10 MAKEUP TIPS - HOW TO AVOID LOOKING OLDER

- PLEASE DON'T GET OFFENDED BY THE WORD 'OLD'. We are all getting older, but we all age differently and at different speeds.
These tips may not be helpful to everyone, as we all have different skin, and different skin issues. Some 70 year olds have amazing skin and some 20 year olds don't. At the end of the day makeup should be fun, and you should definitely like the end result.
So I guess what I'm actually trying to say is 'do what makes you happy.' Confidence is beauty.

Your Mom looks terrific! What a great sport she is to let you show her looking "older" and "younger."
I've always taken care of my skin (I'm now 67). A positive attitude, facial exercises, laughter, eating right, exercise, drinking plenty of water, never smoking, and not burning in the sun much, all make a big difference.

I disagree with the tip on lipstick,red makes your lips look thinner, lighter colours make lips look bigger

1 exfoliate away dead skin layer
2 moisturize
3. Use luminous foundation
4. Use more targeted hydrating concealer
5. Use less powder
6 thicken brows
7 no glitter on lid wrinkles
8 get rid of redness in tear duct line
9. Blush higher up and out, away from nasolabial or apple of cheeks
10. Liquid highlighter

I was just thinking the same with the hair cut. I was even wondering if I could pull it off . I don’t think I can though , mum has beautiful bone structure and strong jaw and beautiful cheeks. I have a round face and it’s puffy due to illness and medication. But wow if I could I definitely would, I took a screenshot of the haircut and colour going to take it to my salon to see if I can.
Another excellent example of allowing people to see the power of make-up. My skin has changed so much with medication and I am having to revise my skincare and how I apply make up. For the 1st time in my life I look older than I am.... there were a few tips I have taken from this video.
Your mum is such a beautiful glam lady. Such a shame the beauty industry don't recognise how we mature ladies and ladies well into their 60s still love our skincare and absolutely still want to look glam.

I am 55 with dry, dehydrated skin and I found this video very helpful. I know a lot about makeup but still tend to slack off with exfoliating, so your clear explanations made me feel inspired to be more vigilant.

your mom has innocent, young looking eyes.. a brightness about them that suggest a woman younger than her years. i call them soulful in other videos and it is rare that you see that quality in blue or lighter colored eyes. she has them, tho! really good video.

Your mom looks great, meaning very current, fresh, and stunning! I wouldn't say she looks "older" in the before pic, rather she looks more "current" with the softer look! Great job!
Thank you both so much ladies. I am 54, mother of 4, grandmother of 6. Years ago I used to have the make up thing down. Cut to years later, (now). Way out of practice, and the rules I used to go by do not apply for me anymore. This was so very helpful. I've been getting results more like mom's right side. Love, love the more toned down natural looking left side. Great look on you mom by the way. You are both beautiful. I've subscribed and look foreword to watching more of your vids.

You have no idea how much I appreciate your channel !! The other day I had a "free" makeover from Sephora. Even though they assured me they do lots of older women (I'm 66) it was terrible! My mascara was heavy black (way too dark for me) and layered thickly on top and bottom lashes. She kept slathering on concealer until I had wrinkles upon wrinkles that I didn't even know I had! Even though I asked for matte eye shadow, she put liquid shimmer stuff and a dark purple that made my eyes look bruised. My foundation and lips were OK but all I could see were those eyes. When I got home I took it all off right away. The next day I did my makeup using makeup I have bought that was suggested by you and using your tips. I posted it on FaceBook and basked in the glowing comments. Were it not for you I would have just thought that there is no use putting on makeup because it only makes me look older.
Unfortunately anyone over the age of 35 seem to be forgotten at makeup counters and the staff are only trained in the techniques for the instagram folk. Its a shame because makeup is universal. xxx

I love when you have your mom as your model!! These tips are helpful as I am also a mature woman. *I now have drier skin, no matter how much I moisturize and i only use a tint. Perhaps I need to exfoliate 3 times a week. I find that powder blush ages me. I now use a cream blush that works best for my dry skin, however, the colors and brands are limited. I am presently using Jane Iredale cream blush. Thanks for all of the tips that you mentioned!

Thank you so much for these tips which I agree with you to a point. Imagine for a moment this, take a piece of shiny paper and then a piece of regular paper and crumble them up. Look at them side by side. You will see that the matte side doesn't show the lines and wrinkles like the shiny paper does. I wear matte foundation and I look older with dewy or shiny foundation. Ladies check it out for yourself.

I am going to try putting on my liquid/cream highlighter before foundation. Nice tip! I like highlighters, but they can be difficult on mature skin. So far, I have just used a lightly applied illuminator after bronzing, and before blush. I know that is not the norm, but I like the finish doing it this way. I am going to try it before foundation...and see the results! Thank you for for this tip!
Kudos to Mom for being a good sport about being seen without makeup, and with the wrong makeup. She is naturally beautiful, both inside and out!

Lovely video! Great tips that I’ll start using. Sometimes us older gals just don’t see something is wrong until we look at a comparison like this one. I just started using a foundation that leaves a luminous look. Oh my gosh I’m throwing away my matte foundation. What a difference. I’m first going to try lessening the amount of eye liner. That impressed me most. Can you do a video of how you did your Moms eyebrows. I’ve subscribed so will look through and see if I can find one you may have already done. Thanks for the great video. 1st off.... your mom is beautiful!! Now, you really hit home with me on the very 1st 1. I did used to exfoliate some but once I ran out of product I've just never picked up anything else!! Thanks for the advice. I will now make sure I don't skip that step. 👌
Some quick scrubs can be made with products you have in your cupboard. You can whiz up oatmeal in the blender and a make a paste with water or a little oil for a very soothing emollient scrub. For a more energetic one, try sea salt or sugar with your favorite oil - olive, sunflower, or more exotic ones like coconut, avocado, or apricot, which are a delight for cosmetic use. Your mum is a great model and the "good" make up made her look younger and fresher so good job personally I have found brown eyeliner and brown mascara much better than black as we get older and just the top lashes is usually enough. Little tip. When you apply your mascara to top lashes open and close ur eyes gently and quickly and some of the mascara will transfer to the bottom ones in a way you cud never manage using mascara. Well that works for me
I'm in the midwest, brown mascara is hard to find!
They have Brown everywhere in the Midwest . Even at Walgreens every line has a brown mascara.
I wish that mascara trick worked for me, I have about 3 lashes on each bottom lid...😕

Thank you very much for the helpful hints. Now, at 51 yrs old, I noticed what makeup worked 3 yrs ago does not work now. The newest lines/wrinkles I notice, are due to heavy consistent stressful situations over the past 4 yrs. There was far more frowning then laughter. I found powder makeup of any kind DOES NOT belong on my face, the powder makeups give a much dried out appearance to my non-dry appearance with out makeup or moisturizer. Thank you, again! 😊

Susan Moser powder doesn’t work for me either and it’s such a struggle esp if I want to conceal under my eyes and the powder makes it 10x worse

This is wonderful and your mom is gorgeous. Please do some tutorials with her! I know that foundation choice is personal depending on the skin but I would love suggestions - I’ve bought way too many foundations and concealers looking for the perfect combination of coverage and illumination (normal to dry and a bit sensitive but good condition 60+ skin) . I now understand why I’ve hated the look of every “nude” lipstick I’ve tried - this is going to help me to thin the stash and to quit buying things that are not going to work.

Maybe it would be a good idea to work with the consultants at the cosmetic counters who will give you a demonstration so you can see how a product works on you, before you buy. Good luck!

Your mum is GORGEOUS and her coloring is similar to mine so I really enjoy learning from both of you on all the products and techniques to use with them.
