    If you guys saw the price tag, here’s an alternate recommendation that will cost you half the price: Fujifilm XE-2 with a Fujifilm XC 35mm lens - This kit produces very solid, film-like images, albeit with an older sensor, at a fraction of the price. I’ve had my XE-2s for two years now and it’s my favorite general purpose/ travel/ street camera.

If you look at the gear of people who actually take photos professionally it’s almost always a full frame camera with professional quality glass (costs a hell of a lot more than 1600). @Drehirth 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      that's what i'm currently considering. The price for these fuji used and even old cameras are kind of insane. If you had to get only 1 as a beginner, do you think the zf is worth it? I'm afraid I wouldn't be good enough to appreciate the features of it compared to zfc, but at the same time I like the idea of full frame and growing into the zf longer term.

    • @DerKirchenhocker
      @DerKirchenhocker 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Drehirth I absolutely can recommend either one of these cameras. Obviously price might be the dealbreaker. I bought my Zfc in almost new condition used for less than $1000. The Zf cost me $2000. The cameras are similar, but obviously the Zf has more features and is more rugged. For a beginner it probably makes more sense to buy the Zfc. You won’t be disappointed. But if you have the money, I recommend the Zf right off the bat.

      For a while photography was a niche enough and beginners could get a great deal on a used mirrorless camera and old film lenses were dirt cheap, then content “creators” needed a way to muster up views. For awhile lenses have been skyrocketing and thanks to a few “creators” the prices of stuff that was junk not even a year ago has become unaffordable. I’d rather watch photography channels that actually take photos rather than channels that talk about gear and nothing but, while never showing anything from these “great” cameras.

    Lol, the F, the last generation that has the same optics as the original, goes for almost the same as the V, which finally got an optics update among other changes that's worth paying extra for. Either way, both are EXTREMELY inflated in price due to scarcity. Before anyone says, "but the chip shortage and pandemic did it," the X100V's have been sold out/on back order with basically every retailer since release way before the pandemic was an issue. I've also seen official Fuji stores having the X100V marked up from the 1200 MSRP to 2400.
    I love the cameras, I managed to get a broken V, repair it, and be set, but Fuji knows they're basically a Cult and the only option outside of a Leica or Sony RX1 for a great Fixed lens camera (the LX100 and LX100 II are great, but I'm not a fan of telescopic lenses), so they charge a premium. They're built well with a solid design/lens, I would pay 1200 for a brand-new warranty X100V probably, but not the 1400-2000 used ones are going for.

  • @slr7075
    @slr7075 ปีที่แล้ว

    The easiest and least expensive way to closely replicate that "film look" from any digital camera will be from an old DSLR. You can pick any brand DSLR but make sure it was released before the year 2010. These cameras use older low megapixel sensors (that perfectly mimics film) and were limited by the technology during the time. You'll get filmic colors, higher ISO grain, and best of all, the ability to use hundreds of pre-owned lenses made in the last two decades!
    A Canon 20D, Nikon D200 or even better an early Full Frame camera like the Canon 5D classic or Nikon D700 all paired with a cheap 50mm prime are so inexpensive but so damn good right now, it absolutely makes complete sense. These were Pro cameras with ergonomic, ease of use and user tactile functionality in mind. Of course it's not going to look sexy like the Fuji X100f but if people just get over the black melted blob appearance, they can still experience the same nostalgic aesthetic without spending over $1000.

    I wouldn't describe the x100f as a "beginner" camera - while it can do that it's also a serious photographer's tool. Price is relative - the new iPhone is projected around $1400 US...and people will upgrade that every year. It's always about "where do you spend your money" for the desired intent.

    I bought a year ago a X100s for 500€, it might sound cheap to lots of people, but it all depends from the budget you want to spend, paid for an X-E2 body only 200€, that's cheap, but then you need to buy lenses, my advice, do not buy gear only because someone on YT said that it's cheap or is a nice beginning camera, there's a lot of good alternatives out there for relatively little money, even Fuji cameras, you just need to keep looking for the right offer, do not overpay for something that will loose value a few years after. Maybe this is not the case with Laicas camera and in this case X100 series, but buying used above the retail market is absurd.

    How can that “cheap” for beginner?

  • @GarryKnight
    @GarryKnight ปีที่แล้ว

    It hasn't got all of the film sims. My favourite is Classic Negative and I'm pretty sure the X100F doesn't have that one as it was released in early 2020.

    If y'all want an actual cheap camera, I'd recommend getting the og x100 or literally any other fuji camera, they ALL have film simulation.

      fr you can buy a shit ton of film and an actual film camera for a ton cheaper

    • @regis_c
      @regis_c ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @daskrunkly3213 Exactly
      You can get an Olympus OM-10 for around $70 - 120, and for all intents and purposes, let's say your 36exp film was $10/roll
      Along with the price of the camera, and development (let's say $20/roll), you would have to shoot approx 33 - 46 rolls of film (approx. 1,188 - 1,656 exposures) before it you begin to save any money using the digital camera. If you cut the development costs out (say you develop film at home using a Patterson tank with caffenol or something cheap), you can increase your film count to 100 - 140 before you begin to save money using that digital camera (approx. 3,600 - 5,040 exposures)

    It’s Fujifilm X100F so it’s an older version of the X100 serie. I think you can get it at a good price second hand.
    Note: It doesn’t have all Fujifilm simulations. Some simulations are only on the newer camera,

    Hey guys if you want an actually cheap Fuji simulation camera that can replicate Kodak films and other films get a Fuji xe-1 150-250$ used and you can get a manual lense for 50 or less

    Been wanting to pick one up for a while to use as a backup to my xpro3. These are now the same price as an xpro3 lol (not your fault tho-accessibility and prices are wild atm-a USED Olympus PEN was going for MORE than an xpro3 new the other day on eBay.)

    People, this was posted 7 months ago, have some common sense. It's not his fault that demand increased this much, which makes prices go up a lot, he couldn't have predicted that.
    At the time of posting the short, he was correct, this was in fact a good deal. Not anymore, things chance.

  • @argersgulka5761
    @argersgulka5761 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s because of videos like these that Fujifilm can’t keep up with the demand. Good for them but, for us that know what we need it’s impossible to get some of the lineup because EVERYONE wants one regardless if they’ll end up using it. Prices have doubled on some stores and used ones are more expensive than retail price.

    You can still get the x100s which is older than x100f
    And the original x100 although that one was a test camera and is somewhat awkward.
    But calling them beginner cameras...isnt accurate at all. You would learn a lot though

    You don’t need a good camera for that just go into Lightroom and drag up the luma curve on the dark side slightly and tweak some things here and there and you’re done
