I didn't know the trip wizard showed up on CarPlay. I'm glad about that, just took it on a test run and it will take some getting use to. It's not as detailed as the maps app that shows stop signs, traffic lights etc. I plan on using it on my next RV trip, just wish the navigation was better.

Camera in one hand, steering wheel in the other. All while commenting on your content. May be we all do this to some extent but it takes guts to publish it on TH-cam!

You can import the trip to the Garmin. I’m on my first time trying this, and haven’t decided yet if I like doing that as well as putting where i’m going each day.

I learned how from a TH-cam video. You have to use Garmin Basecamp.

Enjoy your videos! I love my Garmin 895. I also use RV Trip Wizard to build my trips. What dash cam are you using and how do you like it?

If you want to download your RVTrip Wizard trip, here are the steps. I will put out a video to show this being done.
1.Create the route in RV LIFE Trip Wizard.
2.Download Trip created in RV LIFE Trip Wizard as a .gpx file > Wrench icon > Download to GPS > Select GPX format
(The trip will download to the "Downloads" folder with the same name as was in RV LIFE Trip Wizard).
3.Start Base Camp and set the filter button (at bottom of the screen) to display "Tracks". Files transfer as Tracks, not Routes
4.Highlight the folder you want the just created file to reside in.
5.Select File and Import File to: "file you highlighted previously" see above.
6.Navigate to the file (trip) you want to download located in the computer's "Downloads" folder. It will have the extension .gpx. Select the file (trip) from the dropdown box and select Open. Note: Each leg of the trip will be imported into Base Camp as a separate Track with a different name; generally the new name will include the start and end points of each leg.
7.Tracks must be converted to routes before they can be transferred to the GPS.( Make sure the filters are set to show Tracks).
8.Select a just downloaded track and make it active.
9.Double-click on the track. A pop-up box will display. Click on the “Create Route” icon at the bottom of the pop-up box. It takes a few seconds to create the route.
10.Make sure the filters are set to show “Routes” Rename the Route by making the Route active > right-click on the route > rename
11.Convert each Track to a Route as above until all Tracks (Legs) are converted to Routes.
12.Each route can now be exported to the Garmin device.

Hi can you help me? I need to add a stop to an already saved trip on my Garmin RV 890 from trip wizard and I haven't figured out how to. Thanks

    • @rvweekenders7262
      @rvweekenders7262  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

That is an easy one, Add the stop at the end of your trip, Then On the left side of the item there are some dots, if you hover over the dots with your mouse, you will see the cursor change to a cross, click the left mouse button and hold it down while moving that entry where you want it.

@@rvweekenders7262 I know how to do that on my computer but when it's on the Garmin, there doesn't seem to be a way to add to an already saved trip.

Here is the response from RV Life
This requires a couple of steps so buckle up and we will walk through it together. Once you have the process down, it will be easy to do and you will be making it happen.
1.With the RV Life app open select the Trips button in the bottom center of the app screen.
      2. Select the trip you wish to modify from the list that appears. These are trips you created on your PC through the Trip Wizard platform. Typically, the trip you're looking to add to is in your Active trip folder as compared to Tentative or Archive.
      3. Once you've selected the trip the next screen will have the name of the trip, trip details, a Download Trip button and just to the right a "pencil" icon. Tap the pencil icon. This actually takes you into Trip Wizard through your browser. At the bottom of the screen you will see "Trip, Map, Research, Account."
      4. Select "Trip" which provides you the stop details associated to that Trip. Enter the location you wish to add in the search window at the top of your screen and select the magnifying glass which will desplay your search results. Select the location you wish to add.
      5. Next, tap the "Map" button at the bottom of the screen which will then show you the pop up related to that stop as you would see it on your PC using Trip Wizard.
      6. Tap the "Add to Trip" button, select the location for the stop to be added (Add this Stop After) and once the location is selected then tap "Add to your trip."
      7. Go back into the RV Life App and reopen the trip you just added the stop to and the stop will appear in the location you selected. You can then navigate to that stop accordingly.

Trip Wizard is our central platform for planning trips which is why the App interfaces with Trip Wizard on your phone/tablet. However, we do not recommend that you try to create multi-stop trips just using the RV Life app.
      I hope this helps

Do you know if this works on Android Auto?

    • @rvweekenders7262
      @rvweekenders7262  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I will check for sure, as long as you use the RVTripwizard app on your phone it should work.

Looks like they are working on it. I asked RV Life and here is the reply
      Not quite yet, soon.

Android Auto will be beginning a staged beta soon with RVL staff invited to the beta first, then users identified as interested second, and finally a small, more public offering at iRV2. You'll see info being posted about this in the coming days.
