    Hi Ezra, I have a 2016 Volt! So here are my tips: as for charging apps, I recommend two different ones, "VoltaCharging" and "PlugShare". Volta is much better and of course brought to you by the makers of Chevrolet. Completely free to use. You can sign up with others and pre-pay and fill up on charge and still cheaper than gas. You can find them at a lot of different places in LA. The app will show you not only where it is but EVEN when they are in use so you don't drive out and see they are taken. It usually limits you to 2 hours at each station. I initially got is as a lease because I was commuting from LA to OC for work and it is carpool eligible of course. Also tons of incentives for rewards and rebates from CA and Feds for tax incentives. So folks check out what may be best fit for you. And yes my Volt drives great and the pick up is awesome as I used to drive a hybrid and in comparison it feels like a sports car. I do have a charger that is portable but of course does take much longer to charge than a home charger or public stations. The bolt is a little smaller than my Volt but you are correct that it is much more spacious than it appears. Any folks who have further questions, feel free to reach out :-) be good!

    I'm getting a Bolt tommarow, I have a lyft rental before and it was tough becuase uber would do promos for pax and and biz would die.

    Good Video, I pass you a lot in Santa Monica when I drive. I have a Chevy Bolt as well that I Uber with.
    I am able to get 350 miles in range which is amazing for ridesharing and food delivery.

      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Keith! I'll be on the lookout for you and your Bolt! 350 miles? That's incredible!! I always start thinking about where to charge when I get to about 80 miles left in range.
      How do you charge? Home, level 2 or supercharger?

  • @saynotop2w

    Congrats on lucking out on these. In my experiences these are extremely popular, and since neither Uber nor Lyft let us drivers choose the vehicles(what the fuck, man), it is very hard to net the electric vehicle. If you have found one for rental, then sure, it's a no brainer. They're great for those who take a break in the middle after morning commute hours and resume during evening commute hours.

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is directly through Maven Gig. I know Maven-Lyft/Uber has some Bolts but this is a product not directly tied to Uber or Lyft. And you get to select the vehicle you want because each car is at a different price. I'm sure the Bolts do go quickly but I've also heard that some people who aren't quite ready for the charging life are returning them

    Thinking of renting the Chevy Bolt from Mavis in Austin. Do you still think it’s a good investment for ride sharing? I have over 1k rides with Uber n Lyft in San Antonio and Austin Texas, I currently drive a 2006 GMC Envoy XL so I’ll be missing out on those rides, but wonder if savings on Gas would pay for this? Thanks for the videos!

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it depends on a few factors - are you open to spending an hour at a charger for every 125 miles you wanna drive? are there chargers near you that would fit your lifestyle? can you easily cover the weekly rate by driving a day or two? if yes, then i think it could be worth trying. i love driving the bolt but maven can be a pain to deal with. their customer service is pretty bad. they will probably be brand new bolts so i recommend trying it as close to launch as possible. also, if you try it now, less people will be clogging up the charging stations.

    i rented one from maven 229 a week.......... LA needs more charging stations, why pay for parking just to charge the car, then why put these chargers in a parking structure then close it down at 10 pm.... more chargers are needed,, it takes the hollywood hills no problem... and merging is awesome.. i raced many cars,, civis bye accords bye to camry's , chevy silverado got burned, the sport button,, damn puts you back in your seat.. heated seats,, heated steering wheel...

    how well does the air conditioning work and does it rapidly decrease battery

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works great! Having AC on does decrease the range, but not much. For example, if it says my range is 215 miles and I turn on the AC, the range will then drop to about 200

      I think through the lease you can, but you have to provide your own insurance and commit to a certain length lease. With rentals, usually you can only do one platform - but this one allows multiple/.

  • @oscarmonroy27

    The earnings possibility is $1 per mile! You will need to drive 246 miles to pay 💰 for the week! The Uber rates per mile is very very low at .675 CENTS per mile! With surge you can get to $1 per mile! The issue is that you are -246 every week ! A normal car 🚗 payment is $246 per month ! Why chose to pay 4x the normal rate for a car? Uber and Lyft do not guarantee a salary ! Why do drivers go into debt on behalf of the Corp ?! This is the ultimate crime against innocent people by Uber and Lyft !

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +oscarmonroy27 I earn upwards of $4 per mile for lots of the driving I do. The price includes unlimited miles, unlimited charging, maintenance and insurance. If driven enough, it can be a good value. Thanks for your opinion but you have not considered all factors

    Is this rental thru Lyft or uber

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am renting through Maven Gig, which is a new product from GM. It's available in San Diego and San Francisco and will be coming to LA later this year. You can drive with multiple apps, but the service has some problems so I'm not ready to recommend it to others just yet. But I do love the Bolt!

    Can you do UberSelect with Chevy Bolt?

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not eligible in my city www.uber.com/drive/los-angeles/vehicle-requirements/
      (Even though the back seat of the Bolt might be bigger and more comfortable than a BMW 3 series.)

    • @downT02
      @downT02 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And better ride than BMW 3 series I imagine.
      So even when Bolt does not qualify for UberSelect the rental cost is not too much of burden.

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The price is high, don't get me wrong, but still a better value than any other rideshare rental when considering that there's zero fuel expense.

    • @oscarmonroy27
      @oscarmonroy27 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      downT02 so many drivers don't realize that the demand for select is very very low! Select pays about 1.25 per mile, Uber x drivers can earn close to that with their bonus ! Uber x normal rate is about $1 per mile ! It's not worth destroying a Mercedes or BMW for no extra pay 💰! Never get into debt for a ride share company ! It's not worth it ! Most people default on their agreements!

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +oscarmonroy27 what does that have to do with this video? I don't drive select

      +Fred Morris it includes insurance and unlimited charging. It's been amazing to not have to spend a dime on gas over the past month. But yeah, wouldn't make sense for delivery although a used Nissan Leaf can be bought for pretty cheap now which would be great for deliver.

    Looking at YOU sitting in the back, your not fat or exceptionally big in any way but there DOESNT SEEM to be much room for a 3rd passenger. Seems like you will have to decline 4 passengers in that box. Good luck getting 3 people in the back. My Mazda 3 has more room than that.

    You might be better off just buying the car.

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a question of commitment, but also miles, wear and tear, insurance being included, and unlimited charging makes a big difference too. If I bought it, I'd be paying at least $15 a day for fast charging because Chevy doesn't have any plan included.

      Rideshare Genius I'll just get a model 3 when I can.

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Might as well just get a Model S. The Model 3 with range is almost $60K I think. And lots of S come with unlimited charging while Model 3 does not. The truth is the Model 3 and Bolt are really not direct competitors when you look at the pricing

    • @rareview362
      @rareview362 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rideshare Genius I would rather have the s definitely. But even at the base price of 35k you get 215 miles on a full charge. Not bad. I'm waiting for the 400 mile range to come out.

    • @RideshareGenius
      @RideshareGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually 215 with a Model 3 is probably better than 240 with a Bolt because Tesla actually put their charging stations in logical places and the ones I had access to with the Bolt were not that good in terms of being able to go anywhere
