That mustard cord is INCREDIBLE! I was thinking overalls immediately. Maybe a blazer type jacket would be interesting too. No, you definitely need a hobbit vest with that color!
Also, LOVE granny's button collection. What a cool thing to have!
A blazer lined in that leopard/giraffe print fabric! So splashy!
There's so much of it I'm thinking some sort of set is possible! Can't wait to get it started!
I started making a jacket with the leopard/giraffe today. I'll post pics when it's just about done because it is 😍😍
Barn jacket!
I think a pinafore would look really good with the yellow corduroy fabric 😁
Completely agree!
There is an actual specific name for the Samoa materials...they are worn like a sash...used in dances too.
That makes the pieces even more interesting. I'll have to look them up, thank you!!
The fabric with Samoa on is hopefully new as they are usually men waist sari's. As it's so hot there, they are cool to wear.
I think this makes them even more interesting! I'm going to research them a bit more to see what I can learn!
Cord- dungaree dress or Maybe a denim style jacket like your wearing in the video
Having just tidied my sewing room, I hear ya on the fabric mountain!!!
I immediately thought of a denim-style jacket!! I've gotten a ton of other ideas today, though so I may need to reevaluate my plans (or try for 2 things!)
So glad TH-cam suggested this video! Definitely gonna check out the rest of your channel now!! 💖
Thank you! I hope you find some good stuff!
@@KatieMakesStuff I’m definitely a new subscriber!!
My grandma had a footrest like that! With your sheet raincoat, you could try waxing the fabric? I don’t know of man made fibers can be waxed but it would be a neat thing to attempt! My grandma also had a jar of buttons, and there were a couple of strings of boot buttons that belonged to my great grandma.
I know that nylon fabrics can be waterproofed but I think it's a whole process that I don't care to get into; however, I found a nice upholstery fabric buried in my stash that I think will be perfect!
Epic outfit idea!!! Cord pants, and a vest-- the back of the vest in that metallic paisley material, the front in cord with buttons from your ggg-gran!
What a fascinating color combination! I hadn't thought of it but it would be so funky and cool I think it would work. Good eye!
I don’t think we’re related, but that jar of buttons story made me pause…do you think it’s just country people of a certain age?
Made me smile.😊
I feel like every granny born before WWII has a giant jar of buttons somewhere in their house. Did I mention how many quilts she had?? SO MANY!!
…and the fact that she wanted to keep the jar…
Oh the corduroy! Pants and jacket or vest. Love the idea of the shop.
Thank you so much! I'm excited about it, even if I don't sell much for a while! And I love the idea of a set!
I have a favour to ask… would you consider leaving your pop-ups/inserts displayed for longer? 5-10 seconds would be good as I find that they often vanish before I’ve had a good look at them. Longer display would be much appreciated, ta.
Absolutely! I apologize for them being so short. Your suggestion is exactly what I want so I can improve and I so appreciate it!
@@KatieMakesStuff Good on you 👏 and thanks for taking the suggestion well. ☺️
I can relate to your heritage, I come from a long, large family of makers. Great thrift finds! Now that I've gotten through the holidays, I can feel my creative juices flowing! Rebecca D. - Birmingham, AL
I hope 2024 brings lots of creativity and successful projects your way!!
The Haunted Ottoman! 👻
Gotta relocate the ghosties to somewhere else. Release them back into the wild 😂
Personally I think the mustard yellow corduroy would make a Super cute pinafore dress!
So true!
Also the buttons are fabulous! I have my great grandmother’s buttons in a 1920’s metal baby formula tin, they are very much depression era greys and browns but it’s still lovely to have them, she made quilts that apparently all got thrown away when she died 😱then it skipped two generations and now I feel connected to her because I sew xx
My grandmother had so many quilts in closets. I think she could keep a village in Alaska warm with them all! 🤣
good on you girl!
Looking forward to all the makes from these ideas, should keep us out of trouble for a while! Happy New Year Katie xx
Happy New Year to you too, my friend! May 2024 be filled with fun and creativity!
You got some interesting pieces there. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you do with everything this year. The sewing book sounds excellent and maybe you could read us a Christmas story from St Nick in the lead up to Christmas 2024. Mustard corduroy - how about short overalls for summer and a denim style jacket? The buttons I can see crocheted together with fishing line or wire to make a light shade or glued onto a glass to make a decorative votive candle holder. How cool would the footstool be if you upholstered the dodgy side with leather/suede and the top with the paisley material. Or vice versa. You did a great job on the hoody vest for your brother’s girlfriend. 🏆Didn’t get a good look at the red napkins but maybe purses/bags? The crocheted lace pillow sham looks like the work of a very creative and organised arachnid. It would be interesting to test out a black background with the white lace before you dye it. Add a couple of spiders…
You always have the BEST ideas!! I LOVE the button light shade! I'm adding that to my To Do list!
@@KatieMakesStuff 😁 Oh goody! 🎶
What a wonderful idea with the thrifted fabrics. Too bad that I live in Canada😢. I’m really enjoying your videos btw. Happy New Year from 🇨🇦
I'm hoping to add Canada soon! My biggest concern is keeping the cost as accessible as possible. I'll definitely make an announcement when it happens. Happy New Year to you too!
Yellow corduroy -- shirt dress
Ooh, fascinating idea!
Bellbottom pants our of the Mustard cordderoy
Ooooh...interesting idea!!
The corduroy neeeeeeds to be dungarees! 😊
I kind of agree!!
