I am about to buy a used Prius to do uber in. I haven’t owned a gas car in 20 yrs. Just motorcycles & bicycles. I really want to get a full EV but i can’t afford a Tesla right now...and I am about to sell my house so imwill be totally dependent on fast charging stations...which aren’t too common out here on Long Island NY yet. It’s doable. But i am a little nervous about doing uber in an EV without a home base right now. So my thinking is...get a used Prius with a 50 mile range. Drive that for a couple years working & doing uber...and then by 2023 get a full EV. I can’t lease a Tesla and do uber...i would get killed at the end of the lease with mile penalties. Anyway, this is the plan. But i so cannot wait to go full EV. Lol. .... just made me think of the movie Tropic Thunder. 😂 I still am thinking about getting a Leaf and doing it. Do uber all day....into the night. Then find a fast charger and charge for an hour...go home and do the whole thing over the next day. I think if i keep my miles at about 150 per day max...maybe mixing uber with grubhub since the food delivery apps use less miles....maybe its doable now. Still crunching the numbers.

A used Bolt or a used Prius to drive in San Francisco? My main concern is going up and down the hills with 1-3 passengers. The Prius cost about 40% less upfront, 10k (60-70k miles) vs 25k (25-30k miles) for a Bolt. I drive about 150-200 miles a day (50k / year). I'm assuming gas will cost about $15-20 a day on a Prius with about 37 mil per gallon, which is about 5k annually. Assuming both cars last 3 years without major issues with battery or engine the Bolt will save me 15k on gas alone. Thoughts?

If the numbers you are saying are correct I'd have to probably fast charge once or twice. I do 300-400 miles a day and live over 30 miles from the city. For instance Friday was slow and I drove 460 miles. The nice thing is no speed limit is over 60mph. I mainly only do that on the weekends. Weekday driving in a bolt would be great. But overall as a point of view of a rideshare driver, I don't see any logical reason for $40,000 investment in a car like this with putting all important factors in one place.
