How To Adjust Yamaha XMAX 300 Handlebars | 4K

Today I'll be showing how to adjust your XMAX 300 Handlebars. This can help you fine-tune the comfort of your bike and make riding a much better experience!
Tools you will need:
1. 4mm Allen Key
2. 5mm Allen Key
3. 10mm Wrench
4. 14mm Wrench
If you don't have the specific wrenches, then an adjustable wrench should work as well! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions and/or advice to do this better!

Great video, I have always unsure been concerned about taking the plastic handlebar cover off incase I broke it,now I know. Just like to say I actually managed to bring my handlebars forward without taking the cover off, a bit fiddly but wasn’t too difficult. All the dealers in Thailand say it’s not possible to move the handlebars back, can’t see why they don’t know??

Great video, thanks for sharing! Thinking about switching to this from a CB500X which is too heavy. I am thinking the low centre of gravity with the motor, storage and fuel all down low would make for an easy to handle bike. What's your experience been like?
The XMAX has been great for commuting and errands. It would be my go-to if I had to commute again. It’s ideal to have 2 bikes if possible , the XMAX for the daily and a fun bike for the weekend

there is a very tiny dot stamped on the bars on the inside area , this should be placed inline with the gap between the clamps to keep the correct standard position , unless you want to rotate them up or down a little . i picked mine up today and adjusted the bars back up , Xmax goes well for 300cc ! thanks for the videos .

Thanks for this video! I’d like to move the handlebar closer to my body. Is the stock position at the top or closer to the seat?
Someone who bought their XMAX brand new commented that their handlebars were in the forward position (further from the body). So I believe you’d have to adjust yours
Correct! It was at the top but I stopped doing since to top right bolt wasn’t cooperating. I’m taking it to the Yamaha shop and let them do it. I’m going to install my Pirelli Angel Scooter tires, so they can simply do it at the same it. I thought it was going to be easy, but no 😂
Do you have a view of your posture with both handlebar positions? Also, how did you install the heated grips?
No I don’t have a video showing that yet. I don’t think you’d necessarily see the difference visually, but more on how it feels. The heated grips were already installed when I bought the bike 🙏🏽
Is it ok to do mods on your xmax like changing rear suspensions, brake master kits, adding auxiliary led lights and the likes in your country? My family will be moving in UK next year and I am planning to get this scooter but I don’t know if I am allowed to do modifications.. thanks and ride safe
Yeah it's all good to do them, just need to make sure your insurance covers your mods in case of an accident.
Hi ! First of all i want to thank you for your imformative videos.I have 2018 xmax 300 and i have a problem.When the front wheel is flat,the handlebar is just about 4-5 degrees looking left side.
Can you suggest a solution for this? Thank you.
I'm not quite sure what the issue is but I suggest taking a look at your handlebar clamps just in case they aren't lined up properly. If they are and the handlebar is still not straight, maybe the forks are unaligned and a mechanic will have to check it for you

I'll just add a comment if anyone cares on this. Default position seems to be forward. I'm 6ft give or take and riding the xmax really made my middle back ache. Moving the bar back and rotating forwards has made a HUGE difference to comfort.
I’m surprised you wanted the bars closer but I’m glad you found the sweet spot for your riding 👌🏽
@@tapecknows The hump in the seat stops you from shoving your bum back so I found I was bending in the middle to compensate which tires out and starts to ache quickly enough. Bringing the bars towards the body seems to alleviate the need to lean as much.
Hi Joe….I’ve just got a 2022 Xmax, 10 minutes and my back is aching…. I’m 6ft 3”….. how far did you put the handlebars forward. I want to keep the bike but it’s way too uncomfortable….regards
Can you tell me when you changed your mirrors further forward, did you get better vision, or is it the same as before ? Thanks

The vision is better with the constant view behind and to the side of me. It keeps my eyes ahead and it makes the bike feel roomy too!
Hello Interesting! I think similar to Tricity 300! Can you show difference in driving position compared to the original mounting? By the way, did you install the USB port charger on the center? Safe trip to you...
It's a small difference so can only be felt and not really seen. The thing in the middle is the controls for the heated grips.
So what is the standard position, forward or back? Good vid, cheers.
I think the standard position is back because that’s how I saw it when I first adjusted mine. Unless the previous owner adjusted it backwards when they had it
@@tapecknows Thanks mate. I just pulled the cover off to install a Ram handlebar mount and it's in the forward position (towards the front of the bike). I'm guessing that's how it comes from the factory as my bike is brand new today. Cheers.

How do you adjust the brake levers. Mine ended up too high. Thanks.
There’s 2 10mm bolts that hold the levers to the handlebars. Simply loosen those and you can adjust to your preference
Which heated grip did u install?
The heated grips were already installed when I bought it and I can’t see any branding on it
What is that black box with the red button at the to of the handle bars?
It’s the controller for my heated grips! It’s a necessity here in winter 🥶
@@tapecknows I am interested how you connected that to your battery as I am getting a Xmax in a couple of weeks and will be fitting my power cable for my Garmin gps. Was it very hard?
Paul F fortunately for me it was already installed when I bought the bike. It looks pretty simple though as it connects directly to the battery. Do you plan to change your handlebars with GoWorks handle bar set?
Yeahh potentially in the future, I like the look of them, just need the money for it haha.

Yeah you probably can, just need to make sure the brake and throttle cables are long enough

Up position
I always fear taking panels off of scooters. It's my proverbial 'humpty dumpty'. I fear I can take it apart but won't be able to put it back together again. This was a well explained video though.

bolts will have a torque amount. For the Tricity 300 it is 48nm.
