As a bonus, these properties are an easy walk to 3 of Chiang Mais best and very affordable gyms-Muscular Lair, Go Gym, and Hug Gym. If you are ever in need of a vlog idea, I think a tour of these and other Chiang Mai gyms would be a popular subject. I don’t think any other vloggers have done this, to my knowledge.
Great video Wayne. Always refreshing to see the real Thailand and options available for travellers on a budget. Keep pushing the great content my friend! You have certainly inspired me
Awesome budget accommodation there Wayne. Not a problem staying at any of them for those prices. My mate is venturing to Chiang Mai mid next year. I'll encourage him to watch this one. He actually mentioned seeing your video re Depression last week. Nice to see TH-cam putting your video on his main home page. That proves that you are getting some exposure which is excellent news. Cheers Wayne 🤩
Thanks for another engaging and informative video, Wayne 👍 The view of the brick stupa from the balcony at the second place was impressive. The room looked ok as well. If they catered for people visiting for a month at a time, I'd certainly consider it as a bit of a change from Nimman. Great you showed where the soi was in relation to Chuang Puak Road. I knew at once where you were...I'm always grateful to have that pedestrian flyover when the road gets too busy to cross comfortably lol
I was staying on Viangbua Rd just 100 meters south of your walkabout. It is a nice little area. There is Siri Wattana market nearby. A cheap place for local Thai meals. I loved it.
Brilliant Wayne! Great tip you don't find other places. I like these shotgun accommodation videos, and if Thailand opens up for 90day visa on arrival, it might be possible to bounce back between Chiang Mai and Malaysia, and maybe down to Perth for a break from the heat.
Nice one Wayne. First place is an absolute standout. Cant complain for that price. The second place was an arsh full... then there was the room. 😉 Take it easy
7:14 spotted a nice squirrel or whatever wee critter it is just jumping off the powerline onto the 4 storey building opposite. Ahhh bless. It's amazing what value those rooms are. Makes me think that making a move there will totally be affordable for £1000 per month or less. Thanks Wayne
Probably a squirrel, they run along the lines all the time. One of the line exploded one day, because of the squirrel, we found him on the floor looking like toast. We had no electric for 2 hours . Yes, it’s still amazing how cheap it is here. Can find some right deals. Thanks mate.
I've been here 6 yrs, for £1k you can live well, if you don't hit the booze and girls you can stay here for about £400 (not including visas) if you are careful and cook at home/ eat budget meals and don't hit the pricey restaurants
Hello, I have a condo in the area you were today.. heaps of accomodation in the area... almost impossible to know everywhere but, there are some great bargains and as you said.. very close to the old city.. cheers.
Thanks for sharing! 25000 for a room? You can rent a fully furnished 1-2 bedroom condo for 6-13000 Bath or a fully furnished 3-4 bedroom house in the outskirt of the city for 15-25000 Bath a month! But that first room was a gem for the price despite the basic standard. I could easily stay there for a 6-12 months just to save up some money for a descent motorbike or small car. Or just to have enough money to travel around and have the room as a home base. There's always an option! 😊
wow such a personable dude showing us noobs the way to stay in chiang mai on a tight budget ,i lived in many places in the us and philippines that were not as good as your showing here ,if you have a roof over your head a small space to cook and sleep and play on your laptop (hows the wifi situation in these places ?)do you need install ur own or is some come with free wifi .
Yes, this place would be ideal for someone on a budget. I think wifi was included with this place. It's pot luck how good the wifi will be though. Thanks.
Santitam is close to the tourist spots and it's cheap, I'm surprised that there's no falangs there, maybe there is but when I walked around I didn't see any.
Nice places you found and can well understand the cheap price when i saw near temple hope you have good earplugs...ive lived next to a temple and i consider myself a very heavy sleeper (slept through an earthquake) and yeah 😔it would raise the dead from their slumber....
I live next to temple aswell, for years. Nothing major, few roosters in the morning, but I like that. No problems living next to a temple. Never far from a temple in Chiang Mai. Cheers.
@@WalkAboutWayne ah mine was in Taiwan different traditions i guess as twice a week 6 am extremely loud excruciating pipes music. (think bagpipes but worse)
I have question Sir , I'm gonna back to thailand soon but always I've been in bkk , this time I'm on budget so this kind of price like $80 , $90 is absolutely affordable. Do u think it's easy to find this kind of room if i change my destination from bkk to chiang mai ? I'll be greatful if you advise me on this
Hey Wayne , is there a minimum rental period ? For these places . Are they advertised or must you do walkabout to find them ? Normally visit in June July and would assume lower prices?
The first one I showed was month to month, but things can change at any time. Prices would be even lower at that time, yes. You won't find many of these places listed, just walk around the area and you'll find many. Thanks
Thanks that’s great . I intend to visit next year again and view it from a retirement perspective. I can’t wait until you review the burning 🔥 season . To get perspectives on that . Still looking at Hua hin and 27km north is Cha Am and Pran Buri to the south . Some good places over there . Would be nice to find somewhere like ilfracombe in north Devon with nice views and tasty treats !
Basic is the key word here, Wayne. Folks have to remember that no one does basic better than Thailand. Was half expecting to see the Artful Dodger and Oliver Twist pop out. One thing for sure is that you are not going to live the princely life for three thousand baht a month.
Won't pay that much for a studio, but I may stay at that hotel one night just so I can sit down and wash my nuts! Maybe soap the seat up and slide around to wash my butt while I'm at it.😅
I was in Tha-nin market last week, not far from those places. It's great that you show what value can be had in Chiang Mai. There used to be a good computer centre on the corner of the super highway near there.
Ya some of those are quite cheap, maybe around $50-$75 if you speak Thai. No plans on going to Thailand until they go back to 90 days. Don’t think that will happen though until the war ends. They are trying to control the number of budget travelers from Far East Europe.
Someone here on a budget for a month or 2. Jeez loads of people staying in worse than this . I agree the first room is a bit shabby but nothing wrong with the second .
@@WalkAboutWayne it's a short-time room where the locals service their mistress lol (you know, you see it all over Thailand), not picking holes, I'm an avid follower of your channel.
Thank you! please do show more of budget stays. Much appreciated!
Will do!

Nice one mate! This area is great for cheap rooms, so many to look at in these sois also. Not to far from town and the market near Santitham. 👍
That was a marvelous video! Thank you, Wayne.
Thank you buddy.
I got a room in Santitham for 2000 a month, I use it every time I visit the city because my house is out in the nature 25 min from the city.
Nice! Yes, I've seen rooms for as low as 1000. It's crazy what you can still find in Thailand.
I stayed at Gampanggham hotel last week for the first time. About Aud $35 incld breakfast aircon fridge and pool. Great staff. Highly rec.
Nice Phil, not a bad deal mate 👍

Yeah, good budget options mate. A room for a month with WiFi and bills for less then my monthly council tax 👍👍 can’t complain with that 😎😎

The most important thing is a decent working AC, not the price of apartment.
That's a good point, always try the AC before renting.
