In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
This feels like a prison interview with a serial killer with how softly Boyle is talking. It's so different to hearing him do standup lol
He's such a captivating person.
Am I the only one who doesn't find this even slightly entertaining? Get one of the funniest guys ever in UK comedy and do something woefully dull with him...kinda cringe.
He's like that in many interviews. The persona is completely different between his on-stage and his in-person.
I don’t know what’s funnier, someone hiding behind the sofa or the fact we’re so conditioned to how Taskmaster works that we noticed them
Maybe you were. I was concetrating on Alex's ears like instructed and missed it entirely. Which is to say, I would be so absolutely rubbish on Taskmaster.

I spotted them at 5:05 and had to check I wasn't crazy I was just looking around the room at the art
And I think Frankie absolutely saw the dude (his eyes darted to his right more than to his left when thinking, before he remembered to look at Alex's ears always, and as he left he gazed that way) but I bet he and other contestants consciously decide not to mention it because it's admitting they weren't staring exclusively at their favourite feature on Alex's face. Funny thing for the team to do though.
@@SLChaiThai Honestly I know that I'd be worse than even David Baddiel. I'd have no shot at any tasks except maybe sports tasks.
With the silent cramped up person sitting behind the sofa and odd questions leading no where in particular, this whole thing felt like it was unintentionally directed by David Lynch.
I love how awkward the interview segments have become over the seasons.
I don't know what I expected from Frankie but I didn't expect someone with such a gentle vibe

I’ve heard many people say hes the opposite of his stage persona, like plenty of interviews where the interviewer (Jonathan Ross, Richard Osman) bring up that he’s lovely in private

the terrifying part about taskmaster asking what you would like drawn on your neck for the rest of time is that it is quite possibly not a hypothetical question.
Totally wondering now if the hiding person will be in a different spot each interview. Definitely hoping for a reoccurring theme, like with the inkblot faces last season.
I’m hoping it’s part of the task and the person is a contestant will have to remember what Frankie said in a later task

"Stonehenge" is actually a pretty great answer to question 14. That's basically a chunky necklace tattoo. And it's hypothetically deep, people could read into it, you could start conversations about it or at least always have something interesting to say if others ask about it. I mean, the stones centre around a mystery, each human is a mystery, Frankie is a human.... I dunno. My rationale may be poor but his answer was good.
As soon as he asked the question I thought "Stonehenge. All the way around."
I was happy when Frankie answered the same :-D
That was also my first and only answer to that question. 😂

I must be as inattentive as Frankie, because I have just watched this all the way through, and didn't even notice someone behind the sofa
I saw them right away and then kept staring at them like they were going to jump out at some point, so maybe being inattentive is better in this case. :D

@@kingdomofashes I think it's actually a 360 camera, and my best guess for the hiding person is that it's one of the Andys (the producers on the show are both named Andy)

Made me think of a brownie for some reason, odd creatures.
I never knew Frankie speaks like Hannibal Lecter when he's not doing stand up.
My understanding of him, having never seen anything he's been in and as an American, was that he was a Scottish Bill Burr, but so far he's been very reserved and quiet, not what I was expecting at all.
The hiding person has to be Tom Hanks, just in case Alex was right on 19
I am really looking forward to this series. I just love how Francis Martin Patrick Boyle is so gently spoken when he's not "being Frankie Boyle". His Instagram content is much this way. I adore the theme of the house already and I can't wait to find out why someone was hiding by the sofa. ❤️

There’s something extremely unnerving about this reserved version of Frankie.
I just saw an interview with Greg where he says Frankie was really nice and well behaved on the show. I guess it goes to that difference between the real person and the stage person.
He was on QI once and he came off as really knowledgeable and pleasant and it was weird but nice seeing him in a different environment.

I don't understand really any of the people who've been trepidatious about Frankie being in the series. yes he can be somewhat brash, but he's very much on the side of the angels. There's no shortage of so called 'edgy' white middle aged comedians the last few years who've taken an odd turn or two, and Frankie ain't one of them.
(and I know the OP here wasn't specifically saying this, I'm just thinking this as a general point)

in the VR version of this video, the person hiding behind the couch grabs the camera next to them and takes a photo of Frankie at the 01:00 minute mark, so now I'm thinking it might be a task set for another contestant? Ivo? But it could just be a fun gag

I really like looking at the theme of the room.
It seems to me that it is a music theme, with the greg picture, taskoneway
It also has previous TM music groups on the left side of the picture: diverse stripes, nell diamond, rosalind, products of conception.
I also saw a picture which was a spoof of yellow submarine by the beatles.

Think it says Taskonbury so music theme yes but more specifically a music festival theme

I really thought the guy hiding behind the sofa was going to be a part of it, but then he wasn't a part of it and that kind of surprised me even more.

Not really, we've seen all sides of that room before on plenty of occasions. Or do you mean something particular about that side?

Maybe the person crouching behind the sofa is performing a task. It could be one of those tasks that only goes to one contestant. More likely, they thought it would be funny to mess with us.

Every time the camera went to Alex, all I could look at was the person hiding next to the couch
If that isn't the hair of Ivo Graham* on that person hiding _next to_ the sofa then I'm Stephen Fry's spinster aunt Susan Cleverly Fry.
Maybe the next person to be interviewed has to hide in the room during the preceeding interview.
* And, I'm assuming, the head and intact and alive body of Ivo Graham.

My first thought was Ivo too. It'll be interesting to see if your theory is correct about them using the other Taskers for each interview. They may change position too, that chair and blanket seems like an obvious place.

I can't help but wonder if it's a Young Ones reference to the fifth housemate. It's something Alex would almost certainly know about, probably others in the crew too.

Maybe it was Tom Hanks behind the sofa, and Alex was hoping someone would pick him so he could pop out?
How someone, in this situation, can choose as their famous person anyone except Greg Davies, is beyond me.
Sad to say I was only observant enough to notice the person behind the sofa about 5 minutes in.
I noticed them when I read the comments....after the video had finished.
Its so weird but compelling.
I knew it would be a T name from the beginning. The T's behind Alex are a classical example of what magicians call forcing: guiding someone to make a predetermined choice.
There were likely some other hints that we weren't able to witness, maybe even before the task, to make Tom Hanks a natural choice to when suddenly being told to come up with a name. Maybe some talk among the crew discussing Tom Hanks movies in his earshot, etc.
I'm glad Frankie managed to dodge it. xD
The BIG bolt could be described as a TURNER & HOOCH is in the bottle. The rest of the CAST is AWAY. You often have an ottoman beside a couch, but instead there is A MAN (CALLED OTTO?).
Quiet Frankie Boyle is terrifying.

Weirdly, I guessed Thomas Pynchon on question 6.
The “not much is known about this person” was a dead giveaway. There is probably not another person in the world with the same ratio of fame/influence to biographical obscurity (well, maybe John Swartzwelder)

That's Thomas Pynchon. He is writing a novel (working title Tugtemester) about a conspiracy involving the neuro-linguistic programming of comedians.
noticed the paintings on both walls in the first few seconds and thought this might be a part of the interview...did not notice the hidden guy until 5 minutes have passed XD
When he said question 4, it was question 5... because he asked previous questions before that. When he said Question 5, it was Question 7, because he also asked, "All of them?" prior, making the question count higher. I'd have gotten on his case about the question count.
So happy Frankie is on the show.

I first noticed the person hiding behind the sofa at 6 minutes and 37 seconds
I've stopped the clock. I spotted a head moving behind the sofa.
Took me about 7 minutes before I noticed the person hiding on the side of the sofa.
I got Thomas Pynchon as soon as he umm'ed and err'ed about whether or not the guy has serious issues.
So we're just gonna ignore that dude by the couch?
Why was the person crouching behind the sofa there if they were never going to address it lol
This is weirdly unsettling, like an interview with a horrific serial killer
I'm rarely a fan of the guests in general but Taskmaster seems to bring out the most likeable features in people lol
