hugelculture mounds. 1 pile sticks plus brush into preferred shape. 2 cover with 4 to 6 inches dirt. 3 plant seeds. Minimum mounds will absorb more moisture than the ground and keep area greener than surroundings.

Like any good mad scientist, Cody set his creation loose to wander the countryside unattended and set things on fire.
I liked the effect you did with the audio of the brush fire still going when you changed angles, to make it seem real-time (8:26). If I might make a recommendation, it would've helped with the effect if you had changed the directionality of the audio to sound like it was coming more from the left, so that it sounded like it was coming from its source, if that makes sense. Here, when the shovel hits the ground, it sounds a little weird because it sounds like it's coming from dead ahead when, from our perspective, it should be coming more from the right. I'm not sure how hard that would be to do in practice, I only have a vague understanding of stereo channels, but it could be worth looking at. Hope that made sense. Love this series! It's cool seeing you try new effects and working on your editing!

This is by far one of the most interesting and coolest projects I´ve ever seen.

I would have rolled the tank up an incline to get it into place. Put down 2 or 3 boards as ramps. Then tie a couple of ropes to the top of the apparatus that will hold the tank. Lay the ropes out in the direction of the ramps and enough farther that you can roll the tank over the ropes at the bottom of the ramp. Then toss the ropes over the tank and pull it up from the other side. Rolling up the incline is much easier than sliding up it. And the tank itself acts like a pulley, reducing the force needed to roll it up. Even a robocody poorly adapted to cold should be able to accomplish that.
Materially, I am in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Spiritually, I am at Chicken Hole Base.

As a rehearsal for Mars I think that setting time limits away from base or a vehicle consistent with a reasonable portable air supply should be considered.
Looking forward to seeing the tunnels being started. Tunnelling is something I've always loved doing, but unfortunately, not such ambitious plans as Cody has.

Hey Cody! Have you thought about trying out some primitive/off-grid construction techniques while you're building by yourself? Like, you can use a "flip-flop winch" to put the tank on that frame. It might be worth researching and trying out some techniques while you're building on "Mars".

Cody, use Silky Saws. They're excellent, best I've seen by far, and they might send you a bunch of them to show on the videos like they've done with other TH-camrs with far less subs.

For the brush fires, you should make yourself a beater.. A heavy duty pole with about 6 2" wide 3' long strips of heavy canvas tied to one end with wire.. You soak it in a bucket of water ideally but using it dry still works.. And you won't even need to reprogram RoboCody as it's the same action to use it as RC was using with the shovel..

Excellent work with RoboCody programming in the fire suppression algorithm. Must've taken ages to get that just right. The tank looks great by the way, the base is really coming together nicely already.
They better pick you to be one of the first astronauts on a mars mission!

If you go to a junk yard, get a few seat belts and unwrap them from their mechanism, you could use them to sling under the tank from leg to leg, that way, the weight of the tanks is both supported and holding the legs "glued" to the tank. Each of those supports can hold its weight just dandy, but it can't maintain itself in position against weight pushing them out. And car seat belts are strong as heck + are rated to sit in the sun for decades before the sun reduces them.
7:13 I love, how he adds little image errors so it appears as if Robo Cody was just a cutting effect. Nice way to keep away suspicious people who could not want him to create a high end AI android or a clone of himself, that would provoke too much attention.

@k1w1 it's literally a random channel. Right now he is building an artificial moon base. Some times he does metal refining. Sometimes it's planting trees. Sometimes digging a mine shaft. Sometimes making explosives. It's all over the place but generally has something to do with science.

Northern Colorado Rocketry has purpose-built fire slappers (or fire flappers) made from handles attached to a couple of pieces of carpet each. Very useful for stopping incipient grass fires. (They normally launch at an old missile site in the Pawnee Grasslands, so that kind of preparedness is essential.)
