Yeah for my 95 camaro, I swapped the whole rear from a 98-02 camaro. The only problem is I accidentally picked up a traction controlled unit so I had to have a hole drilled into the top of the pumpkin for my ABS sensor along with transferring over the brake lines. Otherwise it was an easy swap. I got a zexel Torsen lsd and upgraded 3.42 gears out of this as mentioned. In addition I rebuilt the rear end with my grandfather with new timken bearings, upgrades TA performance diff cover, Moser axles (cuz one axle was shot from bad wheel bearing), and bearing cap studs. I later bought GM 4.10 gears off eBay, but have yet to install. I agree GM gears are the most quiet, but not as strong.
All the 5spd f-bods are 3series w/3.42 gears. The auto options 3.23 gears w/3 series. The 2 series are the 3.08 and lower.(weak) Factory grs are 2-cut, Need more back lash. Run pattern is centered. I put in 5-cut 3.55's and set 0.004" Backlash. Just took it out and it's great.
I appreciate your videos, I'm on a tight budget and this helps. I have both a 1978 Buick regal Ttype all original and a 1998 z28. 8 have plenty of spare parts for my camaro, I think I will drop in the extra posi unit from my camaro into my Regal.👍
He is correct . A Yukon 7.62 posi 28 spline 377 dollars.. Moser axels for 1987 grand national 319 dollars . Motive bearing kit 115 dollars. (Fits 7.5 , 7 5/8 , 8.5.) 8.5 g body axels fit 7 5/8 as well. About 150 for ring and pinion. Around 1200 hundred bucks in parts. And 150 to 300 to set it up. As of 4 July 2023 you’re looking at 1350-1500 bucks total. And it will definitely hold 500 hp.

How many bottles of gear oil do you need to fill it back up have the same setup put a hundred miles on it opened it back up left side axle when I pulled and had no fluid running down the tub right side was good put like two and a half bottles in it I don't think that was enough?

Was used in everything from the Toyota pickups-Isuzu pickups, the biggest difference I’ve noticed from research is the carrier comes out the front instead of the rear. I’m LS swapping a 92 Isuzu pup an everyone tells me they use a 7.5” carrier and locker but trying to confirm before I spend $300-700 on a whole kit
Ive seen it done on jmalcoms channel with his cutlass. that has a 355 with a wieand 142 supercharger. makes about 400 to the wheels. i would NOT do a transbrake though. thats pushing it

Very simple my guy , just push the axles in then you will see the slot where the clips go in at pull the axle back out ,and that will lock the clip in and just replace the center block that will hold the axles so the clip won't fall out
Aye bro I'm starting to finally build my SS after stocking up parts for the last 14 years lol. But my question is my housing, axles, and locker have some rust......a littler more than this one, but will it mix with the gear oil and damage anything? I've spend the last two days cleaning it off.

The gear have to match the posi some posi take a ticker gear some dont ..this one was a 3 carrier posi so its not a thick gear ..get with quick performance and send them a pic of your posi they will get you right

4:10 gears are weaker than 3.42 though. 7.5" I wouldn't risk it personally.🤷♂️

They use different ring gear series 2 ring gear thicker then the series 3
I believe one series is thinner in order to accommodate the abs wheel

If you post a link, that would help. Several different size 10 bolts can have 28 spline axles.

That center block he mentioned is doing the same thing the cross pin you're used to in open or clutch type diff.
